Review Starbucks Queen Street - Auckland

Justin Wong
Warm and inviting Starbucks with comfortable seating. Friendly service and willing to answer questions. The steak and cheese hand pie was tasty. And I was game to try the hot chocolate with dairy milk because I've heard that milk tastes better in New Zealand.

I came here a few times and I can say that the staff is very nice ! Even when there are a lot of people, they take time and are always pleasant and polite. Drinks are always good, my favorite basic for everyday : caramel macchiato !!

Nice layout of the cafe: two stories with quiet nooks with enough space to spread your things out. Can get busy and a bit loud, and wifi can be hit or miss, especially upstairs. Staff was consistently nice and drinks were always great!

Green tea is nice. I got the small size ($6.1) add oat milk +$1. It s always busy here :) Sometimes very long queue.

Consistent Starbucks quality with other branches. Can get cramped due to space/demand disparity but if you get a spot inside it's pretty cozy. It opens till 10 so that's good if you're a night coffee drinker, they'll give you a gentle reminder when they're about to close up in 10 minutes.

Nice place to chill when you are tired. Quite busy during rush hours so the waiting time will be a little bit long and sometimes the staff will get our orders wrong. But overall very nice!

Shout out to Peter who made sure we got exactly what we ordered and for being super friendly. He is a great guy and makes Starbucks Queen Street a favourite place to visit 😄 see you next time! ☕

Nice staff. Sometimes you have to wait - that’s the only cafeteria open in reasonable hours in this town… Most others close at 5pm… No competition around.

Best coffee in town. They make the yummiest coffee, frappuccino, Teas, cold beverages. I have tried their many flavours like (Triple mocha, strawberry cream, cookies & cream, mocha java chip, white chocolate mocha ). All of them where so tasty, delicious & amazing.Bit expensive but quality and taste is really good. The staff was very kind and helpful. Thank you.

This Starbucks is located right on Queens street and has great service. Lot of places to seat and plenty of options for tea and coffee. The seating area on top is specially more relaxing. You can wear alone or with a group and it is just wonderful. Totally love the friendly service. In my opinion it is a good spot for a group date too.

The most of the times Starbucks outside of US are terrible but here in NZ and especially this place they have good quality of coffees and drinks... plus the have pretty big variety of snacks and sweets... nice place always crowded and it has at the second story floor couches and comfy chairs to enjoy your drink and work on your laptop... I like to go there and spend some time...

excellent service, everything was delicious and something that I really liked was the decoration of the place, it was spacious and had beautiful paintings

Nothing wrong with the food itself. But you wouldn’t really expect them to just chuck the cheesecake into a bag without a plate and fork or spoon. The store wasn’t busy and the staff couldn’t care less.
Renie
Tea and coffee are good. However, I always find it difficult to find seating at this branch. Also, the tables upstairs are hardly cleaned so customers normally have to get rid of the cups on the tables. But location is really convenient right in the middle of Queen St!
Shannon
This place is always so busy. They have a lot of inside seating but people seem to park up with their laptop for a long time so you’d be lucky to get one. This store doesn’t have such an American vibe. My Frappuccino had a slight odd taste. I probably wouldn’t come back to this location again.

Great coffee, but this place always has a long line. The caramel and drink sauces and bits are always very little compared to USA. Kinda like they are on a budget. If they can provide more to their drinks and not be sauce stingy I think will be better. <br/><br/>Service: 3/5<br/>Environment: 4/5<br/>Presentation: 3/5<br/>Drink Quality: 3.5/5<br/>Drink Quantity: 4/5

Decided to pop in for a drink as we were out and about shopping on Queen Street.<br/><br/>All I can say is 2 words " Absolutely Shocking" 🚫<br/><br/>Being a coffee and a mocha fan...I ordered a mocha and my partner ordered a white hot chocolate with soy milk.<br/><br/>Both drinks were "Tasteless"... it was like drinking water with sugar in it. Asked the guy who was making the drinks to add chocolate/coffee to get it to taste better or add some taste to the drink...it came back tasting worse than what it was when I ordered it.<br/><br/>Plus we waited for over 15 mins for our drinks which I thought wasnt acceptable.<br/><br/>Also the use of plastic straws should be forbidden.<br/><br/>Definitely would reccomend other coffee joints.<br/><br/>Starbucks, you have just lost a customer.<br/><br/>Please please do something about your drinks.<br/><br/>Ambience : ⭐⭐⭐⭐<br/>Staff : ⭐⭐⭐<br/>Price : ⭐⭐<br/>Drink : ⭐<br/><br/>

Popped in for a drink with a friend here and I got my usual - iced shaken passion lemon tea with extra lemonade. My friend had a white chocolate frappucino and both our drinks tasted good. My friend also had a vanilla slice that she didn't really enjoy as the pastry felt a bit like cardboard. This particular starbucks is usually quite busy so it does take a little while for you to get your order. There is seating upstairs which is good but they still use plastic straws so I think they should make the change to paper or metal.

Me and a friend got a frappe here this morning before heading off to walk around town and was quite upset with how long our caramel frappes but i guess it was okay considering there were so many people waiting for their coffees. All i could say is this Starbucks doesn’t make the best frappes as i’ve had better in others but was still good, a kinda bland taste tho. The ambience wasn’t too big but would be fine if there wasn’t too many people inside.

My daughter and I always enjoy Starbucks, we have our favourite orders and it’s always delicious but I decided to sit in the lounge seats today and it made me really uncomfortable because everything is so worn and filthy, the artwork is so outdated - they are seriously overdue for a new fit-out - it always makes me wonder whether the establishment has any respect for their patrons when they allow the environment to deteriorate to that degree! 😳
Asianfoodie
Quick and efficient!! It is always extremely busy and packed with people, but it is a place where I always visit to get the chocolate or caramel drinks.

Food: one of the best starbucks in Auckland. There are cheaper coffee stores but really can’t beat in terms of frappuccino range and taste. Prefer to get iced drinks at starbucks over hot coffee. <br/><br/>Atmosphere/Interior: Lots of seating and small tables. It is often full though.<br/><br/>Service: friendly<br/><br/>Parking: city. only visit when walking past.

Food: 4/5<br/>Service: 4/5<br/>Overall: 4/5<br/><br/>This Starbucks is always so busy regardless the time of the day. The drinks came out very quickly. I really enjoyed the hazelnut hot chocolate drink:) and it was first time Starbucks staff spelt my name correctly 😅
Sam Diprose
Staff were all friendly and looked like they were having a good time, place was clean and well stocked. The mint tea from Starbucks is the best mint tea around :)
Youngji.lee.nz
I always order the same thing and they sometimes charge differently without explaining. When I ask they answer "the machine does not read a tumbler discount for now is this okay?" I would've said yes if they'd informed me before I ask.. anyways their drink is good
LuNa The TuNa
This shop always super busy and need to wait around 10mins to get your drinks. But quality is not bad, still a standard quality flavour.service is ok
Sassy Radish
Yes Starbucks is absolutely mainstream and somewhat over-rated. The one thing i can guarantee is that they do make very good iced lattes and coffee. If your wanting something sweet but don't want the added guilt try a iced coconut latte with 5 pumps of sugar free vanilla, this will change your world.

A famous coffee chain and the the outlet on Queen Street is the one I'd usually go to if I had to. Service is good and the coffee and drinks are nice. My favourite drink is Mocha Java Chip Frappuccino. However the cafe is not really clean most of the time I visit :(
Rosanne Choy
Came in today after lunch because friend needed some caffeine but instead we got the strawberry shortcake frap. The strawberry wasn't too sweet or strong. It was perfect. Whipped cream on top made it taste like a milkshake. They spelt my name wrong but the staff were friendly.
Bailey
A very nice branch of the popular coffee chain. Came here during their happy hour- half priced frappucinos and ordered thr peppermint mocha frappucino. Was sweet and had a delicious distinct taste. It was very busy at the time I went due to the happy hour, however I was very impressed with how well the staff handled the high customer basis and I did have to wait very long at all to be served and to get my drink.
Anastasia Lee
Great customer service, however the state of the café was horrible. There were plates stacked by the walls and cups, with other peoples mess on the table too. In fact, every table was like this. I feel like they should get staff to check up and clean the mess once every 30 minutes (as it is a busy and fast paced café). The drinks were also tasty as per usual.

Queen st Starbucks is my fave always get the drink right and taste amazing I've been too many and some are too sweet or tasteless. They make it perfect every time :)

Good place to grab a coffee in the mornings before uni or work. Pricing is the same as any other Starbucks and their service is pretty good! Quite a big cafe as there's an upstairs area you can sit in.
L K
Love that they close midnight. When in need of a coffee fix late night you can always count on these guys come through with the goods. Bring on Queen st it is hard to find a park so I normally park around the back of the stores.
Heidi
Got them 50% off so it was totally worth it. It felt kinda strange coming to this outlet since most of the people queuing were mostly asian. I tried the Pumpkin Spice Frappuccino and my friend got the Double Chocolate Frappuccino. Super delicious and yummy, must try more different flavours next time!
Michelle Chua
At least one of most student top spot to go for after a long day at uni or a buskers on the street. <br/><br/>Clean and staffs are very attentive. Just right in the middle of town which is very convenient. Finally, there's more than two tills which makes the queue even shorter.
Ravi
Great location in the CBD with awesome customer service. There is quite a range of food to eat and drink here. You can also get a seat here upstairs and could catch up with your friends while enjoying a coffee of frappe.
The Cheesy Ravioli
Doesn't matter which Starbucks you go to the quality is always mediocre at best!It is know for it's logo and price tag, that is all.. They have seasonal strange coffee creations which are interesting, but better suited to ice-cream than coffee (unless you like your coffee tasting like overly sweet syrup and candy). I have been here more than I care to admit (about 5 times), but last time there was a person sleeping on the couch with one hand where it shouldn't have been... Not a great experience, and not at all relaxing which is what I was hoping for. Props to them for always getting my name right, it does have seven letters after all.

Prompt service and fast and didnt have to wait long for my coffee to br made. the staffs were friendly. good cozy warm environment to enjoy a coffee.
Janice McCartain Dagg
So warm and inviting this location. The decor is warm and homey, to me anyway. Went here for a 6AM Mocha Java Chip Frappe. Loved it, as always. Quality and that cream and chocolate sauce top notch. Had a buy one get one free Frappe voucher so saved $7.90, bonus! Also got a Flat White for my dad which he really enjoyed. Definitely shall be back.

Have been here so many times during uni days. It's always so busy here. Staff are friendly even though it's so busy, service is pretty quick considering the amount of people they serve when it's busy. <br/><br/>I like how they have seating upstairs. That's a good lounging area to catch up with friends over a coffee or just to chill out.<br/><br/>Frappes are good here but a bit messy and sticky on the actual cup.
Aldous Wong
What a shit and terrible Starbucks!! I went in to order tall cappuccino and ham & cheese toastie half way of my cappuccino those idiots still not getting my Ham & Cheese toastie l complaint twice to able to get my toastie but instead of having in the Starbucks l had to takeaway. This is definitely the worst Starbucks in New Zealand. The idiots staffs need more training.

We went to Starbucks along the Queen Street. We love this café. We think everyone knows Starbucks, so it is easy to find it.<br/><br/>We ordered Caramel Frappuccino. It tasted good and sweet. The staff was kind and friendly. We thought it was similar to Japanese one. It is near the ELA, so you can go there easily after school.<br/><br/>However, there were some bad points. The Frappuccino was a little bit expensive though it was worth drinking. Also, it is located in a big city, so many people were there and it was noisy. In addition, we could not use Wi-Fi service.<br/><br/>We highly recommend this café if you want to drink something delicious.
Split The Bill
This was a great Starbucks in the middle of Auckland city, all the staff were extremely well trained and provided exceptional fast service.<br/>This is over 2 levels and provided ample seating and ethere was no requirement to lingre around and wait for a seat at all.<br/>They also provided great souvenirs too.<br/>Access to wifi was patchy but with the comfy couches I can't  complain too much.
Arushi Thapar
Located in the CBD, this one's one of the busiest outlet in Auckland. <br/>Always love coming to Starbucks. You get to have a great time with friends along with some really good coffee. Friendly staff though at times the service is slow but that's only when its too busy. If the management could do something about it, then that'd be great!

With the Aotea Square Starbucks closing down, I've started to look for alternatives for my morning coffee. This Starbucks seemed like an okay alternative - close to work and, well, it's Starbucks, so all the same, right?<br/><br/>Unfortunately, due to its location and the recent closure of the nearby Starbucks, this one is particularly busy. The quality of service and coffee reflect this. Staff are efficient, but that's about it. You can't seem to sense any friendliness from them; it's just order taken, payment received, and move along. The quality of coffee is also lackluster - lukewarm with barely any coffee taste.<br/><br/>Whilst looking for a replacement for Aotea Square Starbucks, I may have instead stumbled upon one I'll cross of my list of morning cafes to visit. I'm starting to miss the other Starbucks already.
Marggie Pascua
This starbucks is always, like ALWAYS full of people. Some people are just sitting there and not ordering a drink, especially the seats outside. The drinks are average, the same old starbucks. This is one of the starbucks that has a lot of seats. Just annoying that it gets so hectic outside due to people waiting for the stop light and also the people dancing outside in front of starbucks/burger king/sketchers.
Spencer's Reviews
Cafe is always frazzled when I'm there. Not much organisation, sometimes you can be waiting at the till for a person to serve you or there will be a long line. Quality of the drinks also could be improved. Love the arrangement of seating, cleaner than most Starbucks I've been to.
Lovely Maralit
Tonight I tried the new drink chestnut white chocolate truffle. It was delicious! I definitely prefect that than the strawberry red velvet mocha. The cinnamon rolls are my go to for something to eat. I like this location because of their upstairs couches (when vacant)
Tavita Milford
Their service is pretty good as compared to other Starbucks outlets. Ordered a chocolate frappe and I was not disappointed, it was great. Please don't judge on the frappes bit hahaha.
Kayla McMinn
Love Starbucks, close to uni and loyalty cards are amazing! Service is great and fast, wifi and heaps of seating. Had a muffin as well once and really enjoyed it, quite expensive for a regular thing but a nice coffee is worth it!
Kelly
This long has been a favourite place to hit up since waaaaaay back haha. Great location, friendly, and attentive staff ☺️ <br/><br/> Ordered my default, double chocolate chip frappé 😍 always delicious, not an overload of chocolate. Generous serving of cream on top.<br/><br/> Love it! One of the better Starbucks branches ☺️<br/><br/>
Danny
Nice central location to catch up for a coffee. I like the seating on the upper level. Service here is generally pretty good too.<br/><br/>My only gripe is that their wi-fi can be quite unreliable (in terms of speed as well as the data limit) - to me this is quite important when it comes to a Starbucks because I think of them being as much a work space as a coffee shop.
Mary Underwood
I'm sure I ordered a trim mocha (I know my coffee order by heart) however it somehow morphed into some weird soy creation. Imagine if I had a soy allergy? The wait time for a near empty cafe Is frankly ridiculous. The pseudo joyous crappy xmas music blasting out at top volume is cringe worthy. <br/>I only came here as I took a different route this morning. I ordered a cinnamon roll which I had to ask for twice and that no amount of microwaving could disguise the staleness. <br/>Starbucks you have become this corporate entity which I try not to frequent! But sadly ventured in here as I needed my hit.
Charlotte
Better than most Starbucks in terms of their frappucinos. I usually order a double choc chip and this branch always gets it fast but always tastes nice. They have two floors so it's actually very big and has plenty of seating space.
Keana Dela Cruz
This starbucks branch is where me and my friends go for our so-called "starbucks wednesday" haha. I always get the caramel Frappuccino and ofc it is always good, I have tried others but I always and will go back to caramel frap. One downside is that it gets so packed everytime we get there but either than that just your usual after uni starbucks wednesday :D @zomatostudents

One of the two Starbucks branches in Queen Street. This one is different just because it has a second floor- in case you want to get away from the busy vibe of the first floor with everyone walking in and out. This one is open till 12, just like the other Queen St branch which I think is appropriate for its location. The place is always clean and the seats upstairs are really comfortable! But I would say that this is best for catch ups instead of studying because the tables are a bit too low and small to put books in. They just misspell my name from time to time but who doesn't experience that right? One of the best branches I reckon.
Ed
This Starbucks is one of the better ones. A bit cosy like the Metro one up the road, it offers a bit more space compared to a typical cafe.<br/><br/>Food: 5/10<br/>Service: 3.5/5 <br/>Ambience: 3/5<br/>Value: 2/5<br/>Overall: 13.5/25

This Starbucks branch is one of the better ones. The service is usually always friendly and they're open late as well! There are two floors at this Starbucks, and I love meeting a friend and just relaxing in the couches upstairs! They're usually taken most of the time, but if you're lucky you might get one as someone leaves haha. Coffee has always been decent at this branch, and hardly anything beats a Starbucks frappuccino! This branch is super busy all the time though, but will definitely visit again.

This STARBUCKS on queen is more busier then other Starbucks near AOTEA SQUARE but not GOOD. But the good thing is that seating area is very good upstairs.very nice place to sit upstairs when you are with friends. However,in afternoon it's very hard to get good seat.<br/>All things are fine.<br/>Customer service : 3/5<br/>Quality of Coffee :3.5/5<br/>Wifi: NEVER WORKING 0/5<br/><br/>2.5 <br/>Edit 1 July 2017 <br/>My wifi never connects <br/>The splash page keep loading.<br/>However wifi of people outside is working <br/>The atmosphere inside is good.

This Starbucks outlet is open late and has got seating on two floors. Food/beverages are standard. Staff is overall friendly. Will go again.

It is a usual place for me to catch up with friends or to enjoy a bit of alone time. I love getting a green tea latte and sitting in one of the couches upstairs. it is quite busy most of the time I have been there and it is difficult to always get a nice seat, but I guess it is in a prime central location and Starbucks is just generally well loved by students and working professionals alike.
Ryan
Not a fan of the coffee, but the frappes and iced drinks aren't bad. Good place to hang out as there is a lot of seating and very central. Can get very busy.
Victoria
This ones my favourite out of the various Starbucks locations in town. Coffee is always decent, fast service and a good amount of seating with floor space upstairs. Good choice if you feel like going to a cage later in the day as most things start closing.
Hemant Kaushal
Ordered a iced flat white..3ple shot..nice..cold and crisp..served super fast...nice atmosphere..right in d middle of the bustle and bustle of queen street..a coffee lovers paradise..
Jaya
Pretty OK place if you like Starbucks--I'm generally not a fan, but I do like their green tea lattes without added sugar. Green tea lattes aren't popular in other coffee shops, so whenever I get a craving, Starbucks it is.
Sellyna Lee
I come to Starbucks quite often to get my daily dose of coffee to wake me up for class. Being that I usually go to Starbucks in the morning, the employees are very nice and friendly and are very bubbly. I really like the customer service that they provide which makes it easier to order coffee early in the morning.
Ron Goh
I ordered Soya Flat white from there. They have gave me just soya milk with no espresso. This is the first time ever i had a coffee with no expresso in it. Unbelievable! Stop talking there staffs! Do your job!
Jean Lee
The problem with chain coffee shops - bad coffee. The baristers seem to not know if their shots are burnt and dont seem to realise the machine needs to be cleaned after a busy period. Everytime i came to starbucks on Queen St, the coffee was overly hot and coffee was burnt. When I had ordered a short black, the coffee was just burnt and had an utterly displeasing after taste. The green tea lattes are overly sweet or overpowering with green tea which leaves a bitter after taste as well. The flat whites are like capuccinos and the capuccinos are a cup of foam.
DAWO
Disappointed with my Cappuccino! I ordered grande but it was just half full of foam. Will try local cafe instead.
Jesse Jackson
My friend and I ordered a caramel frappuccino and they put in too much ice so the caramel flavour was lost fairly quickly, probably wouldn't go back, only if I really had to ?
Shirley Yu
Every time I go to Starbucks, I would like to order Green Tea Frappuccino with cream. It is fantastic to taste the fresh cream and the green tea flavor. My boyfriend also recommend the vanilla Frappuccino. It is sweeter than the green tea one, but it is also great to have one. Nice visit!
M A
We went to Starbucks today around 2pm. We had the worst service and coffees we've ever had in Starbucks. We've been to Starbucks in US, Canada, Australia, Japan and Thailand! This starbucks was the worst one! I'm not gonna go to Starbucks in Auckland for sure.
Jimmy Jai
A premium coffiee shop for good coffiee, though the coffiee still tastes good, its still missing the service that a single coffiee shop has&gt;&lt;

Like any coffee store, how good your drinks are depends on the barista and your own personal taste. <br/><br/>I had the worst experience with a girl at the imax branch, and after laying a complaint about her customer service and attitude (she was chewing gum while serving us too...), we found her at the other queen street branch, with the same attitude. <br/><br/>Most staff at this branch are super friendly and remade my drink when it wasn't right. I don't like the fact there's a code on the door to get into the bathroom and you need to ask for it (especially since this one is always really busy) but i guess that helps to keep homeless people out? <br/><br/>I love their green tea frappuccino (with an extra shot of green tea) and their shaken ice teas (red one). Their macarons are a hit and miss, some flavours are good whereas some aren't very tasty (lemon and passionfruit were good). The lemon tart looked good and was heated up for me but tasted horrible. There was this gross after taste, similar to metal and flour mixed together. My friend said it tasted like 'fork' - like when you put metal cutlery in your mouth sometimes u get that weird taste? That's kind of what it tasted like.
Vivien @ KJAS Blog
I ordered the limited edition mint cookie crumble mocha frappuccino as I was curious to try this seasonal drink they'd been marketing. You can also get a biscotti spoon for five dollars to go with your mocha frappuccino. I was disappointed by this drink since you pay considerably more than a usual mocha frappuccino but it's really no different apart from a sprinkling of oreo cookie crumbs and two shots of mint syrup I couldn't see or taste in the entire drink. I like how you can get your own straw, spoon or cup holder by yourself after they've given you your drink. Saves them time, and also you get to take what you'd like. Starbucks also provides the usual great presentation and delicious taste, but I just felt like the service at this branch was a bit lacking. When I enquired about the lack of mint taste, the lady there just shrugged and I haven't received a reply from the company following my complaint almost a month ago. Opt for a simple but delicious plain mocha frappuccino instead, everyone.
