Went for restaurant month.
Had Peking duck, Yangzhou fried rice, bean cooked in olives leaves, black pepper beef, Pinot noir with antipodes sparkling water.
Waitress was great, always topping up our sparkling without having to chase them up for it.
Plates were replaced before starting mains.
Peking duck was tender with crispy skin. The beans were perfect crunch and softness, we thought it was the highlighted surprise of the evening. Beef was tender, we wished our digestion would fit more in.
Flavor was certainly haute cuisine chinese, subtle and not in your face type that you get from ordinary takeaways.
Will be back for more for sure.

Great place to try, obviously if you are expecting the traditional yum char experience with your dim sum being served on trollies and the hustle and bustle, then this is not the place. However this is the place to go if you are after something different, yum char with a modern twist. Xiao long baos and truffle prawn dumplings were delicious but my absolute favourite was the wok fried radish cakes with XO sauce. It was the ultimate comfort food and reminded me of home.

Huami is finally bringing a contemporary atmosphere to Chinese restaurants in Auckland, something long overdue. Think sleek and dark, black and neon red…no brightly lit dining rooms with heavy white tablecloths and faded cheap crockery here.

Today I will write about Huami – one of my favorite Chinese restaurants in Auckland. Situated below the Sky Tower, it is a great place to entertain family and friends who enjoys the Chinese cuisine. Huami offers signature dishes from regional parts of China including Beijing, Guangzhou, Huaiyang and Sichuan.

The sophisticated settings and the atmospheric environment forms a pleasant dining experience.

Today we went for the a la carte.

We started with the Superior Broth with King Crab Meat & Fresh Fungus. The broth was fresh and light with a umami flavour.

Secondly, arrived the Fruit Wood-Roasted Peking Duck. The traditional way to eat the Peking Duck is to wrap the meat, onion and cucumber within the pancake with fermented flour paste.

The Pancake was thin and stretchy; The duck was tender with a crispy skin; and the paste tasted authentic.

Shortly after we received the Boiled Chicken with Spicy Chilli Oil & Bean Sauce. They used chicken breast which is slightly tougher in texture, but the use of spice was excellent. I was slightly annoyed with the order of meal, this is a cold dish which should be served before the Peking Duck.

Later arrived the Crispy Lamb Rack marinated in Plum Sauce. The lamb was tender with a slight crisp. The sweetness of the plum sauce matched well with the meat. The lamb was not greasy nor has a mutton smell.

Simultaneously, we received the XO Chilli Fried Rice with Shrimp & Squid. This is my must-order dish at Huami. The flavouring of the fried rice was divine. The rice was grainy with a firm texture.

I have visited this restaurant many times, never once I was let down on the taste.

The restaurant is priced at the higher end of scale, which includes the beautiful presentation and premium experience you receive. I do however expect a more l considerate and attentive hospitality.

Taste: 10/10

Presentation: 9/10

Service: 8/10

Ambience: 10/10

Value for money: 9/10

Price $70 per person (excl alcohol)

Really really recommend the bbq pork bun and slices 👌 juicy as hell and super flavourful. One of the best places in Auckland to go for yumcha/lunch in terms of food quality and ambience.

Best to make a booking as they get quite full, particularly during weekends or holidays. Very fast and professional service too.

Loved the interior and ambience; the wait staff were very helpful and polite. The home made spinach egg tofu was to die for, the sauce was amazing and it was beautifully presented. The Hong Kong style noodles weren’t bad but considering the price, I expected something better. They reminded me of the Malaysian noodles that they sell at the UoA quad. I probably won’t come here again but it was a nice one off experience.

Huami had a great atmosphere, food, and service. I came here for dinner, they were helpful with wine selection and patient when ordering. The food , although expensive, was authentic. Each dish was very different in style and the flavour of the main component of that dish was brought out well. I was particularly impressed with the claypot duck and chestnut because the duck pieces were all breast and no bone, yet it was extremely tender. Flavour wise, I couldn't say I had favourite as they were all delicious.
Would come again from time to time for a special treat.

Yumcha @huamiakl 🥟🥢 Located on the ground floor of the sky tower, 🐼 has been here a couple times for dinner but has yet to try out their Cantonese brunch menu “Dim Sum”! So happy that @foodiestablenz and @rita.thefoodie joined me for a dim sum date last week!
.
Instead of the traditional cart service, orders are made from the menu. A few premium dim sum options, such as their “truffle prawn dumplings” ($12) and “abalone siew mai shrimp chicken dumplings” ($15) were available on the menu. The truffle prawn dumplings were pretty decent, as well as their grammable “squid ink dumplings” ($9), both came with generous prawn fillings. But I did not notice any hint of squid or squid ink in the squid ink dumplings other than it being black in skin color😆 (which I didn’t mind, just a bigger prawn dumpling in black) 🖤
.
I also liked their congees, we tried both the fish congee and the chicken congee with century egg (yes that black preserved egg)🖤
.
The rest of the dishes we ordered tasted mediocre at best and I find their dim sum options quite limited in general, especially in the dessert section, only 4 were listed. No egg tarts 😢
.
Overall, Huami has a nice oriental-themed ambience and some premium dim sum options if you wish to impress. But for an authentic dim sum experience, I would probably go somewhere else😝
.

I can only rate their cocktails, which I enjoyed more than my fair share of over the course of two evenings! These were beautifully executed by the excellent staff. Food looks stunning, so I'll have to give it a try when I'm next in Auckland.

Huami truly exceeded my expectations! Their extensive menu offers something for everyone, and the food was absolutely amazing and lived up to the hype. My personal favorite was the Steamed Pork Ribs, and the Duck was divine as well. Their drinks were not only beautifully crafted but they were delicious. While both the food and cocktails were ridiculously good, what made the experience even more enjoyable was the exceptional service by Eva and Eli. They were unbelievably gracious, kind, and attentive. Eva's sweet and lovely personality and professional approach were impressive, and Eli's welcoming demeanor put me at ease. Even when I accidentally spilled my drink, they were incredibly understanding and replaced it promptly. The combination of awesome food and spectacular service makes it a definite Win-Win, and I can't wait to return!

Beautiful restaurant... Absolutely loved it. The staff were friendly, helpful, and very efficient. The plates were a large serve which I'm not used too. Is a bit pricier than other yum cha options, but the serving sizes and quality of food explained that away. Would highly recommend as a must.

Food was good here..service is excellent. We ordered a variety of dim sums and happy with the quality. The dessert was amazing with the right balance..the only issue is probably the kids meal as the fried chicken lacked flavour and crisp. Follow for more @cloverbakesnz

Thank you for the personal touches added to the service. Much appreciated. And thank you to the young lady who provided much of the service throughout the night. She had a very pleasant nature and paid close attention to detail. Service from beginning to end was exceptional. We had the Nectar Menu and it was divine with just the right amount of food. The clear crabmeat soup was my favourite. Wide range of drinks on offer. I love rum so had the Jade Dragon. Well worth the price and would return to have it again in a heartbeat. Husband had the House Beer which he enjoyed.

Very yummy traditional Shanghai Style Chinese food. The seasoning is not too strong and the portions are moderate, so you can enjoy many dishes. I particularly recommend the xiao long bao(小籠包), which is the best Chinese restaurant in the CBD.

The Yum Cha flavor is decent, but the Peking duck's quality doesn't quite measure up to what it used to be years ago.

Staff members are friendly, courteous and helpfull. Some are attentive and some aren't so much. We ordered glutinous rice dish, and we waited for 1hr before being told that the kitchen forgot to make it for us; this is after our attempts to to asked about the dish earlier and we were only told that it'll take 10 minutes - every time we asked, without any follow up from their side. Food is a bit too bland for me. The dishes are going towards fusion rather than pure Asian.

One of the most fancy Chinese restaurant in town: Baiju ice cream is a must try (it has the pleasant Chinese white wine aroma but taste totally like ice cream; love the lamb, soft crab and scallops; rest are average

Finally had a chance to try Huami. Light taste, not oily. Peking duck was great, although the skin can be crispier. Dim sum comes in three pieces. The truffle prawn dumpling was good. Service can be a bit better.
