One of our favourite restaurants we stumbled across accidentally.
Great ambience, rustic and funky.
Food consistently good with a varied menu.
I had the Mediterranean salad entree, which could have been a main. My main was duck leg confit with roasted vegetables, David the pate, which was the best we've ever tasted, a, so delicate and beautifully presented. His main, chicken breast and a mushroom sauce
Lovely wait staff. We will go back. Reasonable prices.
We went for a meal to the Gaslight for the first time on Sunday Night as a group of four. Luckily we booked as it got very busy. Service was awesome ( I am surprised the bad service reviews below), we couldn't fault it. There was only 2 bar and wait staff on, Patrick and 1 other. These guys were nearly running but never missed a beat, smiled all the way and were a great help with menu advise. Our meal was awesome, 2 of us had pasta, 1 steak frites and one Pork. And we had dessert. Two of our group live in Dunedin so have been before, we are from Chch and have not been to Gaslight before but we definitely will be back next time. Thanks to all it was a great meal. Tracey, Wayne. Brandon and Laura:):):)
One of the restaurants that I make sure we dine there whenever traveling to Dunedin but this time was a three course set menu for graduated students and their families.
The lamb was the most delicious amongst the 4 mains on the menu.
The desserts on the set menu were yummy too, so was the entrée.
Wow, such an awesome and delightful place to dine in.
The food is absolutely delicious and flavourful. And the lemon cheesecake was fabulous.
Staff were superb and friendly.
😊Gaslight is by far one of the best places I've been to. Definitely will have to revisit sometime in the future🤓🥳😋
Went here with family for dinner, wanted to try somewhere different and having browsed the menu online decided to go here. I thought the place was really nice, has an old style theme going with some nice displays of old equipment (cameras, radio etc) and some nice old photos. As for the food everyone really enjoyed their meals was the perfect amount so you left full but not bloated. At least the night we went even though there were a few people here it was not noisy so made it easy to to hear what each other said without having to raise your voice. Would be a good place to have an intimate dinner.
Great to find a restaurant open and able to dine at, as most closed by 8pm.(Sunday)
Delicious meals, the best service and the decor was interesting, having a historical sense. Radios, photography, lights.
The very nice restaurant to have a romantic dinner! The entree was excellent and the Boeuf was succulent. They have an excellent wine list. The service was outstanding. I highly recommend this restaurant.
Good meals and service.
Nice atmosphere for a pleasant evening out with friends.
Pricing is reasonable and the host eager friendly and eager to please.
Just need to be mindful and book ahead as it is popular so you will not be disappointed.
You can walk off the street and try your luck depending on the time of day.
The squid was too salty, but all the rest were good.
Really great find 2 minutes from our hotel. Love the setting of the place, super friendly welcome and service. We were all so happy with our meals and the cheesecake was delish! Would go back again when in Dunedin.
Great food. The girl that served us was really attentive and helpful. Food was top class. Just perfect
We have been here twice now, both have been great experiences. The lady with short hair, I assume the manager is so nice, polite, and always makes sure everything is perfect without it feeling like you are being hassled. Great atmosphere. Always clean and tidy. Bathrooms are nice. Food has always been to a high standard as well. Very rich but lovely. Will definately be returning in the future
