Grade A!!! Enjoyed the food and love the skewers. Ordered for dinner. N.24 Beef noodle soup +( flat noodle) $18.80 +( $2) N.31 Chicken Laska flat noodle $19.80 B.5 Beef skewers x5 - $2 each B.13 Chicken skewers x5 - $2 each And soft drinks $3.50 Staff was very friendly.

Nice place with plenty of different dishes, a lot of BBQ option, lamb beef chicken veggie.. and many more. But also rice dishes. Many drink options a well. From alcohol to soft or milky one. It can be hard to get staff attention when you want to order.

It's usually delicious every time we go, but sometimes we ordered noodle it comes out very, very late after eating all the foods

Always goes before my friend got pregnant 🤰, I worked in Albany 3 days a week and we went at the least twice a week. Fat boy it like our after work dinner place no matter it was 6pm or 10pm , always hot food with great service! 👍 Yes my Guinness 🍺 too 😋😋😋 yummy. Those photos was took last weekend just before third lockdown 😂😂😂 lucky us yeah 🥳🥳🥳

It took a while for the servers to come and take the orders but food came out relatively fast. They open until late so if you want to drink and have a fun night with your friends come here and enjoy it.

Lol. It was my first time here, and in all honesty, right after I arrived and parked my car, my guts were having mixed feelings and leaning towards my reluctance to eat in there. But I gave it a try, and you know what?? My long overdue need to eat an excellent, proper, saucy prawn!!!!! Luckily, I did! And then it was probably my night because Zi tried playing slot machines, and somehow I also won! Whhooooh🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️ I am sorry again, and so am sorry.

Lovely food that will surprise you with the price! This is not my first time but everything I visited I was never disappointed. My favorite dish is flat rice noodles. I love it 😀.

One of the best BBQ place to go all time! All the food are delicious. And they open until very late which is very convenient as well.

Food was great and very affordable. Open until late night thats why its our go-to place every week after a long day at work. Highly recommend!

(Although we don’t like gambling at all) The place is always busy no matter weekday night or weekends (so hard to find a seat without booking) . I wouldn’t say their skewers are all amazing, but it’s really tasty with reasonable price. Grab a beer, good amount of skewers, it’s only $30 pp. . 👍𝗖𝗵𝗶𝗰𝗸𝗲𝗻 𝗦𝗸𝗶𝗻 - we just recently tasted it and felt regretful why didn’t we eat it before ?! It’s crispy , a bit sweet, not too oily. we quite like it. This time we came back for it! 👍𝗖𝗵𝗶𝗰𝗸𝗲𝗻 𝗙𝗿𝗮𝗺𝗲 - another reason for us came back. It’s $4(?couldn’t remember clearly) with a deep fried full chicken frame! If you are frugal with food budget, definitely go for it. The joy is tear the meat from the frame. Yum! (Couldn’t take pictures cos we were too hungry) . 👍 𝗗𝗮𝗿𝗸 𝗕𝗲𝗲𝗿 is really drinkable not bitter at all🍻

Went last night for the first time. Was a great experience. I was very sleepy and too lazy to cook so late at night (9:30pm), these guys were the hit. I got braised pork which came out super fast along with some skewers. My husband really liked the look of the grilled chives so he ordered 5, the staff were nice enough to double check if we really needed 5! We definitely did not as 1 was plenty. Awesome place ✌️ best katsu, milkshake and beers are served in an iced mug 🍺

Delicious food. Don't let the exterior give you a false impression - it's good.

Been here a lot of times. Mainly for BBQ and fried noodles. BBQ is great and tasty which you must try it. If you like noodles, you should try the home made flat noodle with beef in chilli oil, YUMMY.

Great place to share meals and have a few beers. I’d say the best lamb skewers that I've had in Auckland so far!<br/><br/>Lamb skewers - bigger pieces of lamb and meaty compared to other chinese skewer places. We ordered 60 skewers between 6 people.<br/>Cucumber in Soy sauce - also bigger pieces of cucumber and tasty<br/>Chilli Chicken with potato (with homemade noodles) in Large. This is really big. Lucky this place has takeaway containers handy so we took half of this home.<br/>We also ordered a few potato skewers, chicken heart skewers and squid skewers, and a cold chicken dish (might have been poached) that is covered in spicy sauce with peanuts on top. The sauce is very spicy and addictive.<br/><br/>Service is pretty good. The place look like an old fashioned slightly shabby bar but that also makes this place its signature theme. They play Looney Toons cartoon on screen which is interesting.

Came here for a BBQ supper on weekends and they were full of people. They have many people working so we get to placed our order as soon as we're seated. However we waited for 40 minutes for our BBQ skews! Food taste was okay and the price are reasonable but the wait is just too long. Probably they need to get some kitchen hand.

Looks can be deceiving! This place didn't look like much from the outside and even after sitting down at a table but the food here is cheap and cheerful and the portions are enough to satisfy and have leftovers. They do big hearty bowls and an array of skewers that you can mix and match. Food comes out quick and you grab your own water and smaller bowls for sharing.

Their $1 beef/chicken/lamb sticks are value for money. You can’t go wrong with these. We also ordered their mapo tofu on rice and spicy dry beef noodles, both are really good at $14 each. Great for late night drinking with group of friends. The place is air conditioned too so perfect to escape outside heat at the moment. Note they do 10% surcharge on public holiday.

A positive about this place would be that it is one of the very few places in the North Shore open past midnight. The interior of this place is ??? It is western style with random freezers and abandoned drum kits and not very clean, but it was quite different for a Chinese restaurant???? not sure how to comment on it except for i'm so confused???? The water bottles they had for us to pour out of was not cleaned at all. Felt quite icky to drink the water. <br/><br/>My friends and I (4 people) ordered the chilli chicken with potato and noodles to share and it was SUPER spicy. It was extremely difficult for us to finish it. We are normally good with moderate chilli but this massive bowl was way too spicy for us to finish. To help with it, next time I recommend ordering two servings of noodles instead of one for this massive bowl. <br/><br/>The service was good. However, they didn't let us take in our own drinks (they had a sign) but it was soft drink and we needed it to stop our mouths from burning! :(

Best Skewers and cucumber salad in Auckland. The lamb hardly has the strong smell you get from lamb, unlike Gogo music. Strongly recommend this place!

Open til late every night but their service could be very very slow the venue is big (for north shore) but not so sure why they don't have more people during their peak hours. I already know my food will never come but will only come when I'm done waiting and running out of my patient so I go there order my drink(s! Very important that you order as many as you can) before they hand me the menu then I enjoy my drinks and forget about the food i ordered then when after 5yrs they bring my food it's like I'm getting an unexpected gift so I don't get so mad. Their food is good and good portion too. I always order their chicken + noodle plate? I think it's better than gogo music's but then again it's just my personal preference

Open till late, so a nice place to have BBQ and beer with my husband sometimes after 10pm. Their seafood soup is healthy and delicious. Only one time that we called for order before we arrived to shorten the waiting time, but the staff member thought it was a takeaway, and we ended up waiting for even longer at the table. Overall a place that we come repeatedly on late nights.

Extremely disappointed. We were told the wait 15-30 minutes but after sitting 50 minutes we were still told its not ready. Worst experience i had. Very poor service.

We love this place.<br/>The place itself is grotty af and they need massive improvement on their cleanliness and customer service. In saying that, we go here all the time (at least once a month) and we've never had a bad experience (but that's probably because the staff knows us already). <br/>We only order their skewers or from time to time we order their fried chicken or taiwanese chicken.<br/>Flavour of the skewers are great and in our experience, its always been perfectly cooked.<br/>This place is so affordable, we only pay $20-25 between 2 people.

Heard many compliments about the food here, turned up with high expectation, but was not as exceptional as we thought, quite average. Especially our lamb skewer was over cooked. Don't get me wrong, it's not bad, the skewers was definitely full of flavour. Love the eggplant, best I've ever had~ The service was not worth commenting, just don't expect anything. The food turned up very quickly once you ordered them. Quiet place, pub style, alot of seating for groups big or small.

Customer service was not good, we walked in and The girl at the entrance just stared at us. The combination veges and the chicken fried rice were so yum. But the spicy chicken and spicy squid were just mouthfuls of salt and took a while to recieve. I most certainly wont be back.

I normally never write reviews but when the food is this bad i just had to, I'm currently hospitalised with food poisoning which the nurse said happened from under cooked poultry. <br/>If you don't wanna risk food poisoning then i suggest you avoid this place, even 1. Star is too much for my horrible experiences here. Not good enough, don't understand how they are still open, the place looks all warn out and has a funky smell to it, like there is old rubbish kept in the kitchen or something. Would never come back here again.

The chicken kebab and chicken wings was raw ,a lot blood in them ,so disgusting .we told the staff twice but there is no any response from them ,not even a sorry, never come back

Fat boys Tavern reminds me of a country outback western vibe by the interior design. It's quite different to your typical Asian restaurant but there's nothing negative about that. Their skewers are decently priced and quite delicious. I recommend the chicken skewers and the fried buns with condensed milk if you're craving something sweet after. Service is pretty decent, standard and nothing out of the ordinary. Food arrives pretty fast but I've never been when they're busy so it might alter during peak times. Please keep in mind this is a tavern so you need to bring ID when you want to dine here

Had to edit my previous review after very disappointing dinner. We ordered the skewers that came nothinf like the menu picture or what we ate before. Told the staff immediately. They told me they will come back and sort things out, but never came back. They were avoiding any sort of eye contact and said we get 3 pieces of lamb if the cut is big. However, these lamb were measly small. When I pointed that out they went away and didn't come back. I sent the lamb skewers back after 45mins of waiting. The chicken sweet corn soup waa a big disappointment as well. It tasted like they just poures the sweet corn from the can and into the soup. It was just terrible experience from start to end

This is the place you want to go to if you are craving for the traditional chinese-style, sensational chicken on a big plate. As a student, despite it is quite far away from the city, the food is incredibly affordable. We just ordered the chicken and it was enough to feed 5 people to fully bellies for under 36 bucks. The environment was nice too. It's a bar, but more like a diner. Waiters are attentive and friendly. Definitely recommended for foodies that crave for traditional northern-chinese food.

it's worth the price and it's one of my hubby's favorite places to have Chinese style bbq at night. The braised chicken with potato and green pepper nice matches with the noodle. They only charge 26 dollars for such size and 5 dollars for the noodle. From my point of view, the bbq is just fine, not impressive. Anyway, my hubby loves it and I believe we will come back here some time.

Ive been coming to Fatty's for a good while now, and they've never ever let me down. Good prices for the food, along with the fantastic atmosphere and friendly staff. Would highly recommended!

This place has never let me down, good honest food, cooked very well, I can always reply after a hard days work of cooking myself, i can still come here at 1 am and still have good food, and a chilled beer. well done guys

Always go there if we are craving for charcoal bbq skewers. One of the best charcoal bbq skewers in Auckland I would say. fried rice and fried noodle are pretty good as well. Reasonable price for food and beers. Kids friendly as well.

Have been there twice. This would be my go to place whenever I have a craving for fried chicken and beer. The beer on tap is amazingly crisp and refreshing and actually well worth the rating of 5.0 / 5.0. But only giving 3.0 because of the neglected decor and hygene. The lighting was way too bright for the late night drink killing the mood. The music was way too loud even when there was only a few customers. Sticky table and the thick dust layers on the furnitures...

Had a great night at Fat Boys. The food was delicious and had my favorite beer on tap (steinlager). I ordered fried chicken and loved it. The price was good, and watched rugby on one of the big projector things they had.

One of the best meals I have ever had - arrived in the early hours of the morning and they were still open. Service was 10/5, decor 10/5 and the pokies machines 5/5. We had four meals between three people and it was more than enough. The A-grade food rating reflected the cleanliness of the place. A futuristic vending machine dispensed coffee at our fingertips. Definitely coming again soon!

Unfortunately I have to give this place one star, as it is no possible to give it 0 stars!<br/><br/>Mainly in respect to false advertising and that it is described as a "Tavern" and all advertising on the Internet describes it as a "Steak House" with a "Bar Menu"<br/><br/>IT IS NOT. It is now an Asian Smorgasbord Restaurant that happens to have a Bar.<br/><br/>The food isn't bad - I have had far worse, but when you go in expecting one thing, and it is a another...<br/><br/>That is not all though. I didn't notice what food rating they had, but as you enter there was a person cooking beef just near the entrance in pretty disgusting conditions with a rusty old fan blowing out towards those entering. When leaving, we noticed old dirty plates just left on the table surrounding the cooking area. Disgusting. When paying the bill I noticed the smell of food rubbish coming from the kitchen and that area looked far from hygienic.
