Review Hello Vietnam - Christchurch

What a great find! Delicious fresh Vietnamese food, fast and in generous portions. We went early on a Sunday evening, by the time we left there was a queue at the door. Not surprised! Snuck in behind Riccarton Rd it's a hidden gem. Awesome value!

I Love Love their duck here, so Jucy and crispy!! And their soups are massiv! I tried most of them and they were all good!! Definitely recommend it 100% Also good for big groups!

Been here a few times, most of which are pretty good, except for one time. The place always seems busy, and popular place, food is tasty and authentic, but sometimes popular items sell out, and parking is bit tricky to find. But this time, not sure if we ordered the wrong thing or the chef messed up or what happened, we wanted pho but got this shredded noodle pieces, not a fan of it.

If you want to dine out in Christchurch, New Zealand must try this restaurant and taste the authentic Vietnamese food.

Delicious! Authentic Vietnamese pho! Love the taste balance created by the lemon and the fresh chilli (available upon request). The fresh and crunchy sprout adds to the texture of the soft noodle. The medium rare beef is top notch as well! 5 star for sure!!

Delicious food and great service. First Vietnamese restaurant I've ever tried. Couldn't fault the dishes as this is the restaurant that made me fall in love for Vietnamese food! Only thing is rice a little bit dry .. not too big of an issue though as the main dishes carried the experience. Parking a little too hard because this place shares with Eden Alley upstairs

Really enjoyed our noodles! Great value for money, restaurant isn't cutting corners like Ancestral is doing with their noodles.

Fantastic staff. A shout out to our server Michelle who was helpful and lovely. Food was excellent. We had the garlic prawns and curry fish and long beans. Update. So it's been a year since I last wrote the review. I still visit the restaurant regularly because the food is consistently good. The restaurant owner Bruce is also the epitome of a lovely host. Chatty and friendly. As an update their fried squid is lovely, as is their chicken with cashew nuts.

Delicious food and great portions. Highly recommend the crispy squid as the other reviewers have recommended, never had fried squid quite like it. Menu item 23 (special beef rice noodle soup/pho) was delicious but be warned, it's massive so bring an appetite. The sweet and sour pork, Vietnamese pancakes and fried egg noodles were also packed full of flavour. Looking forward to dining here again next time I'm in Christchurch

Wow. This is what an restaurant is, an owner who takes pride and talks to their customers. Authentic flavors, excellent customer service. Had 13, 46 and 56. Cannot fault at all. Only bad point is I'm only passing through, but is definitely the best I've had so far in Christchurch. Will come back whenever I am in town. Dessert was wonderful. Wife loved the flan.

I went to this restaurant because it was close to where I live, and the business was pretty good. I ordered beef noodles and chicken noodles. Beef noodles have a lot of meat. We also ordered Vietnamese spring rolls. This dish is not bad. The sauce is also authentic, crispy, sweet and sour.

This restaurant is a great place to go for Vietnamese food you can easily get into. They have a large selection of foods to choose from, though I don't recommend all of them. There are some very fresh options, with some requiring to be ordered hours before coming in order to be served fresh. The owner is very friendly to everyone and the staff are very quick with everything.

My first time with friends at Hello Vietnamese restaurant. The food was delicious and flavoursome and there was an excellent choice of food on the menu for gluten free and those with celiac. The staff were welcoming and informative. The portions were a good size and more than enough for fixed no. of people . We ordered Set Menu and believe me it was too much. Restaurant is located at very pick location on Riccarton Road. Parking was good. The restaurant has very good space. But if you are going in weekend please book it before going. After been there I love vietamese food.

This is my absolute favourite restaurant in Christchurch ✨ The food is always delicious and no matter what I order I am always delighted with my meal! Considering the quality and portions of the meals, the price is reasonable. The staff are also polite and always efficient. I would highly recommend to anyone looking for somewhere to eat in! 😁

Really enjoyed their pho & the fried spring rolls. The Vietnamese pancake was huge! And it was good & crunchy. Really good value for pho so 10/10 bring a friend :)

Have been here for lunch few times already. Here is always busy, and need to be waiting a long time for ordering food although after 2pm. Love this special drink.

We love this place. They have always a table for two people available last minute. You have many choice in the menu and the pho is just on point. The staff is also very friendly and welcoming. They also come over to ask you if you like the food, very nice. Probably the best vietnamese restaurant in town. Recommend

Amazing food beef noodle soup is the best and the waiters and food service is amazing

My husband and I went here for our anniversary. It was packed! The food was amazing, huge servings too, and the staff were lovely! The owner came around and had conversations with everyone, which I think was really nice. He was very upbeat and happy. The atmosphere was nice and welcoming. We will definitely be back, and it's one place we always recommend to people!

Amazing atmosphere with great service. Wish we lived in Christchurch so we could come here more.

We didn’t really have a great experience at the place...the staffs weren’t friendly enough, the way they talked, make me uneasy...the soup was abit too salty for our taste but the crispy spring rolls were definitely a must try

I have been going to Hello Vietnam since a few weeks after it opened. I used to order my food after I finished work and pick it up on the way home. The always pack it very well. I.e - my fav Pho #28 the soup and meat in one container, the noodles in another and the garnishes in another. Quality of the food has been consistent since the very first time I ordered. Personally I think it is well priced for pretty good and fresh food. I have been there with heaps of my family and friends and ordered a variety of dishes. None of them disappointing. My only criticism is the staff. They don’t seem to be very alert about the diners as many times I have had to wait with my hand up if I wanted service after the food was bought to me.

Dinner out for two and really enjoyed the food and service. Good for Vegan & Gluten free diners. Menu was very large but not too much to have trouble choosing. Will be back to try more dishes.

Possibly the best pho(Vietnamese rice noodle soup) in town! Certainly the closest to what we had became accustomed to living and travelling in South East Asia.

We always opt for the sliced beef and beef balls but we are sure the options are just as fresh and tasty. Just be aware of the “special beef” as it will include all of the beef toppings including tripe.

Everything else we tried is very good, the fresh spring rolls, the fried spring rolls, and the beef salad being the other highlights.

We will definitely keep going back and trying the other items on their menu.

We also were surprised to spot Ice Kachang on the dessert menu which we’ll try next time!

We had special beef rice noodle soup and sweet and sour squid. Beef dish was alright, but they were skimpy on the bean sprouts. I definitely don't recommend the squid. They only put about 6 small squid pieces and just heavily coated everything with sauce.

Lovely little restaurant, cheao and friendly and the food tastes almost like the real thing in Vietnam! Definitely going to be going back! :-)

Started off well with my traditional ice coffee. Staff remembered my husband’s beer just before we were leaving not so good. Price is good but food is average.

They had very good beef pho and fried chicken! Service was also very good, all the workers are very friendly and did their best to serve everyone as quick as they could! (:

VERY RUDE STAFF, no say thank you and when i ask something they just pretend forgot or not happy. Never come to this place again and definitely not recommend to my friend ti come here. Bad experience

The best pho that I've ever ate. We searched through google and found Hello Vietnam and it was superb! The pho itself has a very big portion and lots of great ingredients inside. I've tried a lot of Pho in different countries but this one hands down is the best one so far.

One of my favourite restaurants hands down. Dish #28 and #35 have got my heeeeaaaarrrrtttt. The service is quick, the manager knows every dish by heart and that’s some dedication and love to your business! The food is affordable, try to book your table before coming in because whether it be a Tuesday or a Saturday this place is always busy. Why? Because it’s amazing. Many dishes to choose from whether your vegetarian or a meat eater. Ps get the iced coffee with milk next time you’re in. You won’t regret it
Nikki
Delicious Vietnam food, I ordered number 28 it come in a big bowl the size is worth the pice. Highly recommended if you haven tried this place.
Lachlan Kitchen
Hello Vietnam is my absolute favourite restaurant in Christchurch. I have eaten at tonnes of Asian cuisine restaurants but this is my #1. This is because of the incredible fresh produce and the amazingly tender and succulent meat in every dish. The service is great and hella friendly, and always go out of their way to make my experience even better. But the price is the best thing about this place (other than the food). You can get 3 mains for $45-50, which all are cooked to order and are served in under 10 minutes guaranteed. My family and friends consistently come back and will always continue to. My top three recommendations are the Vietnamese Chicken Curry which is packed with flavour and great veggies that are dripping is the most amazing sauce I've ever had. The Salt and Pepper squid which are crispy, succulent and perfectly seasoned. Lastly the Lemongrass and Chilli Chicken is simply a whole plate of chicken bursting with amazing spices. However, the best combo is to order a Vietnamese Curry and a fried rice as the sauce and rice complement each other like nothing else. Other meals like the fried noodles, Chicken salad, sweet and sour pork and much more are all top quality meals that have to be tasted by everyone. Truly a wonderful experience every time.

Yummy crispy squid and chicken pho (rice noodle soup). Best I've had so far in Christchurch. Would recommend. Tucked away just off Riccarton Road.

We've been here many times, dining in and ordering takeaway. Food is always delicious and consistent, and friendly, accomodating staff. It's always packed, so booking advisable if with a group of more than two.

Really good service here and its clean! Cripsy chicken was good and so were the fresh springrolls. The bahn ceo wasn't filled very well could do with more stuffing but it tasted ok! Soupy noodles were good but need more hoisin sauce on the side! Overall a good experience and one of the better viet places in chch

Hands down the best value for money out of anywhere in Christchurch. Food quality is excellent, always fresh and great flavours. I always recommend this place to everyone I know and they always say its fantastic!
Sometimes you might experience abit of poor service probably biggest draw back, but I found service to be good most days!

Delicious place to share a meal! 5 of us went for set menu 2 and really enjoyed every dish. We unanimously agreed the squid was the highlight! The place was packed so I was grateful they were able to fit us in with an hours notice.

I like Hello Vietnam. The food is beautiful and flavourful and a really good price. I go back quite often its a nice place to get beautiful cooked food at a good price.
It's really good restaurants!! :-) . I'd like the bolili pork with egg ,it's very fat, very sweet but not greasy . I also like the chicken salad, refreshing!

Clean, new restaurant that has most of the classic Vietnamese dishes. The menu feels very hit or miss. The entrees are all of acceptable quality, however the the mains seem to be very hit or miss. My friend ordered the lemongrass chicken on rice which was very nice, however my pho (noodle soup) had so much salt/msg in it it was actually inedible.
Caroline
Friendly service and yummy food. Bf and I enjoy quite a few dishes so far, definitely looking forward to try more dishes here :) I love lemongrass related dishes so I often order spicy chicken with lemongrass♡ My bf enjoys Beef noodle soup, and recently we fell in love with the noodle dish we ordered a few nights ago(which shown in the photos I shared). Worth a try if you love grilled pork! :)

Have been here three times. The restaurant hasn't failed me once yet. All the dishes we ordered are delicious. Even my Vietnamese friend said their food is good.
The place is really busy so booking will be recommended!

Been there a couple of times and can say that its not one of my favourites. The food is sweetish and runny. May be caught them on their bad days but my experiences weren't great. Okay service and prices.

Went to Hello Vietnam with my partner & Vietnamese flat mate.

Was by far the most authentic Vietnamese restaurant in Christchurch.

Delicious food, Friendly service

Only problem was they didn't have the vietnamese beer as they had only opened 2 days ago.
10/10 :) going here for dinner again tonight!!!
