This had been our regular local Japanese restaurant for years. Friendly owners, reasonably priced and great food. We often eat in with the family. Sushi, rice dishes and donburi are our favourites.
The staff here are amazing, always super polite and happy to make changes to the meals if we would like (e.g extra mayo) and the food is always delicious! I recommend Bento Royal Oak to everyone.

I ordered the chicken katsu udon noodle soup & takoyaki. Both dishes were very tasty! Great flavours and good value for money. Staff were also very friendly. I would definitely come back here :)
This is one of my favorite Japanese place!
When I tried teriyaki something at the other Japanese outlet, That was just too sweet. So I couldn't finished that.
But Bento's teriyaki sauce is full flavor and well blended with salmon. the salad on side is always fresh as well.
Great food - we had the chicken bento and Japanese curry. Outstanding service with extra little touches. I would highly recommend this hidden gem
They have the freshest Japanese food in Royal Oak. Simple menu but cooked to perfection. Charles is very friendly and accomodating to our request. This is our "go to" Japanese takeaway.
My favourite is the teriyaki salmon bento box. Highly recommended.
Always came here take away some sushi for lunch. Lots of choices and ingredients seems very fresh. Staffs super friendly and helpful. Environment nice and clean too
Stopped in for a quick sushi lunch and found the service friendly and the sushi delicious and fresh. They offer complimentary chilled lemon water and roasted corn tea (which they told me is very good for the complexion) served in cute Japanese tea cups.
The staff was very kind and our food came out quickly. The meat to rice ratio was better than most places with similar price. The food was delicious and looked identical to the images on display. I will definitely come here again to try more of their items!
I was in such a grumpy mood after a long day that I didn’t think anything could lift my spirits…. man was I wrong! Absolutely delicious chicken teriyaki don at an affordable price. Perfect meat to rice ratio. Great service too. Only downside was that they were really busy which took away from the atmosphere 😅 I walked away on such a high 😁
Amazing gluten free spicy chicken don. The chef took time to explain what changes he made for GF and it was delicious. Great quality and portion size for the price. My new go-to.
Beautiful food. Very fresh and generous serving of king salmon. Very friendly staff. I requested sushi rice on my salmon bento box and no issues made unlike other places. A nice little gem.
Perfect warm lunch for a cold day. Had the udon with breaded prawns as they ran out of tempura but they were very apologetic about it! Also had the chicken bento. Very simple and the food arrived quickly.

The food was exceptional. The service was very good. Will definitely become a regular spot for us. The chef was lovely and came out to serve our dishes. The food was hot, well seasoned, perfectly balanced and the portions were much larger than I expected. The sushi was fresh, the tempura prawn was to DIE for.
Relatively kid friendly as they had sushi, edamame beans and the drinks from the cabinet.
If you are looking for japanese food that is clean, fresh and well prepared, look no further. I have never been disappointed from ordering here. Super friendly staff is always a plus👍
The Bento Royal Oak is a real gem and a pleasure to visit and grab a quick bite to eat at. My favourite is the ginger pork donburi, but other family members have had the tofu don and the chicken don and all are beautifully presented, a good size and completely delicious. The spring roll and kumara ball starters are also very tasty and beautifully presented. Complimentary roasted corn tea is a great touch and has a subtle and lovely flavour. Staff super polite, service very quick, prices very reasonable - all in all a great place to eat at, and one I really enjoy going to.
Our go-to place for Japanese food. Made to order and prepared in minutes, chicken, salmon and pork katsu here is top notch. Highly recommended if your in the area or passing by. If only the music was a bit louder to add to the atmosphere rather than being so quiet like a library, but nothing wrong with that.
