Beautiful food. Very fresh and generous serving of king salmon. Very friendly staff. I requested sushi rice on my salmon bento box and no issues made unlike other places. A nice little gem.

Perfect warm lunch for a cold day. Had the udon with breaded prawns as they ran out of tempura but they were very apologetic about it! Also had the chicken bento. Very simple and the food arrived quickly.

The food was exceptional. The service was very good. Will definitely become a regular spot for us. The chef was lovely and came out to serve our dishes. The food was hot, well seasoned, perfectly balanced and the portions were much larger than I expected. The sushi was fresh, the tempura prawn was to DIE for.
Relatively kid friendly as they had sushi, edamame beans and the drinks from the cabinet.

The Bento Royal Oak is a real gem and a pleasure to visit and grab a quick bite to eat at. My favourite is the ginger pork donburi, but other family members have had the tofu don and the chicken don and all are beautifully presented, a good size and completely delicious. The spring roll and kumara ball starters are also very tasty and beautifully presented. Complimentary roasted corn tea is a great touch and has a subtle and lovely flavour. Staff super polite, service very quick, prices very reasonable - all in all a great place to eat at, and one I really enjoy going to.

Our go-to place for Japanese food. Made to order and prepared in minutes, chicken, salmon and pork katsu here is top notch. Highly recommended if your in the area or passing by. If only the music was a bit louder to add to the atmosphere rather than being so quiet like a library, but nothing wrong with that.

This is one of my favorite Japanese place!<br/>When I tried teriyaki something at the other Japanese outlet, That was just too sweet. So I couldn't finished that.<br/>But Bento's teriyaki sauce is full flavor and well blended with salmon. the salad on side is always fresh as well.

Extremely disappointed with my chicken katsu Don. I got it takeaway. Lacked in flavour and was very bland that I had to add my own sauces at home. Unfortunately, instead of the chicken being fresh and crispy, the coating was so soggy which showed the poor quality of the coating/how it was cooked. I don’t put it down to having it in a takeaway container as I only live 5mins down the road AND I have ordered this dish many a time (including takeaway) from other restaurants and never has it been so wet. My brother ordered the tofu Don. He made the same comments re lack of flavour seasoning. Will not be returning.

They have the freshest Japanese food in Royal Oak. Simple menu but cooked to perfection. Charles is very friendly and accomodating to our request. This is our "go to" Japanese takeaway. <br/>My favourite is the teriyaki salmon bento box. Highly recommended.

Service: upon walking in we were greeted with service so friendly I can’t help but give this place a 5/5. The service here is better than many fancy restaurants. The guy at the counter was so down to earth and observant to detail that I literally don’t have the heart to say anything negative about this place.<br/><br/>Food: great! It has your typical Japanese menu items and they do it very well. It’s not the stereotypical Japanese food as everything is a little different. I loved their Katsu curry and their tea! It’s self serve tea and the waiter told us to try some and it was surprisingly really good. <br/><br/>Atmosphere: cosy, quiet, clean. <br/><br/>Go for the service.

We came here on a Saturday night. It was important that there was a vegetarian option on the menu. We ordered Chicken Teriyaki, and Salmon Teriyaki boxes. The food was brought out very quickly and the service was very friendly. The food was tasty and filling. I’m sure Bento will become a regular place to dine.

LOVE this place. The consistency of food is absolutely phenomenal. I've read a lot of negative reviews here from a couple of years ago and am convinced it must be under new management. We love the staff here, the man on the counter is very kind and patient with customers. I've been here probably a dozen or more times and each time has been as great as the last time. This is my regular Japanese place. My usual is the Chicken Katsu on rice and it’s always fantastic. I’ve tried a few of their other dishes and they’ve been excellent too. The service is super friendly and the food comes out quickly. I love this place.

I've been a huge fan of this place ever since my first visit back in 2015. Their bento boxes are full of delicious sides and the homemade teriyaki sauce tastes and feels super healthy. I wish they sold their sauce separately. More beverage options would also be nice, though.

If you want good quality Japanese food and amazing service for no more than $20, you are in the right place.<br/><br/>I love coming to Bento and try their various dishes. Their udon noodle soup has got all the ingredients you need for a fine dining quality meal, they even give you 2 pieces for free!<br/><br/>There is also freshly brewed (Barley?) tea that you can drink as well. I would highly recommend.

Usual place for ordering Japanese takeaway $25 for a teriyaki bento box and a pork katsu udon noodle, food has good flavor the pork could of been a bit better , staff are friendly and portions are a good size, I recommend ordering in advance as they usually have a 20min waiting time.

Went here on a Wednesday night with my wife as we we're craving for some Japanese food and could not be more impressed! We ordered Salmon Teriyaki donburi, chicken teriyaki donburi and side of takoyaki. Service was fast and friendly, the portion sizes were HUGE, and the price was beyond reasonable! Their teriyaki sauce and takoyaki were a lot better than other places we have tried.I will come back to try their spicy pork bento next time. Very satisfied!! good job Bento!

Bento is consistent. They are friendly and cook every order fresh and we've never been disappointed. Their decor and location is simplistic but their food good. They offer great value for money and I highly recommend them for a take away or quick meal outing

We've lived in Royal Oak for 5 years and often driven past Bento and wondered if it was any good. Well, wonder no more! This place is a little gem and we're so lucky to have it in our neighbourhood. Super friendly family run the place and the food is fresh, delicious, authentic and well priced. Their bento boxes come with gyoza, spring roll, tempura, sushi, salad, rice and your choice of meat/fish. Cute interior for dining in or you can takeaway. The sushi has generous, fresh fillings and the teriyaki salmon is delicious. Dangerously close to our home to make Bento a weekly takeaway treat!

Seen this place several times when passing by so decided to give it a try! <br/>Inside the restaurant is nice and simple. They have lots of hot Japanese dishes, bento boxes as well as takeaway sushi packs. <br/><br/>The service is really good, we were welcomed and seated as soon as we walked in. The young man was happy to give us some recommendations from the menu, he was also kind enough to put the heater on as we were feeling a bit chilly.<br/><br/>We ordered the teriyaki chicken bento, spicy chicken bento and tofu/vegetable bento. We also got some gyoza's to stare. Totalling to $45 for the three of us it worked out to be very reasonable. The food was really tasty and well portioned. I would recommend the bento for a variety of what they have to offer, as you get a little taster of lots of things. <br/><br/>Worth stopping by for a quick, wholesome Japanese meal!

Found this little shop while looking around for dinner the other night. Popped in & was welcomed. Ordered a Salmon Bento & teriyaki chicken & avocado sushi. Order took around 10-15mins as they had to make the sushi from scratch. Salmon Bento was nice & refreshing, quite enjoyed the condiments and salad it came with. Was missing a bit of that Japanese Mayo but overall was a treat. Sushi was delightful & filling. A good meal all together. Might have found my new local sushi spot.

The bento boxes for lunch are great value for money. They are about $13 which is cheap compared to some other places charging $20 upwards. <br/><br/>I got the chicken Katsu bento box. The chicken was a little bit dry but I guess that's because of the coating. The salad was refreshing and there were plenty of condiments on the dine in tables.<br/><br/>This place has always been quiet and when I do eat here I am usually one of few customers. Maybe most people take away instead of dining in. I would love to see this place take off

This place is awful! They are actively rude to the customers and super stingy! Very bad! No wonder its always empty. The atmosphere is terrible due to the owners palpable passive aggression. It might be ok for takeaway sushi but no deals thats for sure!

I get takeaways from here pretty regularly. Great value, especially their bento boxes - only $12 and you get so much! You can't go wrong with their Chicken Katsu Bento. The sushi is always fresh and delicious too :) The menu has been updated recently too which is great. The service isn't overly warm, but overall good and polite as long as you are.

I absolutely love their sushi! they always seem to sell a set amount of sushi they can sell fresh. <br/>The first time I tried their sushi, I didn't expect much from a local small takeaway place that didn't look particularly new. <br/><br/>But it turned out to be my best found for takeaway in the area ever! Wish they had a bathroom though. <br/>Also tried their teriyaki bento box. it was also very delicious!
