Review Coffee Supreme - Christchurch

V K
Food and coffee excellent, barista super friendly. Service to the table, not so great. Bottomless coffee wasn’t refilled, no cutlery provided, & just not very friendly!

Super cute, feelsy cafe with a niche experience right at the center of the city tucked away from all the madness! Had a beautiful afternoon with my Mother here, something I cannot replace with money 🙌 10/10 flat white too and Holly was a gem.

I love this place. I make a detour to grab a coffee from STC and it's always good. I've never actually eaten here so can't comment on the food, but the service is great, it's north facing so is bathed in sunshine on a nice day and the place generally has a nice atmosphere. One of the few cafes that would make me want to come into the city! Definitely recommend you check it out.

Excellent establishment! Doesn’t have quite a cult following like a few other cafes so it’s quite easy to get a table. Love the coffee & crumpets. Sparkling Water on tap is a huge W. Main guy (i think he’s the owner) that I am usually served by truly loves his job and provides excellent customer service. Overall really good — happy and proud to be a repeat customer here.

It’s a rare find coming across a place that shows you real hospitality. From the warmth of the staff, the aroma of good speciality coffee, to the excellent food, South Town Clubs shows a genuine care for its customers. I would highly recommend them to any and all!

Just an outright brilliant little place. Super friendly, amazing coffee (few places bother to make an iced filter coffee good but they make it delicious) great specials and all round great food. Scrambled eggs were perfect, like just the right amount of buttery and even the soup special (and I generally dont much care for soup) was brilliant. It's nearly impossible not to get a cheese scone, they are just right and provide the perfect amount of salted butter to go on them. My photo only has half the bottom of a scone because I couldnt help but eat it immediately. A+ would recommend and am looking forward to trying more things.

I've always loved Coffee Supreme's single origin coffees and aesthetic, and Supreme Supreme didn't disappoint on those fronts. Service was delightful and food (especially scrambled eggs) was awesome. The biggest issue we had, as travellers, was that there was no WiFi - I think a little connectivity would have made things a lot easier, it didn't need to have been an excessive bandwidth or amount, just enough to get on maps would have been nice, or do what some other cafes do - set a limited number of connections.

Hands down the most beautiful food I’ve eaten since being in New Zealand. Chips were perfect, real hand cut potato with togarashi salt and sesame Mayo! Went down well with their housemate Gochujang hot sauce. The ‘doubles’ (housemate turmeric flatbreads with curried chickpeas, mango chutney, roasted coconut, corriander and pickled cucumbers) were just delightful. A flavour experience I didn’t know I needed. Service and coffee were great, 10/10 recommend to anyone looking for lunch in Christchurch.

Brilliant brekkie burger and delicious dumplings. Standout was the potatoes hash, perfectly crispy and delicately seasoned.

Very nice place to visit for breakfaststaff is very polite and especially like the cinnamon rolls that were big locally in the place this morning. Coffee is was also very good but the fried eggs are not recommended, you must try cinnamon roles. Staff is also very energetic.

Arrived to a cheerful smile from staff and clientele. Free water avaliable. Only went in for a coffee but the cheese scones caught it eye. Coffee and scone arrived at a good temperature and very nice. Clean coffee shop with a bright ambiance and sun streaming in but cut by blinds. Availability products to buy in good view.

We came here after finding out that the Portershed doesn’t check vaccine passes and only does takeaway... (I prefer my brekkie without a side of covid) and wow, we should have come here first in the first place! Absolutely amazing coffee, really interesting and different menu, lovely and friendly staff, cool vibes with fun music and funky decor. Highly recommend, thanks for the awesome brunch ✌🏼

South Town Club is phenomenal. Dan, the owner, is a champion and you can tell he puts his heart and soul into this place. The staff are all lovely, the food is incredible, and the coffee is the best in town. South Town Club feels like a community hub and I can't recommend it enough.

Gorgeous menu showcasing seasonal produce and general deliciousness. The coffee is always good. I enjoyed the omelette which was courgette, parsley and whipped feta last week. Friendly service and a nice quietly buzzing vibe. Nice place for takeaways or dining in. I look forward to going back.

Bloody great corned beef hash (though really it was more like unsalted salt beef, or slow-cooked brisket) and amazing scrambled eggs. Big portions on both. Really nice hot sauce too. Long black was good, but not spectacular (given they pride themselves on coffee), but was assured by compatriot that filter coffee was excellent. Lovely menu and interiors design.

@supremesupreme (CHCH)

We ordered:
Breakfast bowl $13 and Avocado toast $13.50. The breakfast bowl was basically granola with whipped coconut cream and nut milk. A little to coconutty for my liking. Couldn't finish it because the coconut cream was too heavy for me, and the portion size was decent. But if you're a fan of coconut go for gold! The avocado toast I would say was quite overpriced (albeit most avo-toasts are). Nothing special about it- like could have made it at home with some avo, lemon and cracked pepper. It would have been nice if they gave us another slice of toast or something else on the side, but was yummy nonetheless. Overall I would say the food we tried was very average. Not good nor bad.

Average price: $18 including drinks

Vibes: Brekkie before work.

Parking: free parking reserved for customers! Woooo

Negative: Sub-par food.

Positive: The vibe! They renovated an old fish and chip shop and somehow managed it to look hipster and chic. Large windows so good natural light coming through. Would love to grab a hot chocco and crack down on some work here. They have an amazing neon sign that says 'double happy' and it made me so happy. If you want a pic for the gram or need a nice café to do some work would recommend coming here. Also, food pricing is pretty decent!

Amazing breakfast and absolutely LOVE the choc fish milkshake - so tasty! All the times I have been there the staff have been lovely. Obviously depending on the time you are heading in there you may need to book! Great atmosphere and reasonable pricing, totally worth it!

Really bad service and over priced for bad food. They stood around talking for a very long time and made stuff coffees before our coffees which took about 30 minutes to get out because they forgot our order.

Really friendly cafe not far from Columbo Street. We stopped off for coffees & were tempted by their food but didn't have time to eat. Sat out in the sun. Coffees were well made. Tea came in a cool tea pot with a cup & small milk bottle. Presentation on point

I ordered the fish and chips with milkshake for lunch. I think the fish was monkfish which I don't usually enjoy but this was qood. The milkshake was nice and cold with the correct amount of syrup. Service was friendly. I enjoyed being able to watch the kitchen.

I really like supreme supreme and appreciate their ability to cook a poached egg perfectly 🍳. We always take any friends visiting Christchurch here. Coffee is lovely

Unfortunately had a bad time here, as staff lacked the communication skills in describing their terrible menu layout. I ended up spending way more money than I should of as I was led to believe I was buying something else. When questioning their staff, they kind of laughed about it and threw it off as "this always happens." And "we usually tell the customer." All that does to me is show me how ignorant they are to how poorly designed their menu is. Fix it then!! Plus the food was average!

I really hate to rate Supreme Supreme this low but I really was very disappointed.

I have been to Supreme Supreme a couple of times, sometimes with friends and sometimes by myself. While there have been some inconsistencies with the coffee, it was overall a really amazing experience made possible by the amazing staff. And for that reason I have recommended this place to multiple friends and it was one of my 'go to' places... it was.

Unfortunately this time, Supreme^2 missed the mark by a mile for me.

This time I was there by myself working on my presentation and because of the fact that I was there by myself, it was inevitable that I looked up once in a while to observe my surroundings. What really shocked me was that I felt that all of the other tables were really well looked after, except for mine. There was this staff going around checking up on everyone (unfortunately not me) and taking away plates that were finished. I clearly had my finished plate on the very edge of the table (I have yet to finish my coffee) and it was quite clear that one of the staff members saw it. But unfortunately, did nothing about it. It would have been all goods if ALL the empty cups and plates were left till the endish, like I would be cool with that if it is all like that but it wasn't. For example the table in front had their dishes cleared up despite the fact that they have yet to finish their conversation and their coffee. But again, mine was not.

I mean if everything mentioned above was like this all the time then I wouldn't mind at all, but because it was such a drastic difference from the last times I was there that I was left disappointed and shocked more than anything else. Just to emphasize that I placed a lot of the impressions on their services.

Look I'm not directing this at all staff members but I am just saying that it would be nice to step up a game a tad and make all customers feel valued even if they are by themselves.

So would I go back to Supreme^2? We will see but probs not. At least not for a long while.

If you're here for breakfast get the Hop Yick Hash (hello corned beef!). Also you'll want to get here early as it fills up fast. The staff are friendly, the decor is nice and light, the fashion is always on trend and the donuts taste flippin amazing. I don't drink/understand coffee but if you do you'll definitely want to check this place out.

In a land where everyone call himself a Barista, this a place you should visit. I ordered a latte and my partner ordered a soy cappuccino. The coffees were pretty good, coffee flavour and milk texture were good .Definitely we will come back.

Got the French toast and mango smoothie. Smoothie was quite small, freshly made but tasted a wee bit artificial and was warm- don't think any ice was added. French toast was nice but also very small, only one piece of toast. Poached pear on top was cooked very well. I added bacon for $6 but only got one piece which was surprising. Overall a nice place but I left hungry so would recommend just popping in for a coffee instead of a meal as the serving sizes are pretty small

Top notch cold drip. Modern airy space. No wifi. Reviews should not have to be140+ characters. WTF. Gonna have to use the space bar...

Everyone raves about this place, so I went. I like the setting, a very casual, clean restaurant in an old warehouse. Unfortunately that's all I liked while I was there. I ordered the "Supreme burger" which was terrible to be honest. The "salad" was bland and boring, why even include it if so little effort is put into it? The fries were severely undercooked, being the furthest from "crispy" as possible. The burger was the worst; a stale hard bun sandwiching an overly dry and chewy skirt steak (a cut of beef that I usally enjoy very much). This steak was sitting on a pool of horseradish sauce, almost as if whoever came up with this dish realised how dry the steak is, and desperately tried to drown it in sauce, the sauce also does not go with the burger.

It does seem that this place is more of a "breakfast and coffee" spot, and perhaps I didn't order the best possible dish. However, this is no excuse for the atrocity I received. I will return to try breakfast and coffee due to the popularity of this place, and will change my review accordingly.
