I had the chicken nibbles, beef salad and my friend had the tuna steak. The chicken nibbles were delicious, the meat fell off the bone and the flavour was amazing. The beef salad tasted good, a little on the simple side for the price. The salmon steak was average the sides were good. Other reviewers have talked about the service but I found the service good and attentive, we also did not have to wait long for the food to arrive. I would say the atmosphere and menu does leave you a little confused as to whether it is asian food or western food.
Overall I think this restaurant is worth more than its rating.

good service & food was nice. I tried this restaurant because the tuna stone grill steak looked good. it was OK just not outstanding. however chicken nibble was very good and sides were all very good. the service was very friendly and professional. this restaurant should be rated higher.

The restuarant is a clean, comfortable space, and the prices were reasonable. The menu allows you to either cook your own meat or to order dishes prepared completely by the chef in the kitchen. We opted for the prepared dishes and were thrilled with the results. My husband had the pork ribs and I had the risotto. Both were prepared perfectly, and we agreed that this was the best meal we've had dining out in our 2 previous weeks of travel around NZ and Australia. I highly recommend and would absolutely visit again!

We went in and the place was empty. We were a bit concerned by this.. we placed our order and the food was SUPERB. We were astounded! Why was this placd so empty?!!! Thoroughly recommend. I expect the place to be overrun when the word gets out. 5 stars 😊

Nous avons choisi ce restaurant dimanche dernier et ne l'avons pas regretté. Il était peut-être un peu tard (13h130?) et la salle était presque vide, mais nous avons été très bien accueillis. D'abord séduits par le lieu (le tramway vieux style passe tout près devant les baies vitrées), nous avons été très satisfaits de ce qui nous était servi. En particulier, moi qui ne suis pas un grand amateur de viande, j'ai choisi (un peu par erreur: je ne comprends pas très bien l'anglais) un plat servi sur une grosse pierre chaude et qui permet de cuir soit-même et à son goût le mouton et le boeuf servis avec. Ce fut excellent! Je m'en souviendrai!

Very surprising restaurant....looks Japanese staffed by Japanese chefs Japanese meals we had....fish and chips, risotto, pork ribs, spaghetti bolognese and all the excellent just not one expected....only Japanese I could find on the menu was Japanese wine at 52% alcohol content....maybe drinking that makes all the food look Japanese....excellent restaurant with great food and staff

We had a very enjoyable meal, we all were very happy with the service and the food I enjoyed experiencing cooking my steak on the stonegrill, my daughters Chicken Salad was yum and ample, son enjoyed his fish and chips tho he would've loved more chips ;-) my husband and youngest daughter enjoyed their pork spare ribs as well. With hotels close by this restaurant has many tourists choosing to dine here, what's most unfortunate is that they have no idea how to cook great NZ food such as lamb rack and salmon while charging top price for it. A shame if tourists think this is normal kiwi cuisine. I would advise against dining here but if you choose to, your best bet would be a stone grill however that's if you like cold sauces that have been sitting in the fridge for days, undressed salads and flavourless gratin.

Went with a big group. Food was below average . Some of the food was not edible and was sent back. Would not recommend ever going there.

Shame we only had one night stay, would've gone back to try something else. Ribeye on the hot stone is something to try. Friendly and quick service.
