Review The Pedal Pusher - Christchurch

We chose to eat here because it was in the Entertainment Book app. Great brunch menu, but you can tell that it is more pub than cafe. The service was top notch. Very friendly staff who were happy to accommodate our group. For example, they had run out of almond milk but were happy to pop to convenience store next door to get more. Unfortunately, the food was average. I got the big breakfast, the bacon was tough and dry, I had maybe 3 slices of mushroom which looked old and dry, as were the salad leaves on the plate. Milkshake was flavourless and icy. Steak cooked well on steak benedict. We would return, but not for brunch.

Great food n drinks at great price, always loved it

On our week away we had such a great night with friends sharing starters we went back again two more times. Service and food top notch. Sampled everything and was cooked to perfection. Cocktails yum as well! Totally recommend. We will definitely be back!

The food especially the seafood chowder is to die for. The team were so amazing that when I went last week I noticed the recipe for the chowder had changed, it was nice but not phenomenal as I was used to. I gave feed back to the attentive staff and they said they would bring back the old recipe, so I went again tonight spontaneously and of course the amazing version of this must try seafood chowder was back on the menu. I highly recommend dining here and if your not a fan of seafood then the cocktails are moreish, delicious and super cheap at only $10 each. Will dine here at least once a month and will bring all the special people in my life to celebrate special occassions. Thankyou so much to the owner, the chefs and the rest of the amazing team.

Fantastic service. We were celebrating a birthday. No faults in the food that we all picked. Would recommend. We didn't have a Birthday Cake. They made us all a dessert , the birthday girl enjoyed every mouthful. Just be careful when ordering a wine. Small pour 150 double the price for 250. Looking around $19.

This was a great restaurant, one of the best i’ve been too. The food is great but the drinks are better and cocktails are only $10 all the time! Must try the lemon sour it’s to die for. Will come back again!

Our waiting gent and lady were so friendly. Tap beer was so good! We had chilly prawn dish (hot! But nice) and beef burger. Beef burger had caramelized onion and soft patty! All tasted gooood. We were in the dining area but the bar area looked fun too. We'll definitely come back!

Beautiful food and amazing service, if you want the most melt in mouth squid this is the place to get it the garlic flat bread is so nice and the chilli chicken is lovely with a nice kick, I didn’t try the polenta chips but there were no complaints from my table. Will definitely be back soon.

What a wonderful evening, a night out with my Mum and Dad and we were so well looked after, shared a laugh or two with the staff and dined on the most beautiful 3 course meal served at a lovely leisurely pace and Dad got to see the rugby. We need to make a special mention to Samatha who is a student who we didn't get to meet but who spends time in the kitchen making the weekly dessert special. Has to be one of the best cheesecakes we've had in a long time. Thank you to the whole team, helping us create memories

We had my little sisters 21st last night at Pedal Pusher, and the staff, service, venue, food and drinks were absolutely amazing!! They were so extremely helpful and accommodating and the whole process was a breeze. We had such a wonderful night! HIGHLY RECOMMEND THE PEDAL PUSHER!

We stopped for a drink on a hot day. The staff were pleasant enough. The nibbles we had were dopped fom the freezer to the deep fryer. Not a special place,

Fantastic food!!! I got the brisket sandwich which was awesome. My husband got the beef rump which easily stole the show! We had a GrabOne so got both delicious meals for $25. It was a bit slow coming out but definitely worth the wait! It was absolutely delicious.

Enjoyed my time at the networking meeting the other day. Good coffee and a great muffin for breakfast. Spacious inside and it was nice and warm given that there was rain falling heavily outside. Car parking is normally ok but can be quite difficult at times meaning you have to persevere. Nonetheless worthy of a visit as if was service and food.

Great place, such lovely service and delicious food. Always good to catch up at and great location near many events. Good selection of beer and spirits definitely the best in the area and all of chch imo.

Quite a unique little place. Used a grabone voucher for 3 adults which was very economical. The food was fresh and tasty. We were seated quickly and served promptly. Highly recommend when looking for a place to dine in Addington. Our little girl lived the fish bites with chips. I had the Thai salad which was very yummy.

Good range of food choices, excellent customer services, and a wonderful venue for catch-ups with friends. Have been a few times, will keep coming back!

Came by for dinner on a Monday night and didn't realise they had a pub quiz on. Even with the quiz the noise wan't too loud and we were still able to chat.

They had black dog beer on tap and a nice selection of food. Went with the beef ribs and it was nice and tender. The mash was nice but the corn puree didn't stand up the the beef flavour.

Nice staff who checked on us regularly.

We were a group of 4 who decided to dine here before the Macklemore concert Saturday 30th July. Booked in for 6 it was around half full. Full by 7. Drinks we ordered and arrived quickly meals taken quick too. Was really good to have waiters come back and ask us for more drinks throughout the night. The meals were delicious. We even had dessert. All of these were also amazing (even though I couldn't finish mine). Very impressed and have been recommending to all

Had lunch here and was sorely disappointed. We both ordered a berry smoothie which tasted like they each had half a bottle of tomato sauce added in and so many ice cubes it was pretty much tangy tomato water with seeds. For my meal I got the Caesar salad - big mistake. First of all, the bowl was far too small and extremely overloaded with a ridiculous amount of lettuce so as soon as you tried to pick something up it would all go spilling over the edge. The chicken and bacon were stone cold, the croutons were soggy and stale and the whole thing just felt like it had been cooked and prepared a couple days ago and put in the fridge waiting to be ordered. I would have expected at least hot meat as the meals took so long to come out. Overall was possibly one of the worst restaurants I have ever been to and to top it off the employees seemed like they could not care less about our presence.

Visiting from Florida, great food, it did take a bit for the food to arrive but the staff was friendly and professional. The food was excellent. And the dessert even better. I had the homemade pie, and for dessert the sticky date pudding.

Came here for a pre concert dinner! Food was tasty but took some time to get food out and drinks but I suppose they were at maximum capacity. Left knowing I enjoyed my dinner and Christchurch has some really tasty places for a town still recovering from the earthquakes. Can't wait to go there again when it's back and bustling vibrant city again.

Love coming to this place. Every time I come I find the food is consistent and delicious. Great breakfast, haven't come here for lunch before but definitely do rate their dinner and dessert.
Kieran
Food was average, we had the duck $37 for a very small serving of breast and 1 piece of asparagus and 2 beans.Very small servings for the quite expensive menu prices, the staff were nice and the wait time was average. Your not a fine dining restaurant so portion sizes need to be larger or your prices significantly reduced.
Victoria
Really nice for drinks and nibbles. My friends and I love doing the 3 little plates for $33 in the evening with a glass of wine. I had my first ever creme Brule here and it was stunning!

The full breakfast was great.
I always say that a full big brekkie is only as good as it's Mushrooms.
Their Mushrooms were excellent!
They also said no problems to a side serving of B/beans so my gastronomic treat was complete.

Its also interesting being in a themed place.
It has been built pretty well over the top of the "Persian Kitchen" which was demo'ed post EQ in 2012; we had a soft spot for that place!

Went for dinner on a Saturday night. The food wasn't too bad if a little basic, the potato and veges were bland and overcooked but the superb, well-cooked steak made up for it.

Our fondue dessert was a let down, for a "meal for two" it was very small and basic, almost something you'd expect to find on a kid's meal elsewhere.

Service was good, waitress was prompt and attentive despite being busy.

Got quite loud not long after we arrived, however it was a Friday night so you'd expect that.

On 31 May at 14.20 we ordered 2 lunch meals. An hour later the other waitress told us that our order was missed and they can start to cook it now. What a f? Mc Donalds definitely has better service standards.

We came to Christchurch for a visit, but wasted an hour of our time waiting for nothing. Definitely the worst restaurant we've been in New Zealand.

The waitress who took our order was short brunette with dark lipstick.

Great food and great staff. Dined in at pedal pusher on a busy Sunday, had prompt service and the food was amazing! We had 3 tapa plates, chicken nachos and kids meal. Came to $53 with entertainment card. Will go back.

Only negative is $12 for cherio kids meal. It came with a handful of chips , very over priced but the rest of meal made up for it.
Laurissa
Great service and amazing food!
We rung up at about 7pm to book a table on a busy saturday night. They managed to book us in for half an hour later. We were also in a rush to get to the movies and the staff informed us that the kitchen had been told and our booking would be a priority.
The girls serving us were so lovely and we didn't feel like a hassle at all.
The food was delicious and super fast. We will be back!

Have been here a couple of times, once on a very busy Sat night and we were a party of 8 with no booking, the waitress managed go get another party to move tables to accommodate us! Fantastic staff and great food at a reasonable price. Will definitely be back!

Really like this place for a light meal, delicious sliders!

We've been to Pedal Pusher quite often, and always love it. Took friends this time, their first time there. They are pretty stiff critics but they loved it too. We usually go early in the week with our son but this time was Friday night. Buzzy atmosphere with the Friday night drinks, awesome flavoursome food and nice wine, fun service.

We (two of us) came for brunch on a Sunday morning, most of the tables were occupied but it wasn't exceptionally busy. Disappointed that we waited an hour for our food, and we would have appreciated one of the wait staff to tell us there was a delay. Overall the food wasn't bad but didn't justify the wait. I probably wouldn't go back unless it was for a drink.

Decided to try out this funky new bar over the weekend.
Decor was nice and the place felt light and not too "pub like".
Service was pretty good.
we ordered a Garlic bread starter, rabbit risotto and fish of the day. Meals arrived pretty quickly, our garlic bread order was forgotten but the waitress was incredibly apologetic and offered to get us another one- but by this time we had our mains so decided to forgo the bread.
Meals were pretty good.
We had a look at the dessert menu, but didn't really see anything that appealed which was a bit of a disappointment.
Overall we enjoyed our meal here. Would probably go again.

The food was a very high quality and beautifully presented. Menu has a good range of dishes. High quality restaurant food at an affordable price. Great atmosphere and fantastic staff. We will certainly be back, we live locally and will be visiting on a regular basis in the future.
Visited 8/9/2012
