Popped in for a quick bite with my entertainment book ( surprise surprise ) the pizzas are good but the highlight for me were the polenta chips. Really yummy but cocos cantina ones are still the best

Service was terrible, we all ordered together and one meal didn't arrive till we had all finished, despite trying to eat as slowly as possible so this would not be the case. Portions were stingy and pizzas were burnt. Will not be going back.

Worst pasta ever-! I have ordered 2wood fire pizzas, fries and one carbonara. Then I ve served yucky instant pasta, 2 pizzas and one fries. Piazza was just ok but microwaved frozen pasta was so yucky-!!!! They d better put some effort into food instead of interiors.

A group of us went there just because we were next door at The Gardens and the weather got awful. Service was okay. I ordered a fettuccini with meatballs. The meatballs were cold so I had to send it back to the kitchen. Floor staff apologised and brought my food back a short while later. It was still not warm enough. I felt a little rude to send it back. I also ordered a takeaway prosciutto pizza only to realise they had put CORIANDER instead of wild rocket when I got in the car. I went back to ask about it and the chef told me it was rocket. Rocket and coriander don't even look or taste similar. One of the floor staff got in and told me I could keep the pizza and gave me a refund. I didn't want the pizza. Floor staff was nice enough to offer me the refund but the chef really needs to maybe think once again before he replaces any green leaves? Just speechless.

Heard they had changed the PIzza back to thin and crispy, i was sceptical but was a great pizza, crispy and full of flavour now - my wife who hadn't enjoyed the last menu totally enjoyed this one and the mouse was awesome, super friendly and professional staff - no idea what other reviews were on about as we checked before going back after the last time  when they had changed the pizza . Loving it going back heaps.

Underwhelmed.  Greasy calamari, casual slack service with plates just dumped on the table.  Saw the chef eating food off plates in the kitchen that were going out for customers with his fingers before they went out.  Pizza was nice tho.  Would not return.

I been there this monday with my freinds, Service really nice, Freindly staaf and even All food was superb and delicious. Rich chocolate mousse so awesome and pizzas great. I already decide, I am going to celebrate my birthday in berretta next year.

Not that great. When we arrived the place seemed confusing, the girl who invited us in told us our seat was "down there" and did not take us and show us where. We sat at a table at the end. A waiter took our order quite quickly which was good but he wrote nothing down. Another waiter bought our drinks down... well my husbands. They forgot mine. When the pizza came out i double checked mine was Gluten free and the waiter had forgotten to tell them. So my husband waited patiently before starting his pizza until mine was remade... Well i saw the chef pick the toppings off and transfer them to the gluten free base... My pizza was then rushed and the base not cooked well. The pizza's were bland. I am glad we did not bring our kids also as when we went to pay there were Playboy/naked girl pics plasted on the doors and walls on the way to the toilets. I had seen people with kids in there earlier so thought maybe it was kid friendly. On the plus side they gave us our 2 drinks free for the inconvenience of the Gluten Free pizza. Won't go back nor recommend.

Average pizza with scarce topping, even the margherita had hardly any cheese on it!!! Kids chicken pizza had about 4 tiny pieces of almost "shredded" chicken. Terrible service from the waiter, not interested and hardly friendly seemed to be more interested in his waitress girlfriend than serving us . Also pizza menu not clear. Should list ALL ingredients espepecially with all the different dietary requirements of people these days. shame as the setting is very nice but could be much better. Wont be in any rush to come back here.

Went here for a friend's birthday. Waited for almost 3 hours to receive my food order, reminded staff at least 4 times, plus other people from the party also had the same problem and complained multiple times. Only got my food when almost all of the guests already left. Very disappointed. Will not come again and will not recommend to anyone.

have loved this restaurant but change of name and quality.. worst food ever... thick pizza base with smear of tomato paste and a basil leaf.. broccolli salad .. a large piece of burnt broccolli in a thick gooey sauce.. it was renowned for its delicate pizzas but this was inediable heavy dull food ..do not go there.. we all came away feeling sick
Michael
Has rebranded to Beretta but seems to have the same staff and a similar menu (pizza and sangria).<br/><br/>I was a bit suspect of pizza as a dinner choice because being dairy free (lactose intolerant) has sort of sucked the fun out of pizza for me. However, the pea / goats curd / courgette pizza hit the spot. <br/><br/>Bonus points for the staff who were awesome.

Went here for the first time in a while this weekend and found Blunderbuss has changed to Beretta, with a new menu. Was a bit disappointed, since they now have thicker puffy pizza bases - used to love the old thin, crispy style. Don't think I will go back in a hurry.

One of my favourite pizza place in Auckland.<br/>Thin and crunchy crust, tasty toppings, great flavours. The duck one is my favourite.<br/>The desserts are also amazing and don't forget to try their delicious sangrias!

1st time visit to Blunderbuss, at lunchtime, today. 10 x workmates celebrating a birthday and an upcoming wedding. I have to say that I was so disappointed in the service. We have 1 hour lunch break and got there at 1pm. We had to call someone to take our drink orders........which then took 25 minutes to arrive.........Halfway through our lunch break now and not ordered any food. Finally!!!!!!! Lunch order taken. Another 15/20 minutes to arrive - for most. Order has been taken down wrong and so one of our party was still without their meal.We then had 10 minutes to eat and get back to work.ONCE the food arrived it was 'very nice' but you cant go far wrong with a salad......... Nothing in the service or the food would make me want to rush back there again AND I definitely wont be recommending Blunderbuss as an eating destination.Soooo disappointing.

Although an attractive and lively eatery - the service was more then lacklustre - long waiting times to be served as well as poor follow up for previously ordered drinks. Although the staff seemed friendly and enthusiastic we had no designated waiter meaning a few of our orders were lost in translation - a mistake that will mean I will not be returning.

This is one of my favourite places on the shore. I love their pizza flavours and the desserts are amazing. My number one spot to catch up with friends.

Id heard good things about Blunderbuss and we were heading to Taka for a late dinner. We both love pizza and ordered the funghi pesto and Margarita, but all of them looked delicious! The thin bases were super crisp and yummy, the pesto pizza had a little too much rocket for my liking and definitely not enough cheese. The margarita was seasoned well and was cheesy all the way to the edges.<br/>I normally wouldnt choose sangria but the waitress recommended the fragola sangria and it was so good! So fruity and refreshing which was perfect since it was such a hot day.<br/>
Toru Tres
Great food and love the sangria drinks. Kids menu is good to have as well. Loud music is a bit of a put off (maybe just me being old) but otherwise it is a good place to have pizza and drinks.

Came here last Friday for a early dinner. First impressions weren't the best for a number of reasons. Firstly, we sat at the front of the restaurant but as all the staff are at the back we weren't served. When we went to ask for a menu we were told we had to sit at the back of the restaurant, which was fine but ideally we would have been told when we first arrived. Secondly, seating within the commons is a little confusing, as is which counter you order from, but this is probably because it was our first time. <br/>Service was fairly friendly and very fast after ordering. For drinks we had a hot chocolate and a beer, which were reasonably priced. For mains we shared the quattro stagioni pizza, shoestring fries and pollo fritti. All the food was lovely and far better than we had expected! The pizza was lovely, nice and crispy and reminiscent of pizzas you get in Europe. The fries were nice too, nothing special but the truffle salt made them definitely. The fried chicken was great and the chipotle aioli a perfect dip for them. Portions were bigger than we expected too so had more than enough food.<br/>Overall we had a good experience. Food was very good but the service at the beginning let it down slightly. We probably wouldn't come again just because the menu is quite limited for mains, being just pizza, but we enjoyed it nonetheless.
Thegreeats
Thin, healthy (relatively) pizzas !<br/>Their entrees are also delicious<br/>Casual but attentive staff and a very urban atmosphere <br/>Love the side lamps and old school chairs when you walk in!<br/>They often have grab one deals so watch out !
Iain
Loved this place, the atmosphere was great and the pizza was sensational. We even went next door to the bar for a few beers afterwards! Will be going back😁

I've always hold fond memories of this restaurant, because of the awesome company I had every time I visit the place.<br/>Blunderbuss is always busy and buzzing with people, especially during weekends. <br/><br/>Their most stand out item from the menu has to be the sangria. There is a variety of them all extremely pretty to look at and even better to taste. They are very well balanced, sweet and refreshing, just the right amount for people who are not into alcohol or otherwise.<br/><br/>We always order a few different pizzas and their shoestring fries with aioli. Their fries are nice and crunchy, which pairs well with the aioli. Although not a particularly special dish, but very moreish to fill those gaps while waiting for the pizzas. <br/>We HAVE to order their duck and lamb pizzas, which never disappoints, full of flavour with lots of meat on a thin crust.<br/>We tried some of their vegetarian options and they're also lovely and full of veggies.<br/><br/>Admittedly, it is not a restaurant that sells the best pizzas or drinks, nor is it the cheapest or has the fanciest venue. However, it's lively atmosphere is our go-to place for an awesome night out and a decent feed that will not burn a hole in our wallet. Will visit again and again.

Food: Pizzas are ok. Ive tried most of the pizzas in the menu and the one I found best was the Anatra. Pizzas are all thin crust and there are hardly any toppings on them. Although I loved their show string fries :) <br/><br/>Price: Thin crust pizza and hardly any toppings for $19? Thats a bit expensive for what I got and I expected more than that.<br/><br/>Service: Hardly saw the waitstaff. Only saw them when they took the order and dropped off the pizza. I had to ask for water. <br/><br/>Atmosphere: Nice atmospheric area and really great outdoor seating area. Its located in a really great area, literally a minute walk from the beach. Love the theme going on in the whole restaurant. Seating is very easy and never had trouble with that. <br/><br/>Overall: Wouldnt really go back. Had a couple of events here and the menu hasn't changed. Doesnt seem like id be missing out on much.

Visited this place with my wife and son for dinner. Pizza's and cocktails really good but service was a tad slow. Looked like not enough staff to serve all tables as the waiters were super busy but can't fault the food..... It was great! Will be back!
Jeremy
Decent food but I was unlucky enough to have been assigned a waitress who made the experience a terrible one by calling my table rude for raising our hands to get her attention just so that we could have our orders taken..then proceeded to lecture my table about the proper mannerisms of restaurant behaviour which is apparently to just wait till she got to our table...extremely poor service in that regard which is a shame since the food wasn't bad at all.

Great atmosphere, delicious food and friendly staff. <br/>Great use of space with a nice indoor/outdoor flow. Small plates perfect size for small eaters or great to share and try a few different things.<br/>A hidden gem of Takapuna.

We love Blunderbuss, it's our local pizza place and we often come here because we always good food, friendly service and it's well priced. <br/>Recommend!
Stephanie Ly
Walking in I could already tell the place had a slightly weird layout. You have to walk pass the kitchen and go right around the corner to find someone and get seated. The décor was alright it had a pretty chill vibe, I really like the use of shelving as walls and also double as storage for ingredients. The music was at the right level for background sounds and talking. Staff were pretty friendly and we were seated immediately.<br/>The food is pretty decent; my friends and I got the Anatra, and fungi pesto pizzas. We also got three small dishes the fried haloumi, calamari and shoestring fries all pretty standard but the pizza's were really good the bases are just how I like them crispy and thin! Would I go back? Meeeeh I'm not sure. The pizza's were good but not worth the price.

After craving pizza for a long time, I decided to purchase the Grabone voucher and head over to this place to try it out.<br/><br/>Upon entry, I notice that the setting is quite nice (being close to Takapuna beach) with pleasant looking decor and the staff were very friendly. I ordered the Lamb and seafood pizza and was very pleased with the quality of the pizzas. They were crispy, fresh and delicious! Overall, I would say that the combination of a good setting, service, and tasty food makes Blunderbuss a place to try out!

I came to Blunderbuss last week for the first time in a while, but I used to go there all the time. The meal was nice, between the two of us we shared a the duck pizza, polenta crisps, calamari rings, and meatballs - and then I had mousse for dessert. It was nice, but the menu literally hasn't changed since they opened at least as far as I can tell. I get disappointed when places change it constantly and I lose a favourite, but I feel bored by this menu. I also feel like the small plates rely a bit too heavily on fried foods, as yum as they are. I also wish that we had dedicated waitstaff - we kept being asked the same questions by various waitstaff which is mildly annoying. I know this review has been mostly about things other than the food but those tend to be the things I remember about dining somewhere if the food is unremarkable. Time for a shake up Blunderbuss!

Guys - turn the music down. We arrived with a group of 9, but unless you were sitting next to the person you wanted to talk to you had no chance!<br/>What's more, a lot of the punters were older, but the staff played lots of music which was likely inappropriate - hip hop etc. My partner's grandparents HATED it. Perhaps not the restaurant's ideal clientele but still, way too loud.<br/><br/>The drinks were good - tap beers and good wine which arrived appropriately. But then, after just arriving, we had our drinks arrive and then pushed for food by the staff who were young and inexperienced. I wouldn't go there for an extravaganza of high quality service.<br/><br/>The food was alright. Good quality ingredients. Perhaps slightly bland but decent. They were fairly inventive with their ingredients (figs on pizza for example). The prices were fair I thought too.<br/><br/>There were no mains available that was not pizza which is fine as it is a pizza joint, but just as FYI.<br/><br/>We had the duck pizza which had good ingredients and nice base, but a little lacking in pizazz. The lamb pizza was actually pretty good. <br/><br/>The food did arrive too quickly and didn't arrive together. It reeked of lack of training in service, even though the food itself was fine. <br/><br/>They were also nice enough to let us bring in a cake.<br/><br/>All in all, I wouldn't rush back. It just wasn't a relaxing night out...the seats were uncomfortable as well! It could be good if the restaurant was managed better as the location is good. <br/><br/>A bit rough maybe, perhaps I'm just in one of those moods!

Love love love the pizza and sitting outside in the sun. The pizza has the most exquisite crispy thin base. The pesto funghi is our favourite. Yum selection of drinks.

Went here once after wandering around Takapuna looking for a feed and wasn't disappointed. Pizza was great, and a nice atmosphere for those who don't mind sharing long ding benches with strangers! I'd go again :)

Good Pizza, nice atmosphere, the staff could be a bit more enthusiastic about working but other than that! it was a rather nice experience, lovely fries ! #g1

Tried their pizza and fries and both very good. They somehow missed my order but make up for it by giving me one pizza for free. Good atmosphere, customer service and food. <br/><br/>Customer Service: 8/10 <br/><br/>Food: 9/10<br/><br/>Atmosphere: 8/10<br/><br/>Date: September 2015

Blunderbuss is a nice place to come to with friends with a chill atmosphere and good food. The pizzas were nice but the bases were quite thin so not very filling.
Tanya Kerr
I come here often, especially for their pizza. My favourite is the lamb/date pizza. The pizzas have thin-bases and just enough ingredients to provide a beautiful combination of flavours. I also LOVE their sangrias - the best sangria i've ever tasted to this day. Served in little glass jars, they always go down a treat. <br/><br/>The service here is good, the staff are bubbly and inviting - even from inside the kitchen. Paired with a fun atmosphere (especially at night), this restaurant in the commons is definitely something to tick off the bucket list.

Blunderbuss is one of my favourite places to come for pizza and a casual meal. The pricing is really reasonable, and I love the thin bases of the pizza. <br/>The polenta chips are soooo yum!! The aioli sauce it comes with is so good! <br/><br/>I had the roast vegetable salad which was so good! There was just the right amount of feta in it. And there were bits of caramelised onion which complemented the other vegetables really well.<br/><br/>I've been to blunderbuss quite a few times and will continue to return.
Elizabeth Pondling
Ate here with some friends and had such a blast! The way the pizzas were placed on the table was so unique, I've never seen anything like that before! Its a real casual environment so i would dress up too much. The staff are also chilled which can be a down point for some but as a couple of ladies heading out to eat, we weren't too fussed about it :) Good pizza options!
Xtina Cassidy
It was alright... Have been there a few times nothing really to complain about but nothing amazing, I wouldn't go there unless someone had preplanned a group hangout there
Maddie
Visited Blunderbuss a few weeks ago with my partner and some friends. The staff were extremely friendly and we were seated fast and ordered some drinks. The sangrias were really nice, the pizza was really average. They were so bland, it was just a small amount of pizza base sauce, cheese, a few toppings and a large amount of dried oregano sprinkled all over the pizza, the oregano was all I could taste. However our starters were really nice, especially the calamari. Would happily come back for drinks but might give the food a miss.

I visited Blunderbuss through work, as they were lovely enough to offer us drinks and a meal to try in exchange for a write up on our magazine. We sat outside in their sunny courtyard, which would be an amazing venue for a summer evening events. It was late afternoon so it wasn't very busy at all, and we got chatting to the staff and they were so down to earth and friendly. They recommended their strawberry sangria for us to try, along with the prawn pizza and chocolate mousse dessert. <br/><br/>The sangria was up there as one of the best I've tried, not too sweet but still super refreshing and fruity. The pizza had a healthy topping to crust ratio, with a yummy chipotle sauce and sweet chilli jam. The dessert was a perfect end to the meal; light and fluffy, not too rich and packed full of flavour. <br/><br/>An amazing dining experience overall! Definitely made even better by the lovely staff. It's on my list to return to with friends if I'm ever over on the shore again. <br/><br/>Sarah Reynolds #challenge

Honestly really disappointed....got here for a birthday party tonight with which a table outside was booked 2 weeks prior. Turned up and they told us someone else must have booked earlier.... (Incompetent manger) we were then seated inside and had a few drinks while we waited. When we placed out orders the waiter missed half the table and didn't bother to clear any of the drinks jugs that were piling up around us. I ordered meat balls... Pretty simple. Took 1.45 to arrive at the table. It was meant to be an entree but I gave up waiting for service. My wife ordered wine to which they said they have no wine glasses with and tried to suggest drinking out of the bottle because it was Saturday...: I didn't feel like paying. This place was a joke, the staff were rookies. This place needs a shake up

Meeting with friends for lunch - the type I knew would be hankering for a cool beer in a relaxed environment... Blunderbuss came to mind - exactly that sort of vibe - modern, slightly industrial, relaxed.<br/><br/>I was contemplating out loud, that I was stuck at the first hurdle - two different sangrias had caught my attention - well, that then became the tables choice - a carafe of Rose Sangria - vino rosata, peach, blood orange, raspberries, rose water... unexpected but a really lovely casual lunch choice!!!<br/><br/>polenta crisps - garlic parmesan with cumin aoli<br/>crispy calamari - lemon aoli<br/>and - of course<br/>Pizza!!!  <br/>great base - crispy - perhaps a polenta grain in the dough - providing a little texture in the base (its all about the base!) and great choices of toppings....<br/><br/>coffee to wake us all up again - perfect.
LouLou
Great tasting, crispy gluten free pizza bases...really hard to find this in a pizza place and they certainly deliver! Flavour combinations are also great. Add to that the live music (depending on when you visit), eclectic decor and friendly staff and it's well worth the visit.
A Libra Perspective
Pizza might be the most magical food on the planet, and Blunderbuss does it well.<br/><br/>I've been here twice with friends and had the Tirolese pizza, Meatballs, Polenta Crisps, Fried pizza dough, Tiramisu and Red Apple non alcoholic drink. I don't have ID so can't try their alcohol (even though I'm nearly 30).<br/><br/>The atmosphere is perfect and They offer free WiFi with a code.<br/><br/>Room for improvement: I hate the pizza rack, and their salt and pepper shakers were empty.<br/><br/>Everything here is good, and the handsome blonde boy with the mustache is yummy too.
Annie Ren
Have always heard of artichokes, but have never tried them. Now I've finally tried them on one of Blunderbuss' specialty pizzas. Lovely artichokes and prosciuttos and thin crusty bases. Would definitely go again for their desserts and other pizzas!
Katie Anne
Blunderbuss is real good to go to with a few people so you can share sides and pizzas! Flavours were amazing for everything and seems healthier than if you were to eat pizza elsewhere as they have thin crispy bases. Doesn't leave you feeling sluggish after! Nice balance and lovely service
Angela (A Style Collector)
Blunderbuss is my favourite place to eat in Takapuna. I love the decor and vibe inside. This is my go-to place to eat in the area and I've never been disappointed. <br/>I've been here for my birthday and have recommended it to friends and family. <br/><br/>I love their sangria. Even the non-alcoholic ones. My favourite is the red grape but all three non alcohol sangrias are great. We always get a carafe of it. <br/><br/>For the pizza, I love Anatra! The duck, leek and fig & onion jam combination is amazing. I like their thin pizza bases too. If you're after a lighter pizza you may like the Tirolese. <br/><br/>Also don't skip the small plates. Get a variety of it! My sister and I are obsessed with their crispy calamari. I've told people this is the best one I've had in a long time. Their polenta crisps and meatballs are also great options. You also can't go wrong with shoestring fries. A pizza and fries are always a good combination to me. <br/><br/>As for dessert I've three. My favourite is the Italian chocolate mousse followed by the pizza dough balls. The tiramisu was okay but it came in a jar and you had to mix it together for better flavour. <br/><br/>As for the service, I've always been impressed. The servers know when to come and we've never had to wait long for the food. <br/><br/>For my family of 4 people, without desserts so just pizza, carafe of sangria and a bunch of small plates I paid around $120 which I think was fairly reasonable as we left very satisfied.

Blunderbuss is located in central Takapuna. The interior of the restaurant is very inviting which has a unique, comfortable atmosphere.<br/><br/>I ordered both a coke (valued at $4.00), shoestring fries (valued at $7.50) and a funghi pesto pizza (valued at $18.50). The fries were nothing special but were said to be unique as they were sprinkled in "porcini salt" which only indicated a cheap alternative to putting the price up. The pizza was delicious with a thin crispy base, fresh ingredients and a subtle hint of truffle oil that added to the overall taste of the pizza. There was no coke available as they had run out which was disappointing but did not affect the overall experience.<br/><br/>The waiter who served us was very friendly and went out of his way to make sure that my friend and I were well looked after.<br/><br/>Would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for friendly service, good quality food and an enjoyable dining experience.

Im a word - Wicked. <br/><br/>Pizza can at times, be massively unhealthy. Blunderbus have mastered, and I mean mastered, the balance between healthy and tasty.  Menu has traditional favourites alongside more creative pizza toppings for the more adventurous. Odd mix between Italian and Spanish but hey, it really works. <br/><br/>Staff are friendly and knowledgable and the place has a great modern design and cosy atmosphere. Great place to relax, unwind and eat some freaking great food. Did get quite busy but serving food as great as they are thats no surprise. <br/><br/>This place really sets the standard.
Cherries_inthesnow
Had a work lunch there last year and was pretty impressed. Definitely a step above your average gourmet pizza joint.<br/><br/>Tried some sangrias to start with and though not the most traditional, all 3 tasted refreshing and had lovely distinctive flavours.<br/><br/>Ordered the Anatra for myself, and shared the Frutti Di Mare and Agnello. I found the crusts had just the right amount of crisp and the toppings plentiful and fresh. The Frutti Di Mare was quite simply one of the best seafood pizzas I've ever tasted.<br/>The Calamari, Flatbread and Shoestring Fries were also cooked well and were non greasy.<br/><br/>Adding to this was the attentive service and relaxing surroundings; the bright and airy interior made for a calming experience.<br/><br/>If I'm ever in the North Shore, I'll be sure to revisit and indulge. :)

Had such an awesome experience here on saturday night, such a fun vibe, The staff are fantastic and clearly love their jobs. the sangria was so delicious, and the pizza's were by far the best pizza i have ever had. A definite 5/5.
Laura Ransome
Came for lunch. Ordered fries, calamari and lamb pizza. Was a lovely atmosphere and the service was alright. The chips were average, the calamari was soft which I loved but maybe a bit more seasoning. The pizza on the other hand I didn't enjoy, it's partially my fault cause I don't know my cheeses but whatever was on there tastes like the smell of a sheep farm with every bite which put me off but they should have mentioned it was blue cheese on the menu cause a lot of people are used to it being plainly stated. Maybe if we ordered a different pizza it would've been an better experience
Les Seiler
Great atmosphere and fantastic good flavored pizza. Great service. Chocolate mousse and macadamia divine. Great place for small group of friends.
Rhiannon Baldock
I have fallen in love with Blunderbuss. I absolutely LOVE it. Tucked in the main streets of Takapuna, Blunderbuss has an amazing vibe as soon as you walk in the door. <br/><br/>I have been two times, within close proximity of each other as I was dying to take my friends! The pizzas are just as they should be, crisp bases with amazing but simple toppings; if anything I found the lamb and duck pizza quite similar, but the flavour was delish none the less. <br/><br/>The polenta fries are so so crispy, they definitely needed the addition of Parmesan, parsley and the aioli based sauce that came with them - but as a person who wasn't so keen on polenta, this is definitely converted me. We also shared the fried haloumi with smoked portobello, I have never had haloumi fried, but serve me haloumi in any way shape or form and I'll be happy hahah very tasty! I wouldn't say no to the idea of adding a few more pieces of haloumi to the dish though. <br/><br/>P.S the sangria is so so delicious, I'll be back soon Blunderbuss!
Michael Davis
Great service, food was fantastic and child friendly. Especially enjoyed the pork belly and haloumi small plates. Service was fast and staff are friendly.
Mikayla Plaziuk
Amazing food love the atmosphere and the staff were really good and helpful. Love the different pizza flavours something you wouldn't get anywhere else!
Marilyn Moore
Huge pizzas with really different toppings and not overcrowded ....this is how traditional italian pizzas should be. We had the special which was a prawn pizza, this could have done with just a few more prawns to amp up the flavor but otherwise yummy, we also got the slow cooked lamb and gorgonzola which again was scrummy. We took our 3 yr old and they cater really well for children with a kids menu and colouring in. Service was great and the food came out quickly. The sangria tasted awesome but I noticed they used cask wine in it so they lost a point for that!
Renee
I love the presentation of the place, however the pizza was very average and bland. I ate a whole one and still felt hungry.. However I wasn't prepared to spend an extra 19+ on another pizza. The drinks were really good though!
WeiTing Ashley Shyu
one word: YUM! one of the best pizzas I've ever had. i was on a healthy diet roll and it went out the window when i had lunch with my friend here. but hey, SO worth it. + the pizza was actually pretty healthy in comparison to fast food joints. It tasted so fresh and full of flavour. There was even the option to have a gluten free base as well! The fresh mozzarella on our pizza was deeeeelish; just the right balance of flavours left me feeling so satisfied! Highly recommend. Great staff, great menu, great food. Calamari was awesome too. Perfect place to catch up with friends.

went in on Saturday evening for some pizza and a few drinks.vibe outside in the courtyard area was great.good music and lots of people around.Duck pizza was outstanding.
FoodiePhysician
We had the funghi and duck leg pizza for two people. Casual and relaxed vibe, decently priced and with good portions. It was pretty good. Would be happy to come back again.
Daiana Cordoba
I've been to this pizza restaurant twice and both times it has been great. The honey base it is delicious, thin and crispy. A few flavours to choose from. Not to be missed.
Maryana Hamilton
Delicious sangria in all kinds of flavours, perfectly cooked pizza, and a mouth-watering array of small sharing plates. Will keep going back over and over and over! Would be even better if the plates weren't so chipped though.
Holly McGoram
Wow.... Love this place, the service was casual and friendly, the food was delicious had the pizza's and meat balls, Highlight for me though was the sangria and the chocolate mousse. The bar tenders are not hard on the eye either, me and the girls will definitely be back;-)

My boyfriend and I are pizza lovers, and they definitely do their pizzas well! The atmosphere is nice and plenty of seating indoors and out. One thing is that it is on the pricey end compared to its proportions , especially the side menus but all the worth. They are delicious as always. Service is superb, polite, friendly and fast.

Visited December 2014<br/>So great to find a kid-friendly restaurant that serves great food for adults as well. The kids meals are really reasonable at $12.50 and include a drink, pizza and ice cream for dessert so we felt like we got good value for money and the kids didn't ask for more food when we got home!<br/>We thought the pizza bases were nice and crispy and the toppings were really tasty. We had the lamb and the margherita pizzas to share as well as some fries and the iceberg lettuce salad. We actually felt quite healthy! The Sangrias are fresh and come in carafes with jars full of fruit and ice instead of glasses. Nice touch. Staff were friendly and good with the kids, we'll be back for another family night out soon.

Went there for dinner with my partner the other night. Service was good, staff was real friendly. We ordered our favorite pizzas but not sure if it's because their main chief is on holiday or left, our pizzas weren't as good as they used to be.   We ordered Anatra and Agello, there were hardy any ingredients on our pizzas except for cheese.  The Anatra pizza was missing my favorite onion sauce. It was a bit of a disappointment. Especially when they forgot one of our mains.<br/><br/>Will go back again to give it one more go!

been here many times but lately the quality of the food has gone down hill. The food doesnt have as much flavour as they used to and the pizzas lack ingredients now - now they now almost just like a cheese pizza. Not sure if we our friends will be back again anytime soon.

Went there last week. Service was good and ambiance was great. <br/><br/>The pizza's are light and the flavours are good, quite a fresh taste to them. But the dough was too soft. Almost crepe like. I'm not sure if this was by design but it took away from the pizza.

Excellent ingredients, nicest gluten free options ever found.<br/><br/>Great desserts! Keep on the good food guys! <br/>Totally recommendable!

Good pizza, great staff, nice setting for a relaxed bite to eat. Will definitely be back.

Well I came here last week to take away two vegetarian pizzas with a grabone voucher.<br/><br/>I would say that I was overall impressed by the taste of the pizza. It had a style that was particularly different from other places by being flatter and more polenta finished. So it was crispy and flavorful, though the mushroom pizza was lacking mushrooms, think they used only one large one for one large pizza.<br/><br/>The lady there was also friendly. <br/>The place looks clean in the afternoon.

My wife and another couple had a particularly poor experience at this establishment on a recent Saturday night. We were seated at 7pm and were drip-fed (at completely random intervals) three small plates and three relatively small pizzas over the course of nearly 2.5 hours (enough time to enjoy a 6 course degustation at fancier joints). As the the restaurant was not even full to capacity, this was a complete joke. Our increasing frustration and reminders to staff began to dominate our conversation and effectively ruined our evening. <br/><br/>Apart from the crispy calamari (which was just average), all of our dishes were disappointing. The shoestring fries were soggy and heavily over-salted; the signature pizzas, on brittle and insubstantial bases, were lazily put together and light on the topping; and the tap beer was flat. A special mention is saved for the seafood pizza, which was so salty that it was almost inedible. <br/><br/>We left hungry, annoyed and generally disappointed. So, unfortunately, none of us will be back.

Went for dinner last night at Blunderbuss on a recommendation of a friend and boy where we impressed. We shared a jug or sangria, the lamb pizza, polenta chips and prawns, all of which were fantastic however the standout dish was the chocolate mousse-wow! Will be making this our new date night spot

I met friends here on a busy mid week night just before Christmas. They had already ordered Sangria when I got there but it didn't arrive for at least 20 minutes and I could see it sitting on the bar while staff stood around talking. When it did arrive we had to wait another 10 minutes for glasses to arrive and a waitress to finally take our order. They then gave our fries to the couple sitting next to us on a long table, which they gave back after they had eaten some and I wouldn't be surprised it the waitress went around the corner and bought the same bowl back to us. I thought the pizza was overpriced for the amount but flavour was good. When we went to pay the bill had many extra items on it, turns at the other couple at our long table were put on the same bill. They had paid for their part but I found this unprofessional and mistakes could easily be made. The place looks great despite the odd layout but the staff were more interested in socializing with each other than doing their jobs. If you want style over substance then this is a place for you.

Very good food and service. Great atmosphere too. We had the prawns, and a pizza. Delicious.

Living in Takapuna I looked forward to our first visit thinking this maybe our new regular hang out. Unfortunately it all went very wrong. 4 pizzas were ordered however only 3 arrived. We asked where the 4th pizza was just before the others had finished. After numerous questions we were told this had been forgotten by the kitchen, and they would correct the error and get my pizza going. I wasn't overly excited about eating on my own, so we all ordered another around of drinks. When the final pizza finally arrived, I was told after finishing my first piece that I was eating someone else's pizza. I told them to just leave it, the staff seemed to be getting everything wrong. <br/>We finished and left - the result. Paid for more drinks than needed due to staff error and waiting, ate the wrong pizza, no offer to make up for the error, and paid for a more expensive pizza than the one I received. I did not make a fuss - good customer service should not require for me to make a scene to correct your wrongs. <br/>Unfortunately this was a waste of money, won't be back as there are better places in Takapuna.

I Have been to Blunderbuss on a number of occasions (in fact on a weekly basis since it opened) the food and atmosphere are phenomenal, the staff equally so. I Love the place so much that on Friday 13 September I held a function there with 20 people. We were very well looked after despite the place being packed and everyone in my party raved about how good a night it was. <br/><br/>SO a huge thank you Blunderbuss crew, you made my Night. Will see you guys this week sometime :-)

Love this place so much, have been twice this week already! Great food, great value, great sangria and great atmosphere. Also have to mention that the staff are just wonderful, although busy they are still so friendly and attentive. Look forward to the next visit!

Loved this place, the food was outstanding!!! Had the sangria, tried 3 of the white wine ones and loved all of them, Rose was my personal favourite. The place was so busy and the atmosphere was electric, I was blown away by the fact that the staff still managed to give outstanding service and smiling the whole time when they were so run off their feet. The manager gave us some lemoncello on the house when we finished our desert, what a wonderful gesture to top a spot on evening! Definitely recommend this place for a fun night out.

Had dinner at blunderbuss in Takapuna <br/>Really friendly and attentive staff and the food was great and well priced too. Tasty pizza a lot lighter than the normal cheese overload at most pizza places good variety of snacks and the "specialty sangria" really good will definitely be back yum.

Went to Blunderbuss for a relaxed lunch out looking for a good pizza fix in Takapuna. i have to admit their pizzas aren't your typical pizzas and toppings, instead they have a more fresh and unique approach. You can order a gluten free base made from chickpea flour for an extra $2. <br/><br/>We ordered the pollo fritti to start with and then the Funghi Pesto pizza to share. We ordered drinks too and thought lunch was a great light meal. The pizza base was very crisp and thin, but with the fresh flavourful toppings it was nicely matched. Pollo fritti was really good (but second place to my favourite fried chicken from Mexico ;P)<br/>The sangria was served in a jar well decorated but very sweet.<br/><br/>Blunderbluss is a place to go for an easy light meal. If you're feeling like some Italian pizza but don't have the commitment to a heavy cheesy topping.

Blunderbuss is situated in the incredibly cool 'The Commons' precinct just off Hurstmere Rd. It is a clever space, with tables, booths, a bar area, and outdoor seating in the courtyard. <br/><br/>The food is delicious - gourmet pizzas, Italian-style entrees and delicious desserts. My personal favourite is the lemon meringue jar. I also loved the seafood pizza - fresh, crispy, and not too heavy on flavours. The mushroom and haloumi entree is a delicious taster to share. <br/><br/>The cocktails are also amazing - sangria jugs are perfect for the beachside location.

Had drinks and pizza on a Friday evening with few workmates. Given the size of our group we were originally seated indoors at the large tables however we requested to be moved outside as it allowed more room to mingle. The staff were happy to oblige. <br/><br/>Ordered a few of their sangrias by the carafe($29) and all were declared delicious. The duck and mushroom pesto pizzas were tasty with a nice thin pizza base. The polenta chips were also a winner! <br/><br/>Very relaxed and buzzing atmosphere outside which adjoins the courtyard at The Commons. Definitely recommend.

Nice pizzas although choice is limited... Each time I've been there one or two things on the menu was unavailable which is annoying however the quality of food is good!

Finally somewhere to get a good pizza in takapuna...<br/><br/>We had the pleasure of dining at blunderbuss last week, we we're looking for cheap and cheerful for a week night meal and that's exactly what they delivered..<br/>The place was quite busy for a Wednesday night, and very loud, which I think added to the atmosphere... (Definately not the place for a romantic dinner tho)..<br/>The staff we're very friendly and seemed to really know what they were doing while still seeming very casual with the service which seemed very in theme with the whole place..<br/><br/>We began with a few tapas and a jug of elderflower sangria which was pretty tasty although a bit sweet for my taste..<br/>The tapas can out in a timely fashion<br/><br/>Smoked mushroom and haloumi was amazing, the meatballs were tasty (tho super rich) and the chicken was just want you want from fried chicken, crunchy and moist in the middle..<br/>We then shared a tirolese pizza (prosciutto and rocket) which was light and tasty and crispy, not drowned in sauce and cheese so it felt quote healthy and we didn't find ourselves feeling greasy and disgusting after unlike a certain pizza palace round the corner which shall remain unnamed for now haha..<br/>We shied away from desserts this time tho the dessert doughnut was very tempting..<br/><br/>The only blemish on the evening I think was the chef seemed to really love his bell in the kitchen, this is a real issue for me... From years of hospitality I have worked with many chefs that seem to believe their bell is a magical devise that has the power to make waitstaff magically appear at the pass, if they're not there then maybe they're busy chef, and you just need to wait a bit, they're not ignoring you they've just got other things going on.. <br/><br/>Lay off your bell and we'll all have a much better time..

There were several families and groupd of friends when we walked in which was a good sign but we left feeling a little disappointed by the new addition to Hurstmere Road. The pizzas were OK but certainly not huge when you consider Sals charges only $5 for a massive slice. The dessert was probably the best bit but it felt like we wated to get it over and done with a bit. The waiter also felt far too friendly and sounded like he'd been attacked by a dictionary of "chummy" corporate lines to feed us. We'll be going elsewhere for pizzas.
