Review Jadetown Uyghur Cuisine - Auckland Central

One of the most incredible places. The taste is honestly like no other. Chinese with a distinctive middle Eastern twist to it. The lamb is their speciality and the dumplings is really not like anything else. The seasoning and flavours feels otherworldly. Not to mention the texture of the noodles and the wrapper. Just right.

Service : I want to give 5 stars to the 1st person that serves us. She's very friendly and very suggestive. She helped us choose the menu as this is our 1st time come here. Sadly, the food taste is not to our likeness. I love the chicken that we order, it come with noodles in it. The noodles taste good. I like it very much but overall I have to give the food only 3.5 stars. After we finish the face, the reaction of the girl that serves us is so empty, and it's just giving an unwelcoming vibe. Overall I'm satisfied but if you want to try new dish I recommend this restaurant but don't put your expectations high.

We had The Taste of Silk Road dish, taste sensation! Worth the 30 mins wait time, the owner ensured we were inform of the wait time at the time of ordering. We loved it, meats cooked to perfections, so juicy and perfectly seasoned, the rice and dumplings were authentic, pickled carrots was refreshing. This dish was perfect portion for 3-4 adults. Friendly service and great to see the owner showing such great warmth and care to his customers, very accommodating. We would definitely return again or order delivery. Amazing!

Fantastic lunch on Uyghur food is similar to Afgan or Iranian food. Big plates for sharing. Real yummy hunks of meat on a delicious bed of rice, and the dumplings are delicious too.

Went for a dinner out with friends and this was my first time trying uyghur cuisine. I would have loved to try more items. Great value for money and great flavours as well. The cucumber salad was just moorishly good, yoghurt drink was just a nice balance, the meat bread was flaky and just the right amount of lamb. The braised lamb was waay too much for me to finish but just doggy bagged it for next day. Definitely going to come back to this place

The food is oily, but that’s the charm of it. Once the food hits your tastebuds, it’s hard to stop. They specialise in lamb and naan dishes, and they keep a delicious tradition. Unfortunately, the sweet milk tea does not taste sweet.

Ordered via Ubereats and there was a slight issue with the order (ubereats fault). Told them and they organised delivery for what was missing! Honestly food is amazing whether we dine in or order. If you haven't tried their food yet please do, it's definitely worth it! Family favorite!

Food was amazing especially if you want a mix of Chinese and middle Eastern tastes. Their platter is highly recommended and if you want to add a little bit, plz do try their Ayran drink. Place is a bit congested so you might need to wait but worth it 😁

When we came the restaurant, quite quiet. After ordering the meals, the restaurant already full house. We've been waited for half an hour to serve two dishes. When we finished two dishes. Still have to wait another 15 mins to serve all the rest of dishes that we ordered. Highly recommend the dishes called "秘制烤羊". Yummy!

I used to have an issue with eating lambs. Honestly speaking, I can't stand the wildness of the lamb smell if you do know what I am talking about here. This authentic Uyghur restaurant sweeping away my dearness. The first time in my life finally I am able to taste the deliciousness of the lamb They cook the lamb beautifully, not only to the skewers bbq, also the bond "bao", dumplings, meat wraps they are all heavenly tasty! Oh my gosh I am so in love with the food here! Highly recommended 👍

This Chinese restaurant serves a truly distinctive range of dishes, and the added bonus is that they offer halal options. The staff members are friendly and create a welcoming atmosphere. The food they serve is not only delicious but also fresh. The dumplings, in particular, stand out for being juicy and flavorful. The rice was quite delightful, seemingly cooked with a flavorful stock. However, I found the kebabs a tad dry. Unique taste and nice people short story

This is one of the many restaurants along Dominion Road and decided to come here because it was quite different. We did try to book online beforehand but weren't sure it went through properly but did manage to get a table for the evening. They only have a digital menu where you scan the QR code on the table to their website and menu. The menu has quite a lot of interesting items and it was mostly based on lamb. We grabbed a taste of the silk road platter along with the lamb and potatoes and the hanging kebab. i also tried the ayran which is a thick yoghurt drink. We actually ordered a large amount of food. Enough for the four of us and probably 3 more portions. We started with the lamb and potatoes since it came out first. Tender lamb with almost potato chip-like potatoes sprinkled with chili and cumin. Really tasty and delicious. The taste of the silk road had a selection of different items over their polo rice. The dumplings were quite tasty and soupy, similar to ta xiao long bao but larger and lamby. The pies were interesting with plenty of onions and lamb. I quite enjoyed the meat as well as the rice. The rice was almost like sticky rice but not really sticky. It had a really nice flavour and quite moreish along with the charred meat. It also came with a tart noodle salad which went well with the meal. The hanging kebab was something interesting which was why I ordered it. Lamb bones were rendered, fried to a crisp and hung onto the rack, served with the noodle salad, raw onions, chili sauce and mint sauce. The surface was really crispy and delicious. The meat was quite tender but it did require digging around the bones to get to it. Quite an interesting place with really interesting and tasty food. They prepare and cook lamb really well. worth a visits particularly for the lamb and potatoes, so simple yet so tasty.

Uyghur cuisine restaurant which is quite unique. You need to scan the QR code to see the menu online. We ordered the Stir fried chilli chicken with potatoes, Polo (Braised rice with lamb and carrots, Uyghur style salad, Uyghur style Lamb skewers, Uyghur style Naan bread with a pot of Hot milk tea sweet. The portions are really big and good value. Great fast service!

so good - highly recommend, it is a fusion of 2 amazing cuisines: middle eastern + chinese. there isn't really anything else like it. I recommend the taste of silk road dish, it has a bit of everything and great value. there were 4 of us and we still have leftovers! the meat, rice, dumpling... basically everything is to die for! we will definitely be back!!

everything perfect. always. need pre book 👍🏻

So tasty!! Shared the lamb and potatoes, lamb soup, fried marinated chicken, chilli chicken, cucumber salad and Garlic broccoli between 3 of us. Also the hot milk tea (so yummy). It was wayyyy too much food and we love to eat. At least we have lunch sorted for tomorrow! Some dishes took an age to arrive. Service was friendly. Food was great!

I love it, so yummy and taste food. Big portion, remind me my country food. Highly recommended for people who like central Asian food.

Such a charming small restaurant that serves up an authentic Uyghur flavour, showcases the diversity of food in Auckland is alive. We had the lamb plate and it was grilled perfectly 😋 will come back again

Awesome hybrid of Chinese and middle eastern flavours feat. cumin. But a bit salty.

I was surprised to find an authentic Uyghur cuisine restaurant in Auckland, as it's such a unique cuisine in China. Great for meat lovers~ The uyghur style rice was so aromatic and tasty, must try~ Same to the milk tea, salty instead of sweet, very unique...

First time trying Chinese middle eastern cuisine and this was delightful. The eggplant dish was the winner for me. They deep fried the eggplant so it doesnt get soggy and drenched it with that chili tomato sauce 👌👌 I had to told myself back from getting a second serving!. The lamb kebabs nice and tender. Service/staff wonder even when they were busy. Definitely come here again!

Food is pretty average and ridiculously expensive for skewers compared to even just Go Go Music Cafe across the road. They also don't take Zomato Gold as they say they've discontinued the deal but it's still on the app even a few weeks after we dined here.

This was my first time where I'm consciously aware of eating Uyghur cuisine and I can say it was a pretty decent experience where the food is good quality soulful food with large portion sizes. Coming at about $18 per person after splitting the bill I would say its worth every penny.<br/><br/>I only managed to take one photo but two of the dishes were already eaten as they were really good. From left to right respectively was the stir fried chilli chicken with potatos, stir fried lamb with cumin and Uygher style Stir fried eggplant. The portion of the chicken with pototos was large and tasted decent but not too spicy, however I wish they could have added more noodles that were hidden at the bottom. The stir fried lamb and eggplant was also amazing and satisfied our oily cravings as you can tell. <br/><br/>Unfortunately I didn't manage to take a photo of the other two dishes we got which I thoroughly enjoyed which was the polo(braised rice with lamb) and the Cho Chura (Uyghur style dumplings). The lamb in the polo had a perfect<br/>balance of sweet and saltiness and the Uyghur was a pleasant hearty twist to the traditional dumplings which I'm used to.<br/><br/>Also would not reccommend coming here in large groups as its a relatively small restaurant and we had to have 2 separate 4 seat tables for 8 people.<br/><br/>All in all I am very satisfied with my Uygher experience and may come back again 8/10 🙂.

Get the eggplant. You won't regret it until you've got sudden cravings next week and the day is ruined until you've got more.<br/><br/>The quality of the food can be hit and miss here. Sometimes extremely hot and crispy, sometimes on its way to being cool and soggy. Nonetheless it has always been tasty.

Authentic Halal restaurant. <br/><br/>The cumin lamb skewers were well spiced and tender, however it can be a little too oily or greasy. The fried lamb dumplings were also very tasty and tender.<br/><br/>Their milk tea is very authentic and tasty as well. <br/><br/>The portions are smaller compared to other Chinese restaurants.<br/><br/>Food: 8/10<br/>Food presentation: 6.5/10<br/>Service: 8/10<br/>Ambience: 7.5/10<br/>Value for money: 7/10<br/><br/>Price $25 per person

The kawap is incomparable in Auckland, the meat is really fresh and flavour is just right. So is the polo, which is quite authentic. The laghman, hmmm, is still ok, but not as good as before (I have been a regular customer since they launched), some ingredients in laghman has been replaced I reckon. The naan is far below the genuine Uyghur standard.

This place serves authentic Ughyur food, which is also very similar to Middle Eastern cuisine. Uyghur cuisine is basically comprised of components/ingredients from both Chinese and Middle Eastern food. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀<br/><br/>Pic 1: Stir-fried cumin lamb with rice. Probably the best I have ever had!! I am not that of a lamb person, but this seriously blew me off 😍😍 How crispy and flavoursome it was. I am definitely going back just for this🥳<br/>⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀<br/>Pic 2: Chicken skewers. Tender and juicy 🍢🍢 chicken with a lovely cumin flavour. The taste was real unique but delicious 🤤🤤🤤<br/>⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀<br/>Pic 3: Cho chura (Ughyur style dumplings with soup). That was indeed a huge bowl 🍲Soup was smooth and light with a generous amount of lamb chunks. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀<br/><br/>Pic 4: Ughyur style stir- fried dry noodle. The portion size is appreciable with plentiful chicken, however, was bit too spicy for me🌶🌶<br/>⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀<br/>Pic 5: Chicken noddles with soup. Again a lot of chicken and the soup is so delicious. I just loved the peanuts added on top 🍜<br/>⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀<br/>Overall a delightful dinner and would definitely visit again to try their other signature Ughyur dishes 🤤<br/>

Look at that glorious amount of lamb.

We planned to try a new noodle spot on Dominion road but ended up having a feast at @jadetown_uyghur_cuisine and you know what, this was the best decision we have ever made!!! Their signature Chicken plate with hand pull noodle was insane!!! She’s packed with flavor! You can taste cumin, star anise, chilies, ginger, etc. ~ and the chopped bone-in chicken was so tender and smothered with thick gravy and chili oil~ , which made all there chicken breast dish shameful😂. The noodle at the bottom was chewy and potatoes were just melted in your mouth!!!🧡🧡🧡The lamb skewers were juicy and tender~ and we really loved the strong cumin flavor ~ 😋😋😋<br/>The roasted lamb filled buns were freshly cooked so they were piping hot when arrived and we all loved that~ I personally expected more generous and juicier filling though. We really made a good choice that we ordered that mung bean starch jelly noodle because after all of these oily and greasy dish, we did need something refreshing to refresh our taste buds, and there you go, it’s the jelly noodle ~ it’s savory but not that much, it’s citrusy but not that much, either and somehow it’s just in between the plain and flavorsome taste and this ‘in between’ flavor magically worked, giving us a good ending.😋😋😋 We would definitely visit there again ~ and bring more friends to share and enjoy more dishes ~ yum!!!

Good uyghur cuisine you can try. The lamb is nice. Chilli spice is good. Dumplings skin too thick. The rice is tasty.

Nice Food and Friendly Staffs. <br/>A small restaurant sitting in the busiest area on Dominion Road. <br/>Ambient 4/5<br/>Service 4/5<br/>Food Quality 5/5<br/>Food selections 5/5<br/><br/>It would be better if they could also service alcohol.<br/><br/>Nice place - JadeTown Uyghur Cuisine<br/><br/>Will come again. 😋

I'm already a frequent to this restaurant, would come with my hubby and son every other week. The XinJiang style rice with lamb and carrot is a classic, it's my must order every time. The only comment on this dish is its a bit too oily sometimes. The side salad is a wonderful balance to this. If you order take away, dont forget to ask for the side salad.<br/><br/>My husband likes the steamed meat buns, and have it with the tea with milk and salt. Sounds like a strange combination but it's truly the way of a culture.<br/><br/>Interior is nicely decorated, owner is very friendly. Definitely recommend!<br/>

Really delicious food and cheap eat! The lamb was wonderful. Spicy is different to the one we had tried before. One dish + one vege can be shared with two people and totally full enough.

Really delicious western Chinese style food( very similar to Middle East food too). The polo and lamb kebabs are very tasty and authentic, I guess that is because chefs are native Uyghur people. Well priced food, recommended:)

The lamb skewers is my favourite in this restaurant . I’m regularly coming for dinner with my family my kids they love to eat polo rice ( braised rice with lamb and carrots) definitely place for the meat lovers Highly recommend!!
Pig Cat
A place to taste Northeastern Chinese cuisine. Recommend the chicken with potatos, polo(braised rice with lamb and carrot), lamb skewers and handmade noodles.
