Review Joe's Garage Cranford St - Christchurch

Great service, fantastic food, and a coffee I couldn't drink fast enough - YUM!!! Only downside was it was quite loud inside, but it was a public holiday, so lots of people out and about.

Outstanding customer service and coffee. The dude with the funky yellow hair made our trip very memorable with his energy and friendly manner

Dropped in here for the first time. The cooked breakfast was a good meal. From the Police having coffee to St Bedes senior students ( recognised by their school tie) this is a very popular venue. Quick and efficient they staff provided great reviews.

Was my favorite place when we lived in Wellington, the Cesar salad never disappoints However their Schnitzel was very average.

Joe's Garage in Papanui I can't rate highly enough. The food was beautifully presented, tasty and the variety was excellent. Over a week I consumed a variety over breakfast, lunch and dinner. The staff where always happy in there work, friendly and helpful. I wish they would open up in Dunedin..my home town. I will return to Joes anytime I'm in Chch, Papanui.

Good café-style but restaurant quality food. The staff have always been very friendly, attentive and accomodating whenever I've been here. It's next to a good carpark, too.

We really enjoyed our meal, was a little on the small size, staff were awesome and so helpful, concrete floors make it a bit loud with chairs though. Overall would definitely recommend.

Great vibes, good food. Ordered a Caesar salad and a mocha which complimented perfectly on a nice sunny afternoon. Would love to come here again.

Had brunch on Friday morning. The coffee was fine, service was OK, but have to say the brunch was probably the worst brekky I've ever had. Two of us had scrambled eggs (fried and scrambled were the only options), bacon and mushrooms on toast. The scrambled egg was like cardboard, the bacon was overcooked so hard and dry, and the 'supposedly sauteed' mushrooms were rubbery. A huge disappointment. You might want to revise your options, and your Chefs.

Came to Joes Garage with a group of friends. I (and others) ordered a meal with poached eggs and was told they don't do poached only fried or scrambled. When it arrived it wasn't scrambled as most people know it. Apparently the eggs are cooked on the grill so they end up like a cardboard omelette. The rest of the meal was ok. The place is nice and staff very good but won't return if they can't oblige customers with poached eggs

Really really disappointed. Came in for brunch this morning with 10 other people (family). Ordered coffee and an orange juice. Juice great, coffee burnt. The version of eggs Benedict came with scrambled or fried eggs (ridiculous and can't think of why hollandaise sauce would go with eggs done that way?? but apparently they can't 'alter' the menu, 'it's policy' - don't care, it's lazy and crap of the company); so went over the menu to see what I wanted instead.

Ordered 2 slices of gluten free toast, a tomato, and avocado, simple right? About 45 minutes later it arrived. Toast...not. Tomato barely warm and certainly not cooked. The tomato halves were on top of the 'toast' so it was soggy. Not impressed and said I'd like my bread toasted and tomato cooked. A while later...not much improvement at all. Then a waitress came over to talk to me about it. I said I wasn't happy. All of my meal - despite how little it would have taken to prepare (I mean seriously?) was still not cooked properly. She apologised and said she would get it taken care of. I get to the counter to pay...nope. Got charged $22.90!!! Seriously? A coffee, a juice, half an avocado, a semi raw tomato and two pieces of bread. PS my brother was so disappointed he didn't order ANYTHING to eat. Oh and I'd give it no rating but the app won't let me.

returned on another busy sunday lunchtime - service A1 as usual, but unfortunately not the delivery this time - we categorically requested no onion or tomato for fussy childs burger - guess what he got - other childs burger literally swimming in tom sauce - this effectively ruined meal for both - parents schnitzel dish & chicken burger both excellent though - the flat white lacked any kick - will give another chance

Great service and great food. We ordered Thai beef salad, Joes Caesar and Teddy best. Wasn't a long wait on food but the place was quite. Over all we will be back again!

This is absolutely my favorite place to stop in for a coffee after my morning workout. I love the staff here, they couldn't be friendly or more efficient. Decided to stop in for breakfast this past Sunday because we had never tried their food before and their menu looks seriously delicious. On special that morning was the french toast, which they served in a different way than any other place I've been to in ChCh. First off, their bread was a cinnamon bread which was quite tasty by itself. There was no syrup, but rather a raspberry compote that was more bits of fresh raspberry than some sticky gooey sauce. I loved the taste it added to the toast! The french toast was served with a fresh cream that really tasted like whip cream. It was a great addition to the raspberry sauce and cinnamon toast. I added a side of streaky bacon as well, which was cooked perfectly. While this was a great french toast, it wasn't my favorite in the city... My husband had the Jose Burrito and he loved it. Loaded with beans and eggs and spinach, this is definitely the best breakfast burrito we've found so far. They were served with potatoes (and if you ask nicely, they'll bring you some hot sauce).

I definitely will return to try a staple menu item because they're muesli (my friend has had it before) looks AMAZING. It is loaded with apples, macadamia nuts and other oaty healthy goodness. You definitely get your money's worth with the macadamia nuts alone. Also, their counter items (lemon slices, chocolate chip cookies, chocolate muffins, Afghan cookies and Apple Cinnamon and Banana) muffins look to die for. Joe's serves food all day and has happy hour in the evening. The atmosphere is super casual and great for groups. There are several TVs and some sport is always playing (even at 7:30am). Definitely go see Joe's, you'll be glad you did!

I liked it. I'll go back. Slightly unusual in that there are no poached eggs and the hash was only lightly fried- basically just mashed potatoes- but it was all good. Hollondaise on the side next time as it came smothered.

After checking out the Zomato app for places near our accommodation we decided on Joe's Garage and strolled over from the Top 10 Holiday Park. We were a little apprehensive knowing that our little dude hadn't had a great sleep that afternoon but we needn't have worried. The moment we were seated, with a high chair brought to the table, crayons and colouring sheets were provided to help keep our little guy entertained. The waitress was more than happy to get the kid's meal order under way while we made our decisions, and gladly subbed out the chips for mushrooms with the kransky meal.

We decided on the schnitzel and chicken salads for our mains and all our meals came out quite promptly. We were impressed with the generous serve size and loved how the kransky sausages were cut into little octopuses. We also got two of their alcoholic cocktails - hubby was expecting a little more of a Jaffa taste and a kick in his. After the mains, the little dude was getting a bit hyper, climbing out of the high chair and visiting our neighboring diners so we unfortunately had to skip dessert.

The service there was prompt and very child-friendly with all of the waitstaff having a smile for our excited little guy as they went past. We'll definitely be back.
