Although they forgot to put chicken salt on our chips, these are still the best chips we have found! The gluten free Hamburger was also the best I have ever had, better than burger fuel etc, it was DELICIOUS.

In my opinion fish stop is by far the best fish and chips out west. The fish is always super fresh, I usually get hoki and scallops and they are fantastic. they use a batter that is light and non-oily and the chips are always perfectly cooked. Really great value for the quality you get. I love this place, hands down my favorite fish and chips in Auckland.

Delivery order. Very generous portions and food incredibly fresh. Crumbed Snapper was delicious, the batter on potato fritters some of the lightest, freshest and crispiest batter I've ever had, chips were tasty and the beef spring rolls also great. First time ordering from here but will definitely order again.

Battered or crumbed fish. Gluten free batter options. Clean fried food. Hamburgers full and flavoursome. Better to phone order in if you don't want to wait around as they're often very busy

Ordered from Uber eats yesterday had chips and potato fritters ordered 2 and they gave me 4 they were absolutely delicious and had chicken salt too it made my day thank you fish stop

A proper fish and chip store run by real people. The fish is truly fresh and the staff are polite and well mannered. The prices are good for what you get too - this is probably as good if not better than the famous mongonui fish and chip shop up north. But with far more value for money. Keep up the good work.

Definitely "The best out west". Beautiful fresh fish and chips, and you can choose whether you want want salt or not and what kind of salt. The prices are a bit higher here compared to other fish and chip shops but they are definitely higher in quality too. They also offer gluten free batter and some delicious burgers that cost around the same as a McDonald's burger but taste a thousand times better.

Absolutely loved the meals, the crumbed fish and crumbled banana was my kid’s favorite. The oysters were just delicious and fresh, makes feel like swimming in the summer ocean. I would highly recommended to all, specially with such valuable price.

Best gluten free fish I've had in 16 years! Really enjoyed the pineapple fritter and potatoes fritters and chips aswell. They have a separate vat. I'll be back.

Literally THE BEST takeaways I’ve been to. Their takeaways is never greasy, the batter for everything is perfect. And if you like potato fritters then this is the place to come because they have THE BEST fritters out. Definitely worth it!

Prices on uber eats are absolutely ridiculous. $4.50 for an oyster or scallop which hadn't even been battered properly let alone cooked. For $60 worth of fish and chips we expected a high level of quality for the high level of money they charge. Very average and will not go back.

This is the best fish & chip shop out west...possibly even the best in Auckland! They are always consistent and their chips are so so good! The salt n pepper calamari also deserves a special mention...it's amazing!

Just purchased my fish and chips this evening from Fish Stop Glen Eden. We were again disappointed with what we received. The 2 fish were greasy, one piece was way bigger than the other. The Potato Fritters were over cooked bordering on burnt.  This is the 2nd time we have had the oil dripping off the meal. Don't think we will be returning in future. For what we got the prices too expensive.

Our favourite fish and chip shop! Being gluten free, I find it hard to find good fish and chip shops that cater to me so I was super stoked when I discovered this gem just up the road from us. It is pricier, but totally worth it - the seafood always tastes super fresh and their chips are great!

I have eaten here before and the quality is really good but pricey and the wait time is long. <br/>But tonight ruined it for me,  <br/><br/>I placed a phone order here tonight knowing the wait time in store sucks.  I was told 15 minutes.  I don't like waiting so I waited 15 minutes before leaving my place ( about 3 minutes drive away) <br/>I ordered a very specific order; Fish, chips, 1 crab stick, 2 scallops and a pineapple fritter.<br/>When I arrived the young server was serving a lady.  I waited and then when he finished serving her he ignored me standing there and wandered off to the kitchen for 5 minutes.  Then came back and took payment from some other lady as she walked up before finally realising I was standing right there.   <br/>During this wait time I could see most of my order being stacked from the deep frier to the drip tray. So I figured it wouldn't be far away.<br/><br/>He finally took my payment and I stood for about 4 minutes before deciding to sit down at the only free seat towards back of the shop.  <br/><br/>10 minutes later ( so now 20 minutes late)  he brings out an order and in the quietest voice "mumbles fish and chips phone order for Bart"  So quiet and mumbled all the nearest person heard was fish and chips and stood up and asked him 'fish and chips?' he said yeah and gave him the order.  I assumed it was his order as he was in the store when I got there, and couldn't hear his mumble clearly.  So I got up and took his seat as it was closer .  It was at this moment the server noticed me and said 'oh, phone order for Bart?'  "Yes." I replied.  <br/>"Oh I just gave your order to that guy" <br/>'sorry'<br/>continues to stand there looking stupid. <br/>So I told him to give me my money back which he fumblingly did.  I wasn't going to wait another 30 minutes for the order to be refilled.<br/><br/>No one from out back came out to see what was going on.<br/><br/>Fire your server. <br/>

Variety! So many options I couldn't choose. Chips were good. Lemon pepper squid was good but I had to add fresh lemon to it when I got home. Mussels charged as 1 but 2 were in a serve. Fish was cooked correctly. They offer chicken salt and lemon pepper as alternative to plain salt. Tuesday Madness value meals are super cheap too!

Dude I love fishstop lemon pepper calamari oh yeah. 👌 overall very tasty food here and I will continue to come here as long as it still taste to my liking.

I have became a customer just a few months ago so I didn't know about the onwer change and for me it has been always good! The fritters and Lemon pepper calamari are the best!!!

Really disappointing ~ obviously there must be a change in owners as this is up there with the worst (expensive) fish and chips I have ever had... strange as this place use to be sooooooo amazing! Over $30 on my order the chips were burnt and obviously old oil used. I ordered a spring roll given a curry roll (I hate curry rolls!) again old oil. The gurnard was so dry it was disgusting! The scallops again cooked in old oil and over cooked. For this price and quality of food I would never be back.... Absolutely disgusting and believe me I never write reviews but the food was so bad I left my 'dinner' to write this. Oh well off to the kitchen to cook dinner now i suppose!

The fish stop in Glen Eden has become my only fish n chip place since I found them. I am super fussy when it comes to chips and most fish n chip shops in Auckland have soggy chips. So I was very happy to find the Fish Stop does the perfect chips, soft in the centre and crispy crunchy on the outside. They will season with salt if you ask them and they can put chicken salt or lemon salt on them at request. I'm also coeliac and they do fantastic gluten free battered fish, again totally crispy batter and good thick pieces of fish. The best fish n chip shop locally out west that I have found.

Merely average - despite entering (self-nomination?) into the best fish n chip shop awards (they are anything but) - the chips are largely flavourless and nothing to write home about. The fish of the day is also generally flavourless and nothing special. If you get them to make fish out of the window, it falls apart when you try to eat it - the perils of frying fresh fish I suppose.<br/><br/>What is great about fish stop however is the burgers - they seem to have some sort of homemade patty and are always extremely flavoursome.<br/><br/>Hot dogs are generally good and good value, fritters are small but they will generally give you two for every one that you order. For some reason the fritters taste mostly of fat however so you feel a bit ill afterwards.

Had to sign up just to write this after seeing the other reviews. From what they said this place must have new management since. <br/><br/>Seriously good fish and chips. Best one out west that I've found and I've looked. <br/><br/>Excellent fish, awesome burger, chips not greasy at all. Very good value for money. Definitely my go to from now on.

Prices are a bit steep but there is a good variety on the menu and the quality is pretty good.

Terrible, probably one of the worst fish and chips i have ever had. $5 chips is not even enough for one,290 grams or $17 per KG. Fish was old, over cooked and soggy. The batter was like a paste and the potato fritters are tiny.<br/><br/> Don't go here people the award must be fabricated.

Went to fish Stop last night on a recommendation, we waited for 45 mins and other customers arriving and receiving their orders, thought we would ask about our order and they said we'll do it now. We asked for our money back and will not bother going back, maybe they do not need new customers.I did not think their prices were reasonable salmon fillets 19.99 per 500gm, $40 kg is not reasonable even for a small fish shop

We liked the previous incarnation as Fush, but had a disappointing experience after it became Fish Stop (new owners?) and didn't go back. Recently tried again - what a difference! The chips were perfect- crispy, tasty, practically no oil, lightly salted. Battered fish was good too. Prices are very reasonable, and apparently they're a finalist in the Best Chip Shop awards this year. Great stuff. Will be back.
