Fantastic local pub/tavern with great character and friendly owners. Definitely worth a stop if you're in need of a snack or beverage en route through Dargaville. Donise the owner was so nice and helpful and the food was superb. Get the genuine Texas-style BBQ! I'm from the states and it was top quality ;).
This is a good old Kiwi pub! It has heart, even though it needs a little redecorating, keeping the same ambience though.
The owners are lovely and the food very generous and tasty.

On a cold, wet and utterly miserable night we enjoyed a warm welcome and hot, tasty food at the Aratapu Tavern. Donice is always friendly, easy going and obliging and we have yet to have any food that does not come up to standard. If you want good home-cooked food without unnecessary fussing, reasonable prices and caring, personable service, Aratapu Tavern is your place.
Love love love this place! Food is fab and service has always been exceptional. We always make a habit to stop in when we travel to visit my parents in te kopuru
