The food here is incredible! Beer is nice and cold and the customer service is second to none. Thanks for an awesome dinner experience. :)

A hidden gem in full sights. This place has a lovely modern interior mixed with Asian history and culture. Buddha Stix is a great location for a formal/casual event with we'll priced food. I would recommend you book ahead because it is a smaller place.

Really authentic delicious dining .. in fact if I could've licked the plate clean, I would've.

The service is great. . . . There is nothing bothersome. . . The food is great and the service is great. . . . The coffee is also delicious.

Delicious food. Crispy pork starter was the best I've ever tasted and the Laksa was fantastic! Service was lovely and i found the prices very reasonable. The only thing I'd recommend working on is coming over to take drinks but especially meal orders a little quicker because we were really hungry and we ended up having to call someone over. Also the wooden chopsticks looked quite old and even though I prefer to use them instead of a fork I didn't because they didn't look clean. I'd recommend getting some new ones please.

Caleb Bromley is completely wrong in his review. This does not pretend to be an upmarket Melbourne restaurant, nor a dining experience based in Thailand itself. It is fusion food- as indeed it advertises. In this sense it delivers. Great taste, great service, great value.

Good food, great menu, good vibe, staffs did their best except at closing they were in such a rush that they forgot service a bit.

Not my favourite restaurant. The environment is really good. The service was good. My dish was really sweet for my taste but overall not a bad place

Loved the food and service was excellent! The waiter that served us was attentive and friendly. Food was altered to western taste but still good. The seafood green curry was a little too fishy for my liking but my partner had the pork stir fried egg noodles and loved it. We also had the combination platter which was great! Loved the gurri puff and the spring rolls.

This is a very busy place and the tables are a little too close together for my comfort but the food was lovely. I loved the fresh spring rolls, probably the best I have ever had and I think this is a great place for vegetarians and vegans because there's so many options that it's kinda overwhelming but in a good way!

Me and my family had very mixed opinions about of Buddha Stix and with good reason. The average menu and cool venue didn't have an impact on the score due to one of our meals being the Larb sent back because it smelt 'off' and tasted horrible. However, everyone thought my meal was great. I order the Red Chicken Curry and was exactly what I wanted. I perfect ratio of meat sauce and veggies. Don't get me wrong there are without a doubt better red curries in CHCH but this was still very good. Overall the service was average and price was also average. I would have the curry again but would probably resort to my other favourite meals before thinking of Buddha Stix.

Can't fault the food, bur services was rushed. Felt like they were hurrying us to get us out the door. We couldn't get a jug of water for the table. They said they come round and fill your glass up. They didn't! We had to wave a waiter down and ask. There was just two of us and the seating for two people is terrible. You're sitting on top of the person next to you and there is no way you can have any sort of private conversation. Even hard to have one as the people RIGHT next to you are part of it. I used to love this restaurant, but probably won't go back if it was just two of us. They also gave us the big heave ho 1.5 hrs after arriving by filling up the table beside us water glasses and again ignoring us.

Had lunch with a friend for my birthday. I love the booking online system, so convenient. Only flaw is that there seems to be a generic message saying "be advised the table is booked 1 hour after you". I found this amusing as we were the only diners there, we left before our allotted hour only to find 2 other tables in the whole restaurant booked. Anyway, loved my meal, even down to the plates they serve the meal on. Just simple clean flavours and nicely presented. The waiter was very nice and welcoming coming back to our table to check on our needs. Havn't been here for some years but it is always a pleasure. Many people speak highly of this restaurant.

*If you're thinking of dining here, book in advance

Busy atmosphere, very average food and a little overpriced

Dined here accompanied by 3 others, we ordered a standard spring roll platter as a entree.
When we were served our entree and mains I felt the place had overpriced their dishes.

I ordered a noodle soup as a main, the noodle to soup ratio was a little off and the soup was too sweet for me to enjoy. That could be my personal preference as I know many Kiwi/Europeans like their noodle soups sweet.

Overall, If you are looking for an authentic asian dining experience, i would go elsewhere

I always have the Vietnamese spicy fried noodles and the stir fried egg noodles for dinner at Buddha stix. Lovely place. Always crowded as the food is always in demand. Lot of parking for customers.

Although in the middle of busy riccarton, they have managed to create a spot of their own. A few reserved carparks, a giant buddha statue and greenery, my first impression was wow. But as soon as we stepped in, felt that the place was too cramped. The menu is a standard Asian menu. The food had some flavour but it wasn't great, although my husband thinks their seafood broth is exceptional. Meal size was ok and the service was also good. The restaurant will better suit a lunch/dinner with team or friends but not ideal for a nice quiet dinner. The place is very busy so please so book in advance.
To the management - are there any plans to restyle the waitress's apron any time soon..... ;)

Went with friends for dinner. My first impression of this place - too cramped!
However, the way they have designed the restaurant is great, which may make the space un-noticeable- unless u are sitting on the corner tables.
The service was good, food was alright, as we had high expectations, considering the hype..

as an overall experience, I will rate it 3.5/5

Good selection of food on Menu. Staff very helpful, their recommendations were perfect for a light meal that I wanted. There was plenty of flavor.

Really good service with friendly waiters. Ordered the spicy Singapore fried rice and was not disappointed. Others bought the satay chicken and we're all very happy. Quite expensive corkage however otherwise was cheap.

Delicious Asian restaurant. Pleasant staff, and quite fancy for a casual dinner date with friends or partner. The food I absolutely amazing! Although I do wish the portion size were a bit more generous. But definitely recommend!

As far as Thai food goes in Christchurch, this is among the best we've found. I definitely recommend a booking for the weekend (bookings can be made online or over the phone). Despite being located off busy Riccarton Road, Buddha Stix is tucked back in its own private lot and the massive Buddha head statue and greenery that greets you almost makes you forget you're in New Zealand. The restaurant has a modern feel with a very small bar/tall table seating area and a larger room with a mix of seating arrangements for large groups or intimate seating. We were seated along the wall where one side is booth seating and the other is a hard back chair. The room is bright with lots of windows, an ornate red mosaic and multi-colored patterned wall paper above the booth seats. The two-seater tables are small, so I am glad it wasn't cluttered with any decor or condiments. We were greeted immediately upon walking in the door and seated just as quickly. The service from drink orders to dinner orders was also just as efficient.

The menu is very intricate with options to please anyone. For starters we had the Spring Rolls (6 for $8.50) which came out quick, were crispy on the outside and soft and chewy on the inside. The rolls were served with two sauces: a sweet sauce and a soy based sauce. I highly recommend this. Not your bag, baby? They have plenty of other options from chicken wings and guri puffs to fried pork balls and marinated spare rib. If you're a soup person, you'll have plenty of options, we personally opted to stick with a main as we wanted to order dessert. The dinner menu is jam packed with your asian favorites from fried rice to noodle dishes, but what makes Buddha Stix stand out are its curry options and stir-fry/hot plate dishes. I ordered the Garlic Chicken on a hot plate which was chicken and various vegetables cooked in a wok with garlic (frankly, I could have been hit harder with the garlic as they say it's a "must" for garlic lovers). This dish was served with white rice and has great flavor. My husband had the Fresh Chili and Basil stirfry which he devoured. If you're a spice lover, you can request that the chef add some more heat, which he will gladly do. The mains are big portions and would be perfect split for two dinners. We took half of each of our dinners as takeaway.

For dessert, you must save room for the chocolate brownie. It is a slightly larger than normal brownie cut in half diagonally and served with chocolate sauce, vanilla ice cream and lychee sauce. This is one of the best desserts I've had in a while - if you're in a chocolate mood, this is for you! Overall, the entire meal was under $80 (including two drinks, a beer and a glass of wine). What a deal! With food this good and prices this cheap, we will be back again and again.

I went there a while ago. It was busy. If you wanna try out European flavoured Asian dishes, Buddha stud is not a good choice. If you expect traditional Asian dish, this place is not the best choice in town. I like its decoration, via reminds me of some popular restaurants in Shanghai.

Mid week business meal with colleagues. Last minute booking with a tight time frame to have a meal before a meeting and to their credit, they were very helpful and accommodating.

We arrived 15mins early and the restaurant was already busy. Promptly seated and ordered drinks while being given time to peruse the substantial menu.

Ordered a shared entree between four and this came out quickly and the taste was lovely as was the presentation. Just enough to tease the taste buds.

Waitress was very attentive even though the place was getting busier by the minute. She was pleasant and efficient.

Mains were tasty, hot and all came out quickly and together which was a bonus. Everyone at the table agreed that while the service was quick, it did not feel rushed.

Great mix of Asian dishes to choose from, so not just your stock standard Indian or Chinese restaurants.

There were so many tempting choices to choose from that I will have to come back and bring a group of friends with me so we can share mains.

The restaurant was very busy which is normally a good sign. The service was very slow we had a table for 6.30 and didn't get the main course for over an hour. The food was fairly standard Thai food, green curry, pad Thai nothing special. A bit disappointed overall.

Went and food there. Ordered drinks and thai beef salad, other friends ordered seafood salad. Beef salad was ok but the other meals was roughly done. No dressing on the vietnamese salad nor the seafood salad. Too much coriander and celery througout the salad. Drinks round two was late considering we had the tbl till 7pm, my drink did not arrive till 6.40 is pm. It has been a disappointing night all around.

wasn't even thai food.

Hi everyone,

My husband and I have dined at Buddha Stix several times. The food arrives quickly, it is piping hot, tasty and satisfying. The waitstaff are friendly and polite. The atmosphere is nice too.

Been 3 times. Great service and food every time so far. The restaurant is clean, modern and spacious. The staff are friendly and efficient. Gotta feel for them having to wear those silly aprons lol. The lager is cold, just how I like it!
The food has plenty of flavour too.

This was the first time I had been to Buddha Stix and I was not disapointed. The atmosphere was wonderful and we were quickly greeted by friendly waitstaff who took us to our table, as well as our drinks orders.

The menu has many options, most available with either chicken, beef or as a vegetarian meal. We ordered two chicken Pad Thai's and one vegetarian nut stirfry. The meals did not take long at all to arrive and were beautifully presented on rectangular plates. They are certainly generous in portion sizes, as not one of us could finish ours and we are not known as being petite eaters!

Despite that, we couldn't pass up the opportunity for dessert and chose the chocolate brownie served with ice cream and lychees, one of a minimal three options. It, once again, arrived quickly and was as nice as it sounded (and looked!)

The waitstaff were very attentative, constantly checking to see if we needed anything and if everything was alright. I would definitely recommend this restaurant, and would happily return again.

This would be my favorite restaurant for lunch. Have been there may times for lunch and to dinner twice. I definitely prefer the experence of lunch over dinner.
Lunch always comes out extremely quickly and has a vast choice of excellent quality dishes.
Very quick service (to quick) But extremely good prices.
Dinner service is slower and we were kept waiting for too long, although once ordered the meal was produced quickly.

Dined here to celebrate a family member's birthday on 26/11/11. In a party of 3 the menu items were Steamed fresh fish in a curry Sauce, Peanut Sauce Stir Fry with Chicken, and Gang Par with Prawns. Booked a week in advance on line, no problems. Arrived at 625pm for 630, on arrival, staff all otherwise occupied even though the place was far from full. We were then shown to our table and perused the menus which have taken on a rather tatty appearance and need replacing. Staff member who served us had difficulty understanding order of Amstel Light. We made our menu selection and requested that the flavouring was mild in all 3 dishes. Gang Par was so spicy and hot that is was difficult to eat and needed copious amounts of water. The other 2 meals were fine. On paying the bill, all 3 staff members at front of house were busy with their electronic tablets, so was kept waiting to wait to pay the bill. Third time we've dined there, we usually get someone familiar with the menu serving us. The place may be becoming the victim of its success

We went there after a friend recommended this place.

The food was yummy- very fresh tasting, with a good amount of spice in my Panang curry. They had a large range of vegetarian options and Pegasus Bay Riesling. Will be eating there again. Staff were friendly and the place looked clean.

Meals were about $18 each, which was good value for money.

This was one of the first restaurants I was taken to in Christchurch. I wasn't an adventurous eater, but found Buddha Stix to be very yummy. I have been back since, always enjoying my meal and leaving with a full tum!

Great restaurant! It is Vietnamese and Thai food which is great. Food comes served on very nice platters. The decor is fresh, clean and modern. Definately one of the more fine dining asian restaurants in Christchurch. Prices not bad, service is good but not great. Have been here 3 times and will be back again!

Have been to Buddha Stix on a couple of occasions and have always been very impressed. The service is second to none and the meals are very interesting and full of flavour. I cant wait for my next dining experience at this restaurant.

This place was simply heaving with people when we arrived. But we were seated promptly and were well cared for. The food arrived incredibly fast and was delicious. Slick and professional!
