Review Nando's - Auckland Central

Our recent visit to Nandu Restaurant at Sylvia Park in Auckland left us thoroughly impressed! The star of our dining experience was undoubtedly the whole chicken with pita bread. From the very first bite, it was clear that we were in for a treat. The chicken was tender, flavorful, and perfectly cooked, and the pita bread added a wonderful touch to the meal. The ambiance of the restaurant created a warm and inviting atmosphere, making our dining experience even more enjoyable. The attentive staff and efficient service further added to the overall positive impression. Whether you're a fan of succulent chicken or simply looking for a fantastic dining outing, Nandu Restaurant is a must-visit destination that promises a delectable feast for the senses!

This branch is situated in Sylvia Park. Yummy food, quick service. Bathrooms need attention. There was only one soap dispenser in the unisex bathroom, and it was empty with no soap. The floor of the restaurant was not clean at all and needed attention and cleaning. There were chicken bones on the floors, other unrecognizable items, and dirty tissues around the place and under tables, chairs, and sofas. Also, is very slow in clearing the tables after customers leave.

Food was great, service was not so great. The man working there this morning had no customer service skills. Our order came out in bits and pieces and they forgot our drinks. Online ordering wasn’t working, the guy seemed annoyed to take my order.

First time coming to the Sylvia Park branch and it was pretty good! Have a new thing going on (or maybe I'm just a bit late) where you can scan the QR code on the table to order! Got one of their $15 half chicken promotion which was delicious. Service was pretty fast and when I noted them that the cups were running low, they restocked fast. Only down side was there seemed to not be much people cleaning up after tables so we just had to sit at a table with previous plates stacked on the adjacent tables.

Good food, service was in good time too. Did have some issues with speed of service a few months ago but they seem all good now. Nandos has a hand washing station for customers which I always appreciate though on this occasion the paper towel dispenser was broken so made do with napkins. Food was great though, tasty and the chips were nice and fresh.

This is my second visit to Nando's Sylvia Park branch. On Saturday, the place was crowded, but that did not prevent the staff from providing excellent service. Thank you to all Nadouz Sylvia Park staff. This is my second time trying Peri Peri chicken every time it was delicious.

It was wonderful seeing Nando’s return to Sylvia Park and finally open this week by Hoyts and Paparich. The new restaurant is very beautiful and spacious inside with the African fusion design accents and the seating is great. The staff was very friendly and efficient so I was very happy enjoying the Superfuel Chicken salad with Portuguese roll. It really is a great relief having this new Nando’s open. Highly recommended!

Loved the food and especially their sauces. Nice and cozy place with good spots to click pictures. Can spend a quality time with friends or family.

Good tasting chicken. But just not spicy enough. I hope they can come up with one that burns and is super spicy because their selection is not spicy enough. Apart from that very enjoyable. My mom bought us some takeaway today and enough to feed whole family. Food Quality: 4/5 Food Quantity: 4/5 Presentation: 4/5

Always nice everytime I go. However it always looked understaffed. So big thanks for the staff who was there that day working hard to deliver tasty food .

This is my new favourite nandos. Great decor and lots of seating options when eating in. I only usually go weekdays during lunchtime but the staff have always been friendly and efficient and the food is always cooked well and hot. Can’t complain really.

Nice chicken and fries. Perfect harmony with salad!<br/>Will be there again. Dining in is better than uber delivery.

burgers are made great and fries are fried right. service is a bit slow, tables and seats are dirty and the staffs cleaning tables next to me and my friend while we're eating is unacceptable. not returning any time soon.

This place never disappoints me. The chicken tastes great!! Ambience doesn't seem to be that great. Hungry after shopping?? Come to this place have a whole bird with extra spicy sauce 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

Hadn't eaten at this branch before but all other places were busy so we gave it a try.<br/>Service was good & meals quite quick considering how busy they were. Salad a bit average for the cost with it being mostly lettuce & not much else. Chicken cooked really well with nice flavour. Chips well cooked but absolutely no salt at all.

Usual story. Order take away. Burger requested mild it's probably medium hot. Ordered 2 sets of fries. conveniently forget one. While I didn't pay for it there was no receipt so didn't discover until got home.<br/>Truly going down hill. Service fail. Went for early lunch at 11 on Thursday and it was good. Told by staff that I was too early and probably have to wait for kitchen to get ready. Ordered espetada it was delicious !

Nandos is good for a casual meal with a big group and their portion sizing isn't too bad either. I recently tried their Paella which was alright... wish I just went with my usual 1/4 chicken and peri peri chips instead though. Service was fast BUT the chicken that one of my friends ordered wasn't cooked properly and looked quite raw which was pretty disgusting. But the staff attended to it immediately and bought her a brand new dish that was sorted but my friend still ended up getting terrible food poisoning afterwards ,hence I gotta give a poor rating. <br/><br/>I probably wouldn't come to this branch again just coz the hygiene is dodgy so I would prefer the North Shore branches over this one.

After a long day of shopping I always find myself at this nando's. I love the reliability of this place in the sense that each time I order my classic burger or chicken pita, I can anticipate the delicious flavours and know what I'm getting. <br/>Keep up the good work.

I'm so annoyed and mad at one of the staff member. I'm not going to talk about the food quality and etc . I'm a protective person and if anyone is rude to my sister , I'll ( I'm not going to say anything) <br/>But let's get to the point. My sis and I were sitting on the table near the higher level table. Okay cool so we were eating enjoying our meal ( foods good I'll admit that ) and this lady ( I really wish I could write her name down !!!! ) was cleaning the table next to us on the higher level. She was spraying on the table . Cool that's fine but she's not watching where she spraying and also when she cleaned the table , she didn't realised that the bone flew into my sisters plate. So my sister approach her and she IGNORED my sister and said I just clean the table and walked away. No. Don't do that to my sister. That's rude and no manners .tried calling her to come back and let her know but she just ignored. I'll be fine if she apologise but nope. She didn't. So called another staff member about it and she apologise on behalf for her. So we called the manager to let him know the situation. Don't want any refunds or so. Just teach your workers well. Or at least don't hire someone that's ill mannered. It's busy -understandable but don't be rude to your customer. That just ruin other people's day and reflect who you are.

My whole chicken is always good.... But.... When i was giving order they charging to customers big fizzy drinks without letting customers known. Hold on smart guys don't be doggy!!!!!!! <br/><br/>And one more thing please at least once a year clean your shelf!! Looks extremely disgusting

Very busy place! You order and pay before taking a seat. The wait for food wasn't too bad for the amount of people standing waiting to order! <br/><br/>Chicken wise, it is very yummy!!! If you like nandos, then this place serves pretty good and fresh chicken. The fries were piping hot and crispy with generous peri peri salt.

The service here is so so bad. I went here a few days ago with my two friends The lady at the counter was in her own world when we went up to order didn't even hear us, then when our meals arrived it was completely different. My two friends ordered a quarter chicken but their chicken had the wrong sauce. I ordered a classic chicken burger no tomato but i got a quarter chicken. When i complained to the manager he said i'll get my burger no tomato. When my burger arrived it had a tomato in it and hot sauce instead of mild. I hated the service here, its so bad never going here again . Ruined my lunch!

I had a half chicken and chicken roll with salad and chips.<br/>Everything were cooked perfect and waited only 10min for my food.<br/>Nice outdoor to dine in.<br/>Good customer service as well.<br/>However my salad was not fresh at all.chips were burned too.

I love Nandos for fast, affordable and tasty food. Whether your vegetarian, health conscious or just craving a good burger and chips, Nandos is perfect. My favourite dish is the grilled chicken tenderloins, they are always soft, tender and marinated well. I usually get the garden salad with it if I'm being healthy or peri peri chips as I love the dry peri spice they sprinkle on them. It's also great that they have all the peri sauces (mild or spicy) available for anyone to use, as I love adding extra spicy sauce on my chicken! Service is what you'd expect of a fast food restaurant chain like this, but overall a good spot for a casual lunch or dinner.

Went for a family dinner. It appears to me that the quality and quantity has deteriorated. Whereas their chicken burgers were good, on the last two visits we experienced the chicken breasts to be much smaller than the roll as well as being paper thin. They are also expensive for such lousy fare. The chips and Coke were OK. We will not be eating there again, and <br/>unfortunately I cannot recommend them.

Favourite nandos by far, come here at least weekly on my lunch break, foods always fresh and delicious, comes out quickly too. Service is friendly, no complaints here!

Food was amazing! Staff are rally friendly. A defs go to. However.. a large plate for a small portion of chicken is a little excessive. However, we always leave happy!

Been here several times and never had a problem. Good service and nice food. Maybe they could improve on their glasses and cutlery being more sparkling clean but overall their the go to place

Service isn't great here. Glasses and cutlery were stained and not cleaned properly. The worst part was that the chicken we got wasn't even cooked properly. It was still pink in the middle so we took it back and the waiter said "It's fine. I'll cook you another one". We told him that we wanted a refund and he said "it's not red, I can cook you another one". In the end he gave us a refund but the fact is that he didn't even apologise or admit that the chicken was raw and secondly the standards there are just poor. We went there around 3pm on a Thursday afternoon and the place was quiet. There should be no excuse for undercooked chicken and dirty cutlery and dishes- never coming back here again.

One of my fav eating joint. The location is really good after shopping. <br/>I was somewhat disappointed. Though the portion size of chicken was good & even the fries were fresh & crispy but somehow I felt chicken was not perfectly cooked. <br/>Till the time I was eating fries I was happy but thr moment I finished my 1st piece of chicken I felt it was bit undercooked . I did not return because I was in rush & above that order took time to come. <br/>Also I would like to mention the washrooms were in terrible condition. No none was taking pains to clean the washroom & it was very dirty.

This particular nando's is always delivering the freshest food, simply because it is very busy at all times. Their peri peri chips have the correct amount of peri peri unlike other places. The wait time is the only downside so probably not the best place if you are very hungry.

Nandos is our go to place for chicken. The Espatada Grande is what my partner I often order with a large side of peri peri fries. Service is okay but the food always delivers. Delicious.

Really good food, chicken was really soft and tender. Waitress was lovely and friendly will defiantly come again. Door way is a bit awkward when there is more then 2 people waiting.

This was the best nandos I've had in a while, they got my order right and the waitress was very polite. Food was cooked to perfection and the seating area was nice and clean. Thanks nandos Sylvia park!

The food is tasty but the service at this branch was awful!!<br/>I asked the waitress if there were any sauce bottles available, she asked which one I wanted and I told her I didn't mind since it was so busy and she snapped at me saying "Tell me which one you want THEN i'll go get it. So which one?" I didn't get an apology and she kept glaring at me every time she walked past our table- not cool.<br/>Made the whole meal awkward cause I was upset and kinda angry about how she spoke to me- I get it- Hospo can be busy as and kinda shitty but you don't need to snap at people when they ask you for something that you're expected to help with...

This Nando's outlet is located in a fantastic location and a lot of patrons visit this place. Food/beverages are standard. Ambience needs some more lighting, especially in the corners. Staff needs to be more in sync with expectations.

We come here on a regular basis as this joint is conveniently situated within the mall (handy when you're shopping and feel like some delicious flame grilled chicken for lunch or dinner).<br/><br/>We've dined here so many times so my average rating for this place is gonna be 3. The food is usually good.. I mean the chicken is cooked well. However, at times the portion sizes can either be good or ridiculously small!

We regularly come to this Nando's and our most recent visit was this past weekend (date night).<br/><br/>Service was good with reasonably friendly staff and I personally like the size and setup of the place.<br/><br/>I ordered the chicken breast burger with extra hot basting and my husband ordered 1/2 chicken with hot basting. <br/><br/>The food arrived in a timely manner and I actually really enjoyed it. The peri peri chips was yummy as always and the burger was fresh and full of flavour. my husband enjoyed his meal as well. <br/><br/>Overall am always happy with my meal at Nando's and don't recall a time they have ever disappointed. This is our favourite stop for having a great, wholesome and spicy meal out before catching a movie. Sarah Reynolds #challenge

Am a regular at all Nandos across Auckland. This one at Sylvia Park is convenient when shopping. Staff is extremely courteous and good. However the less said about the burgers the better. The bread is often stale and dry. Chips taste different everytime. Today they were hard and cold. Needs improvement.

The food here isn't the greatest. <br/><br/>The food was taken ages too be served, and the food needs improvement.<br/><br/>Nothing compared to other Nando's.

Fresh food but service can be abit slow. Serving quantity is reducing. Staff is friendly and has the same nandoz taste as found around the town.

if you want fresh and juicy chicken nandos slyvia  is the place  to eat. best chicken in all nandos restaurants  i have eaten.<br/>try estpatada so yum

Been coming here for a few years, recently the place has taken a nose dive in quality.. Ordered a Supremo chicken burger for takeaway and when i got back too work, wow, what a terrible experience.. The chips where super hard and extra oily, obviously gone cold and then re-fried. Then i open the burger, what a disgrace. Gone is the crusty portugeuse roll advertised inn the menu, replaced by a sesame bun,probably from the pak and save, brown edged lettuce made up 60% of the burger, a single paper thin piece of warm chicken, and absolutely none of the fixings advertised on the menu,, it was reminiscent of a chicken burger from a dodgy kebab shop, but 5x more expensive Ate it, was thoroughly disappointed and thought won't be back..<br/><br/>Boom 4am hits and i'm on the toilet for an hr.. still feels like Chernobyl inn my guts.<br/><br/>My rating: avoid like the plague.

Not sure what happened today.<br/><br/>The fries were soggy and the order was wrong - ordered BBQ ribs but instead got chicken wings, which was also mistakenly entered into the system as "wings" so we couldn't prove we ordered ribs. Was a painfully slow meal and the fries tasted terrible...

I have been to 2 Nandos branches Malaysia (KL), 2 in Australia and most of the ones in Auckland and out of all of them, Nandos Sylvia Park is the best.<br/><br/>Yes, sometimes their service is not 100%, but that is on an extremely busy day. Most of the time they are very quick and very friendly.<br/><br/>As for those who are complaining about the price...<br/>we are talking about Nandos here, not greasy fried chicken from KFC..<br/><br/>Keep up the good work Nandos Sylvia Park.<br/><br/>You are the ONLY BRANCH in Auckland where i've requested "Can you bring the Periperi shaker to my table so i can sprinkle some on my spicey rice" and i've received it with a smile. <br/><br/>The Mount Eden branch and the New Lynn branch can learn a lot from you guys.<br/><br/>There is a young blonde girl @ the New Lynn branch who gives me the evil's for asking for a xtra sachet of salad dressing... even though i offer to pay for the extra sachet.

Nando's chicken wings are the bomb... in a good way. Food took longer than expected to arrive though - and this the restaurant operating at 1/3 of its capacity... so perhaps they need better staff training? But apart from that, pretty standard Nando's food..

I am very surprised to read the bad reviews about this store. I have been to Nandos sylvia park for many years now and have always had a good experience. The service is great, the food is excellent and I always have a good time whether it is with my friends or my family. I would recommend going to this store and botany any day. I have tried Nandos at other branches (manukau, newmarket and queen st) but none of them were as good as sylvia park and botany Nandos! Although pricey, I don't mind paying for good food and great service :)

What can I say? Waited an hour for dinner, reminded the waitress, watched her literally polish silverware while food sat waiting to be served, got it delivered cold and returned it- then she did the same thing again. This was the second to last time I ate at any Nandos.

Me and my mate went here last night, she ordered a chicken paella and I ordered the Swiss chicken burger grande combo. It was quite expensive i thought for burger and chips. My friends food came out, lukewarm and while i waited for around 15minutes for my food to come out hers was cold by then so I asked that her food be reheated, the waitress wasn't pleasant to deal with. When i got my burger the top and bottom buns were rock solid and I am talking rock solid. Service was horrible as the staff who worked there didn't say anything about my food being so delayed from my friends, I went to the front counter and asked for half my money back. I took the bottom bun off the burger and tried my best to eat the top bun with the chicken lettuce and cheese on it but the chicken was also over cooked.<br/>Will never go back to Nandos again!

Tasty but pricey. Sides are particularly a rip-off, even when part of a combo. Not nearly enough food for your dollar, especially stingey when it comes to chips, which as we all know, should be as cheap as chips!<br/><br/>Chargrill Chicken is better quality at a better price.

Our meal was great, the food came out really fast, it is quite expensive for what it is but the food was really good! If you have the money &amp; want really nice chicken this is the place to go!

my partner and i decided to go out for a nice lunch. we'd never been to nando's so we tried it out (sylvia park). after ordering a 'grande meal' each from the highly priced menu we sat and received our food really fast. all i can say is I was extremely disgusted at the amount on our plates. the serving was tiny and did not even satisfy a petite person like me, my partner insisted i eat his as he didn't want me to leave hungry. i will never me going back EVER.

The best Nando's in the whole of Auckland! the owner was sooo nice and used to always have his attention on the customers...we used to go in large groups and the table was set out nicely to fit about 20 people. Great service, fresh food, clean and nicest location ever!!!

The only positive comment would be the front line staff, not sure if could comment the same about the kitchen staff. Nandos is a world wide chain ank known for its flame grilled chicken however this branch served us the worst meal we have ever had at a Nandos<br/>We ordered for the Family Fiesta with 3 sides. the chefs forgot to send our coleslaw and when it arrived was the wrong size, Peri Peri Rice was dry and stale and surprised to say it hurt to swallow. Peri Peri chips were soggy cold and be lucky to find any Peri Peri on it. One look at the chicken and we knew it wasnt fresh and recooked and our first bite confirmed that<br/>Its a unfair for paying customers to be served recooked chicken as it is dry and shrinks in size. This was on a quiet afternoon so least could expect good food. Pointless to mention it as the meal itself too long to come out and the staff did no bother to check<br/>Feel free to give this a miss especially when busy as one can only imagine what may get served

Nandos is a popular chain in New Zealand as a whole, with their eateries at multiple location. Famous for their peri-peri chips, I am sure one will get easily bored of repeating the food after a while. Yes the peri-peri chips are good, the chicken tenderloins are good and so are the chicken ribs, but Nandos does lack that wow factor in their menu. After a while, you feel that Nandos is probably living on it's peri-peri sauces and salt.<br/><br/>I have been to Nandos many a times, the staff at Nandos is generally bland and they do not really put efforts to make you feel welcomed. It feels as if you are in a food court where all you have to do is serve the customer and not bother what they are upto, The staff takes the order, you have your food and simply leave. Do we actually pay for the food when we go out??? - that's the hard question. There's nothing fancy about the restaurant except for the walls that talk about the relevance of the cockle and the origin of peri-peri herb. Music is pathetic and the place can be really messy at times. And you get a variety of sauces to accompany your meal ranging from lemon and herbs to very hot :)<br/><br/>The only good thing about Nandos at Sylvia Park is its outdoor space. You may tend to enjoy your Peri Peri chips or chicken while its raining outside, or probably watching people walk by on a sunny day. <br/><br/>Nando's good for a snack, but if you really wanna enjoy, don't expect too much from the place, just concentrate on the food. And if you are going to Nandos, peri peri chips should be a part of your order, highly recommended.

I ordered grande meal of their quarter chicken. The waiting was on time as it wasnt that busy. But I was dismayed that I received an old piece of chicken apart from the portion size is too small. A couple also complained that their burger buns are hard which a waitress explained they were supposed to be like that. They weren't happy. I wasnt either. Although the ambience is still good and the place is clean. Just that my meal didnt taste fresh.
