Review Denny's - Auckland Central

There Alot of mixed reviews seen on here. Don't be expecting a fine dine experience. But you get what you pay for. With all the inflated prices around us I was pleased with what I got. It's more of a down to earth feel eating here, nothing extravagant but a hearty meal.

As always with Denny’s the food is on the pricey side but it’s a good once in a while restaurant to go to. The food was quite nice to have, I especially enjoyed the curly fries. I reckon the burger could have been a little better but not as bad as some others have been. The oreo milkshake, as always, is to die for and is well worth the $9 you have to pay for it. Great atmosphere, and great for the family (it is a family restaurant after all). However I will say it is a little difficult to get to by car, you have to make sure you are in the right most lane to not miss the turn off into the parking. I believe it’s free parking as long as you eat at Denny’s. We just parked a little further away and walked which was easier for us.

Came for breakfast. Honestly these meals are huge. You get value for money here. We took home alot of left overs and containers are easily accessible for customers. We were promptly seated and given a nice booth. Our order was taken quickly and food arrived with no delays. Its quite busy here and I think that's really great. It's quite tired looking decor but is made up by easy parking great friendly staff and good food. Smoothies and milkshakes were YUM!

Best burger trending for me a little on the pricey side being $26 but it's well worth imo. And waffles are to die for!

It's good for a Denny's. My deep-fried snapper was full of scales though, which was a bit yuck. The food is a bit inconsistent in quality

Food was good. The curry served was indian curry. I got a shock when my fish and chips was served. The portion was big. Service was good though we waited quite a while for our food to be served. Family restaurant.

Like the other reviews here, I do think Denny's could use more staff. While the entrance (by the stairs) kind of smells like urine, and the quality of the food isn't amazing, I do think the portions are massive and you get free refillable coffees (I had 3, no regrets) with a breakfast item. Strangely enough, for whatever reason, I do enjoy coming here. It's quiet, open late night and the FOH staff are friendly. There's something about Denny's.

Nothing flash but relaxed atmosphere, lovely waitress. Food was average, as expected.

The food was tee-lee-zious 😋 Service was on point. Friendly staff. The only negative thing about my visit was the carpark (underground carpark) omg it was nek level STINK i ended up wit a super bad migrane the second we left the carpark coz of the smell. Pls team, someone needs to get down there and clean that damn carpark.

Treated my girls to late Dennys dinner and they were not disappointed. Our waiter was lovely and the food was good. Also the toilets were so clean and my youngest said they smelt good lol. was a great end to our great day out in the city.

Food was great - serving sizes are quite big. Service staff were very friendly :-)

All their dishes are good and well priced for 24x7 restaurant. Typical American ambience.. I like it. Pan cakes and those poached veggies are awesome.. but the meats are just cooked so well it doesn't taste commercial. Post drinks, always my go to place. Thanks guys 😊

It’s been about 3 years since my last visit to Denny’s in Auckland CBD. It definitely wasn’t known back then for their service but came through tonight and noticed a massive change. The customer service was exceptional! Friendly waitresses, Fast delivery of food, tables were cleared quickly and the waitresses would check in regularly. Keep it up!

This place is amazing. You can drop by and order from an absolutely huge menu any time day or night. Generous portions at reasonable prices. Friendly service, roomy, comfy couches, beautiful view of sky tower. Convenient late at night after gym. Personal favourite is Millenium Burger, been getting it for over 15 years.

We came here during a really busy night the other week, every table was packed. But we really appreciated that our waitress (I believe her name was Lucy?) worked really hard and seemed to be doing about 30 things at once!! We got our desserts fairly quickly despite how busy it was, and it was yum!

Service was useless, was made to try fit 3 ppl on a 2 person table. When there was 10 tables not occupied...

If I could give a 0 I would! Absolutely useless management, went in Sunday morning for breakfast and literally walked out because the staff were so useless. Island woman telling people to wait in the waiting area needs some customer service training, and whoever is managing this place is failing hugely. Seriously trying to fit 3 people at a table of 2 and saying “see if you can fit” ??!! Ridiculous

Absolutely terrible waiting times. Was told 30 mins service turned out to be 2 hour wait (serving 4people)

The best curly fries in Auckland and pretty cheap for the portion size as well. Their portions are huge and their dessert menu is pretty good. Not a big fan of their vegetarian mains.

Loved the dessert.....yum. We went at 3am its open 24 hours good crowd and amazing place to hangout.

Absolutely terrible! The first time I visited they took forever to come take our order. When the server did take our order, he took forever to serve us and when he did he only bought one item of the two that we ordered. And it was a simple pumpkin soup. <br/>This time when I visited again I ordered a Denny's Benny Breakfast with bacon and they served it with ham instead even after the server had written it down and confirmed it with us. The second time when she did get the order she got the bacon but then they swapped the scrambled eggs what i asked for, with eggs sunny side up. We had to send back the order a second time again for them to get it right.<br/>Getting a hold of any server is difficult and once you ask for something like a simple glass of water they almost never get back to you. <br/>Their service is always lacking something on every visit. :(

Worst worst Staff specially this waitress called dipana was very rude to us. The manager didn't even bothered to step into our banter and see what went wrong infact he was watching us from the cash counter and asked that waitress to let us go while we walked off without having food. Poor hospitality service.

I don't mind Denny's lol - I think people go in with waaayyy too high expectations. It's a family style diner, come on now! We had a lovely breakfast, staff were friendly enough. Great place for those with kids as plenty on the menu for them.

So we ordered our shakes at 1030 and asked for onion rings and chicken sticks at 1040 after we got our shakes, we did not get them till 1130, so we went to pay and said we don’t want them anymore as we waited for more than 20 minutes, server said she rang the order in at 11:15pm so it was only 5-10 mins and we have to pay for it. I am from hospitality industry as well so I payed for it as this happens once in a while, but this has happened to me 2nd time at dennys. Service staff and management is lazy, and so is the kitchen staff. Does not take that long to fry off 6pcs of food.

Probably the worst service i have ever got in whole of newzealand... Still waiting on my food while writing this review. I havr been waiting for over 45 mins now for the order placed and the floor staff says she is following up on the order. When i had a word with the managers he ends up telling me it wont be long before our order comes in MATE its already late get your stuff together, you cant take freaking 50 minutes for 3 plates when there arw like 4 tables in the restaurant when u have almost 7 staff working. Very dissapointed and probably never gonna return... GET YOUR STUFF TOGETHER GUYS...

Visited Denny's with a work colleague for lunch. Nice atmosphere nice food and friendly waitress. The seating was comfortable with a lovely city view out the window. Reasonable price too. Will come back again for sure.

We went here for breakfast, and it was actually really good. Had bacon and eggs with a hash brown. Generous serving size. The hash browns are the flat type (not the compressed slab type), and they were made just right. The coffee was good too. It’s got that American diner vibe, but with a Kiwi touch. The staff seemed a bit over it, but I probably would be too!

This place was very pleasant to eat at, the staff were nice and kind and the food was so delicious. Served piping hot and huge portion for the prices

Another feed after a night out! <br/>It was surprisingly good for the low expectations I had. The bangers and mash were good and the cheese toastie had heaps of cheese where the cheese was oozing out. <br/>The lady that served us was nice and I honestly don’t know why this place has such a bad rating:( <br/>It’s Denny’s not a fancy restaurant and I think they serve pretty good comfort food for what it is!

Been coming to this dennys for years mainly after a night out to have their mushroom & cheese burger + curly fries & a feijoa smoothie.<br/><br/>And then obviously just like everyone else on here we order the hot chocolate fudge cake + ice cream & the macaroon brownie.<br/><br/>Must say, the burgers aren't too bad but the dishes are a bit too pricey for the quantity served.<br/><br/>Never had any issues with being seated & staffing.<br/><br/>Plus it's opened 24 hours, so that's a bonus ✔️<br/><br/>If you're up for a decent meal after 2am when nothing else is opened, instead of going to a fast food drive through... Dinner date to celebrate Denny Setiawan presentation of his thesis today.. went to Denny’s which open 24 hours only to get hot fudge chocolate, the famous dessert in here.. like this cos it’s big and yummy.. omg can stop eating this

orders were wrong, sauce was missing and when requested the server brought it out and his thumb was in it, he left it on the table and wiped his thumb on his pants as he walked away. Curry dry with no sauce, chicken over cooked and dry, waste of money. Other Denny’s restaurants are MUCH nicer! Go to maccas and save your money!

24/7 open is the best part about this Denny's resto. Decent food but the service is pretty dull. I would appreciate if they provide the tables with water like 99% of the restaurants do. You have to ask for water again and again if you drink a lot of it like me because they will get you 1 glass everytime. Pretty awkward and annoying honestly. It is a bit overpriced as well considering the taste is just mediocre. I do swear by the curly fries and the dessert menu though. It's totally value for money.

Horrible vegetarian food for dinner especially. Ordered vegetarian nachos and it was just a tiny terracota pan of capsicum and tomoto with not even fully melted cheese, and avocado sprinkled over the top of corn chips for $12 dollars. Menu makes it seems like you get a cooked meal of capsicum, tomato and salsa. Spend 3 dollars more and you can go across the road to Mexicali Fresh and get double the size, double the ingredients and double the quality. When I confronted the manager he was rude and defensive. Absolutely terrible dining experience, do not try.

This Denny’s been here for like forever!! Good late night eatery in the CBD. Personally we don’t have any complaints about their food or service yet, touch wood. Its diner kinda food, so dont expect top notch service. They do loyalty points as well and have underground carpark. We usually order their chicken wings, surf&turf and curly fries.

Nice little booths! I'm always attracted by the breakfast menus but I decided to try a meat lovers skillet, the curly fries as always and a banana split! The portion was really big as per usual! A bit too much cream on the banana split but had several hearty scoops of chocolate and vanilla ice scream! The skillet had roasted potatoes, scrambled eggs with mozzarella cheese and little cut bits of bacon and sausage. Although they weren't amazingly seasoned, they were still hearty pieces of meat goodness which I appreciate. The curly fries are always a winner for me though! Denny's will always be my go to for a meal when I'm looking to eat my heart out and not wanna risk getting a tiny expensive meal.

Not sure why this place has such a low rating. I think people’s expectations are too high when it comes to a 24/7 diner 😂 They have a high turnover of waitpersons so it’s best to be direct with what you want, where you want to sit etc. because chances are, the person serving you is new. Their food fills you up, tastes alright, however the main meals do cost a bit too much. I normally just settle for a burger or toasted sandwich. I highly recommend the salted caramel banana pancakes they are really good 👍🏼 will always visit dennys for a late night feed, love the chill/quiet/unsnobby atmosphere - which is rare to find in the city.

Horrible service. When my friends and I stepped inside, the lady at the front seemed pissed off at us and gave us a tone to just wait at the front. She then lead us to a table without even so much as a hi or a how are you. My friends and I thought it was too hot so we moved to another table. When we were ready to order, the lady came over and we told her that we just wanted the curly fries to share, she seemed pissed off again, like she was thinking how ridiculous it was of us to order curly fries between 5 people. But that was literally all we wanted. She then moved us back to the table she originally placed us in even though there was no clear reason as to why. There wasn’t any reservation and the place was hella empty?! Such a rude worker. My friends and I left immediately after she took our order and she clearly saw us walking out the door but didn’t care enough to ask us about our order. Will never come back here.

Came here and had chocolate mud cakes for dessert one night. Thoroughly enjoyed the dessert and found the service and cleanliness of the restaurant to be good. Would recommend it as a good omace for dessert.

Our expert was good, service from friend staff who took our order was great. Because we wanted our food to come out altogether waiting time wasn’t too long which was good. Friendly staff members apart from a certain someone, However we enjoyed our meal & service.

Rate it a 2.5/5 stars.<br/>Had brunch here and this was slightly better than other Denny's. Portion sizes for the club sandwiches was pretty decent.<br/><br/>It was a satisfactory meal.

I really like the burgers here. They’re not oily, and the mushroom burger comes with nice crispy vegetables. The chips were also light, not oily. The pizza crusts are light, and we asked for cheese on top. The cheese was a generous amount, and I liked it a lot, it also came with a good amount of mushrooms. You also get an option to make your own pizza.

Staff here a very slow and rude and the prices are very high for what you get, its really only the kids menu that is semi-decent. Would not recommend..

The service is always so slow when they are busy but so weird how they are really slow when Noone is there too lol so I guess their work environment is really relaxed?? But deff a good place to go in the middle of the night you want to just get some food or drink (got a full bar) without seeing creepy people on the street as they are located inside of the building and on the first or seconds floor

Unlimited brewed coffee is one of my favorites! I always order the pancake & bacon breakfast meal and never able to finish it since the serving is huge. Pancake taste is 6/10. The top seller for me though is the curly fries and its dipping sauce and of course the hot fudge cake!

The place is equipped with very friendly staffs, and the best thing I had there was the hot chocolate fudge, must try it! And also the millennium burger 😋😋 pretty good ambience as well..😊

I like that this place has some form of parking but if you have never been to the parking before you may get lost and confused. It is a small walk from the restaurant but no problems at all.<br/>First impressions were that it was nice and clean and plenty of seating to chose from even though it was quite busy. We did arrive at about 10pm so be aware that this place is busy all day at any time. The waitress was very polite and straight to the point which I liked.<br/>The food was good, you get what you pay for amd the portion size is huge. It also came out hot and fast.<br/><br/>Ordered the pork chop, chicken stirfry and a breakfast.

Obliviously ready made food just heated, I asked to remove an item from the pasta dish they said it’s not possible. Bought me my order very quickly.

food was ok. nowhere else to go 2am on a weeknight. after ordering my meal asked to see thw menu again then honestly had to wait an hour or more to get desert. pretty ridiculous

Came here with some friends only ordering smoothies. You’d think you’d get them in a few minutes but we waited a good 30minutes!! I won’t be back any time soon.

Curly Fries - highly recommended!<br/><br/>I had the Vegetarian Breakfast, it was good. Husband had the Chicken Fajitas and said it was okay!  <br/>Their dessert menu was tempting but we were already full with the food we ordered so didn't have anything. I’ve been to Denny’s several times in the USA & wasn’t anywhere near as terrible as this one. Took a long time to get served even then I had to chase someone down , & they weren’t friendly at all. Ordered a bowl of fries & they were some of the worst fries I’ve ever had didn’t eat many at all. Came on Christmas Day for a quick bite to eat & they charged an extra $2 for staff working fair enough if staff were actually friendly & did their job which in this case they didn’t. Would never return.

Food is ok. I suppose you get what you pay for. No atmosphere and the wait staff are all just horrible. It seems like they really do not want to be there. You get free coffee with breakfast which I never received or was not even offered.

Gotta love a good 4am dennys run after a night in town. First time having the hot fudge cake and it was revolutionary honestly so yummy and curly fries were so good too

My first time back in months, lovely staff, casually Dennys, nothing has changed. Menu has been updated just a bit which was nice to see. Wasn't busy the night that we went, which made waiting time for food a lot less. Ordered a Cobb Salad which was new and was absolutely yummy, left full for the first time and not feeling yuck full lol

Was apprehensive initially given the reviews but recommended by mates and must say the burger and curly fries was amazing. 10/ 10, thanks Denny's

Loved the bacon pancakes with ice cream and extra bacon!!!! Cant wait to come back again. Amazing service as always. Love how its relaxing atmosphere and can enjoy a nice meal with friends.

My first impression here is always that the wait staff absolutely does not care. I could walk in butt naked juggling knives and their expression still wouldn't change (untested theory). I feel that the friendly American style is lost here in NZ which is a bit sad.We always come here on birthdays to claim the free birthday meal (with a paying adult) because I am a cheapskate and it's also awesome since I have a twin - two free meals! I noticed that since a couple of years ago, the menu has been cut down with lots of options removed. I guess no one was buying those. It is also a bit more expensive that I remember. The best part of the breakfasts is the big hashbrowns - I think they're absolutely delicious. Who can say no to friend potato? I got the big breakfast this time. In my quick decision I forgot to order a meal with a hashbrown - very sad, had to steal some from my friend. The pancakes were disappointing and rubbery, plenty of syrup to cover that up though. Generous amount of tea and unlimited coffee with their meals which is a bonus. Sausages used to be a bit different, now they're just not-much-meat-content typical kiwi cheap sausages which is disappointing. Poached eggs were not great - overcooked. Bacon was ok. Not a great meal but the portion is large, and I love that sticky, comfy diner feel that they have going on. I still like coming here because it's a chilled out meal where no one bothers you to leave and you can eat breakfast whenever you want. I'm on the fence, but I'll probably be back next year. We went here 21/10/17 and we ordered a millennium burger and also the mushroom burger and buffalo wings, it's prepay so means you go sit down and order and then get up again to go pay for your meal at the front before eating which annoying and a bit strange as though your a criminal and can't be trusted. My millennium burger was dry only could taste the patty we got given a vegetarian burger instead of the one we ordered the manager of the night noticed and came back promptly with the actual burger we ordered so she was really attentive which is why I give it a 3 but food overall was really bland as I always go to Manukau Denny's and the burgers have more taste.

My friend and I came here one Thursday night to have breakfast (as you do, lol). <br/>Staff were over attentive; just as we sat down we were asked if we were ready to order by 5 different waiters within 2mins. Yet when we were ready to order, there wasn't a waiter in sight. How lovely. lol. <br/>I ordered a salmon benny with tea and my friend ordered a French slam with green tea. When our tea arrived, I got a small pot of milk that was only 1/4 full (I always get a full pot at new lynn Denny's). <br/>The ciabatta was getting a bit stale as it was very hard to cut into. Salmon tasted off. <br/>Clean and tidy restaurant. However I did not enjoy my experience at this Denny's so will be sticking to the new lynn location.

Cant say much about the food but the dessert was great, especially the hot fudge cake and ice cream. The buffalo wings werent great, chicken was tough. The wedges were cold and tasted like they were just reheated. Dont like to dine here but its open 24/7 so i shouldnt complain much i guess.

Their hot fudge is the best😍 do try the hot fudge as well as the chocolate lava. Dennys have the best desserts and their pizza is obviously a hoot.

I like that they open 24 hrs and that they have tabasco sauce available even for a takeaway :) good to try if you're sick of other franchise fast food joints

Nothing ordinary though with my breakfast. Pancakes were fluffy and soft. Just the right amount of texture and thickness. It was served hot and fresh off of the pan. With that, my breakfast was amazing!

It was my first time at Denny's! Food here is grossly drenched in oil. The only highlight was the curly fries.  I would never be visiting a Denny's store ever again.

The customer ratings (between 1 and 5 stars) here on Zomato made us curious, so we had dinner there on Wednesday evening and gave it a try. We ordered Garlic Bread, Bangers and Mash, Pork Loin Steak and Hot Fudge Cake. The service was friendly, the atmosphere is okay, the food was okay too. We didn't like the thick dark instant gravy but apart from that, the meals were quite satisfying. It's not a restaurant we would like to visit three times a week but for to pop in once in a while it's a nice variety.

I love Denny's Curry fries but i will never ever come back to this hobson street store.<br/>I have ordered 2x curly fries and had to wait around 15 minutes. Even after that they packed unfreshed/Expired fries for me . Which wasn't eatable ....I did complaint about it online but no reply from Denny's :(

The food were very pricey considering. We loved the curly price. My friends go here for their fries.<br/>The staff were friendly and accommodating.<br/>The ambience is wonderful like what these chains are expected of.

Unimpressed...arrived here with 2 adults 2 kids, got taken past a heap of empty tables to one that was so wobbly you couldn't lean on it. After 10 minutes no one had approached our table so we left 🙁

Late night sweet fix. Gooey chocolate fudge cake with ice cream. So good when the Aussies come over they go looking for it. My Aussies that it ;-) great for anyone with pregnancy cravings I'm sure!

I go Dennys more than 10 years. This company has incredible skills about never grow their quality. Asian manager same last 6 years never smile!!!!! Food quality is poor not like in States.

What a poor service by those guys working there...... even though there was heaps of sitting available we have to wait for atleast 10-15 min.... dont know what they were upto.....no smile on face while serving. I think they need break....

Denny's is always a reliable place to get some good food, it might not be the best looking place to walk into but the food is good and its 24 hours which is handy.

Been here few times after leaving from work at 4 am morning the bset part about Denny's is its open 24/7 and serves big portion of american food. Food was ok.. Staff was friendly. Ordered burger it was good and tasty came with a large portion of fries overall it was worth for a money and it was a good experience .

The only comment that i want to make is that the staff have the most cheapest attitude, after making a person sit at the table make them wait for half an hour take the order no water nothing served and tell u to go pay for each dish u have on the menu ? If ur a takeaway joint yes. If you don't to know run an organisation at least learn to do service with some basic ethics. Please don't go to this restaurant it's utter waste. You will get so frustrated and will definitely not feel to eat after how the staff treat you.

The was so great I bought more than I should have. The burgers were and so was the pizza. Wouldn't mind coming back for another time with some friends.

It's Denny's late night, what else do you expect from this place? I ordered mu tried and true chicken wings with sweet and sour sauce and chicken club sandwich with curly fries. The chicken is drenched in sauce, most times overpowering but I'm sure they're assuming your drunk, so extra flavour is a must!! The club sandwich is a safe option, the curly fries are a SURE winner. Yes I'm basically giving three points just for the curly fries. Come here once every six months when you're sick of chargrill burger (just up the road) or when you're too drunk to get into sky city. Average food, but hey moron!...it's Denny's right?!

Is okay. Dont like their steamed veges! Sort of gross. I love the buffallo wings and satay chicken. Also the molten mud pudding is delicious. The strawberry milkshake too sweet. Fanta float is awsome. Curly fries rock. Nachos yummy

Sorry guys, tried to do it but I couldn't. I do walk past this place a fair bit, even though it is hard to spot the entrance, there is a lot of signage. I also remember Denny's in LA from a long distant trip to Disneyland which left a favourable impression, so thought I could do a quick comparison. Unfortunately first impressions weren't great. The entrance is seedy, with an unpleasant odour and a wall of shame as you go up the stairs. If the people on those photos are representative of their customers then I don't want to be dining here :-( Seriously who advertises this. The actual restaurant decor inside is quite pleasant and roomy, but it just felt like a tired airport diner with an old fashioned menu, so ended up going next door instead.

Fast food at its best , super fast friendly service 😊❣ foods your typical fatty food fix perfect for late night feeds after drinks . Good comfortable seating and no rush to leave which is great !

A normal joint for a hungry tummy.. food was OK.. but staff was good.. best part is it's open 24/7 so you could just walk in when's ever you feel like you wanna eat something..

American style food with huge portion sizes. The sides can be overwhelming if you are ordering one of the main specials i guess. We ordered chicken with side of veggies and fries. And some lamb dish with potato mash and veggies. Its good for a late night filling eat at a main location like Queen street.

This isn't gonna review the food because we didn't even get that far. We had trouble accessing their car park because after ringing the bell numerous times no one answered on the other end. So after finding a car park, we walked into the restaurant and stood by the podium with menus for more than 5 minutes while staff looked at us from the kitchen and did nothing. There was even a staff member assisting a customer with payment who left the desk and just walked right past us. When a staff member finally came over to greet and seat us she said sorry about the guys not wanting to come over to us - exactly what a customer wants to hear 😒 <br/>Then when seated we waited a further 10-15 minutes for ...nothing. No one came to take our order, let alone see if we were ready to order. In fact from the table behind us, one person went and grabbed the waiter to come and take their order. They obviously had more patience than us, however by this point we wanted nothing more to do with restaurant! So we left. No food, no sense of customer service. Extremely disappointing!

Very arrogant and rude people.They don't know customer service and answers arrogantly and rudely. duty manager does not know what he is doing.He can't even control their staff behaving arrogantly and just being useless. Ridiculous service.Will not go back again.

We were at this restaurant for a friend's birthday. Food came pretty fast but we were waiting for water to be served. We tried to wave at the attendants but could never get hold of them. Finally a lady came and we asked them if we can get water, she asked us how many of us wanted water. That's very weird because the first thing that gets served of a meal is water but it showed a very poor service because we were questioned how many of us wanted to drink water. Wouldn't recommend anyone to dine here.

Danny's doesn't offer that much in terms of variation but the food is nice enough. I often get an Oreo Shake cause those are soooo yum. I've ordered a variety of things but their fries of all sorts are pretty much always good. Pizzas are nice and the burger I last ordered was pretty good! They have nice desserts too! Restaurant is huge so often we come here just because it's convenient

walked in - waitress goes to me - 'table for?' that was the first sign to leave. second sign was when she mocks us for parking at the wrong car park. third sign when she just walks of without saying to follow her to our table. that was it. we left without causing drama. never again going back.

There was a lovely boy starting with A i think. He seemed like he was learning the ropes but his customer service skills were great. Impeccable smile and polite manner will definitely come back for that.

The food was good. I loved the wings and almost all the apps we ordered. Staff were nice but they took quite awhile to serve us our food. Overall still a good experience.

I like coming to this Denny's their burgers are very nice compared to the New lynn branch. The service is better too always nice people. However Denny's has gone way too expensive for what they are worth. Will hardly visit because the amount paid for isn't worth it. Oh and they need to have fizzy drinks available in jugs.

Such a bad experience! I and my friends went to dennys (city) to celebrate as we just completed marathon. My legs were so sore that I had to take another chair to put them on. The restaurant were pretty empty so I don't think it will affect other customer. One of the female waiters came to stop me and insist to put the chair back straight away. My friends explained to her that my legs are painful and hoped that she could understand, However she insisted to do that. So I had to pull my legs down in front of her and finished my lunch with full of pain. Personally I don't think an empty chair is more important than your customer, and I do think her action was quite rude. I will never come back again. I should have never chosen this place to do the celebration.

We went here to eat dinner because we were so hungry and we were at sky city so might as well. We celebrated my friend's birthday and got her the free meal for our dinner. The food was really good. Service was average.

Been there late night as its 24 hours open. Nice and well organized inside. Food taste was good. Service good. Parking is a issue here. They have space back little bit ahead.

Evening stop over after a concert. Ordered the breakfast menu, pizza bread to share was delicious. My two buddies went hard out with other delicious food from the menu. Atmosphere was kool, at ease and good amount of people. Apple pie is to die for, love it

I saw a Denny’s in Auckland on my second day, and I knew I had to go. Denny’s, while a chain in America is still delicious – a trait I was hoping the NZ branches would have. They had a special on at the time, buy 2 burgers, get one free. My friend and I, wanting to try as many of the burgers as possible, took this as a challenge and ordered the 3 to share. We settled on the Picante, Double super burger and the Millennium burger.

Food was good. Service was good. Waiting time was okay for the amount of people there at the time. Staff was kind and took all orders correctly.

I like how Denny's is open ridiculously late in the weekends. It means after a tough night out, I can cuddle up to some curly fries. Or the morning after, I can sidle up to a greasy eggs benedict. I do feel better, for half a minute. But then, my insides hate me and I feel gluggy for the rest of the day.<br/><br/>Still, if you're looking for an American diner type thing, Denny's has got it going on. The food is cheap so don't expect anything great! Curly fries are up there, though!

Been here twice. Once last year and was completely disappointing! Second time recently.. thought we'd be lucky but was even more disappointed. It's completely overpriced for what tastes like pre-cooked frozen meals! my partner bought the chicken satay kebab which consisted of 4 thin dry chicken kebabs, what appeared to be half a cup of white rice and an un-dressed salad for $27.80. I had curly fries (was okay) and the chicken pie, mash and vege. Would not recommend or even consider going back. Completely overpriced for bad quality food.

Best place for cheap eats, any time of the day or night! The food quality is fitting for what you pay for and the serving sizes are very generous! Hot fudge cake is my most highly recommended 😋

Even with Denny's reputation, we've always had a decent feed and pretty good service. The food is nothing spectacular but if you stick to desserts or sides you can't go wrong. Good for a late night lounge and somewhere to sit. You can enjoy a coffee or hot drink here till the early mornings without having to go to a bar.<br/><br/>This Denny's has a lot of seating room so even though there's not much ambience, you can get a bit of privacy and space while you dine.

Denny's is kinda like the nerdy boy you had a crush on at school but didn't want to tell anyone. They're notorious for low quality but there's something I like about the 24hr service, big portions, 60s style menu and fast service. It's a bit of a guilty pleasure for me, mostly for when craving a warm apple pie at 2 in the morning.

Denny's is a great place to go in the middle of the night or when you're drunk. <br/><br/>It's a 24 hour diner so you can't set really high standards. But for the food and time they're available you can't be upset. <br/><br/>The prices are a bit too high imo but damn that macaroon brownie THO.

I must say i have just finshed my break fast in demmy's auckland seriously the quality and quantity of food is mind blowing the space and place is very nice and comfortable the thing which i like the most that it is open 24x7 and the staff is well mannerd and properly trained.... cheers...!! Went with my partner yesterday, just to have a late lunch before shopping... And it both made us real full. Good service and great food. Food was served fast and properly.

This is a place to go after long night out drinking with friends. Food isnt that amazing but it is ok to go when other restuarnts are closed and you cant be bothered cooking. Please try not to go on your special occasion.

This is probably the best dennys in auckland. The service was amazing they always checked on me. Parking was a bit of a mission as you had to go down this driveway and were unsure of how to operate the gates. The food came out in record time only 10mins and it was so good. For the first time I was happy with my meal.

Great service during a day,best place to feed after midnight. <br/>Foods are ok however it's over price for what you get.<br/>They are not 5star quality food but price is to high.

The service was horrible, not busy and it took 1 1/2 hours for 5 of us to get our meal. Had to ask for water four times and didn't get it until we we indicated that this was the fourth time asking. Took 30 minutes to get our coffee which they brought out one at a time. Most frustrating restaurant experience I've had in a long, long time.

Denny's is American styled cafe which also offers Asian and Italian dishes. Denny's is 24 hours operating cafe, good place to have late night eats. Location is very convenient and easy to find, which is just opposite to sky city building. Food is very tasty and also the desserts. I have tried almost all their deserts. Price of the food is very reasonable. If you think of late night eats with your friends, then this is the place to look out for.

You know those times when you crave for certain dishes and make sure you remember spots for an instant fix? Danny's is my place for pancakes, chicken stir fry and awesome, rich hot chocolate. Period!

Asked for a medium rare steak, they gave me a sashimi beef with full of blood, tried to finish that $25 steak but it made me dizzy. Ordered shrimp cocktail, the waitress told me it's as a hot entry dish, turned out its a cold raw seafood as well. Nobody cleaned the table properly, and I have no idea why the air conditioner blowing cold air at 11pm. If my fridge wasn't empty, I swear to god I wouldn't go there. I'd rather go drive through McDonald's and call it good night.

I had their meat lovers pizza second time but it's disappointing big time... Last time the management told me they were sorry plz come back some other day it will be better for sure but today it was even worse. Never ever try their food guys!!

We were a group of 4, seated straight away. After about 10 minutes no-one had come to see if we wanted to order drinks or food so we had to go &amp; get someone. One ordered fish &amp; chips with curly fries (which had originally been ordered as a started but changed to come with the fish rather than normal fries), one ordered pork with vegies &amp; two with lamb shank &amp; vegies. <br/><br/>They bought the curly fries out &amp; we had to explain to the waiter that this was supposed to come out with the fish. <br/><br/>After about 25 mins the mains came out. The fish was warmish but the fries were cold (we suspect the early ones bought out were just put on the plate!) so that was sent back to the kitchen. The pork turned up with salad rather than vegies. The 2 shank meals turned up with cold vegies. Lamb shank was hot so I guess that was a start.<br/><br/>We told a waiter that vegies were cold &amp; no salad had been ordered. No real interest or even an apology.<br/><br/>We finished our mains, didn't want to order anything else so went to pay. Same waiter as was last at our table. He never asked how our meals were, never apologized for half cold food, no offer of even a slight discount.<br/><br/>From my memory of Denny's years ago it was always a great place to go for a reasonably priced meal. Went to Denny's in Hobson St. 4 people. 3 out of the 4 meals were disgusting.<br/>Burgers tasted like leather. It was absolutely shocking. When asked while I was paying how our meals were. Imagine hubby Harold and mine surprise to find that Denny's had finally opened a location in New Zealand!<br/><br/>After my husband nearly scratched the corolla, claiming "that's what bumpers are for" the morning was not off to a great start. <br/><br/>Arriving at reception only to be told we needed to go back out the building across the road and down back into someone else's basement to leave a Denny's docket on the dashboard (I made hubby do it, it was rather windy and he is a good sort when it comes to these things) my expectations for anything resembling a good review were remarkably low. <br/><br/>First up was the all American filter coffee. We were pleasantly surprised to find an authenticity in the luke warm watery brown beverage it instantly transported us back to our 1987 "road trip" through the Nevada desert where we enjoyed a grand slam or two and drank our weight in coffee. <br/><br/>The service was average but the food came out quickly. <br/><br/>Hubby and I both selected the budget breakfast which consisted of hash browns (excellent "American style" (shaved potato)) scrambled eggs (a little too realistic, not the powdered version we recalled from the good old U S of A but they did get the rubbery texture bang on!) and toast with grape "jelly" (American for jam). <br/><br/>We also ordered French toast to share. This wasn't as thickly sliced as we recalled. Hubby and I debated at length as to how they achieved such perfection in those spherical little globes of butter. We do like to share. There were no Spaghetti moments as such but watching Harold, a glint in his eye, lovingly drizzle Syrup all down that toast sure did build anticipation for the delights my mouth was about to receive. The toast was not excellent, but did the trick. <br/><br/>The free refills of coffee were a pleasant surprise and topped off what all in all can only be described as a pleasant nostalgic trip down memory lane. <br/><br/>We shall definitely return.

I have been a regular customer of Denny's for the past years. During my visits, the customer services and food has been not up to par. But recently staff and management has changed and the food and service has come up again, lots of friendly helpful staff. I hope that Denny's continue this way.

Really expensive. The steak is $24! Go to a steak house or anywhere else for better value and service. Decor is dated and we received no service when seated. I would avoid this place if you can avoid it at all.

We dine here few times through the year and the food is usually good, but i think it has gone down a lot in the last couple of years, there is no love put in it what so ever. the veges are usually always microwaved and not the greatest nor the salads, which are not even thought through. its a shame Denny's have turned to this. we still enjoy dining as a family but the cost to dine there is not worth it anymore. the meals have gotten smaller and the service is average. we usually only go now if its someones birthday, although the kids meals are only to age 10. which is silly, it should be to 12yrs at least. a little saddened how it's not the same as the old days. i guess its all about money money money and not the quality of the food and service.hhhmm??

I've been to Denny's Hobson Street a few times now, and I have to say it's my favourite of the Auckland Denny's. The staff are polite and friendly - although there's still some room for improvement, but not much - and the food is well-prepared.<br/><br/>It's nice to see Denny's staff who can actually speak English; the one time fluency in our country's default language was a problem turned out to be our waitress' first day on the job. Mark and Pam seem like good managers with their heads on their shoulders and I look forward to visiting again.

The kids menu only offered to under 10's and Pensioners to 65+<br/>Which you probably think I'm stupid.<br/>But it is age discrimination, it is telling me what I can and cannot eat due to my age. And what Seniors cannot eat because they are older. Its total crap.<br/>I dined with two of my friends whom one of does not have a very big appetite and wanted something small from the kids menu, and in a rude manner by whom I do think was the manager in charge, no.<br/>Which I understand due to the special on the day we were dining where one full adult menu meal gets a child's meal free, but if we were willing to pay, it should not matter what age you are. We are there to dine and then pay we should get what we wish to eat.<br/>Then we had a Pina Colada served in a plastic wine glass, not only was it the worst Pina Colada but a small plastic wine glass is for wine. not worth the money.<br/>The food was average.<br/>The service was utter Sh*t <br/>And the desserts even though it was obviously microwaved is what has given you the two stars cause the Peanut Butter Lava was amazing.

Use to be really good. Now they're understaffed and the food quality has gone downhill. It was once a great place to get a midnight munch, now i'd rather walk to Mc Donalds. Seating is quick dependant on time however time to get the food takes way longer than necessary - I don't think it takes half an hour to make a bacon benny when there's barely anyone at the restaurant. Whilst it's not the best place to order food at ungodly hours of the day (even if it is open 24 hours), the quality of the food they cook is appalling. I made the mistake of ordering the Apricot chicken with vegetables on the side (which were undercooked and pretty much raw). We also got into an argument with a cashier and had him throw the money back at us when we questioned why he charged us for the sandwich (with the $2 add on of fries) and a set of curly fries we didn't order.

Dennys Auckland CBD, well, me and my friends used it a lot, it's a cool place, it's bigger than some Dennys, the food is better than most Dennys, and some of the staff are cool.<br/><br/>This Dennys has a Dennys feel about it, and it probably has one of the best locations of a Dennys I have been to.<br/><br/>I've never felt it was a bad place, the service I got was good, and sometimes better than what I expected. it's 24 hours which is always good in the CBD, and I managed to get some Canadian "Poutine" fries there, a lot more than once.<br/><br/>Went on my birthday in March 2011, and it was awesome.<br/><br/>I like it, and I miss 24hrs Dennys since there are none here in Wellington.<br/><br/>Dennys Auckland CBD is a good Dennys from my experiences with them.

Was pretty average, some of the menu items i believe are overpriced and some food came out cold and soggy (the fries, yuck) would maybe go again to check if anything has improved....waitresses were nice and friendly though!

The service at the downtown location is mediocre and the food is awful. The Manukau and Northshore locations are fine for service and for quality but we will never EVER come here again. We thaught the first time was a fluke so we came back again. Big mistake. They should have their franchise pulled and rename it "Dumpy's". Yuk. Clean it up boys, those Americans make it look easy, you can too!

food is always consistent, but the whole parking thing is a nightmare. you have to park your car 5 mins away first, then walk up 100 stairs to get to the restaurant where they then give you a ticket that you have to go back and put in your car. also place is normally never properly clean and has grease smears on the walls and tables. but you still cant beat dennys for value and speed so despite the dirty building I still go back.

Absolutely awful! Sunday brunch time. Not that busy - had to wait to be seated. Sat for 10 minutes before our order was taken. The air conditioning was too cold and the waitress told me that no-one knew how to change the setting... really ???? We waited 45 minutes for the food to arrive and it was COLD, unappetising and unacceptable!!!! The food was then taken from the table with no word said and promptly inserted into a microwave...... that was the point at which we left. We were not the only people in this situation, I overheard other diners say they had waited for over an hour! I would never ever go there again, as we found a lovely little place two minutes walk away and the breakfast was freshly cooked, superb and more reasonably priced!

Average meals and decent atmosphere but quite a range of food.

The food at this dennys I would have to say be the best than any other I have been to, along with the cleanliness. However the service was a little slack. The waitress couldn't understand what I was trying to order. she simply had no idea what a cappuccino was. Her english was really poor and in the end had to get another waitress to take my order. Also when it came to paying that was a huge hassle. <br/><br/>But like I say the food was yummy!

When I went a couple of months ago the staff member who took our order, etc, and who was also the night manager at the time, was really rude for no reason at all, and quite a few times. He ruined a birthday dinner!<br/><br/>For this reason I have never been back to this particular Denny's.

This is hands-down the best Denny's. We're possibly talking worldwide here, as even in America, nothing could compare to this CBD chain store (IHOP is the only way to go in the US). <br/><br/>You gotta order it: Garlic bread, curly fries with aioli, add curly fries to any combo for $2, eggs benedict, cheese toastie, did I say garlic bread?<br/><br/>You gotta order it (dessert edition): Raspberry soda pop, Hot Fudge Cake<br/><br/>The prices are right, and the staff are pretty good. The only downside is that you can't order from the children's menu, and that really grinds my gears.<br/><br/>If you missed the Hobbit special menu....you missed out on something special, wow. Never mind! Just order something else. It's all good!<br/><br/>Bonus: The bathroom is big and clean, two of my favourite things in a bathroom.

Denny's is one of my all-time favorite places to eat with family. I love their American decor and diner-style layout. The seating is divided into booths with leather seats on either side of a table, rather than the standard table with 2 to 4 chairs (although the latter is available for peak periods). <br/><br/>The menu offers a variety of cuisines; from sandwiches, burgers, omelettes and fries to your authentic Indian, Thai, Malaysian, and other international dishes. My favorite meal is the Chicken Melt, followed by the Omelette with chicken fajitas. What I really enjoy about Dennys is the fact that they offer you a bottle of ketchup (Heinz, yum!) when you order fries. I must also mention the collection of desserts that are available at Dennys - lava cake, brownies, strawberry cheesecake, ice cream sundaes, and the list goes on. Try their Oreo Shake/Sundae; you wont find it anywhere else in New Zealand! <br/><br/>Dennys stores are open late daily, so if you are craving a late night snack, this is the place for it :)
