Been twice. Have only had the fish and chips but have enjoyed them both times. Well cooked, not oily, lightly salted. Service is quick (hasn't been busy when I've been). Can recommend.

Beautifully cooked fresh fish in delicious light batter!! Probably the best fish n chips I've had in a very long time. Highly recommend. :)

Great fancy fish n chips. The kransky really does stand out - get the combo for some surf n turf. Pineapple fritter also quite tasteful. Just nice quality fish and chips, probably the best in the West.

Good banter while we wait for the food is always good. Plus food is delicious. Chips were a bit soggy but only a bit. Burgers were nice and fish was outstanding.

A takeaways store. They have a yummy classic burger, which also looks to have far more real meat in their pattie than many takeaways. The classic burger is one of the cheaper burgers and it tastes like a McDonald's cheeseburger but better and far more fulling. Also pickles

Burgers are really tasty. Fish is fresh and of generous proportions. Chips are nicely done too. Can't think of anything I'd change so giving it a 5.

Fish was very nicely done. Not your regular 'fish and chip' shop, more up market style. Prepare for a reasonable wait and a hit to the wallet. Top quality food though.

They were really friendly and changed my order to include lettuce, tomato and onion to my burger; but was so disappointed to cut into the fish and discover it was completely raw. And my burger bun was stale 😬 the chips were yum though? 🤷🏻‍♀️

Used to be really good. Now quality has gone down and price up. $12 for a chicken burger with supermarket patties and other fillings are average. Shame as used to be decent

Love the burgers. Love the chips. Love the crumbed fish. They have an interesting variety of other things too which you wouldn't normally find at a "takeaways". Things like salad, marinated raw fish. They do a lot of Uber orders too which make it deceptively busy.<br/>But the burgers aren't your usual soggy mess of damp buns and greasy fillings, they're crisp and well made.<br/>

Had received a recommendation to try this place out. Unfortunately it did not live up to the recommendation. After waiting nearly an hour for our order we discovered that half our order had been sitting on the counter for 30 mins, burgers in the warmer for 35/40 minutes and the remainder of our order was still being cooked. The fish was frozen and obviously had been defosted as the worker kept walking from the kitchen to the cooker with with half defrosted fish. After we complained about the wait and our food being runied by sitting on the conuter they offered a partial refund but we were not willing to wait any longer for the remainder of our food to be cooked so we left with only part of our order. It may have been slightly better if the food was good but it was absolutely horrid and disgusting, easily some of the worst burgers, fish n chips we've EVER had. My kids who are not normally fussy with fish n chips wouldnt eat the fish which was greasy, dry and old tasting. Wasnt surprised that the chips were cold and soggy considering how long they had been sitiitng on the counter. Burgers were hard and nearly inedible and for the first time ever one of my kids didnt finish his hotdog. More then dissapointing especially considering what they charge for their food. Tarakihi for $5.90 a piece was slighly larger then a fish bite and absolutely not fresh!. Will never ever go back!

Great local fish and chip shop. The variety of burgers is amazing. The two we got (Sexy Mexi and The F&C) we’re big and delicious, cooked perfectly.<br/>The chips were tasty but not crispy, if they there crispy it would’ve been perfect . Definitely would come again to try out more of the burgers.

My chips is always over cooked, burger has funny taste, can't get the wedges right either, soggy wedges is not nice. Not worth the price tbh

Went in at 8:50 pm to grab a quick Fish Burger, no one was in line. Was told by the cook "Sir you cant rush perfection" - 40 mins later, Fish was overcooked, hard and smelly. Bun was hard and stale as well. Since the previous owners are gone this place seems to be going downhill as well.

These are the best burgers I’ve ever had and the milkshakes take you back to your childhood . So good ! Pretty much been here every night since first trying them ! ❤️

Lovely staff and good service, unfortunately the burger was horrid, and my wife threw most of it away. The fish I purchased tasted nothing like tarakihi, and was as disgusting as any cheap fish, which I also ended up throwing away.

Friendly service, and the food is great! My favourite place to go if I want a good burger or some fish and chips. I’m lucky to live down the road from these guys. Just have to make a quick and easy ph order, then going in to pick it up 15 mins later. Love it! Support your local!

there is no consistency here with the service, speed or quality of the food<br/>they seem to struggle to get oil hot enough to get things crisp. (this issue since day one)<br/>last time (which is our last visit we decided ever) it was all soggy, chips were oily and the fist batter was still a bit raw on one side.<br/>would be good also if what we ordered was what was wrapped up as well.<br/>go buy a good deep fryer

Incredibly slow service tonight. Only 2 staff on and the guy in front of me had been already waiting over 30 minutes for an order he was advised would only take 15 minutes. I had my little bubba with me and she had enough so after 30 minutes also of waiting I had to go. Pitty as the food looked good I wish I could have tried it. Pricing here is quite expensive and for a premium price I expect prompt service. Unfortunately it was not so. I don't know if I'll ever be back.

Had been here for several times. <br/>Their chips are awesome, not oily, but crunchy and in a good portion! Instead of the deep fried fish, I had my fish grilled. You can tell that they had taken good care of the ingredient's quality, from the fish to the seasoning, but have to say it's a bit lacking of flavour.<br/>Had tried several kinds of their burgers,both of them taste good. The presentation and portion can guarantee you that the burgers worth the price. <br/>But there's a downside also. I noticed the guy who was doing my fish burger, he was cutting the bun straight away on his hand,without gloves. When he assemmbled the burger, he also grabbed everything just by hand, even for the fish. I don't think this was how he supposed to do with food.<br/>Everything else is fine. Friendly staff, quick service,but please pay attention to hygiene.

We liked the sesame dressing better<br/>Scallops - cooked perfectly and tasted super fresh and sweet.<br/>Burgers - house made meat patties and fresh ingredients. We thoroughly enjoyed ours.<br/><br/>But the icing of this wonderful Lil place is the raw fish salad!! I should have taken pics of our faces when we took our first spoonful. As an islander who's from the North Shore but now resides in Avondale I had been grossly disappointed with quality and taste of raw fish around the area and even as far as west Auckland. This raw fish was the closest thing to how I make it! Loved the addition of coriander ... I might put it in mine now. :) Thanks for the sample that you gave us and I'm going to apologise in advanced but you'll be running out of raw fish a lot faster now lol.<br/><br/>Service is friendly and it's local.<br/><br/>Love it! So good to finally have an amazing fish and chip shop in the area! Totally worth paying a little more for the awesome food and friendly staff.

Just brought three burgers, three pieces of crumbbed fish, chips and Kumara chips. $60.00. Had heard about the amazing reviews of this place and wanted to try it. <br/><br/>Was absolutely beautiful. Non-oily, great quality meat and awesome flavours. The chips were yummy too! The burgers and chips were crunchy. This place is more pricey compared to other fish and chip shops but it is well worth it. As your experience in the food is totally different. You can taste the difference in the quality of the ingredients. They were fast and efficient also. Can't wait to eat there again. <br/><br/>Great local takeaway!! Highly recommend.

Their chips tasted really good. You can tell straight away these aren't your ordinary takeaway greasy oily chips. Seem to be better quality yet not expensive. Seems to be family run, staff was really nice despite us arriving a few minutes before closing.

Really disappointed as our burgers only had ONE piece of tomato ,ONE slice of onion ,and lots of lettuce. However the patties were delicious but I expect a bit more filling. I mean, ONE thin slice of onion, really? Will be trying elsewhere for a great burger.

From the positive comments, we got our hopes up. We drove 4.1kms from Lynfield and 4.1kms back home again, thinking we were in for a taste sensation. When we arrived, there was one couple waiting for their order and while we waited, 2 other people came in for their telephones orders, so I guess we were 4th in the queue. Finally after 30 mins we walked out with our order. So can’t give them any pixie points for quick service. Most of that time waiting, they constantly rechecked and repacked 1 order about 4 times. My observation is that they haven’t got their order processing system down to a fine art yet.<br/><br/>We ordered; 1 full scoop of chips, 2 battered pieces of Tarakihi, 1 battered Hot Dog and a serving of their Lemon Pepper Squid. Normally, we would tear open the bag to let the steam out while driving home. In this case we didn’t, so this might explain why the food may not have been as crisp as we would have liked when we came to eat it.<br/><br/>The serving of chips was generous, but not as crisp as we would have liked, probably for the reason I have given. The Hot Dog was an enjoyable good old-fashion Hot Dog. The fish was well coated and appeared fresh, but lacking as a taste sensation. Probably should have ordered the Snapper which I usually love.<br/><br/>As for the Lemon Pepper Squid, we can’t give it any merit whatsoever. Suspect that they marinate it in an enzyme based marinade first like Kiwi Fruit or some other enzyme based ingredient. The enzyme will tenderise the meat tissue, but if left too long marinating will turn the flesh to mush. The first piece I put in my mouth completely disintegrated as mush with absolutely no squid taste or texture at all. The other pieces had a very slight bit of texture, but still lacked taste. As for the Lemon Pepper, it may be in the description, but it certainly was not on the squid. And finally, they coat the squid pieces in some sort of seasoned flour. When squid is cooked, it tends to curl and on the underside the coating still had that uncooked wet flour taste.<br/><br/>I wouldn’t write off this shop yet, however I will wait some time before going back. Maybe within that time, they may have improved on their processes and product by then.

I have to say woeful service we were completely subbed in favor of someone who pushed passed us and order $2 chips so I don't have any positive to say as I walked out....seriously guys poor

To be honest, I was a little disappointed when we showed up and the old fish and chip/Chinese takeout shop had been replaced with this one. That place did nice chips even if it was a bit dodgy looking. Nonetheless I liked the sound of the lemon pepper squid and got a punnet of chicken salted chips. My partner got a hot dog, a piece of fish, and a scoop of chips.<br/><br/>I am a big fan of salt and pepper squid and eat it whenever I see it on a menu, so I was really looking forward to these. Unfortunately I was really disappointed. I couldn't taste the lemon pepper seasoning and the sauce that came with it was thin and very sour. The overwhelming taste of the squid was egg, I assume from the batter? They weren't crispy at all and quite soggy which was disappointing and I couldn't finish them.<br/><br/>The chips were large, thick cut but seemed a little overcooked/brown coloured and tasted like oil and were really dry. A strange contrast to the undercooked soggy squid. Also could not finish them :(<br/><br/>My partner's fish was very nice but also tasted a little eggy like the squid. On the plus side it was huge and a very thick cut. His hotdog was average.<br/><br/>Maybe it was a bad day but I don't think we'll be coming back. For the price I expected something a little more, to be honest.

Good crispy fish and chips. The area needed a good chippy. Some good extras on the menu like squid and seasoning of choice for your chips is a good touch. Burgers have nice fresh meat instead on cardboard frozen ones. Nice staff too. Recommend

Went here for the first time last night and will definitely be back. Had crumbed snapper and. Hawaiian burger (which was made with free range bacon!) snapper was fresh and big fillet - perfect crispy Panko crumb. yum! Burger was also great and the pattie was very juicy. Finally some good food in the area!

We are so glad this place has opened! Everything we have ever ordered from The Fish and Chippery is beautifully cooked and most importantly fresh! The calamari is amazing definitely a must try.

We went here last night for the first time and are very impressed.  We had the crumbed Tarakihi which was cooked perfectly, very fresh nice sized fillet.  Loved the lemon pepper squid with the chipotle mayo and the beer batter chips were really crunchy.  Will be back to try the burgers.

We ordered chips, fish, bacon burger and raw fish salad. Chips were so yum right balance of crunch and softness - Delish. Raw fish salad amazing, had a hint of heat which I've never had before in raw fish and I looved it! The burger was the absolute highlight. Lightly toasted bun, juicy patty a generous slice of FREE RANGE bacon the burger held together so well and it was nice to not not have to eat half way through the bun to get to the patty. Same price as most burger places but top quality ingredients and taste is supreme. Very satisfied customer.

We had a beef with cheese burger combo and a tarakihi combo along with some lemon pepper squid and cajun popcorn shrimp.  Really good quality food at good prices.  It is more expensive than the other fish and chip shops in the area but the quality of the food makes it worth it.  You can see them cooking the food and the patties are fresh beef and the fish is battered fresh to order.  Everything was really tasty and the seasoning options on the chips are great.  $9.90 for the Tarakihi combo was such a good price considering you get a good serving of chips (not tiny like burgerfuel) and a charlies can of drink.  Same with the burger combo which was $11.50 and I couldn't finish the chips!

So good to have a fresh, clean takeaway store in the area. Our burgers were delicious and the kids loved their kids meals. We have lived in the area for the past 5 years and have found the choice for takeaways very poor so we are so happy to have them just around the corner. Will definitely be our local

I'm not to sure you were ever at this store @ niki b because I had the snapper there and it was delicious great portion sizes when it comes to the chips oh and my favourite battered muscles if you havnt had them your missing out I found the staff to be polite and the owners r locals who grew up in the area and from what I can see take great pride in there product delivery and customer service happy to be a frequent customer

We had high expectations because it looks great, the people seemed nice and the prices were quite high for a fish and chip shop.  Sadly it was probably the worst fish and chips we have ever eaten.  Actually to be fair the chips were really nice.  The fish was thick with batter and very greasy and tasteless, the snapper fillet was a bit smelly, hard and definitely not fresh.  The kids ordered a hot dog which was a cheese filled Kranski sausage on a stick.  Needless to say none of them ate it.  Actually the whole thing was so bad that 2 of the kids made themselves wheetbix for dinner instead.  Such a shame because it would be great to have a good local F & C.

Bought couple of burgers (beef & fish) with chips and kumara chips , quality of the food were great including kind service. It was good to see every order were made as the order was taken and nicely packed to go. Couple of things I have to mention is that, fish and chips were bit too oily , i would understand fish and chips are cooked from the oil and would depend on different people's taste but were bit oily for me. Taste of the burgers were up standard but if I make an suggestion comparing price and quality, I would say the price is bit high. It is good to have an local fish and chip store around, definitely would be looking forward to see them improve.

Food was delicious, got a Fish burger and beer-battered fries. Only request would be milkshakes or more sweet things. The food is definitely a bit more than your standard fish and chip shop but when the food is fresher and of higher quality it's worth it in my opinion.

Very impressed with the quality of food and the fair prices. I had a beef buger with cheese, the pattie was freshly made not frozen like most burger joints. Had a piece of beer battered tarakihi cooked perfectly too. New Windsor has always needed a good fish and chip shop and here it is. The staff very friendly and the place looks great. Will definitely be back.
