Really excellent barbeque joint in the middle of the fish market. I've been here several times now, the half-chicken, meat platter and pork belly are personal favourites, although you can't really go wrong with anything on the menu - It's a great complement to the multitude of seafood restaurants in the area!

This is a gem in Jellicoe street food court. The chicken is really delicious and a very healthy option. You generally have to wait atleast 20 mins for it to cook.

I've been to this place twice now and their food just wows me.
Yesterday we went to the Fish Markets for a friend's birthday a bit late and they were closing, however after the birthday girl said that it was her birthday and if they could please serve us, they didn't even hesitate. They worked overtime just to serve the 20+ people we were. Absolutely outstanding service and delicious Latin American food. They even won the best Latin Restaurant award for 2020 :)

Do yourself a favor and visit this lovely restaurant in the Auckland fish Market. I went out for dinner last Saturday and I have to say, the service is unmatched. The food is absolutely amazing - everything we tasted melted in other mouths, I enjoyed every single bite of the meal.

Empanada is fresh and tasty. The sauce it came with complimented the flavours plus it was gluten free. Would’ve rated 5 stars had the portions bigger and staff friendlier. Will come back.

We came in with a big birthday group of people, and the guys kept open for us after their closing time and delivered about 20 of our delicious orders. Huge thank you for such a great service, you looked after us so well!

We had a selection of eats as recommended by the very friendly staff - all of whom are authentic South American’s with a passion for food. The service was great and very friendly. Highly recommended!

By far the best restaurant in all of the fish Market. The fish Arepa is to die for with a cheeky side of kumara fries. Service was amazing, the staff are hilarious and make you feel like you’re in Latin America.

I saw the chorizo sausages smoking in the window and knew this was the place for me. I was greeted by two friendly Colombian Chefs who had just opened Mar y Tierra. They told me a bit about their restaurant and their dream to give Auckland the best quality most authentic Latin American food at a price point for the people. I ordered a chorizo and a few minutes later I had a heaping platter of smoky chorizo, fried potatoes with ash aolie and a small corn pancake. Definitely the best South American food I have had in Oceana! I will be back and I will take some photos!

Excellent meals! The grilled snapper was perfectly cooked - a large fillet of snapper with decent mound of green salad & potatoes. The salmon dish was much smaller than expected though, and wasnt enough to satisfy you, eventhough it was tasty. Both fish were fresh and cooked perfectly. We will definitely come back to try the other dishes!

Take all my money !!!!!!<br/>This gluten free heaven has me coming back every Friday lunch hour to get my eat on. <br/>I’m sufficiently positive I’ve tried every damn think on their menu and can say without hesitation it is all so Bomb, bomb, bomb. <br/>Highly recommend their crispy golden kumara fries and the duck fat roasted potatoes, roasted to absolute heavenly perfection with a side of grey, charcoal, smoky aioli, don’t be put off by the colour and go to the dark side, you won’t regret it. <br/>Their grilled salmon, pork and prawns are outstanding although I wouldn’t recommend the prawns 🦐 if you don’t plan on getting your hands a little messy. <br/>All in all this is my favourite lunch spot and I’ll be back every Friday. <br/>Come say hi !

What a find! This place is DELICIOUS!!!!!! Had the cassava chips (with I think squid ink aioli) and the fish arepa.... so so tasty!!! And something a little different. Highly recommend! The fish was so fresh!

It is a little Argentine eatery here at the fish market in which I had a beef brisket dish call loaded fries with mozzarella and criollo sauce, very basic dish nothing spectacular, I like the rates here though.

First time at the Auckland fish market and i love it. Wondered around trying to figure out what i wanted and came across Mar and Tierra. Swordfish skewer is amazing a must try. Empanadas were alright. Loaded chips for the table. Ate with a few colleagues who ordered else where and we shared all the things we found. A great way to do this place. Also has a full bar

The food was beyond perfect, I tried so much dishes and I'm not a fan of seafood but I tried a few foods that had seafood in it and all I can say is that, they made me love seafood. The staff are so friendly and are always smiling. Love the food and service. If I could, I would give it 10+++

Beautiful name for a beautiful restaurant. Staff was so passionate for what they do and very helpful. Absolutely amazing menu and rich taste, authentically Latin. It is a bit overpriced and I am not a great fan of the fish market - it is a nice idea, but such a good place like Mar & Tierra should have its own full place.

The shrimps are totally recommendable they have a flavour that let you thinking what is it??<br/>The anti cucho with swordfish and avocado was something new to me and was worth to try it as it was delicious. The chorizo and empanada were quite good and were having them with the hairlum tomatoes that were delicious. Staff is super friendly and location was very enjoyable is a good place to spend the afternoon.

I have the pleasure of dining at and around Mar and Tierra every other day, still, every time is simply better than the last. They are always whipping up new dishes for the flavour chaser to try using local seafood in the market right in the same building! The passion and authenticity is clear and can be tasted in each dish, my particular favourites are pictured below and are all a must try! (Pulled brisket on Arepa, Heirloom tomatoes and charred half chicken, and of course Whole cray fish (seasonal))

Excellent Plancha Prawns as it was perfectly cooked and well-seasoned. However I find the flavour of the empanadas confusing. The texture was okay but the filling of chipotle with small amount of prawns was just bland. Also the service was a little slow.

Shared the prawn empanadas and swordfish skewer - really good. The seafood is the freshest in Auckland - being that everything is supplied by the fish market right next door. Also had the pork with kumara mash which was nice, a bit fatty on some of the pork pieces. The only drawback is I was still pretty hungry even though we spent $50, but this is an Auckland hospitality issue, not specific to Mar, with escalating restaurant prices everywhere.

The fish market was buzzing on a sunny Saturday, great vibe and atmosphere. I had the prawn empanadas $12 and the kingfish skewer $22 (note the menu on Zomato isn’t current) . Both tasted great, the kingfish was fresh and they obviously use really good quality ingredients. Definitely recommend the prawn empanadas, the combination with the sauce was amazing! The dishes weren’t particularly filling so was a bit on the pricier side for lunch, but on saying that in par with most places down Wynyard Quarter and the Viaduct.

Best prawns I've ever had. The 'Arepas' is also another standout dish - so different from all the other South/Latin american takes. They also have a half crayfish dish that was a total crowd pleaser!

I've visited Mar & Tierra twice since they opened, and I intend to come back to try every last thing on the menu! I first ordered the chorizo. (I saw them cooking some on the wood grill and couldn’t resist!) It was giant and so tasty, and I particularly loved the charred lettuce and corn cake accompaniments. On the second visit I had the grilled prawns and a crayfish dish (I think it was a special). The prawns were great, but the crayfish...wow, I could eat that every day! (They went down particularly well with a Gin & Tonic from the courtyard bar :) ). The staff were super friendly and it's clear they are passionate about what they do. Loving the overall vibe in the new Fish Market too - I'll be back soon!<br/>Edit: I returned for the third time and tried the octopus and arepas. (I’m now kind of obsessed by arepas!) <br/>They seem to have lowered the prices too, which I reckon was a wise call.

Came at 5pm on a saturday afternoon, heaps of seats and no queue, so i would say its not peak time. Ordered a pork belly for 26 dollars and got 1 skewer of dry, burnt, semi uncook on the inside pork belly after 20 mins wait time. Dont recommend and wont come again. Wish i had a time machine.
