A lot of the reviews and photos here pertain to previous iterations of this café. As of 2023 it is under new ownership and has been extensively renovated and rejuvenated. So the ratings, reviews and photos from earlier than this do not do it justice.
The fit-out is lovely, with more seating capacity than previously, but it does not feel crowded. The counter food (baking in particular) looks exceptional and I'm very keen to come back for a cheese scone.
I must admit I was disappointed by the menu, which was absolutely basic generic brunch. No lunch items and no protein other than eggs. But when our meals arrived I couldn't fault them on quality or presentation. Portion sizes were generous but not excessive. Overall it was a good dining experience and we'll very likely be back.

I’m so glad to see this Cafe take a new lease on life! It’s just been beautifully renovated and under new ownership (thank goodness). The Cafe has experienced an identity crisis up until now - it’s looking beautiful, so aesthetic and lovely food! Great coffee! Everyone is so happy this place is back to former glory! Well done to whoever has taken charge!

Great food and wonderful service, came back here twice now. first time was just ordering an coffee but this time actually have time to enjoy the food. Strongly recommend the egg benny with bacon as they use Hellers honey streaky bacon and their homemade hollandaise sauce, you can really taste the hint of honey.
Organic food ingredients match with Italian brand organic coffee. Price they offered its worth for spending on it.
Roadside free parking for 2 hours is great for catching up with friends too. We loved it.

Found a park almost outside the cafe. It was about 2:00 pm on a Friday afternoon when we stepped into a space full of conversation. The cafe was abuzz with an early afternoon crowd and I was surprised by the number of people considering it was well past lunch service. The shelves were picked over but the Leader and I selected the pie and vegetables. I ordered a cappuccino, double shot, small cup with chocolate for the Leader and that arrived very quickly and was consumed almost as quickly.
The pies were a long wait. There were fewer customers arriving than leaving at the time and I did begin to wonder if the order was lost. I was amused by an article from one of the selection of magazines on offer and the meal arrived.
It looked great and tasted as good. So good that I was straight on to the meal as soon as it was placed in front of me. I was licking my lips and making satisfied piggy noises before I realised to had forgotten to take a picture of the meal.
Over all, happy to pay and will return.

The glass was not clean. It got red lipstick mark on the glass!!! And I drunk the water! But they refund some of the meals which is good. The food itself actually was nice.

I had breakfast at Brighton Road Café which was really nice. The coffee and Brighton Road hash were great - especially the mushrooms. My only gripe is that it's hard to find parking close by.

I've been coming to Auckland every fortnight for the last 4 years for work and staying at the same place in Parnell, yet only just discovered this cafe recently.. I immediately wished I had known it was here all along! There are very few places in Auckland where you can get a park right outside but you can here. The place is cosy, the coffee is consistently good and while all the items on the breakfast menu are good, the scrambled eggs are hard to beat. The staff are friendly and I was surprised recently when the barista remembered my coffee order.. I mean; how many coffees must he make on a daily basis?!. It made me feel special 😊 it's a nice place to start the day..

Parnell prices... however great coffe and the food is fresh and tasty. Everything looked very appetising. Was hard to choose. Cosy and very clean. Staff are friendly and provide a nice atmosphere.

Called in for breakie here today (Saturday 8 February 2020). Its a lovely little local cafe which is very popular with the locales. Has very good coffee and great cabinet food. Clean toliets & very pleasant outside dining area. Outside back wall could do with a fresh lick of paint though.

This has always been a lovely local cafe - always full of life and all the locals walk on in to eat and catch up.<br/><br/>The coffee is good, and the menu (although limited) produces great food.<br/><br/>Their deli display cabinet is always stuffed with goodies.....<br/><br/>Highly recommended

This awesome cafe used to be my favorite morning place for coffee ,i had excellent coffee and great service always.Since the business changed hands couple of month ago ,i was still hoping to get same coffee and service but seem like the barista have left recently and the new people are just horrible,hardly can speak english,awful coffee and rude bunch of staff!never going back there again.

The first time I visited I had the mushrooms for breakfast and they were the best mushrooms I've ever eaten, so creamy and flavoursome. The next time I came I ate the chicken Bahn Xeo and it was just as delicious. Lovely vibes here and a lovely family-run business. Thank you and see you again soon! :)

Lovely decor and beautiful china cups. I ate the lamb and rosemary pie and my partner had the Brighton Road Stack. Beetroot chutney was given with my pie which was so delicious I ordered a pottle to take away with me. <br/><br/>Finished our meal off with lemon meringue pie and passionfruit custard slice - all homemade. <br/><br/>Will definitely be coming back!

I travel the extra distance to Brighton road cafe because the coffee is always great, the staff are friendly and can always accommodate for your personal dietary needs (gf, dairy free etc). Also you can sit inside or outside in the garden area that is sheltered from rain! Beautiful garden :) Will be coming back for sure.

wicked good coffee and really friendly service. Not to mention very accommodating for a vegan diet. That is that they are happy to make changes in order to serve your dietary needs. They also have a very lovely back yard indoor/outdoor area which is lovely for summer.

Quaint cafe with a real homely feel. I come here about once a week. My favourite food items are the aubergine tart with Vietnamese chicken side salad and the mullagatawni soup served with crusty garlic bread - absolutely divine! <br/><br/>Prices are extremely reasonable. <br/><br/>I have also been a couple times with a vegan friend and the staff are always so flexible in making meals that appeal to her dietary requirements - it makes such a difference!

Great Cafe and food. I had the mussel fritters and salad - delish! . My friend had the Vietnamese salad and recommends ! Theres a lovely little outdoor area which is nice on a hot summers day. They make a very good coffee and the service is friendly and helpful, recommended! The ladies beside us had cups of tea with original English China cups and saucers - lovely touch! Drive down Brighton road a little slowly, as you could easily drive past otherwise.
