Stopped in on Mother's day. There is a children's play area at the back. Outside seating as well. Good range of cabinet food and menu. I had a slice of chicken, bacon and Mushrooms pie with salad. Very good. Other family members chose salmon quiche and bacon and tomatoes quiche both served with side salad. They were also happy with there choices. Easy parking area at cafe and across the road.

Great team work on Father's day! The service was very good. The wait time was acceptable given how busy it was with many bookings. The food was not only delicious but also great sized portions and presentation beautiful restaurant quality. This is our second visit and we're were not disappointed. Well done everyone you all rock! 🥰

My husband and I enjoyed a leisurely brunch to celebrate 'Father's Day' on Sunday. We were impressed by the fact that even though the Cafe was extremely popular, and we didn't have reservations, it was absolutely no trouble for the staff to accommodate us. The food on the menu was as equally delicious as the cabinet food looked, making it very hard decide what to order. The atmosphere is so cozy and warm, you wish you could stay longer. I really love the whole country cottage vibe.

Beautiful beautiful beautiful service from the owners. My family and I were stranded in Waitoki from 12am-6am travelling from Hamilton in the midst of the crazy floods and the owners came into the hall that we were in to offer their service. They were nice enough to offer free coffees out of the kindness of their heart and they took it a step further offering food later through the day. This has made our significantly memorable experience into an into one with a positive note. Thank you very much for the warm hospitality shown to us. This is what I will remember of not only DD's country cafe but also Waitoki.

Wonderful little find, a much needed coffee turned into a long brunch as the building and garden are so delightful that we couldn't leave. The food is really good too. Lovely choice of areas to sit and unwind. We'll definitely be back.

Very bad !!! We stop here last week for coffee as look nice from outside. We also buy cake from cabinet. Coffee was not tasting good, very milky. Slice was very hard and no taste. Would never go again !!!

We tried to give this place a go many times. But unfortunately the service continued to let us down. Today was the final straw. After been told there was an hour wait for food because they were so busy.. (there was about 10 pple in the cafe!?) we were fine to wait for the hour because let's be honest there is not much decent choice out this way. After waiting the whole hour my husband went to check in on the status of the meals. We got told after some confused looks that it will be another half hour. At this stage our trust and faith in their ability had completely gone. We got our refund and I think next time I am just to going to make the extra effort to kumeu to get decent service. There seems to be a bunch of kids running the place with no clue. Such a shame as it could be a decent much needed place. Also cleaning the bird crap off your tables once in a while would be nice....

We booked because there were 8 of us for a birthday. Despite that the young girl at the counter knew nothing about it. She made no effort to put any tables together or be even remotely helpful. There was a place with lots of tables where nobody was sitting. I think that was because it was boiling hot. There are no fans to cool the place down and it was uncomfortably hot when we did manage to find a table. We went to get some water and the water cooler wasn’t even plugged in so the water was farm. The counter food was lovely. My son had a kids meal which was a very generous portion for the price. My husband had the steak sandwich which he loved. All in all it’s a shame the service was such a let down because the food is actually nice. More effort needs to be made to make customers feel welcome and comfortable.

Keep Coming back because I have hope for it and Am a local. Great spot - love the kids outdoor area. Has LOTS of potential being the only cafe in the area but despite having an outdoor extension put in, place is looking very dated and tired. Needs a revamp. So does the menu, it hasn’t changed for at least 4yrs. Service is terrible - lots of young people working there who act like they’d rather be elsewhere and need some training in customer service

Really enjoyed my breakfast here and it was all resemble priced. Cute little place that seems very popular. Only thing and it's little they need menus to take to your tables makes things a little easier and less on the spot pressure.

We should have read the reviews before going there. Like others this use to be s favourite but alas this will be our last visit. Unlike the lovely friendly reception we were greeted by staff that would obviously rather be somewhere else. To start with we were over charged and when I pointed this out there was no apologies just s feeble excuse that the till had a different price to what was on the board. When the food eventually arrived what a joke. The Pitza looked like it came out of a packet and had taste to match the cardboard box it came in and my guests Corn fritters was equally tasteless and more like a Pike-let with 3 pieces pf corn. I was very embarrassed to take my guest there and it is a real shame that it was one of few good old fashioned home cooking Cafes left alas no more.

I was terribly disappointed at the service and quality of food served at this cafe. The coffee was burnt and the "hot" meal came out cold. It took over an hour to cook a steak sandwich and we and another table were the only ones in the cafe at the time. Sorry but I will not be going back

I am beyond sad at the downwards spiral DD's has taken since getting a new chef. I used to ABSOLUTELY ADORE this place and come here every weekend. I would always get the Cajun chicken salad and it was the biggest salad and SO YUMMY! But since they got a new chef this place has really taken a turn for the worse. A few weeks ago I tried my usual chicken salad, there was about 1/4 of a chicken breast in the whole thing, had NO flavour and was just Unbelievably disappointing. I also go a milk shake and it tasted like plain milk in a cup. So today I decided to give it another try in hopes that things would be back on track. Boy was I wrong! Took literally 1 and a half hours to get my salad...shocking. The salad had no sign of Cajun flavoring what so ever. Had bacon in it which it never has and I didn't want the bacon so had to pick it all out. Came with old guocamole on top too. They needed to list these ingredients on the menu because that's not what I was expecting! So sad to say that my parents and I will not be coming back here again and we have lost our favorite little local cafe. Such a shame.

This place is what you call home cooked grub! Large servings! The pies oh my word the pies are amazing! Fluffy crispy pies - which sell out everyday! In fact theres also an option to call up and reserve a pie - because they are sooo popular! Must try! Coffee is great too!

Fantastic place - Double D short for Dianne and Don. I have known this place ever since it was open and then some, and the friendliness and good food coupled with an idyllic setting in the great Waitoki Valley, never ceases to amaze me. Whenever I get there having driven into the parking lot by the trees, I get out of the car and start to walk in and even before I get to the duck boards that adorn this wonderful cafe, I can smell the fresh coffee. I see Don and before I sit down by the fire, he's asking me "Have you finished that road yet?"

Have to say I was disappointed. Stopped for drink about 12.30 on a Sunday. One of our group ordered a hot chocolate and requested white marsh mellows. Seconds later a second and more senior staff member picked up the written order, looked at the request and said 'fussy', not realising it was us who had just placed the order. The single counter staff member was over worked serving someone who selected food from servery and we were left standing - no one to take our order at a peak time. Certainly no smile or friendly comments. The latte in a hot glass did not have a servette wrapped around it and lastly, went to the toilet and found virtually no toilet paper - just as well I didn't go for a no 2! There were no spare rolls in the toilet. Maybe there has been a change of owners as this experience was definitely under previous standards, leaving us rather disappointed.

Always love the bacon and egg toasted sandwiches, I cannot duplicate this at home and even use the same bread. Friendly staff and always dog people or bikers to chat too. A favorite cafe run for us.

We had read that this cafe was good. It wasn't good at all, it was excellent. We ordered menu meals, and when they arrived, we were glad we had arrived hungry. The burger meal was made with a thick home made patty on a toasted bun, and it came complete with a nice fresh salad, and a big serving of crisp fries. My fish meal was the same with the fish being large pieces cooked in a light batter. The quiche was very tasty and moist. The staff were very pleasant, and despite the fact that the place was very busy, everyone was handled well. There is a choice of internal and external seating including veranda seating out front. We highly recommend this cafe, and will make the journey back again.

Stopped here mid saturday afternoon after a few hours of blatting around on a trail bike on Muriwai beach, having driven past a number of times previously and thought the place looked nice (and popular). Very polite and friendly staff gave excellent service. My partner had a mince pie and sausage roll and I had an asparagus tart and date scone. Whilst all our food was lovely my partner rated his pie as "the best I've ever had" (I'm vegetarian so didn't try it) and the date scone was the best *I've* ever had. My partner couldn't resist trying it (served warm, with lashings of butter) and it was so delicious we had to have another ...... so good ..... They have a great selection of deliciousness there which I look forward to trying - think we will be regulars from now on (especially as their prices are excellent). As an added bonus, you can sit outside (in the sun or on the shady verandah) and admire the styley motorbikes and cars that cruise past every now and again as people are out and about on their weekend drive / rides - very enjoyable :-)

We have been to this cafe several time's and without fail they have provided us with beautiful fresh food, and wonderful coffee...we have also had pizza on a Friday night and they have been good value for money and fresh!!! Thanks D's will continue to enjoy your wonderful food..BIG UP"S from us.

WOW!! Went to DD's for breakfast as was recommended to us by some friends. Seriously good food with such good prices. It was easy to find even though it is not on your normal route of travel (unless you live in Waitoki :) ). Our coffees were hot and delicious and the service was faultless. Great start for the day!!
