Table of four, great coffee, good options. My dish was the French toast and it was heavy on the cinnamon and DELICIOUS! 2 big breakfasts and the table were well appreciated too. Beautiful view, lovely staff.

A slightly different menu, beautiful, original. Plenty of choice for my vegan and gluten-free friends too! Very tasty food and an excellent view from the terrace. Friendly staff and clean toilets.

The cafe is next to the beach, there is a playground and some toilets next to the cafe. I ordered flat white (regular one), taste is ok, staffs are friendly. It’s a good spot to drink coffee while enjoying the beach.

Being right beside the beach, it's a lovely atmosphere. The service here is very friendly. I loved their iced mocha. It was delicious!

It's a great spot as it looks out on to the ocean and the waves and the surfers and it is great for efficient service and pleasant staff, always smiling and never bothered about unusual dietary requests. Very accommodating staff and genuinely friendly.

Fabulous brunch and stunning views, I had the eggs benedict with garlic mushrooms, just delicious. I'll definitely be coming back

The food is nice, and ambience is great, right next to the beach. You can sit in, or get take-out coffee. Staff are very friendly and service is good.

Great location, superb new owners, beautiful and smiling head waitress, and scrumptious, well priced food. Great burger! Very busy on weekends.

My first time here. The lass with the cap was great. Staff were friendly and attentive without being intrusive. Make sure to stop in when out at Summer

Fantastic view!!! Delicious seafood chowder and dad REALLY enjoyed the big brekkie! I need to go back to try it myself. It was so good, I forgot to get photos of the food.

Good little lunch or breakfast spot. With a killer view. They serve Bohemian bread with many of their dishes, which really takes it up a notch. We had seafood chowder and my daughter had fish and chips. All good. Coffee was excellent too. There’s a park, an ice cream shop, and a kid-friendly beach right next to it too… so, great for those of us with little ones.

A very pleasant resting place before or after an Esplanade stroll, with great views of Pegasus Bay. Food and service were very good and prompt.

Service was great but coffee was just fine. It's a great loction but I wouldn't come back here for coffee if I had other options.

The best things about this cafe is it's location. It has a great spot looking over the beach, and perfect to while away a few hours.

The staff and food were good. Nothing particularly great, but nothing bad to say either.

The main let down for me was the decor and furniture. For such a great location, the furniture was plastic and felt very cheap (and not very comfortable); the plastic 'wipe clean' tablecloth also made it feel like I was in a 1980s era 'greasy spoon' cafe in the east-end of London... not what you expect from a beach side Cafe in Christchurch.

A group of girlfriends have been going there on a Friday evening for drinks and a nibble or two. A stunning place and a view second to none. I wish I had known about it being open earlier in the summer. Very excited to be walking down again this evening, we would love to see more interesting platters but I am sure they are working on this.
A great spot to meet friends escpecially if you can walk home!

The new (to me) arrangement of furniture and decor inside is pretty good. The menu - well, I haven't got past the Salmon frittata, fries and salad- excellent and reasonably priced considering the quality.

Two problems: they still haven't sorted the ventilation in the ladies' loo (the window needs a ladder to open), and the "ambience". Personally I find the outside ambience of the sea, the breeze/wind and sun all I need or want.
Inside.. there is apparently, a strict law carved in stone that THERE MUST BE MUSIC, otherwise known as "ambience" or "atmosphere".

I don't mind quiet music but this is too loud for me. On one day recently, the music was off for at a least an hour and no-one fainted. Conversations were being held in quiet and comfortable peace, and it was most enjoyable. However, an encounter with the Manager resulted in an almost unpleasant exchange in which she asserted that EVERY CAFE IN THE CITY has "ambience".

Now this is not true and it not a given that people can't eat without music preventing them from hearing the conversation they are having. Some of us have hearing issues which make background music just too much to bear.

This is a lovely cafe in a lovely setting and deserves its popularity. But perhaps they could have "ambience-free" hours for those of us who prefer our food and conversation at a normal level? If this were tried, there would be loads of oldies converging, I am sure!
