Review Ground Floor Cafe - Christchurch

If I could, I really want to rate a 6-star out of 5, absolutely surprised by the latte art and the freshness of the food with perfect cook. Just right amount of the sauces which makes the food tastes fantastic and healthy. Highly recommend and will visit again.

Very impressed latte art! Lots option for breakfast menu but not much food in the cabinet so if you wanna grab something nibble then here might not be the place. Great coffee and friendly staff.

Really enjoyed a sunny afternoon here. The iced mocha was incredible, the Thai beef salad was tasty, but the beef was a bit tough. The wedges were yum.

Wasn't a planned visit but I'm glad that we popped in. The kids menus are varied, interesting, and good value. Plenty of options for the adults as well. Food was excellent and the service attentive. Coffee was great with the coolest coffee art. My daughter loved the cat sitting on a fence with love hearts on her hot chocolate. Overall, we'll be back again

Food is okay. Looks good inside. I like the ornaments on the wall. Staffs are nice. I think the place just needs a bit of cleaning.

Food was good but the coffee was great. Requested for a dragon drawing and that's what I got. I don't know of any places that would offer this.

40 min wait for breakfast while other meeting attendees waited 10 mins. Poor quality coffee as a recompense for delay. This was prepaid, as usual poor NZ standards, quality of food was still shocking

Had brunch here recently. Service was quick and coffee arrived soon after. We ordered eggs bene salmon with a side of bacon, and corn fritters with bacon. Portions were large! The corn fritters I had were great.... So much but I wasn't leaving anything behind, that's how good it was. His eggs bene looked nice and he enjoyed it very much. Place was steady on a Sunday early afternoon. Would go back again.

Was a bit disappointed today when I ordered the "Steak Manwich". It normally comes Rare but I asked the waiter if I could have it Medium instead which he said was no problem at all. However upon taking a bite of the "Manwich" it was so Rare that it actually mooed at me. I ate around the blood and did not eat steak. Oh well there's $26 I'm not getting back.

Absolutely delicious breakfast. The eggs were cooked to perfection and the coffee was close to my favourite cafe in Brunswick Melbourne. Very friendly staff and very prompt service. Recommend 5/5

ordered the baked salmon salad, the salmon was tasteless (maybe had been frozen) and the salad was more like iceberg lettuce with a sort of bland mayonnaise and strange chunks of chewy rubbery bit of kumera. Quite disappointed.

Unfortunately we seem to have visited on a day that Ground Floor Cafe were having an 'off day'. Took two attempts to get our coffee order right, and food took a little longer than expected. It was a Sunday morning, so possibly not their busiest time.

However the coffee and indeed the food was very nice and quite well presented. The owner / manager(?) did apologise for the coffee mix-up and deducted them from our bill as a gesture of good will. We will withhold our vote (like / don't like) until we have the chance to experience a normal service day at this cafe as we're confident it will be a 'like' and don't want to give a negative vote before we give them a chance.

A group of four of us went here for breakfast on a Saturday morning. I decided to check it out based on the other great reviews.

Service was excellent, with our orders taken promptly and the waiter informing us there would be a slight delay with the meals, which really amounted to nothing.

Among our group we had Eggs Benedict, pancakes and corn fritters. Everyone though the food was fantastic. Our only criticism, if you can call it that, is that the portions were a little on the large size. I almost had to force feed myself that third pancake (they're about an inch thick)!

The coffee was also great. This is only the second cafe in Christchurch where I've received a cappuccino with real chocolate on top (the other one is Dot Com Cafe in Sumner)!

Now there is one negative point I need to raise about Ground Floor Cafe and that's the very high noise level. The cafe has a lot of hard surfaces for sound to reflect off, but the biggest annoyance was a very noisy food blender (might have been for making smoothies - not sure) that was being used on the counter, rather than out the back in the kitchen. The noise level from the blender was like a builder using an electric drill. In addition to all that, there was music playing, which we felt was unnecessary. We found ourselves all leaning in towards the centre of the table to hear each other speak. One of our group, who is a little hard of hearing, missed out on a lot of the conversation. I'm afraid to say, that despite the great food and service, the noise level would put us off going back.

LOVE this place! I have Celiacs disease & I find it challenging to eat out, the Gluten Free pancakes with bacon banana are a real treat absolutely delicious! We stop in almost every day for takeaway coffee (mocha) my personal fav! Staff are amazing !
