Review Love Dumplings - Auckland Central

I don't normally like dumplings but these are just so delicious...fave ones so far are the pork, chive & prawn - ended up buying more to take away plus some for the freezer to cook at home another night. To top it all they are very reasonable. So glad to have such a great dinner option close by!

As a local, this is my go to place for dumplings. Great value for money and the food is really good. The owners are very friendly and hand-make all the dumplings in-store. Would recommend to anyone in the area to check this place out, if travelling by car, parking may be an issue.

I come here all the time and it's remarkable. If you can complain about 25 delicious pastry wrapped chunks of heaven, for $12, you're clearly. It the target audience.

This place has some good dumplings - yummy ones. If you are planning a dine in - it is a small place and it is always good to take away. The dumplings are very tasty and flavourful and also worth every penny. The dumpling portion is very high compared to other dumpling places. I recommend this place for some good dumpling if you crave some anytime.

The service was really bad, the worst Chinese restaurant I've ever been to. The Chinese couple that run the restaurant was rude asf. The dumplings and food were okay but the service ummm I'll rate it 1 out of 100. We asked them if we can take away the leftovers but they gave us a pissed off face and asked "why would I order so many dumplings if you can't finish it." Well, I will never go back again and DO NOT RECOMMEND!!!

Cheap, delicious food in huge portions. Would highly recommend any of their dumplings and the pancake was amazing (and only $2). Lovely quaint little restaurant.

It’s been an odd week for me to be honest, I’m not usually one who is craving for dumplings having grown up eating handmade dumplings by my grandma. This of course has led me to be rather snobbish of dumpling establishments and places like Barilla.
As it was our monthly Board Game catch up, I thought it would be a cool for us all to get together before hand and grab a bite.

Love Dumplings is basically run by a Chinese couple, they have limited English but are intent on giving their diners a pleasant experience.
We had one pan-fried pork and chives dumpling, steamed chicken and mushroom, BBQ pork buns and a side of marinated beef slices. Beef slices here are amazing, no beating around the bush the little spice kick along with the strong distinct beef flavor is delicious. Wouldn’t recommend the BBQ pork buns as they were pretty bland. Pan fried dumplings were gorgeous, one problem with many establishments that do pan fried dumpling is that they only fry the bottom.

Here the dumpling has a nice golden texture around the skin and the joy of crunching into a fried dumpling is divine. Also the skin of the dumpling is relatively thing so they get more of a balanced filling to skin ratio which is the proper ratio for dumplings ( I’m looking at you Over-rated Barilla ).
If you’re a regular attendant at Cakes and Ladders, grab your group and head literally 20 steps down to Love Dumpling House for some awesome dumplings

Showstopper: Beef slices and Pan fried dumplings .

Overall Grade: B+

As the name suggests, they're a dumpling house! There's a huge variety of dumplings on offer - available steamed, pan fried or frozen (if you'd like some to takeaway for a rainy day). They also offer other foods like fried rice, noodles and soups.

Their standards dumplings are available for $12/ 25pcs, whereas their new concoctions (like pork and fennel) are $14 / 25pcs - still budget friendly tho!

My friend and I have been eyeing this place out for ages and finally gave it a go. we're use to the ones from Spicy House, but I think I like these a bit more. Whilst they're not as crispy as I'd want them to be (when pan fried), they're not as salty which is good for those who want to alter it to their own personal taste.

For me, I'm not a fan of the fennel and pork dumplings as it was the first time I've tried fennel and it's too floral for my taste. My go-to is the standard pork & chives/ pork and cabbage.

For $8, they give you a decent sized fried rice. It's not too oily or salty and is definitely worth it if you're looking for a cheap and filling dish.

For those who want to try this place out, I 1000000% recommend and forcefully want to push this on you, to try their SPRING ONION PANCAKE. It is on the oily side as most Chinese pancakes are, but it's the best I've ever had, each and every time. It's not too thin or thick and super crispy. It's big and for only $2, there's nothing to lose. It's also cut into 4 pieces for you to make it easier to eat.

The owner and his wife are super friendly, and remember us every time we come in now! They give you a menu and sauces when you get takeaway - if you want Chinese vinegar soy sauce, you'll have to ask or fill one up on the wall table yourself. Their chilli oil isn't the best so would recommend using your own.

For those in the area, it's a worth while stop. Wouldn't tell people to come out of their way to try it though.

Cute hole in the wall type of place, very close to Uni. Food portions are very large and prices are fairly cheap with dumplings coming at a surprising $12 for 25pc! The atmosphere is v quaint as it's a small family run business and the staff are very friendly and attentive. I happened across this place when taking the wrong bus but, like most parents tell their children, it was very much a happy accident. It's a fairly good place to have lunch with friends, will definitely be visiting again :)

Since our apartment is just 3' walk from this lovely family-owned Shop, we have dumplings as the comfort food more frequently than ever. Give them a try, and you'll never go back!

The family that owns this cute shop love what they do, and their passion comes through clearly in the delicious dumplings that they make for takeaway or eating in daily! The dumplings can be ordered either boiled or fried, and there are delicious vegetarian dumplings available as well, which is what my wife and I enjoyed recently. Portions are very generous, and prices are low. If you love fresh dumplings, prepared with love, please visit Love Dumplings!

Love Dumplings has a genuine passion for dumplings, the lady owner is so passionate about her dumplings she makes them in full view of her clientele.
I've the taste of the amazing range of dumplings and the pancakes that she and her husband cook. I would recommend Love dumplings highly.

Great value for money - $12 for 24 dumplings, even cheaper if you get frozen ones to take home! We got pork/chives/prawn & pork/mushroom both delicious and good amount of filling + sliced beef stew (as pic it's not actually a stew). Couple running the place were really friendly too...will definitely be back!

A small place on symonds street 25 dumplings for $12 was great all handmade by a busy couple, was really nice I wouldn't mind going back, frozen dumplings are available for taking home and Cooking it yourself which is also cheaper works out to be about 30c each for 2 dozen. Parking may be a let down but hey it's the city.
Diner8Here
went for a stroll to see what is now here on this forgotten part of Symonds street, since the majority of britomart bound buses were re-routed to cross Grafton bridge now. Chose Love dumplings to try their pork n mushroom dumplings and not bad at 12$ for 2 dozen of, dumpling filling ratio was more 5-10% mushrooms and rest pork, should be 50/50% ratio. Run by a hard working couple and can watch them hard at work behind counter, dining area very basic.

Yum. Dumplings are the bomb and so cheap. Even better, they have frozen ones you can buy and make at home. I'll take the chance but I don't think ild be able to make them as good

Dumplings were great, so was the chicken fried rice and I had, hands down, the best won ton soup I've ever had. We also got a pork bun and all was only $25!

Definitely 5 stars in its own right under the cheap eats category. You can tell their dumplings are made with L.O.V.E. Delicious, fresh, and flavoursome fillings. Their dumpling casing is a tad on the thicker side, but hey, it seals in the flavour and prevents that squirting hot liquid in each others action happening. The owner duo are also adorable and super friendly. Why wait in line at Barrilla when you can get a much better deal at this down to earth hole in the wall?

Came here for dinner the other night and ordered chicken fried rice and beef and celery dumplings. The portions are very generous for the prices and the food was delicious! I was a little disappointed at first that they didn't seem to have vegetarian dumplings on the menu but when you visit the restaurant they're advertised on a black board on the wall. I will definitely be coming back!

Suprising cheap eat! $10 for a BBQ pork fried rice, mushroom and pork steamed bun and chive, egg and shrimp pancake.

Everything was made up fresh and decent for a quick snack if in the area. A little too greasy to have all at once (you'll be right if just having one item) but really not bad considering the price. Fried rice was probably the best out of the three!
Lexi
25 dumplings for $12. Made fresh, you can actually watch the lady make them while you wait for your food. I had the pork and cabbage and they were YUM! If you're a dumpling lover, like I am, you should definitely give this place a shot.

I love the pork, chives & prawn dumplings and get them regularly. They have a prawn inside each one (not minced up) & they are great value for money. Only suggestion would be to also offer smaller servings, as you don't always want 25 dumplings if there is just one of you. But great for sharing and will feed 2 or 3 people. Enjoy!

Order 4 lots of dumpling from them for work lunch as there's not a lot of dumpling places around Symonds street. Ordered over phone, wasn't too hard to get order right. Taste is awesome, had 1 Boiled Pork n Chives, those were smooth, 1 Pork, Chives and Prawn, pan fried, marvelous.. and 2 pork n chives, standard. Extremely cheap, $12 for 25 pieces. Well recommended for a quick lunch grab.

Pretty good dumplings and at reasonable prices, however the dumpling lining could be a bit thinner and the pancakes could use a little less salt.

Only downside is that the two people who answered the phone order spoke very little English. Spent 5 minutes slowly yelling my order in every different way imaginable, including counting my choice from the top on the menu. In the end just went over physically and ordered it.

TWO AND A HALF YUMS!!!!
Genie @ BunnyEatsDesign
Cheap restaurant with a small menu compared to other places serving similar food. There was no one else in the restaurant when I visited. I ordered the BBQ Pork fried rice to takeaway. It made to order but was greasy and the ingredients didn't taste fresh. The BBQ pork was dry.

Dumplings are cheap though at $12-14 for 25 dumplings, might give them a go. They also sell fresh or frozen dumplings if you like to cook them at home.
