Review Laneway Espresso - Christchurch

Usually at the majority of coffee takeout shops, they make it borderline thermonuclear… the coffee here was the perfect temperature so I could walk and drive with a morning coffee instead of looking for the nearest burn centre which was a great change! Solid 10/10 here.

Popped in for some warm food and coffee and so glad we did! Best cup of coffee, fantastic service and delicious food! And very affordable too. Highly recommend a visit, will be going back again

I feel like the reviews of this place speak for itself, but I’ll add my 2 cents. Been to this cafe a few times when I’m working in Chch, now I book the hotel next door just for this cafe. Staff are lovely and welcoming, food is bloody delicious. You get enough avo as a side to take home and feed a family.

Super nice Café, the best Caramel Cappuccino and the best Caramel Slice I had so far. Eggs Benedict were quite tasty, too. And the people working here are really nice!

A little morsel of goodness in Christchurch winter gloom. Laneway offers a comfortable selection of familiar dishes, treats and drinks, along with some more adventurous fare. Delicious coffee that could start any day well. Cabinet food made for yummy eating, but was easily trumped by the Pulled Pork Eggs Benedict - a breakfast that makes one's eyes roll back in food-induced euphoria. Go here for quick, well-honed coffee and stay for a breakfast worth your time.

I love their creamy mushrooms with truffle flavor!

Food a bit pricy. Quiet in spite of being roadside. Plenty of parking.

We came at the end of the day so the kitchen was closed and the cabinets were almost empty. Slightly disappointing- but in all honesty it's a good sign (shows that food is fresh and delicious). Coffee and sweet treats were perfect. My biggest bonus is that they were absolutely embracing of our toddlers, who had a blast running along the concrete floors. Thankfully all of the other customers had left, but the staff were so friendly and gave us space to have fun. Glad we found this little place and we'd love to return if you'll have us! Decor and layout were on point.

This cafe has such a great feel. Music is great and the staff seem to know the name of all the locals. Has such a great vibe. I really wanted to stay longer but had to go to work. Oh also service and food was excellent.

I’m here visiting from Australia and stumbled across this gorgeous spot. I could imagine this would be my go to if I was a local, the lovely lady on the till greeted all of her regulars by name. That extra mile and care honestly made this place so welcoming even as a visitor. Lovely food and the best ice chocolate I’ve had in NZ !!! Would give more stars if I could

Lovely staff, fast service, love the sparkling water tap - brilliant. Would be nice to see a bigger menu in the future! The full cooked breakfast was awesome, definitely worth the price as the meal was huge. Coconut milk as an option for coffee is the reason I will keep going back.

Got a Latte and Eggs & Hash, both were awesome. Super friendly staff. Location is very central, easily accessible from cbd. May be a bit expensive for people on budget, but it is worth it.

I drive past Laneway quite often and had been meaning to try it for ages.
I went for a Friday morning breakfast with friends. The cafe was reasonably quiet but the light streaming in was beautiful. I like the industrial but clean cut and modern interiors. Staff were friendly and helpful when I needed to alter a dish due to food intolerances.
The breakfast menu was nothing out of the ordinary but food was very delicious.
I had eggs benedict with bacon, served on potato rosti instead of an English muffin as I can't eat wheat. The potato rosti was so tasty and the eggs perfectly poached. But in my opinion there was too much hollandaise.
One of my friends had poached eggs on toast with sides of mushroom and avocado. Her eggs were also perfectly poached and the side servings were generous.
My other friend had a pesto bagel which she really enjoyed too.
I didn't have a coffee but both my friends said the coffee was great.
I'm sure I'll be returning to Laneway in the near

This cafe was so cute and such a nice interior. I liked how they had magazines for us to read in the mean time. Ordering the food, we had to go up to the counter. I pretty much think all the dishes were ordinary... Normal breakfast meal types.

Came here for breakfast with a couple of friends, and had the corn fritters with bacon and green salad. Contrary to the last review, things appear to have picked up somewhat.

Corn fritters were great - not overly full of batter with a goodly amount of corn. Green salad was also very pleasant, and the bacon was done well.

Coffee was very good.

Service was friendly and efficient enough, although there was a small wait on food when the place was only a third full; probably didn't help that three of us all ordered different food.

Situated opposite the cutesy little outdoor "sports park", the fit-out is Scandanavian-style modern with a few seats outside as well.

I'd certainly eat here again without issue. The menu had lots of things on it that I'd like to try, including a couple of different omelettes. Recommended for coffee if you are in the area.

1st time- I ordered the corn fritters with bacon, green salad and salsa for lunch. Fritters were very dry and so was the salsa,so asked for some aioli and that was forthcoming. The green salad was just spinach only and undressed, bacon was over cooked.
Over all not a very good experience.
2nd time- Went back another time for lunch and ordered the eggs benedict, with bacon. It was an enjoyable meal. Fast, friendly and organized service. The sparkling water on tap is good.
