Review Lighthouse Italian Bistro - Christchurch

Wow... this was a nice surprise. It didn't look like much from the outside but the food was excellent and very generous portions. Maybe I will skip the entree next time so I have room for dessert. We had been in Italy in May and I would rate the food here just as good as the best dishes we came across in Italy. We also liked was the fact we weren't charged extra for the corkage or the gluten free options. We will definately be back.

We went with friends. Unfortunately the menu was slightly limited after an incredibly busy weekend but the meals they served us were outstanding and so flavourful. The closest to authentic Italian food I've had outside Italy itself. Great food, terrific ambience, lovely and friendly owners. We'll be back 👍👍👍👍

I took my partner and friends there last night Everyone were SOOOOO pleased with their meal. The Angus Ribeye Steak in either a mushroom, or Brandy Peppercorn sauce (we had both) were amazing! The Cannelloni with spinach was so fresh and delicious!! The people that own this restaurant are so very nice and always appreciative of their customers

Been here twice already & will definitely be back again. The setting last week for Valentine's Day, was sweet and intimate. The valentine's menu added a touch from their regular menu. Im in love with their entrees & their pastas are sooo fresh it's amazing. Best little Italian restaurant in chch with having to pay top dollar 😊

The food is delicious, and the price is right. My mother in law has coeliac disease, so it is extremely important that her food is gluten free, and the chef really took her concerns seriously. We will definitely be back!

This little eatery is a Charming place for an appetising afternoon or evening meal. I think this is definitely a place which the locals should get behind and my experience there was close to fantastic. However, if I could give the management three ways in which it could sharpen up it would be in the areas of product availability, time performance and quality awareness. Firstly, we were very grateful and pleased that the bistro was open as it had been highly recommended to us. Yet, as our mouth watered we were repeatedly informed that several of it's star dishes were unavailable. I understand the silly season can be well silly but I was surprised given that these were drawcard items on their menu and one would assume that at the start of the trading day all essential ingredients would be available. Nevertheless, what really blew me away was your coffee which in my opinion easily matches other cafeterias in the zone. In that sense, you really are Italian so well done. Yet, we were a bit disappointed with the time management where we waited probably a tad longer than was necessary to receive two toasted sandwiches especially given that a toasted sandwich shouldn't take that long for a skilled chef to prepare. That said, mine was delicious and so was my mother's one although she later told me that one ingredient seemed to be missing which was a little disappointing given that we assumed that the order had been clearly Delivered. Perhaps my strongest piece of advice would be to ensure regular quality control checks of all your products. It might have been a problem with my own palate but I found the croutons in your salad less than palatable. It seemed as if the oil was funny and they were not (in my view) sweet and crispy as croutons should be. Being a typical Kiwi bloke, I flicked them to the corner of my plate but my foreign mum was quite disappointed. The salad WITHOUT the croutons would have been a zinger so I guess what I'm trying to say is less can sometimes be more. The service was good although upon first entering your establishment the waitress seemed almost startled and awestruck to see hominids in the building. Our seating was clean and comfy although none of the tables had been layed out for your early bird guests. A nice table with a neat table cloth and accessible condiments would have created a polished performance but perhaps I'm just being picky. I do believe in second chances and would like to attend your establishment again in the new year when your menu is replete with all the hallmark dishes which we cannot wait to sample. I hope New Brighton passionately gets behind your lovely eatery which adds to the culinary vibrance of the area.

Seems like authentic Italian food. Nice little place with very friendly staff. I'm just not much of a fan of very soft crust pizzas. I will go back for the other Italian food they serve rather than the pizzas.

I want to start by saying that the was the best Italian food I had in New Zealand and a great way to end our last meal on the trip. I truly appreciate the service by the chef and the hostess and definitely recommend anyone to visit this place if you crave for some good Italian food

Fantastic place! Went for lunch with my family and was very impressed. Had the steak sandwich from the new lunch menu and it was absolutely delicious. Great coffee and very friendly service. Will definitely be back!
