Visited Al Sultan two days in a row for birthday lunch and late night shisha !! Had the best time of my life. Really admired the gesture when the entire staff came along singing and wishing me birthday 😄😍. One of the best authentic middle eastern restro and shisha place in Dunedin. Very vibrant environment for hanging out and really good ambience with a very loving and kind staff which makes it even better :)❤️❤️
A must go place for everyone. Highly recommended to try guys !!
It's rare to find true middle Eastern food here in Dunedin. You may talk about kebab houses but it is all mostly Turkish.
There are vegan and vegetarian friendly options here. The food is pretty good especially the hummus (it's pretty authentic). The portion size is pretty big as well
The reason why I rated a 4 star was because they have added heaps of garlic and it was overpowering

Fantastic food - fresh and delicious. Very reasonably priced - $23 for and entree and a main. The hummus was the best I’ve ever had in NZ. The service was friendly if a little slow. We will definitely return.
Really good service. Prices are fair and the menu is simple ‐ not overwhelming, yet good opportunity to try something different.
Nice seating options either in oaths, by the fire, or in the atrium with views out to Hanover/Filleul streets.
Only downside, was quite noisy with 2 different radio stations playing at the same time. Perhaps just the chefs choice of background music??
Beautiful food and the restaurant has a wonderful vibe! Would've taken a photo of my meal but it looked so good it didn't last long enough. Staff were polite and welcoming, and the service was quick and effortless! 5 stars across the board! Will definitely be coming back for more!
Fabulous authentic Arabic food . I am a chef who worked for years in the Middle East and I can guarantee the cooking is of a very high standard, everything is delicious, falafel hummus, babaganoush, tagines and shaslik were all top notch and the salads are amazing!! Lovely ambience and friendly staff. Best restaurant in Dunedin by far, highly recommended.
Fabulous food. Good service and great price. Really enjoyed tasting different plates by sharing them with our group. Wines a good price too.
