We had a burger and lasgna, the amount was generous, and the burger mince patty was nice, tasted home made. Hot chocolate was lovely, will definitley pop back if in area
Amazing place and hardworking team. Cool having a fire inside to keep the place warm, the homemade pies were to die for, and so were the coffees!
Delicious and a beautiful setting, highly recommend! Burger was exceptional. Great playground for the kids too and a lovely spot to sit out in the spring sun.
Really enjoyed my breakfast here and it was all resemble priced. Cute little place that seems very popular. Only thing and it's little they need menus to take to your tables makes things a little easier and less on the spot pressure.
This place is what you call home cooked grub! Large servings! The pies oh my word the pies are amazing! Fluffy crispy pies - which sell out everyday! In fact theres also an option to call up and reserve a pie - because they are sooo popular! Must try! Coffee is great too!
Fantastic place - Double D short for Dianne and Don. I have known this place ever since it was open and then some, and the friendliness and good food coupled with an idyllic setting in the great Waitoki Valley, never ceases to amaze me.
Whenever I get there having driven into the parking lot by the trees, I get out of the car and start to walk in and even before I get to the duck boards that adorn this wonderful cafe, I can smell the fresh coffee.
I see Don and before I sit down by the fire, he's asking me "Have you finished that road yet?"
Always love the bacon and egg toasted sandwiches, I cannot duplicate this at home and even use the same bread. Friendly staff and always dog people or bikers to chat too. A favorite cafe run for us.
We had read that this cafe was good. It wasn't good at all, it was excellent. We ordered menu meals, and when they arrived, we were glad we had arrived hungry. The burger meal was made with a thick home made patty on a toasted bun, and it came complete with a nice fresh salad, and a big serving of crisp fries. My fish meal was the same with the fish being large pieces cooked in a light batter. The quiche was very tasty and moist. The staff were very pleasant, and despite the fact that the place was very busy, everyone was handled well. There is a choice of internal and external seating including veranda seating out front. We highly recommend this cafe, and will make the journey back again.

Stopped here mid saturday afternoon after a few hours of blatting around on a trail bike on Muriwai beach, having driven past a number of times previously and thought the place looked nice (and popular).
Very polite and friendly staff gave excellent service. My partner had a mince pie and sausage roll and I had an asparagus tart and date scone. Whilst all our food was lovely my partner rated his pie as "the best I've ever had" (I'm vegetarian so didn't try it) and the date scone was the best *I've* ever had. My partner couldn't resist trying it (served warm, with lashings of butter) and it was so delicious we had to have another ...... so good ..... They have a great selection of deliciousness there which I look forward to trying - think we will be regulars from now on (especially as their prices are excellent). As an added bonus, you can sit outside (in the sun or on the shady verandah) and admire the styley motorbikes and cars that cruise past every now and again as people are out and about on their weekend drive / rides - very enjoyable :-)
We have been to this cafe several time's and without fail they have provided us with beautiful fresh food, and wonderful coffee...we have also had pizza on a Friday night and they have been good value for money and fresh!!! Thanks D's will continue to enjoy your wonderful food..BIG UP"S from us.

Other family members chose salmon quiche and bacon and tomatoes quiche both served with side salad. They were also happy with there choices.

Great team work on Father's day! The service was very good. The wait time was acceptable given how busy it was with many bookings. The food was not only delicious but also great sized portions and presentation beautiful restaurant quality. This is our second visit and we're were not disappointed. My husband and I enjoyed a leisurely brunch to celebrate 'Father's Day' on Sunday. We were impressed by the fact that even though the Cafe was extremely popular, and we didn't have reservations, it was absolutely no trouble for the staff to accommodate us. The food on the menu was as equally delicious as the cabinet food looked, making it very hard
decide what to order. The atmosphere is so cozy and warm, you wish you could stay longer. I really love the whole country cottage vibe.
