Underrated spot found! Good food. Uni-student hotspot. Amazing little touches on each dish (coffee with caramel popcorn, chips with many spices,etc) from such an inexpensive secret find. Service is fast even though its seemingly always busy/crowded.
Coffee is fine, but it’s a very busy place. Not surprised as it’s in the (free) museum and right next to the university. Staff seem to keep up for the most part but I can see how it would take a while if you ordered food, queue never seems to die.

All the aroma and people eating. Talk about free will and manifestation of consent eh??
None the less the combination of modern and traditional elements, along with a well-planned layout, creates a comfortable and visually appealing environment. One of the only places in Dunedin that has gluten free sandwich/ toastie at the counter- and delicious!
Also very yummy vegetable salads!
Great atmosphere and lovely staff. The menu was somewhat limiting if you want something savoury and don't like bagels. However the cheese scone we tried was nice, the coffee average, and the sweet items in the display case looked very inviting.
Second time having cheese rolls here and not disappointed!

The museum cafe has good coffee and great food at reasonable prices.
It is also in a good location being placed off to the side in the museum foyer.
My wife and I had a cappuccino, hot chocolate, bacon and egg pie, and a caramel slice. All of these were of good quality and brought to the table in the expected timeframe for a cafe as busy as it was.
It also has conveniently located toilets and quite comfortable seating.
Food is great at now that it's been taken over by precinct!
Large cafe with many people. It has quite a long line to order your food. Nice quick snack before/after the museum.
