This ice cream is the best - and the owners are so lovely and friendly! I watched a lady drop her ice cream on the floor and they just handed her a new one and cleaned up the mess. So kind. I had the white choc n Raspberry...YUM and on my second time the Hokey Pokey...not normally my choice of flavour but got a taste of it from the lady selling and it was TDF. I can see why this is a favourite of so many! Yum!!

Nice butternut squash soup and toast for $12. Of course the gelato and sorbet is good and you have the choice of waffle cone or cup. Great place to sit and chill out and watch the world go by.

Good place to relax and enjoy the view with a sweet little treat. Great location and good selection of gelato. The waffles are basic and pricing (considering the location) was decent 🙂

I tried scoops of taro & Irish coffee ice-cream. I couldn't say it was good. The flavours were not a bit of taro and of Irish coffee; it was just the tastes of sugar & artificial flavour and it was only the colours that made me feel they were taro & Irish coffee.

Dropped in for some ice cream before a walk along the viaduct. The girl at the counter didn't look too happy to be there but service was adequate. We got watermelon and taro flavored ice cream in a cone for $7. The taste is very refreshing and similar to Melona fruit blocks that you can find in some supermarkets. Slightly pricey but a good place to come and enjoy the sea view.

After a long day on Waiheke island we decided that is was time for gelatis all around. The service was a bit slow and a bit unorganised but we enjoyed the chocolate and lemon ice cream They were delicious and really hit the mark. There was quit a few tables to dine it and the shop was very clean.

Pretty average bland gelato. Came for a late night fix, disappointed. Would definitely brave the lines and parking issues for the far superior Giapo's at the other end of Queen street next time.

This ice cream is far superior than Movenpick. Feels like proper Italian ice cream which any person with minimum food knowledge is aware it's the best ice cream in the world. Tiramisu and Apple pie flavours are highly recommended.

The ice cream is nice and I would rate 3.5, but this place has a great view so I give 4.0. The service is great, there were quite a line when I went but the waitresses worked real quick. Will definitely come back!

Mmm, just thinking about this place gives me warm fuzzy happy feelings. Been here a number of times as a late night sweet treat. Noted a few people have complained about their service. In my experience; service has always been pleasant. Beautiful location at the ferry terminal, ice-cream generous scoops ... what more can you ask for?

This used to be one of my favs, but over the last few visits I've found their gelato to have icicles throughout - so not a great experience overall. I do like their egg nog, zabaglione and hokey pokey flavours - even more so when the staff can source the flavour from the back if not on display. That experience did make my day!

I really wish that I could give this place a higher rating, I really do. I have visited this place so many times that I've lost count. They offer some unique gelato flavours and they themselves never let me down. I just don't get how so many bad reviews have popped up about their service but nothing has changed. I have mentioned so many times in previous reviews about the importance of 'service' and this is a great example. Great food, bad service. Everytime, I just feel like that they just want my money and don't care much about my experience. Yeah, they offer you samples, but once you've chosen your flavour it's pretty much get out the door. I really hope that their service improves because the gelato aren't bad. Give this place a go and fingers crossed that their service would have been improved.

In search for a late night sweet treat, our party of 5 came across Valentino's and decided to give it a go. Amongst us we ordered gelato in cups, cones and with the waffle, from the large and fun range of flavours. We all enjoyed our choices, and there were no major complaints about the food, except that there is better gelato to be eaten elsewhere. What really needs a mention though, is the service. Frankly, it was terrible. No greeting from either staff member, only impatient, fed up looks while we were deciding. Staff did not greet any other customers who followed us either. Upon noting other waffles before us were served with chocolate sauce, ours came without, and was roughly dumped on our table. When I asked for some sauce, the waitress only gave me an unimpressed look, said nothing, and filled a ramekin which she again, roughly dumped, but on the counter. The gelato was good and hit the spot, but the service missed the park by miles. I understand it was late at night, but we were pleasant customers and didn't deserve the rude service we (barely) received. If one of our companions hadn't been so intent on satisfying their gelato craving, we would not have stayed. I can only hope it was a one-off, and that the staff were having bad days. However I will not be returning to find out.

I Scream For Ice Cream. Oh dear, the pressure was on, the queue was out of the door. What flavour shall I go for, oh no. I'm next, its...........Passionfruit and Cherry please. Phew, that was hard choice to make. Now to find a table, and sit and watch the the world go by while I enjoy my ice cream !!!!

I've been a regular customer for their ice cream since 2009. They are one of my favourite spots for after dinner dessert in Auckland Central. Big servings, decent pricing and always a changing range of interesting flavours. My last visit was the weekend before last, with a couple of friends. I decided to be boring and got a single scoop of hokey pokey in a cone - it was yum! My favourite though, is their rich chocolate flavour.

This is the worst cafe ever. The coffee was really bad and the gelato was worse. It was too sweet and tastes artificial. Costumer service is the worst. The only good thing about this cafe is the location.

Waffle gelato was really good we like it but what we didnt like are the staff they made us feel unwelcome the moment we walked in the place. She gave us our order and my husband was trying to ask her something and then she just turned her back on us. We would come back for the waffle and the gelato but not for the experience of what the staff made us feel.

The prices of the gelato here are pretty reasonable, I mean who doesn't love cheap eats? Also the weather has been continuously hot because it's summer. It was really hot one day so we happened to pass by this place. My gelato had 2 scoops, cotton candy (I think?) and dark chocolate. There was a long queue but the line was moving pretty quick. We didn't wait too long and the service was fast and efficient. The product itself was really nice, pretty good for a scorching hot day! We sat outside for a little while admiring the view of the ferries going back and forth. The gelatos were a little sweeter than what I had expected but it was really worth it. Defo coming back!

I try the waffle and two scoops ice cream today. The waffle is burnt and not soft, the ice cream is just okay, not very tasty, a little bit too sweet. The waitress is not suave. But, it has great location, on the ferry building.

It was the day we went to the street eats. We were not satisfied with the food there, so we walked around and found this ice cream store. We picked a seat besides the window and it was rather enjoyable to sit in the sun. I was surprised with so many flavors here, especially when I saw the watermelon one. I was hesitated to try, but my cousin had a taste. However, we were still fond of the classic flavor not because the new flavors didn't taste good enough. My cousin grabbed a vanilla ice cream on the top of a hot waffle and I grabbed vanilla and hokey pokey with waffle as well. The hot waffle was amazing. It was a great experience to feel the cold ice cream an the hot waffle in your mouth. Sooo nice! My aunty's got a chocolate cone, which was also nice. Great visit. Hope to get the waffle again!

Not a value for money that's for sure. My husband and I went on our date in months and ended up at Valentino's Gelato. We were the only people having food there. We ordered French toast and bacon and eggs. The food was tasteless, bacon tasted like a salty cardboard. Toast was cold and tough. Eggs were overcooked. All ingredients itself were not fresh. Worse than a cheap take away food...:( Very disappointed. We were going to order ice creams after our meal, but the service was very rude we didn't bother. Store manager started loudly shifting chairs while we still were having our food. Even that the cafe wasn't closing. We felt really unwelcomed. If they don't like cooking why bother to offer food at all? Not going there again.

Me and my partner came here Friday morning for a well deserved breakfast! We ordered two bacon and eggs (scrambled) with tomato and toast and waffles with hokey poky ice-cream and two flat whites. We were the only people in for breakfast at the time. Our two flat whites came out one at a time. But they tasted alright. No worries there. Than after about 15 minutes the Breakfasts came out. they were at very poor standards. The bacon tasted like old beef jerky. Cold and chewy. It smelt and tasted old. (Which is caused by heating up already cooked bacon a few days old) and the half tomato was burnt on the bottoms and fridge cold threw out. Scrambled eggs were average and the packet toast was the best part. After waiting another 15 minutes the waffle came out, thank god. It was yummy and the Icecream on top was tastey! Being a chef I could guess what could have happened. Maybe the chef was away and the kitchen hand or front of house had to cook the meals. That's what it seemed like. I'm not one to usually complain but what a waste of money. I hope you pick up your food standards for the sake off your business.

Their gelato is so delicious, I could it a three scoops per day! The chocolate one is so decadent. The scoops are huge. The best ice cream/gelato in New Zealand fir sure and the location couldn't be better.

I think this place is overrated because of its harbourside location. The taste was ordinary, nothing special. I would not recommend this place. The Movenpick ice cream in Devonport was much nicer and better quality.

Hands down, the best gelato and sorbet in Auckland. The chocolate is to die for. Lots of unusual flavours, made without cheating, ie, no mix-ins. Also, with the loyalty card, a large double scoop works out to $4.95.

Quite simply the best gelato you will find in this town or any town in this beautiful country we live in. Valentino's continue to ask the question...."I wonder what that tastes like? " This is usually backed up with a silver or a gold award from their peers in gelato snd ice cream competitions. Kit- kat or Isotonic are the ones you want try at least twice;)

If you're in the city why not try a refreshing sorbet by the waterfront? Valentino's is situated conveniently by the ferry terminal - and they do excellent gelato and sorbet. The staff are super friendly and their coffee is quite decent too. I'd highly recommend their passionfruit sorbet (it even has the fruit's seeds!), though they're all delicious!
