Review Coffee Culture Riccarton - Christchurch

Madalina Perea
The place it looks very cosy and cute. There were a lot of things to choose from the menu, and I just didn't choose the best things. Got an omelette that was tasty, but it was only an omelette with bread, not even 1 piece of green or just something as a decoration, at least. Then the Lolly cake a took. It was ok, but just a piece of sugar with marshmallows. Good, but nothing special. The coffee... unfortunately, my cappuccino tasted like water with a hint of coffee. Maybe cuz I asked a big one? Anyway, the staff was nice and welcoming so I guess it compensates. Thanks to the staff, not so much thanks to the coffee!

The classic coffee culture experience. Warm and inviting atmosphere. Nice decor. Good chai and coffee. Good cabinet food. Good service.

Went to look for them. Found the new store up Rotherham Street close to Riccarton Road. Nice new fresh store. Greeted upon entry. Service was great. Good selection in the cabinet and on the drinks menu. Settled on an extra large, extra hot spiced Chai Latte and a Chicken and Pesto ciabatta roll toasted. Quick service again with the food and drinks. Enjoyed it. The noise in the store makes it difficult to hear a conversation and a phone call unfortunately. The stools, short and tall are very uncomfortable. Would I go again? Yes but probably alone to avoid a conversation and I'd choose a chair instead of the stools. Thanks staff for your great service and food.

Good place for coffee and healthy vegetarian food options. Modern interior design. Friends had bagels and they liked it. However, my $15 veg hash browns is just like an appetizer 🤷🏻‍♂️

Food was good. Took 10 or so minutes to come out. Food ready before drinks. Salmon bagel was great.

Perfect, I loved coming here during my three month stay in Christchurch. They're open early till late, so you can come for a delicious coffee anytime. While it can get quite busy, evenings are usually chill. The furniture and overall vibe are so cozy, I couldn't resist coming again and again. Definitely one of the best cafés in town.

Coffee Culture at The Crossing is always a place where you can simply enjoy a hot/cold beverage and very delicious/tasty food. The staff are always friendly and helpful. Highly Recommended 🙏🙏🙋🙋

The owners of this cafe are really friendly fantastic people. The staff are fantastic. I go here and work every Monday night while my boy is at basketball training. Great spot to work from

I haven't been to Riccarton mall for a while so it was a surprise to find that the Coffee Culture had moved. Still in a convenient location though! And I really cannot go past their salmon bagels.

I really loved their 'choffee' + chocolate covered coffee beans! Oh, and their music choice! I heard a couple of songs from my favourite playlist on Spotify (Your Favourite Coffeehouse), which made the experience even better! This is currently my best friend and I's go-to cafe.

Not the best cafe. I just didn’t like anything I ordered. The chocolate danish was stale. The frappe was watery. Highly disappointed. Never going back.

Very drinkable milk based coffee. Excellent food and amazing prices for the quality. Highly recommend. Savoury muffin and creamy broccoli mushroom pastry are delicious.

Would not recommend had a dirty big fingerprint in my cake when it was served to me. Gross! Other than that typical chain store coffee, nothing to write home about.

This is my local the kids are very polite and always up for conversation.
I'm not happy with their wages and generally the way they are treated 15 min lunch breaks?
Coffee culture has free WiFi it's not that quick you can switch to time zone next door.
Great outside area there's always a few dramas on Rotheram street to pass the time.
There's heaps of newspapers too
Nice and secluded for the obvious Tinder dates too!
Doing this review has made me realise, I've been to coffee cultures in Christchurch over 50 times..

My first coffee culture experience at the riccarton branch was great, a little more crowded and noisier than the other branches as expected but still very enjoyable. I often order the japanese lime tea with either something from the cabinet (Feta and spinach muffins are my go to's) or a salmon bagel.

My best friend has raved about their Chai tea's for so long, they are a must try! And they even sell gift sized pottles of these by the counter!

Suitable for children too, play room and windows to see through

Overall I enjoying coming to coffee culture for a quick catch up..

Considering how popular the area around Westfield Riccarton is it's really lacking in decent cafes. Coffee Culture is one of the better options! It's conveniently located, there's a decent amount of seating for different group sizes and there's a playroom which is perfect when you're meeting friends with kids. The food is cabinet style and while it's nothing amazing the cheesecake is worth raving about and so are the drinks from the cocktail range (coffees with a little bit of extra kick). I've always found the staff to be friendly and genuine.

I'm a big fan of the whole Coffee Culture brand. I love their selection of cabinet food and drinks and that they're open late into the evening.
I was particularly excited on my most recent visit to Coffee Culture Riccarton that they had a raw chocolate and caramel slice, something you can usually only find at specialty raw/health food cafes (of which there are few in Christchurch).
The slice was very rich and I found the top chocolate layer a bit too thick, but I am definitely not complaining.
I'm excited to see if Coffee Culture bring out more raw options!
Free Trade Winds
One of the plethora of this franchise that are now dotted all over town. The food and coffee are fine - standard cafe fare. The outdoor area though here is at the entrance which inevitably means fighting through the fug of cigarette smoke.

very busy cafe, not enough seating or space provided. the coffee is average at best, however the specialty frappes are very nice as are the cakes. my absolute favourite is the baked caramel cheesecake. service is below average.

Love their chai latte and hot chocolate.
I had been coming there quite often to spoil myself when was in Chch for a work trip.
Their Three chocolate Mousse and Chai Latte are just amazing. Though a small tip: if they offering you to choose among yogurt and cream on a side - go for yogurt, otherwise, this mousse is such a sugar bomb.
Staff was so lovely, they even put a small lolly plain and piece of Russian fudge on the side of my chai latte. I thought I am gonna die because of sugar overloading but the gesture was really touching XD
The venue itself is quite busy, especially in the mornings - no waiting at all though. Lots of light and comfortable seats. Everything for no-rush morning.

Passing through Riccarton and stopped for a bite to eat for lunch in the mall. coffee culture is a relatively small coffee lounge with a small display for foods almost a half which are sweets. With a work colleague so we ordered the same thing chicken cranberry and brie filo. For the $9 this was ample is size and came with a small salad and tomato sauce when dining in.
Quite tasty and retained its crisp flaky coating despite the microwave reheating. 4/5
I ordered a latte also and this to me was weak not being a milky coffee drinker but I am sure was fine. 3.5/5;
Not a super selection of foods not paninis limited pies and would clearly seem to do a better coffee and cake trade.
What caught my eye is they sell Torinos coffee syrups that are impossible to buy in Auckland. Im a fan of their Vanilla.

I loved my large bowl of Chai Latte. The burrito I had was delicious and I didn't feel it was really enough to fill me. The salad that had came with the burrito felt like a really stingy proportion. It would be nice if the dish came with two rather than one burrito. The staff members were lovely so I'm going to give a 4!

My iced mocha was not bad, a little too sweet for my liking, but bonus points go to the awesome man who served me. He was chatty and funny and full of personality which you barely see in coffee shops.

I go to this coffee culture branch often, and I love the Iced Coffee range, especially the Iced Choffee and Mocha Frappe's. However, when we visited tonight, me and my friend went to sit in an empty booth while my other friends were in the line buying drinks for us. Then a waitress came along and told us and ask whether we 'snuck in' while she wasn't watching and told us that we can't sit in these seats because they are 'reserved'. Well first of all Coffee Culture isn't a restaurant, there is no waitress at the front of the store to direct us to seats and tables so why do we get accused of sneaking past her? In my past experiences at coffee culture, we order the drinks and find an empty seats to sit in. And frankly, me and my friend definitely would not have sat there if there was a 'table reserved ' sign on the booth, which there wasn't!
