So far i had the best salad in AKL here and the fries were so crispy . Pop in here if you ever come for a swim on castor bay. Staff is friendly and the service is good . They are even open on public holidays and food is without surcharge ! I will give them 5/5
I am given 4 but really should deserve a 3.5 based on todays purchase.
Bought a large TA latte. I asked for extra shot as I like my coffee strong esp on a lrg cup. They didnt have medium option so lrg it is. The coffee was good actually. I will give a 4.5 for that. It has a lovely chocolate under tone. Coffee beans is from Allpress so its all good. I would give it a 5 if it is a double shot instead of 3 shots but since i didnt tried the "normal large" 4.5 is the best i can give.
Now comes the muffin. It really is a 1/5. Spinach and tomato it was and it tasted sweet instead of savoury to start with . And it is too soft inside that it breaks apart as soon as I peel the cooking paper. And the muffin stuck on the cooking paper so much in the end i used a spoon to scrape it out!
Four of us arrived a Sun, afternoon with no customers in store only bubbly young stuff,chatting and laughing. When we entered the mood changed from happy to sombre and we thought we disturbed their happy chat. Food was on top of counter, not hygienic at all! Needless to say we never had a smile again until we left and said thank you to a young lady packing up to close the store,finally a smile!!
Best coffee on the north shore! And a great brunch menu! Food comes out fast and always perfectly poached eggs. Will definitely be coming back! Awesome local :)
Went late on a Monday and found there was still lots of delicious cabinet food

Consistently good coffee with a great selection of fresh cabinet food. The cheese toastie and doughnuts are very good. Great location to grab a takeaway and head for a walk at Castor Bay beach.
The first confusing thing about this place is that there are two entrances. One entrance (across from the parking area) leads to the sit down cafe while the other (The bit that looks like the bottom of an L) looks to be a takeaway area for coffee, salads and other baked goods.
Fairly busy for lunch and the atmosphere was quite nice and bright. The menu had quite an interesting range of food. I went with the crumbed eggs with iced chocolate. The drinks came out way before the meals and they didn't all come at the same time. The iced chocolate was really nice, creamy and chocolatey (not cocoaey). The eggs were cooked well with the yolk still fairly runny and the veges well seasoned.
Nice food and really nice drinks.

So popped in here today for a catchup with an collegue. We ordered from the counter, which might I add had a damn good display of sugary goodness!
We grabbed a pull pork sandwich to share.,,,might not sound that exciting but it was spot on (should of taken photos)
I ordered a cherry filled donut, which had a coconut tasting cream - damn it was good!!
The coffee came and was a great smooth coffee.
The staff were pretty smiley and cheerfull, its located near the beach. Its going to be crazy busy there in summer and at the weekends.

I was blown away on their prices too, so competitive compared with the current market. Their kids' menu is just $8, for example.

Good cafe in prime position - being the only one in the vicinity of the lovely Castor Bay. Up to the mark cafe fare though expensive and indoor area cold in the cooler months. Think the exterior lets the place down somewhat too - a fallen down sign, weeds, cheap looking wall planters and peeling paint. Wouldn't take too much to be given a refresh. Come on Piknic - you're overdue ploughing some of your profits back in to your venue!
French toast was beautifully presented, delicious and generous. Great value especially compared with others I’ve had lately which have been expensive and boring with very few ingredients on the plate
I really like the petite option they offer for solo eating. Quite spacious eating area and quite tasty.
Eaten brunch here a couple of times. Eggs bene and avo on toast. Good both times. Has become a regular stop for a coffee and cake after a dog walk.
There are 2 doors, so ordering and counter food is done in the back corner. You can then walk outside to the diner and take a seat. Makes for a nice quiet area to chat while waiting for food as no coffee machine working!

Easy parking. Great food, friendly staff. There is plenty of seating inside or out.
Been here several times with groups amd individually cabinet good always good with good easy options at an affordable price. Coffee and milkshakes are worth the stop to enjoy will gobavk again several times on my way to Milford orarpund the bays
