Review Winnie Bagoes Ferrymead - Christchurch

Well, as pizzas 🍕 😋 go, that was pretty special, we decided to purchase from the more expensive selection of pizzas, and it didn't disappoint. There were so many toppings, and it was cooked to perfection. As for the staff, they were so helpful and polite, and the food came super fast ! Would highly recommend Winnie bagoes 😍

We had an absolutely awesome birthday party for my mothers 60th. We had a private covered outdoor area (around 50 people), which we were allowed to decorate. The pizzas were absolutely delicious! Fantastic wait staff, who were more than willing to help out with our demands. Brilliant manager, who was bubbly and really awesome at providing the best night possible. Drinks were yum and the venus is brilliant, especially if you need a budget friendly place. Amazing work, would highly highly recommend. Thank you so much!

Went here as a group of 7 for some dinner and drinks. The food was amazing as always, we throughly enjoyed the fries and mozzarella sticks as our starters. Pizza was delicious too, and the cocktails we absolutely loved. Service was good, staff were very friendly and accommodating. It is quite busy and so sometimes there’s a wait, but for the delicious food and drinks it’s well worth it.

The fried chicken was to die for - insanely good & totally 5 star on that side of things but unfortunately the wait times were not great with only one bar staff when our football teams arrived (Ferrymead Bays local so they did know we were coming) The staff were unprepared and unfortunately after an hour wait we all left without eating what is usually a really nice on the house pizza & chips to share as part of the sponsorship of the club.

Went here for a work do and it was fantastic. The interior was pleasant and not too busy. Food was out quickly and servers were friendly and happy to help. They have a lovely covered porch with seating perfect for gatherings. The pizzas were good but there was nothing to rave about when ot came to flavour. Their garlic bread looked amazing but didn't have enough butter. Definitely try it out if looking for pizza

What a lovely way to spend Father’s Day. The staff were so lovely given how busy they were. They just kept checking in when we waited for our food. So lovely of them. Ps the food here is divine !!! If you’re after a good hearty pizza and pasta then this is the place. Everything was served beautifully, great portions and the flavours. Just beautiful. Can’t wait to go back again.

Had a great pizza school lesson for my little ones 5th birthday with his friends. They had a blast! Great to do something a little different than softly or trampolines too.

I have been coming to this pizza place before they changed there name. And everytime. I mean every single time I go. I have the best experience. Yesterday it was my son's 10th birthday. They went above and beyond for our table of 4. The food was delicious and everytime I take someone different with me they are always blown away too. There was nothing I could flaw. Pizza is always delicious and makes you forget all your problems. The low alcohol slushie was delicious with fresh fruit slices. The dessert was amazing and hit the spot. We finished it off with a coffee while the kids enjoy their pictures to colour in and sundae. Thank you for always providing the best experience. I highly recommend you to all.

Great pizzeria, spacious, friendly staff, lots of drink options. Also a good choice for team functions.

Good food. It's a shame that you have to pay for the arcade machines. In the Rangiora Winnie Bagoes, they are free and the kids love them. Happy with food and service though.

Second go around and much improved! Staff were engaging, friendly and attentive. Took our drinks and food order in a timely fashion, checked on us, and made us feel really welcome. Food was great, as always! Thank you team, we had a great night! 😊 Kelly, your follow up was very much appreciated. Thank you! It’s a great place you have! The vibe is good and it’s just a really nice, wholesome place to be.

It was great, service was 10/10 Looked after my dietary requirements Food was delicious Montana my waitress and Kelly the manager was outstanding 10/10. Came in for a family anniversary and they delivered. Never felt so at home. Definitely give you the kiwi experience 👌🏻

My friend and I decided to share a half & half pizza. I picked 'nice to meat you' and it was nice if a little mean on cheese... She picked one of the pork pizzas with coleslaw - we now agree that coleslaw should never be put on pizza. I liked my drink, she thought hers was a bit sweet. Service was excellent!

Had a wonderful time. Best place for pizza and great service.

ALWAYS PERFECT. My local. Superb in every way. I love this place! Pizza is the best in the world and fries to die for and the hosts are LEGENDS! Shannon the manager is awesome and runs the place like a well oiled machine! Mike is the promoter par excellence! Love it.

The food is tasty, especially for the ribs, so tenders and juicy. Pizza also great! Friendly service as well. Love this place!

We went there on a Tuesday night and it was quite busy. Glad we booked in advance. The waitress was very lovely and helpful. I had the Cajun chicken pasta and it was absolutely devine. The place was very clean and tidy. Nice fitting decor. My only qualm would be the faux leather seating. It wasn't very comfortable and needed some repairs. Otherwise the service and food was top notch.

Winnies Ferrymead never disappoints and probably has the best service in Christchurch. Pizzas are amazing and have so many good quality toppings. And they don’t add less toppings when time goes by like a lot of places will do. And that banana dessert pizza is just to die for.

Used to be one of my favourite pizza places but the quality has recently gone out the window and I am throughly disappointed and I will definitely not return

Got a takeaway pizza from here, was one of the worst pizza's I've ever had. How they can charge $34 for the slop I got is beyond me. The base was doughy and way underbaked. The pizza had no flavour, and was just a whole lot of mush. The price is the thing that concerns me most about it. The pizza is worth $10 max, but I wouldn't even waste $10 on it, knowing how awful it was. This is not how pizza should be. I remember going to the town one and being dissapointed with the pizza there too. So I know this isn't a one off. Sadly, most other pizza places in Christchurch are pretty bad too, but not as bad as Winnie Bagoes. Avoid if you know what is best for you.

It was my first time here with a few friends for dinner and I personally was very impressed to say the least. It was a thursday evening and it wasnt packed. They have a juke box with an excellent collection and you may get to see something a bit weird like people dancing after a few slices of pizza! Has a well stocked bar too. Very nice pizzas and jalapeno poppers. Although they serve other stuff too. My friends who frequent this place swear on the spicy lamb pizza and boy was it good. Great ambience, absolutely spotless service. Not much I can complain about even if I tried. So if you have a chance, try this place at least once.

For a pizza joint it is relatively expensive but pizzas are quite tasty with a wide range of unique flavours and options on the menu does make for a hard decision. The option to have more than one flavour does indeed help.

Normally the place is relatively busy making it quite noisy and loud indicating it to be popular. The setting for family dinners is good if you are able to get the tables in the far right hand corner which are tucked away and removed from the main seated area.
I personally would recommend the lamb souvalki option very good.
Service can be good at times but can also be very average, but the occasions where I experienced it to be bad was due to it being packed out.

would recommend for large functions for sharing food, but not for a night out with the partner.

Favourite pizzeria, a ritual to go whenever I'm in town. It used to be in town, but then had to move several times due to the earthquakes. It was kind of out of the way in Ferrymead for a while, but that did not stop my sister and I going for Winnie's gourmet pizzas, ever. Plus their bread fingers. Yum.

I went here a few weeks ago for dinner with my mother and we had the most awesome waitress. I actually wrote into Winnies to let them know what a great job she was doing (they didn't seem to care, but that's another story). So we arrived without reservations and there was an event happening in the front of the restaurant. We were seated and our orders were taken (there was some strange buy large get it half price deal happening), and then we were offered free appetizers from the event (which were salmon and amazing) and then our waitress scored us giftbags from the event. The pizza was fine, I had salmon and she had Moroccan lamb which she didn't enjoy that much, which was a shame seeing as it was giant.
So we had a great time even if the food we actually ordered was only average. I guess without our awesome waitress the night would have been just an average night. In general I think Winnie Bagoes pizza is overrated, but hey, I got a $20 voucher in the giftbag so apparently I'll be back.

Went here for lunch with my sister and were promptly seated but left without menus or water as the waitress had to attend other tables whilst the other waitresses walked around us pretending to be busy. The original waitress came back with menus and recited the day's specials. We ordered the chilli pesto bread to start and two pastas one being the special cajun chicken with blue vein sauce and the other the normal cajun chicken plus our drinks. The bread starter was amazing albeit messy to eat and thankfully there was a lot of it as no one came back to meal check or ask if we wanted our mains for half an hour. The pastas were also delicious but quite spicy even for my heat loving palette. Again, quite generous servings and we had to get the remainder to take away which they were all to happy to do. Somewhat let down by service but being peak lunchtime this was forgiveable.

Have been to both city and Ferrymead Winnie Bagoes this Jan with family and friends. Colouring sheet menu and pencils were great for keeping kids occupied whilst waiting for pizza. Kid's meals good price - one fed both my four and two year old. Also popular were the spider drinks and bought back memories of good ol' cob & co to see traffic lights and pink panthers on menu. Definitely recommend traditional pizzas, we demolished the tricolore and funghi prociuttio at Ferrymead. Roast chicken and satay chicken were very average at city.

The meal started out great with a delicious bowl of wedges served promptly, but unfortunately our main, a half and half pizza with mexican chicken and venison took over an hour to get to the table by which time we were very frustrated. It was however very flavoursome. Not impressed by the average desserts (cheesecake and an ice cream sundae).

Overall an OK experience and was pleased that they refunded us for the wedges to say sorry about the long wait for the pizza.

I've been going to Winnies for many years now and I have to say that I think their standards have dropped recently. My pizza was average (the base was quite burned) and the service was pretty amateurish. Don't think I'll be returning for a while.

Very yummy vegetarian pizza's!!!!!!!!!!! Lovely place to dine great friendly staff. Nice and warm inside in the winter great to sit outside in the summer definitely one of my favourite places to go! They also do gluten free food to so great for vegetarians and gluten free people

I have spent 2 nights in a row here with 2 groups of friends. Quite frankly this is the best place for consistently good pizza. Whats more while we were there on Friday the drinks were half price. We found the staff very attentive and never had to wait for a drink or our pizza for any longer than you would expect. Especially impressive given it is the silly season!

We visited the Ferrymead Winnies for the first time recently and were disappointed in the pizzas, having eaten in the City Winnie's before and enjoyed it. The chicken, cranberry & brie pizza was pretty tasteless and didn't seem to actually taste of any of the elements of the pizza. Friendly service, and a pleasant enough place to go so will have a different pizza next time and hope it's better!

Great place, delicious pizza and salads(haven't tried the pastas), good for families as well. Nice atmosphere.Excellent service. Great to have a decent place in Ferrymead.
