Been here 2x in a week.
First experience wasnt great. Our waitress came across quite rude which made our experience not a great one. Had to ask for cutlery and side plates and the waitress didn't seem very friendly when we asked for these. Dumped the plates infront of one of the guests and walked away.
Came back again today and it was a whole new vibe. Service was fantastic. Super friendly.
Over my last two experiences we ordered a range of things. Burger, pancakes, caesar salad, fried chicken and large chips with gravy. Iced chocolate. Iced coffee. Milkshake. And hot chocolate.
Both times the food were good. Friend chicken serving i felt was a little small for the price you pay. But thats my personal opinion. Tasted delicious tho! The burger was great! Chips and gravy was so delicious, would be ideal to have a larger gravy jug with a large bowl of fries.
Iced drinks were so good. Especially the iced coffee reminded me of starbucks!! And the drizzle of honey was a nice sweet surprise.
Caesar salad is so yum! Chicken was super juicy and it had the right amount of flavour. Pancakes were super fluffy and super tasty!
We will definitely be back.

Derek at Joes Garage was amazing!!! Canāt recommend his customer service skills more!! He was so friendly from the moment me and my friends walked in the door. Accidentally gave us the wrong drink and let us keep that drink and have us the drink he had mistaken. Such a friendly guy and so welcoming!!! I would come back here again!!! First time there for our group of 4 and we had a great experience. Food was really great that was obvious by quick consumption and empty plates. Staff interacted well and there was a bit of ribbing going on. To finish 2 of us had the soft ice cream served in a glass rather then in a cone it was really yummy. Our group would definitely go again.

Well setup for the space available, food was good but, for what I had I thought it was rather expensive to be honest. Probably because of the acoustics in this building, it was rather noisy for a restaurant, IMHO. Service was good š š.

Really nice place for a good affordable meal. Quite a popular place, so it is often somewhat loud but that actually gives you the privacy to talk freely at the table. The food was really good. I recommend coming before 5pm to get a late lunch or even breakfast. I had the crispy burrito and found it tasty, nutrious, very filling, and great price!

Average.<br/><br/>Service is incredibly slow. Staff appear disinterested and more interested in trying to look cool.<br/><br/>Pretty disappointed with the food too; I had the mushrooms and egg on toast. I was told that 'Joe doesn't poach' the eggs. Not sure what Joe has againts poaching eggs, but was pretty disappointing. So I opted for a fried egg, which while was nice is something I can do at home. <br/><br/>The food then came with a few mushooms on general sliced multi-grain toast. Very disappointed with small portion and crappy bread.

very disappointed. overall this is one of the worst places I have eaten, the joker, one of the meals on the menu that I ordered, it seriously looked like it been picked out of the rubbish bin, it was dreadful. Also, the chips I ordered were so dry, they seemed like they were 3 weeks old, and my wife had theĀ orential joe, boy this was absolutelyĀ disgusting, the meat was drippingĀ in grease and it was so tough and overcooked, disgusting. To top it all of the service was terrible, my waiter a young aged adult with blond hair, he just didn't care, he was so lazy even Homer Simpson would have done a better job so terrible. I just watch him and he sat on his ass the whole time on his phone, he probably doesn'tĀ know what hard work even means. From my experience, i would not recommend this place to anyone.

Had dinner here and ordered a Cesar salad, and a cheeky Joe. <br/>The Cesar salad was great, very tasty and certainly would have again. <br/>The waiter took our order wrong and came out with a chicken how instead. They took it back and offered a complimentary drink which is good, but upon paying the bill seemed high. This was questioned to make sure we went paying for the complimentary drink or wrong meal and assured that it was correct. Once home I have looked up the menu and we paid $6 more than we should of, the same difference between the cheeky Joe and the chicken Joe. It's not much money but disappointing given I specifically asked about what was being charged for. <br/>The Cheeky Joe was also not a great meal, very little beef and no bratwurst as advertised. <br/>A bit disappointing given how good the Rangiora Joes is.

Good place for breakfast or brunch. Plenty of options to choose from. I ordered the pikelets with bacon, banana and golden syrup, which was delicious. The banana smoothie was nice but I could hardly taste the banana and got more of the honey. This place is quite busy on a Saturday morning and I can understand why. Good variety, good but not overly great food, and decent prices.

Went here for a late breakfast, both me and my partner got pancakes, good portion, very busy for a small space, bacon was very crunchy could have chipped a tooth if we weren't careful but I like all kinds of bacon so I didn't mind. Coffees were good.

The best of experiences every time. Joe's Sumner is an outstanding venue for breakfast, lunch or casual dinner. The staff are consistently attentive and good humoured. Great food and plenty of it. Brilliant coffee. Thoroughly recommend the place.

Good simple off the grill fare, with quality base ingredients and cheerful obliging staff. I pity the way in which each time I eat there you'll always find someone berating the staff for refusing to poach eggs; it's a grill and styled as a diner. The food and coffee is delivered piping hot and swiftly whilst the staff are both patient and attentive. If you're looking for something nice to do on a sunny day a bikeride out to Joes affords both the exercise to burn off the calories from the large portions you'll consume and give the opportunity to stop off at either the Tannery or Twisted Hop on the way back for a beverage.

My partner and I have been to Joe's at Sumner several times now and it's a fantastic place to enjoy a gorgeous Christchurch summers day. We always get the beef and chicken burger and it never fails to satisfy.<br/><br/>The fantastic staff really make this place amazing, they are always pleasant, smiling and just great to deal with.<br/><br/>We will keep coming back :)

Have been here about 3 times now and I love it!! Perfect place for a lazy breakfast in the sun. The staff are friendly and have a great knowledge of the menu. Nice touch having dog bowels in the out door area.

Perfect. Its not very often that both the food and service are excellent but today at Joe's Garage they both were. Great staff, (attentive but not intrusive) and the food was spot on. I had the Clever Trevor (mince on toast) and my partner had the Teddy Best (chicken) and we also enjoyed the pikelets. Yummy to everything. Well done Joe's Garage. Very much appreciated.

I'm a Sumner local and have recently discovered Joe's Garage. Fantastic service and fantastic food. Hubby and I have been there a few times in the last few weeks for breakfast and lunch.<br/><br/>The food is reasonably priced, the staff very friendly and welcoming. The place is both child and pet friendly (which has been great for meeting friends for coffee).<br/><br/>Hubby's favourite is definitely the chicken burger with chips..... the gravy is fantastic. I love both the porridge and the tiger salad (a moroccon chicken salad on rocket - fresh, tasty and healthy).<br/><br/>We will be back :)

Very disappointing breakfast. When I asked for the eggs benedict I was told by the waitress that I couldn't have poached eggs as they could only do scrambled or fried eggs. Why have it on the menu if they can't cook them! Had the pancakes which were ok but not what really what I was wanting.

Food, staff and coffee are great. Quite noisy if you are seated inside. Only one gripe...<br/>Coffee is served in miserable sized cups. Paying nearly $5 for a coffee I would expect a good sized cup or mug.
