Excellent food and price. Has become my lunch place most Mondays. Food is always full of taste. Service is excellent and the place us nice. Good range available
Nice indian/gujrati food. The owner is a nice guy who helped me pick the right food option since I am not too familiar with gujrati food. I enjoyed my meal.
Living in an apartment nearby, Gujrati Dhaba has become a popular dining destination for me, I've been eating at Gujrati Dhaba twice a week since the restaurant opened. Great food, friendly waiting staff & great price. Without doubt the best vegetarian restaurant on K'Road and in a beautiful unique building, being the original entrance to the Mercury Theatre.
A bit surprised to see the negative views here on Zomato which do not equate to my experience at all. I imagine these reviews come from the neighbouring vegetarian restaurants. There will never be enough good vegetarian restaurants and I recommend you experience Gujarti Dhaba for yourself and pay little attention to the bitter rivals.
Most of the Indian restaurants in Auckland serve you over spicy, creamy and typical North Indian food.
At Gujarati Dhaba you get simple home cooked food that is very decently priced. They also offer good discounts for students.
A common lunch plate here serves you nice vegetable curry dish, daal, rice and 2 rotis.
As this place is located close to my work location, I do visit them often.
This is not a place where you can have a date or a friend get together but is more of a work-break lunch fill in or is good for simple take away food.
Went with my boyfriend, we ordered a Dhaba Thali and a Gujarati Special- good portion size and really tasty! Such good value for money compared to lots of places in Auckland. Service is good and the building itself is so interesting and well decorated!
Gujrati Dhaba is a very beautiful restaurant located in one of Auckland's most elegant heritage buildings. Upon visiting Gujrati Dhaba Indian Vegetarian Restaurant, regularly for three months, and having ordered meals there, as well as cups of tea, Indian coffee, and desserts, something on the order of 50 dining experiences at Gujrati Dhaba, I have always been treated very well, received impeccable customer service, and all my meals, beverages, desserts, snacks were perfect. The quality of the food was great, and the price per meal, the price per order is very good; also considering the beautiful nature of the restaurant venue, and the beautiful nature of their staff. With the addition of a new expert master chef, in December 2015, Gujrati Dhaba in 2016 has become even better, offering an even wider choice of meals and desserts, and having improved still on their previous cuisine. I first started to dine there regularly in November 2015. PS: the photo with the cup of Masala tea depicts one of the interesting tables located on the outside area of the ground floor area of the restaurant.
Best gujarati food in auckland. Owner is too good he told us he can make anything we order. Butter milk in out of india was too good loved food there felt like home. If u looking for gujarati food go for it u will like it .
Gujarati thali was best with unlimited food.
The best thing about this place is the fact that the food tastes great and it's such good value for money. The service was impeccable too, with the owner personally coming over and explaining anything I didn't understand on the menu.
Nice authentic food. Best INdian food in Auckland. nice gujarati dishes like handvo, dhokla.
But would be great if they are bit more clean. THe hotel floor needs to be cleaned regularly and sitting area as well.
We were very happy to discover a new option for vegetarians in K Road.
Some of the previous reviewers are a bit anti (perhaps because they have different ideas how the food should taste?) but as non-Indians, we really enjoyed the food and thought it better than a lot of the rather predictable vegetarian options in other more general (non-veg) Indian restaurants.
The food is tasty and good value, they went out of their way to cater to my request for gluten-free items. The venue itself has a lovely feel (although the little scent dispenser on the counter wasn't to my liking, the fragrance was overpowering).
However, I would like to see the menu include information about
(a) what each item listed there is, because many of the items listed were unfamiliar to me and probably to most non-Indian customers .
(b) info about which items are gluten-free (and perhaps also items that are dairy free) for those with food intolerances or allergies.
We were the only patrons on a Thursday evening so I do hope that business picks up.
