Been here many times! For a bar nestled in the suburbs of Birkenhead you couldn’t ask for much more. Great selection of beer, the servers are always really friendly and all up a good atmosphere! I think the chef has changed over time, but the core menu has stayed the same with typical pub grub with some standouts to (the calamari and ribs go down nicely). For the price and for where you are you can’t ask for much more. Will keep coming back that’s for sure! And if you’re a local and haven’t been, try this place out…

Been here a couple of times now! Really love they are dog friendly and the pub quiz was run extremely well. Food is really nice too with a pretty wide selection. Beer is great 👍 a great local venue!

The BBC is an absolute institution among freehouses, which I cannot recommend enough. Impeccable food, great range of beers and cocktails, and top tier staff with a vast array of knowledge to assist you in your drink selection. To not visit the BBC would be a missed opportunity for an excellent evening.

I'm not a local as such but regularly drop in for a couple of beers while our daughter attends a Shore Dance lesson around the corner. My wife teases me that I must feel like Nigel no Friends drinking alone but BBC is truely a place that is so welcoming to all. Extensive craft beer selection and great local pub atmosphere. We've had a couple of family meals there too now and the food and service were fantastic.

I've never had a bad meal here. The staff are amazing. Food is fantastic. I had roast of the day, which was outstanding, as was the pie of the day which my husband had. We will definitely return

Great Venue for a few drinks, a special date or a big night out. Really good selection of New Zealand craft beer. Absolutely amazing food and such a nice vibe inside and out. A must visit when you are in Birkenhead.

Always lovely staff, owner is a delight and their doggy policy is top notch. Yum beers and tasty meals.

A fab little bar right on the main street of Birkenhead. Choose your beers for a flight and enjoy the eclectic & wide range on offer. I would have liked more info on the beers we chose (maybe make up coasters w the beer logo on one side and a buttload of info on the other?), but it was still a lovely experience. Will definitely be back to check out the food options, and for more of whatever that yummy pink beer was!

Total overhaul of my previous review years ago. I love this local haunt. Everything from the staff conversations to the quaint toilets; from the indoor bar space to the outdoor heated seating. Is there really anything else to say? Actually, there is haha. Have a chat with Steve and James; super knowledgeable about beer, super friendly, and great at giving personalised recommendations.

Fantastic little pub with an awesome selection of beers and wines. The food here is delicious and they have a great food menu for kids. The staff are super friendly and one overheard my daughter comment to me that she didn’t like her cheeseburger as it had mustard in it so he whipped it away and offered another one! Love this place!

Come here regularly. Good range of beers and wines and great service. The food is not necessarily the cheapest but it is excellent quality and life's too short to eat mediocre food.

Superb beer, nice place and friendly staff. Expecting pub food we were very positively surprised. Ribs were tender and juicy and so was the veggie burger. Would come back anytime for beer or bite(s). Beerwise, I very much recommend the bunker apa and the beautiful trouble ipa, in this order.

Popped in and was pleasantly surprised, food was amazing and very friendly. Also dog friendly.

Just all round awesome! Great service and help with what to grab next...beer was outstanding...food is phenomenal! Only problem was my glass couldn’t hold the beer long enough. Highly recommended.

This bar is simply amazing! So many food options, and the vibe here is the best! If you end up going here, I strongly suggest trying the "impossible burger"! It's a fully vegan masterpiece with amazing flavour! It's called the impossible burger becayse it's fully vegan, yet it tastes BETTER than a neat burger! There is simply no doubt that I'd come back here again!

Always a great vibe at BBC, great beer selection, food & the staff are awesome. All the locals bring their dogs 🐕 & Friday's after a week at work are popular for get together's on the deck out front

A cool spot in the heart of Birkenhead to grab a beer and relax in the courtyard or inside! The courtyard is sealed and heated for the winter months which is lovely. The Barman is knowledgeable on the beers and friendly. Lovely spot for a catch up

Great craft beer bar. Wish it was closer to home. Food is always good and the staff are helpful. The BBC beers are top notch too. Never had a bad night there.

Great spot for a beer!!! Always cool to see a local place run by such lovely people doing so well. $20 burger and beer special on a Monday which is hard to go past.

These guys are great, one of our favourite locals. Haven't really had food here, beers are great, staff are super friendly (big ups to Lewis and Nicola who are truly amazing people!), and so many craft beer options!

Best calamari on the shore. Tried calamari somewhere else but not as well cooked: at BBC the calamari is tender on the inside and crunchy on the outiside. A+. Tried the cigar borek, tasty as. All of that along with a BBC pilsner, my favourite beer on tap. No wonder why I keep coming back. Awesome staff. I am always looked after very well by Lewis and Nykola. Keep doing a great job guys =)

Love having the BBC as my local. Always a good atmosphere, a friendly crowd and a great craft beer selection. The free popcorn is always an added bonus, plus the outside space is dog friendly. The food is ok for snacking. If they got themselves a pizza oven I would be rating this as 5 stars!

Go here regularly - it's my local. Service always excellent, and beers are great and always changing. Best place to get a craft beer on the shore.

Unfortunately not a suitable place to go with friends and little ones after our experience on Saturday late afternoon. We had been relishing the opportunity to find somewhere local to relax and hang out with friends from our anti natal class over a couple of drinks and nibbles and some good yarns .  Potentially not the demographics that Birkenhead brewing is trying to accommodate as it seemed like anything we kindly asked of staff we received a snappy response and attitude towards trying to accommodate us.  Most of our group are professionals whom come across excellent examples of customer service on a daily basis - we where just left feeling disappointed :(

Great beer Wine and food. Toilets must be the best in Auckland. Staff were great and knowledgeable, will be back great addition to Birkenhead and the North Shore.

Would not go here again. We thought this would be our new local but so disappointed. We went last night in a group and the staff were extremely rude, shocking service. I can't believe that these people work customer service!

A friend and I came here on a chilly Saturday evening for a couple of wines. The service was prompt and friendly, the place was packed and the atmosphere alive! Our wine and nibbles hit the spot, and, a very big tick goes toward the clean, cozy bathroom- love the individual hand towels!! I will be dragging friends along to this snug little nook very shortly I suspect. 5/5.

This little place could be my new man cave away from home - Order a beer and a bowl of buttery popcorn arrives at your table!!! Tucked away in a cool spot on the main road this place has a great range of craft beers, can't wait to try the food.<br/><br/>If you see a little fatty alone smashing popcorn and beer, that will be me!

Great selection of beers, which is the main reason you would come here. A tasting platter is offered which is a great way to try brews you arent sure about, such as the cucumber sour. Staff are super friendly and love a bit of banter. We had some sides with the drinks and although small they tasted great. Will definitely be making this establishment a regular port of call.

A cosy and chill place for a drink and catch up with friends. I really liked the decor and comfortable seats. We tried the fries, kumara fries and calamari. The food was delicious especially the calamari! The staff were friendly and gave us samples of their beer to try as we couldn't make up our minds! Guess we'll just have to go back and drink our way through all their beers :)

Great place for beer and wine drinkers. If your not sure what you will like to drink they will give you a sample to try. And I know the free popcorn is just to make me thirsty but that's fine by me. Good service and clean too.

Great place for after work drinks and snacks! The kumara chips and lemon lime & bitters were delicious, and the atmosphere was very relaxed and friendly.

Such a cool new bar in Birkenhead, this place will definitely be my new local. The atmosphere is perfect for a chilled Sunday afternoon brew. The staff are super friendly and their knowledge of the beer and wine that they serve is excellent. They were really helpful in finding us all a beer that we enjoyed. The food menu, while quite simple, was amazing. Will be back shortly for more food and to try the new beers. The free popcorn is also quite a nice touch!
