Delicious meal, friendly chatty staff. We are visiting from Australia and hadn't intended to go to Bluff we were pleasantly surprised and this little restaurant was amazing.

Was going for oyster, but they didn’t have enough supply at night. The mussel and squid was very nice.

a Top #1 New Zealand experience after touring the entire South Island. excited by the platter pictures we found on google reviews we were more blown away by what happened when we got in. after picking up on our "foodie" vibes (we are gourmet restaurant managers) the owner Haylee spent two days (i mean a dinner + lunch) with us, curating all the food, cooked to order, displaying, explaining the history and origins of all the food, how her and her family and kids harvest all the food + ingredients, and giving us some samples of her own private cooking collection from one chef to another. one of the most memorable and down to earth Kiwi experiences you could ever have. we spent two days in Bluff eating and learning so much about the history and food culture of all the places and all the lore behind it. they may not even have Oysters when you arrive but you'll learn why. they do however have fresh Titi (if you come in season) a rare wild bird that i won't soon forget - it was the best thing i've ever had to eat. i'll remember this hospitality and food experience for the rest of my life!! thank you!!

Saw the restaurant online and had family over from overseas so traveled down south to give it a try especially the oysters. Well worth the hours drive. We picked the make your own platter and were not disappointed. We picked the mutton bird bruschetta, paua wontons, oysters, mussels and prawns and what a great feed it was. Great service and amazing food well presented . We will definitely be back.

Wife & I came here 12 months ago with a group of 40 senior citizens after booking weeks in advance to ensure adequate oysters were available. Upon arrival apologies were proffered and lame - duck excuses for not having oysters for our group. Many of us settled for battered Blue Cod. Trouble was there was more batter than blue cod. Very - - - - disillusioned people. Today, 26/4/23, many of the same group made the annual pilgrimage to the same venue to chance our taste buds. Wife & I go there only for Blue Cod & Oysters, no chips salad or tartare sauce. I make my own tartare sauce and everybody that's tried it, confirms it is "Simply the Best." So after last year's disappointment, we were all a little apprehensive as to what was to be served up. First off: The waitress was so polite to every client that walked through the door, in asking, "how may I help you." So gracious was she. Secondly : The presentation of every single meal, (23) was the consensus, simply OUTSTANDING. My wife & I have not enjoyed Blue Cod & Oysters for such a long time, and topping the meal off with some of my Tartare was just the epitamy of ecstacy. If the staff can maintain this level of excellence, this won't be the only visit we make to this establishment. Oh, while I'm at it, I best mention that the oysters were No1's. Many places buy in seconds and cover them with screeds of batter to make them look big. Not the Anchorage. In Southland, start serving up sub-standard food, and the word spreads faster than John Travoltas' Greased Lightning. So Ladies, keep up the good work and this Arnie "will be back."

We had a beautiful meal when we visited on New Years Eve. The size was perfect for lunch, and a full glass of wine 🍷 The staff and the locals were very friendly.

Fantastic oysters and fresh blue cod two ways. Quirky, friendly local service. Generous portions. A highlight of our time in Bluff.

Superbly fresh, succulent kai moana. We struck the motherload of delicious seafood when we dined at Hayz. The menu also caters for people who prefer not to eat seafood as well. For us we couldn't get past the seafood platters which we could customise to our favourites. We were greedy & shared the fresh muttonbird and a paua burger which did not disappoint. There was a family atmosphere and we were honoured that Hayz, herself came to our table to chat. We got to meet other members of her whanau too. The food is prepared from the heart and the servings are indeed generous. Our friends from Auckland were so impressed with their dining experience that they are coming back to dine again in the near future. I highly recommend you try this restaurant.
