Review Friday Street Food Market - Christchurch

Andrea Tripodi
Well, the food market is very nice. There are different choices and all very yummy. In particular, just to pick one favorite, I would say I really love the Singaporean one. It is so difficult finding Singaporean food, and it is so yummy... And then you find this one here.. And, yes, it is very yummy and cheap!! Love it!! Recommend

Variety of food trailers for almost everyone’s liking. Only open on Friday. Should open for weekend as well.

Check out the Spanish Panetela and the Filipinos pork kebab trucks - delicious food. I wish the food market is also open for lunch and dinner in Saturdays too, it brings a lot of life to the city.

Had fried chicken and chips. Very nice with chilli sauce. Usually I go to kfc for lunch. But the food caravan was cheaper and yummy.

Great place to find some good food and check out market stalls. Some food caravans are there all week. Try the japanese food and polka souvlaki trailers they are the best. Market stalls are there most days also over the summer months. Good selection of gifts and souvenirs.

This Cathedral is a must see if you are visiting Christchurch you can see the devastation of what an earthquake can do to a building that has been standing but over 100 years

This was my first time at the market. So much vegetarian food available!! I had vegan refried beans pita with falafel and my partner had beef noodles. I like the mix of people and food options for everyone.

Plenty of food stalls and lots of choices to choose from πŸ˜€ The place (food market) is open every Friday with lots of pop-up eateries/ food stalls. There are entertainers to entertain the public and when the weather is good, it is definitely a good place to be. There are different street food cuisines and everyone will (hopefully) find something that appeals to your palate. Family πŸ‘¨β€πŸ‘©β€πŸ‘§β€πŸ‘¦ friendly. No alcohol sales. I had Singapore πŸ‡ΈπŸ‡¬ chicken πŸ” rice 🍚 and it was delicious πŸ˜‹. The chilli 🌢 sauce gave a good flavour and it reminded me of the chicken πŸ” rice 🍚 in Malaysia πŸ‡²πŸ‡Ύ and Singapore πŸ‡ΈπŸ‡¬. I also had the pulut panggang (Grilled Glutinous Rice or 糯米虾米卷 in Chinese) which was nice and tasty. The downside is finding a place to sit and eat. You can sit on the benches but these seats are limited. Some of the food stalls have tables and chairs, but only for customers who buy food 🍲 from them. Would I go back? Yes but not every week. Food: ⭐⭐⭐⭐ out of 5. It was yummy πŸ˜‹. Ambience: ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ out of 5. Don't expect too much. Price: ⭐⭐⭐⭐ out of 5. Reasonable price for the dishes.

Zalabia was amazing :), so if you wanna eat an authentic and delicious Arabic sweet, it is the place to go. The owner is very friendly and super nice :).

Great start for Christchurch on Friday. We had the lovely chicken rice and ice cream that worth the trip. Best in the warm sunny day. More options might be better, 1 hr free parking will be really good to the market.

Plenty of variety of different foods from the many vendors at this street food market. Starts at 11am, but doesn't really get going until around 12noon. This is definitely the Friday place to be for eats in downtown so Christchurch.

Enjoyed all of it. A few more tables and chairs would be nice Also a bit more lighting would be great. Without the music it would've been alot less enjoyable.
