Review Chip N Dayal's Fish And Chips - Auckland

First time trying this place out and I wasn't disappointed. Best fish and chips I've ever had. Tried the spicy snapper burger which was quite filling and also had snapper and chips. Perfectly cooked fish, yummy batter, crispy. So happy to find a fish and chips spot that didn't have that disgusting old oil flavour in their food like most fish and chips places in the country. Will be back to try more items from the menu.

Love this fish and chip shop! Very fresh and crunchy batter. Nicely salted, but probably with table salt. I gave a 4* because they do use Canola Oil, which nearly all do, but it has been shown to be very bad for long-term health. Only a chip shop in Glen Innes called Marsic use lard that I know of....so this is my highest rating without lard. Lovely staff. Quite fast and very diligent. Very fresh fish battered on site. Would highly recommend but not as an everyday due to the Canola (look up Canola dangers).

First time we have been here. I was asking around friends of any good takeaways that they know of or have been to. They had heard of this one. A little expensive because we had burgers. Totally understandable with the price of food these days. I have to say, they were delicious. If a works burger can fill up my hubby, it has to be good. Great service, great food. Next time I will do a phone order as it is very popular, wait time if you order there can be a little long but they do tell you upfront. Appreciated the kind gesture of the bottle of drink for our dinner. Definitely worth the trip.

Highly recommend! Had 1 piece each crumbed & battered snapper (great flavor, not overbattered, tasted fresh as, not slimy like some places). Chips (large) were amazing & cooked through. Pineapple rings (x4) great, not overbattered & perfect amount of cinnamon. $52 all in which fed 3 adults with chips left over. Service from the young girl was very friendly & she helped us order the best deals.

Best fish and chips shop I've been to In a long time.its hard to find places who cook fresh fish from scratch instead of pre battering it like alot of places do these days. Food was perfectly cooked and my son who is a picky eater said its the business. quintessential kiwi food Definitely will be back

This is a high-quality local fish and chip shop. While the pricing is a little steeper than you could find, and you do tend to wait a little bit longer than they'll tell you on the phone in peak times, the end result is worth both of those compromises. We travel ten minutes, past other lower-priced stores and other fast food restaurants, and are yet to be disappointed. Will keep coming here as long as we are in the area.

Great local fish n chips. Definitely order up on the chips as the portions are small. We order 3 serves for 2 adults and 2 kids under 7.

I have lived in ellerslie for 2 years and i have just found this take away . How did i miss it as its only 5 min away from me . Its been a great experience so far . I first tried a egg burger Omg the best burgers I have ever eaten and i have eatten a few, the generous home made meat patties mmmm great salad fillings, including beetroot, the burger buns are even yummy . I then have had some potstoe fritters , u order 2 you get 4,,, standard practise , they are a good size nice and crispy. Perfect thickness and not oily but then i tried the home made spring rolls omg light and crispy with a realy tasty filling not the stanard tasting spring rolls from other take aways these are unique to this take awsy . I can't wait to try the curry rolls. I ordered two the next time . They have a great menu with variety and a couple of unique items, which u will need to visit to find out they offer a selection of 3 fish i think Place is so clean and tidy . I have waited 45min for an order and i had no problem waiting as it was worth the wait . Next time I rang it through so i suggest you do this as it has a very large and loyal customer base . Also they do close around 7.30 -8 ish so dont leave too late . This place is probably my best takeaway ever and I have had a few takeaways in my time . It's the little things that count like Mr Dayal brought my order out to me in my car where I was waiting, its the way they wrap their burgers up for you ,I know it sounds silly but it makes a difference , the burgers stayed nice and warm. I look forward to slowly working my way through their menu .

Just moved to the area and been here 3x, always so happy with the service and quality of food! Definitely gonna be a frequent customer. Great portion, reasonable price. The chips are really good, crispy outside and soft inside. Love the lemonfish. I was a bit ditzy and forgot my tartar sauce yesterday, and today the owner give it to me when I came there again. Thanks!

Ordered some fish and chips from here the other evening - incredibly easy click and collect service, just called in advance and our order was ready at the time they said it would be :) Chips were crispy on the outside, soft in the middle and not overly oily. My grandad loved the fish - possibly best we've had in a while. Will definitely return to support our local businesses :)

Best fish n chip shop I've had in Auckland! Well cooked chips and beautiful fresh fish with a yummy batter or crumb. Seriously the best doughnuts as well! Phone order is best as quite busy so 20min wait or so. Only fault is they have missed some things on the order a couple of times but the owner checks and quickly resolves with a free drink as well so very good service. Highly recommend!

Amazing fish and chips and incredibly kind owners. We also get generous portions and the fish is cooked beautifully. We’ve tried a lot of places all around Auckland, and Chip n Dayal’s is by far the best. Highly recommend.

How lucky are we to finally have a fish and chip shop that delivers on freshness and flavour and isn't greasy. I throughly enjoyed my bacon and egg burger all fresh ingredients and a descent burger paddie, chicken nuggets and prawns were delicious and a special shout out to the homemade potato fritters. Yum!!!! Chips aren't greasy and are crisp and fluffy, just how chips are supposed to be. Highly recommend checking this place out, to top it all off a beautiful family run the business. I'll be back for sure.

Pineapple fritters - the best I've EVER had. Batter on the fish like no other fish n chips I've had what magic ingredients are in it? Fresh tasting fish - yummy!. Tasty squid rings. Chips delish. Everything seasoned and cooked to perfection.. 10/10

Pretty good fish and chips. Can be a lil too greasy but atleast the oil is always clean and fresh. This outlet has a lot of specials available and at a very cheap price. Potato fritters are especially nice from here. <br/>Only thing is this outlet has really random operating hours and is never open consistently???

I gave it a 4 star because IMO it is the tastiest fish n chips and always fresh in my area. They have a varied menu at reasonable prices, plus very pleasant owners. I don't need to drive extra kms to get my weekly fix on fish n chips. Well done, from Roy.

I will always give people the benefit of the doubt. However, judging by my experience I can only say that I am one very, very disappointed customer. <br/><br/>Listen, I'm a chubby gal who diets consistently and sometimes as a cheat day I want nothing more than to submerge my face in some good old greasy fat chips and thicc battered fish. So I was absolutely gutted and rather repulsed when I found a hair sticking out of my fish, waving and taunting me like 'hah that's what u get for cheating on yo diet'. <br/><br/>Needlessly to say, I won't be coming here again. Although I will say that the customer service was friendly and congenial, and hey maybe it was a once off idiosyncrasy. But sometimes once is just too many.

So yummy and fresh. The batter on the fish was lovely and light. Had the kumara chips which were a tad under cooked, but other than that, this is great fish n chip shop. Will definitely be a regular here!

We were originally out to get dumplings but then stumbled on this shop, and I'm so glad we did! It's very hard to find quality cheap vegetarian burgers with substance in Auckland, and I was left so satisfied by their burger I can't wait to get it again. It's basically two burgers in one as it had a whole potato fritter in there as well.  And you can't beat the price.<br/><br/>Service was also great. Fast, easy and friendly. Highly recommended.

We have not eaten fish and chips for a long long time and was glad that we came here to break the fast. There were kumera and wedges on top of fries. We did find the kumera a bit dry and needed a dipping sauce. We also had the yummy fish cake and potato fritters. The battered fish was good too. The owners are a lovely couple with a polite young man helping behind the counter.
