Review Origine - Auckland

Fantastic French cuisine in a magical setting overlooking the harbour and ferry terminal. The decor and atmosphere is superb and the French inspired menu with a local twist is delicious. The duck salad , chicken main and soufflé were a standout. Some aspects of the service on our visit were a bit “off” (forgot our bread and top ups on water and wine were a bit slow ) but otherwise a very good experience overall

We tried Origine as we had a delightful experience at Ahi. Atmosphere was lovely, especially for lunch on a sunny day. We ordered entrees, mains, sides, drinks and dessert and most of the food was to perfection. Duck liver parfait was one of the best I’ve ever had. I chose the Confit duck leg as my main and which was cooked to perfection; tender and juicy. It came with swede and quince which gave the dish a nice balance. Not only was the food delicious but was beautifully presented. The staff were also friendly and accommodating. I have recommended to many and will definitely visit again.

First time here and pleasantly surprised. We did the Chef’s Menu which was like a taster of the menu. Awesome service, lovely wine selection and delicious food. The ceviche was a bit under otherwise everything else was great. The soufflé was outstanding! The views are spectacular.

Lovely place for dinner. We booked for 5, and were greeted by friendly staff. The restuarant and menu are well put together. Good selection of craft beers. I had the chicken breast and ballotine. The dish was very balanced and filling, the side of fries were good. Although it is pricey, it's definitely worth the money.

Absolutely enchanted by this French restaurant. The beautiful view adds to the charm, and the express lunch is a fantastic value for money. Delightful gastronomic journey with mouthwatering desserts.

We went there today for my birthday dinner. My son has serious allergy and the staff are all well aware and accomodating of my request. All of us had a top notch meal and service, my son had to order a second serving of mash potato! The view over the harbour and ferry building are very nice too. Plus the chefs are very hot ! Thank you Origine, we will be back 😊

This was a very nice place! Hidden away in commercial bay. We tried some shared dishes and the taste combination was delicious. The cab sav Merl wine was equally good. Would highly recommend for those that want some quiet time

A beautiful find with beautiful views on a sunny day as well as gorgeous food and a team of staff who know their stuff, especially how to match wines along the way. All dishes were beyond flavourful, and the presentation was top class. Stand out duck liver parfait and pig trotter stuffed with sweetbreads and chicken mousseline. Everything just devine.

We came by for restaurant month since its menu looked quite appetising. The restaurant is located near the back of the food court on level three of Commercial Bay. It is located at the start of Queens Rise which leads to a series of other restaurants in the area. Keep an eye out for the sign above the door and a mural with a lady holding the French flag. The dining area is quite nice and overlooks the harbour. We came at night but the views were still quite nice, overlooking the water. Although we came for the restaurant month set menu, we did peruse through the menu and there were some items like the camembert brulee which sounded interesting. We happened to have three people so we were able to try all three mains. The faux fois gras (duck liver pate) was quite nice. I really liked the French onion soup but think I would have preferred a cheesier bread to go with it, but the ox-tail toastie was interesting. Of the mains, I did prefer the fish as it had the nicest flavour. The steak hache was interesting, like a hamburger in a very peppery sauce. The mushroom pilaf was also interesting and tasty. I think the best part was the dessert as it was a souffle. I'm not a big fan of passionfruit but the souffle was quite nice and sweet and very airy. It has a nice rise and looked amazing. The timing of the dinner was quite nice as it felt natural. The service was really good with water being topped up regularly. With good food, service and views, it is a really nice place to have a really fancy and taste dinner.

Wow. Wow - So good. Exquisite fine dining for reasonable price. Everything was great but my Wild shot Elk (Wapiti) was exceptional. Wife had fish main. We went for lunch had octopus salad and raw schnapper for starters. Service was marvelous.

Awesome dinner at Origine, a French inspired fine-dining with fabulous waterfront view. The food is divine and beautifully presented! All of the staff was truly pleasant to talk with. We thought the snacks and starters would have ‘fine-dining portion’ but not at all. After 5 starters for sharing between 5 of of us, we were completely full for the mains. Highly recommend the Duck Liver Parfait and Fried Courgette Flower Goat Cheese.

My wife and I dined at Origine for the beginning of our honeymoon in Auckland. We are so glad we did. Everything was excellent. All the food we had was excellent, the ambience and view were great, the wine list and wines were some of the best we've had, and the service from the husband and wife team at front-of-house was excellent. Such a great start to our honeymoon. They also catered to my wife's gluten free diet very well. There are a few negative reviews of Origine on Google Maps recently (although the overwhelming majority are positive), and it almost put me off booking. I'm so glad we ignored the negative reviews and booked.

What a gorgeous experience through and through. The door was quite inconspicuous, but the interior was stunning, with a great open plan and high roofs. Also, a great view of the viaduct. The servers were all very friendly with excellent knowledge of their drinks list and menu, and had great recommendations for pairing of drinks and food. Food came in great timing, giving us enough time to enjoy our share platters/separate meals but also quick enough so that we didn't feel super hungry. Everything was absolutely delicious. The star of the show for me was the duck - melt in your mouth texture and deliciously seasoned. The eclair was quite firm (as if just removed from the chiller), but I could not fault anything else.

Was taken here for my birthday, and I must say it was lovely all around. The atmosphere, staff and food was truly wonderful. All of the staff was truly pleasant to talk with. Oh, by the way, the wine suggestion was perfect! 🍷 The charcuterie board was enjoyable to have during conversation. So to sum everything up, I love this place and will be back.

French inspired fine-dining with an elevated waterfront view. Excellent service and fabulous food! The setting is modern / chic with floor to ceiling windows allowing line of sight to the vista wherever you sit. Seafood and steak are the focus but the menu is expansive and contains all kinds of French treats. Note the menu is seasonal and currently vegetarian options were scare and vegan non-existent. That aside, a great dining experience!

This was a lovely restaurant to dine at for my 1 year anniversary with my partner, as recommended by a close friend. The service was great (lovely french girl with an accent, communicated greatly and allowed us to taste some wines before deciding). Entrees came out quickly, bread was soft and the butter was smooth and flavourful. Also ordered the duck breast salad, nice and fresh but could've done with a few more pieces. Both mains were nicely cooked, the French patty is good to try but probably won't get it again personally. Chicken was juicy and flavourful, was surprised at how full I was dining at this place. The kitchen nicely prepared a plate to celebrate our anniversary, it was very much appreciated. The waiters did miss my request for water a few times but it's okay, not a big deal. Overall, a nice modern French restaurant with good views of the harbour and yummy food. Will return for future special occassions.

Service is nice and make you feel comfortable. Like duck liver and potato puree (comes with steak). Soup is a bit salty, won't order it again next time. Pork belly is strongly recommended: skin, fat & lean got three different texture & tastes, but all perfectly mixed up together, just can't stop eating, love it!

Wow, what an experience! 10, 10, 10’s across the boards! Every course was exquisite, the service was next level and the view of the harbour is breathtaking. I can’t fault it!
