Low-key spot for a quick bite. The food is good and the meat is properly cooked. I had chicken and lamb platter and both were delicious. One serving of meat may not be enough if you are hungry.

Always got this at least once a week. Brought again last night, I have to ask....what's changed? I got mixed chicken & lamb with chilli sauce & extra tizaki (can't spell it!) sauce. The flavours were still there but the lamb was hard & had hardly no tizaki sauce but had extra chilli sauce. So was too chili for me to enjoy. Will give another chance though.

I have to give Dimitris a 5 star approval. Over a large number of years of buying their Greek food I have never been disappointed. The souvelakis are great and you get a really big feed of tasty meats (or vegetarian) salads and sauces. A small place on Riccarton Road so car parking is slightly challenging. Although you may get lucky find an empty car park on the street. I do recommend Dimitris for a great Greek meal and think you will not be disappointed.

What else can I say but.... "Oh my God". Only the best souvlaki I have ever had. Always make sure I drop in to have one or five when in Christchurch. I live in Australia so doesn't happen as often as I would like. Especially over the last year and a bit thanks to COVID. I'm going again for one last double chicken Saturday before I fly home.

Great food. Speedy service. Well priced. I hadn’t been to dimitris for a few years and decided to go for tea this week. I was not let down. The food was cooked right in front of my eyes and was very fresh. I had a chicken souvlaki and it was the perfect size. I still haven’t quite worked out how to eat them without getting the sauces everywhere yet!

We are from Melbourne Australia and we came here few days ago after 2 weeks in NZ and may I start things off by saying THIS IS THE BEST GREEK SOUVLAKI I HAVE EVER EATEN! mind you there are heaps of Greek souvlaki/gyros places in Melbourne but Dimitris does not cut short on taste, amount of meat and veggies and our bread were steaming hot all the way to the last bite! I had to buy a 2nd one for myself that's how bloody good it was!! Typical Aussie I had to eat it with my hands. The plastic forks are a waste but I guess that's how NZ'ers eat!

Come here often for lunch during my work breaks! Obviously they have there busy hours during the day - work breaks etc but the staff there are always extremely fast and trying to get your food to you as fast as they can! Amazing spot in town to grab your meal and go find a lovely spot to sit by the river. Souvlaki’s are always consistent and super tasty! Obviously you just have pita, meat you choose (single, double, triple) then lettuce tomato and there beautiful authentic sauce! I have been visiting Dimitris for over 10 years and have never been disappointed! Thank you for being such an amazing place!!!!

The souvlaki in pita was notable for chunks of tasty meat but then there was just a bit of salad and sauce, overall pretty bland and somewhat hard to eat in the thick pita bread so they give you a fork.

I had been to Dimitris Greek Food in 2003 and was greatly impressed by its great food. I think they moved and I was so happy to have found them in the container mall this time when I came to Christchurch again. I ordered a mixed (lamb and chicken) platter and a pita to share with my daughter. Generous portion and is as delicious as what I had in 2003. It is such a nice dish and I hope I don't need to wait for another 10 odd years to have it again. You have to try it if you go to the re:start container mall, look for the stall with the longest queue. Very, very delicious food. You won't go wrong.

I really enjoyed the falafel with olives and hummus, but 10 minutes later, my tummy was not so happy and I had to dash back to the hotel. Would risk it again as the flavours were good, as long as my hotel was nearby, just in case!

I have heard lots of things about this place so I was so excited to try it! I must say it taste amazing how ever I was a little disappointed... because the pitta is so thick they then put far to much sauce so it wasn't as enjoyable! When I finally tasted the falafel by it self it was amazing just wish they didn't have so much sauce and the bread was thinner. <br/><br/>The chicken was moist and nice flavour! Like I said early very messy <br/><br/>

This is quite possibly the best food I've tasted in a really long time. The double chicken souvlaki is just incomparable with anything else. I'd come back for more but your portion sizes are so big I'm still full! The cost was super cheap too considering what you get.

I've been here twice and the first time I had it, I was blown away at how delicious it was! But I've had it for a second time and found the sauce far too salty and overall-overpowering. It was quite disappointing as I was excited to go back after two long years.<br/>But the bread itself was still delicious and the wait didn't take too long. I'm not sure why it was so salty that day, my first experience was faultless!<br/>Don't feel the need to go a third time, but definitely recommend it to others to give it a go!

Every visit to Christchurch CBD would not be fully satisfying until you've tried one of these. Good bang for buck, fulling, flavoursome and authentic. If you're not a fan of the dollops of sauces they tend to drown the fillings in, you can ask them to tone it down a little. Will definitely be coming back next time I'm in the city.

A Christchurch institution. They, alongside Santorini's, defined Greek food in town. Ah the joy of a spilled souvlaki down your front. There's is still a fine example. Served quickly from a busy caravan though - it lacks the sense of love that was so imbued into the food as you watched it created in the shop. Or maybe I'm just being nostalgic.

I have had good souvlaki here in the past but yesterday we got 2 lambs and both had chicken mixed with the lamb - I know meat and this wasn't a case of the wrong meat - it was a mixture - if they were running out of lamb this is not the way to fix the problem - we felt badly ripped off

This little food truck is super popular! you can spot a Dimitris souvlaki almost everywhere in the restart mall area! So we decided to have a go, and boy it was huge! the lamb was tender and juicy, with lots of sauce and vege salad. Our only concern was how to eat it in a neat manner without making a mess!

Dimitris Greek Food is amazing. This place seemed to be the only food place with a queue in Christchurch and no wonder! The meats taste like the real Greek deal and the tzaziki is fresh as it should be. I ordered a double portion with lamb and beef and could just finish it and although it was my lunch I was still stuffed for the rest of the night. I wonder how hungry you have to be for a triple?! Very good price/quality ratio and definitely worth a visit if you like Greek food:)

Superb souvlaki. One of, if not the best in town. One of the few places that does all meats AND falafel well. Marking them down for two reasons - one is that recently they haven't been cutting their meat up into small enough pieces, which can make it akward to eat, and two, that quality tends to go down a little bit during busy hours. Yet to try their new shop on Riccarton Rd, but eagerly awaiting!

Great tasty souvlaki. I love how chunky the pieces are and the bbq flavour goes well! Also a lot of meat all the way to the very bottom which is excellent! Only downside would be not being open for longer ;) and parking but other than that it's good.

I have nothing but bad feedback for this place! I have been to most souvlaki places in Christchurch in search of a decent souvlaki. I have been here 3 times hoping each time for better service and food, each time I have gone I have been sorely disappointed! Each time the food was sloppy. I had chicken the first time and it was under cooked. The second and third time I went I got lamb, lamb was all grisel and fat the first and totally over cooked the second. I will never be back! I hope that the owners read this and train their staff properly. I was appalled by the young women who have served me, the attitude was that of someone who couldn't care less about their customers. I cannot rate them low enough.

defiantly the best tasting souvlaki's around by far and the lamb is the best tasting lamb i have ,unlike most souvlaki shops where you get nothing but salad slop and buggy all meat ,here you get more meat than salad .The only thing i can fault about dimitris greek food is that they are all ways so busy and some times there mite be a wee wait but you will be so happy once your first bite that you will not even remember the wait, go try one for your self today.

Amazing Souvlaki's, no matter what type of meat you get; Chicken, Beef, Lamb. All of them are juicy and the salad is fresh and the souvlaki is so filling it makes a great lunch! I've tried these souvlaki's in the old store before the CHC earthquake and I loved that you guys came to the Winter Wonderland at Canterbury University and I hope you guys come back this winter so I can enjoy your souvlaki more often!
