This is the best Japanese restaurant in Auckland in my opinion! The chef who makes the sushi is very professional! The sashimi is great too, the salmon is fresh and the best parts are used! The beef donburi is especially good, the meat is so creamy and the sauce is so sweet! I would love to come back!

Amazing food and service. It is my favourite place to eat. Food is always of a high standard, from soft shell crab, to beef tataki, to dumplings. Never disappointed by a meal at Unkai.

The fried ingredients in the sushi roll were hot and crispy so the food's definitely made to order. Decent quality Japanese food! Will definitely return.

We were so impressed by UNKAI! Food was authentic and large portioned. Really enjoyed their sashimi and sukiyaki. Prices were reasonable. Services were at a high standard, we felt very welcomed. Will be coming back for sure. Highly recommend to everyone.

New favourite Japanese restaurant! Tataki had a bit too firm edges for my liking but kids liked udon. Tempura was really good 👍

Very happy with the food here. Arrived here for lunch about 35 minutes before closing after Daikoku could not accommodate me. Very decent food **** and +1 for a very decent sake menu. They even have Dassai :o.
