We loved our dinner at Chaahat...food was tasty & hot. We ordered Veg food.. Everything was perfect...service or food taste...

Love this place! Curry is great, naan bread nice and crispy and fresh. We sometimes get takeaway from here which is also of the same standard. The decor is a little dated but we actually like that- it’s quite charming and still clean so…. Give it whirl!

Have been here multiple times for takeaway and have never been disappointed. The curry sizes are standard but have good servings of meat. We've tried a few different curries but keep coming back to the medium spice butter chicken with a garlic naan. It's addictive, especially with the delicious charred edges giving that charcoal taste. The prices are reasonable and so far my order is always correct and made on time. Look forward to trying more dishes in the future.

THE BEST Indian takeaway I've had yet 🤤🤤🤤 Was recommended by a friend and was not disappointed, we got Butter chicken, the chicken was soft and tender and lots of it, and the lamb was moist and succulent and generous portions. This is our new go to for the best Indian dishes.

Totally loved our dinner at Chaahat last night. Service was excellent, food was amazing and shockingly well-priced! Plenty of vegetarian options. The restaurant was packed, but our food was beautifully prepared quite quickly. We were a group of 9, and nobody was kept waiting long. Kids loved the smoking brownie - but beware - the platter is terrifyingly hot. They will get burned if they accidentally touch it. The mango kulfi was a much safer bet - beautifully presented, and just like all the food - with an authentic taste of India.

Got it as takeout so was able to sit down at home and enjoy the delicious flavours. Great balance of hot 🔥 and creamy. Perfect size dish and at a wonderful price too for what we got! Was so surprised by the cheap cost yet it being even tastier than the expensive restuarants we frequent. Very good. Will definitely go back.

I’ve been coming here religiously for a few years now, usually making the most of the $12.99 takeaway mains they offer from Monday - Wednesday. The butter chicken is top tier! Throw in a couple of naan breads and you’ve got a hearty meal for 2. You can thank me later! Hamish Dorrington Kakapo Business Sales

Great value for money, very tasty curries, naan and rice. My wife had a chicken saagwala, I had a lamb Madras, and the others had butter chicken etc. Everyone was well pleased with their choices, and if you’re ordering a takeaway main on a Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday, then there is a special price which makes it great value too. Decor inside is comfortable and looks pretty authentic and inviting. Would definitely eat there again.

I've been to Chaahat on two separate occasions six moths apart with different family members. We thought the curries were fresh, fragrant and excellent. Butter chicken and steamy lamb firm favourites. Friendly staff and tasteful decor.

This place is so good! Please don’t use one container for two orders with rice. I get it’s a tiny bit bigger however it’s still not twice the size of the small one so there’s a lot less rice, meaning there is never enough for two people. 🙏🏽

One of the best Indian restaurant in Auckland. Been there last night with my family food was good, excellent service as well as they have good prices. Recommend to all.

Fantastic food....some of the best Indian I have ever had. Reasonable prices and generous portions . Felt like I had gone back in time to great value, food, and service . Thank you very much

Best curry in the area! Spices are cooked through so you can actually taste rather than have your mouth burnt. A little on the sweet side but perfect in every other way, not too much cream but a lovely thick sauce. Naan is so fresh, fluffy and light. You can BYO wine! Bonus! They were super busy and a little stressed but food came out super fast! Will be back again next week! Also arrives with Uber eats fresh and perfect! Thanks guys! 🙏💓

We've just ordered a takeaway from Chaahat. We were told 15 mins to collect. On arriving we waited closer to 50 min. We got home for family meal only to find 3 missing items. We phoned and asked if they could deliver but that would be another 50 mins so we went to collect. No apology. No offer of a discount for inconvenience. Pretty lamentable. I run a business and if we mess up (which can always happen) we make sure we make amends. To be fair the food was pretty good. but we won't be going to Chaahat again. because care of customer says a lot about the mindset.

Hi Guys it is very disappointing the way chachat has gone now, it used to be good place to eat but not now.Yesterday I ordered tandoori chicken for take away, when I reached there they served uncooked tandoori, after complaining they told to bring back which I took and again they served rubbish quality, most of the restaurant get failed when they stop serving quality.

There Manager seems to be very uncomfortable with returning of tandoori and hope they turn good in future and serve some quality food.

We used to go to Chaahut regularly as we live handy, but about a year ago it seemed to go downhill, so we gave up. But in fairness we thought let’s give them another go and went about a month ago.

Hurrah! A great experience and we felt pleased we had tried again. Until last night.

Got takeaways and they were just bland. The chicken Saagwala tasted like old spinach. No warmth or flavour, no freshness whatsoever. The lamb madras ordered medium was mild at best. Both garlic naans were burnt black on one side.

We emailed the restaurant last night with our disappointment. No reply as yet.

So we tried but sadly we will not ever go back now, seems it’s got worse not better.

Im a huge fan of this restaurant, but in the last two visits I have been very disappointed.
The butter chicken dish is always undercooked. The chicken was just chewy and not cooked well enough. There is definitely room for improvement, For customers to return the food needs to be cooked really well, especially the chicken. I just won’t be visiting again, waste of money sorry.

I ordered basic butter chicken and garlic naan bread by uber eats and look at the nann all burnt and butter chicken tasted like reheated food. Do not order a food from here

A simple impromptu dinner was all we were after. Lovely interiors & very warmly welcoming hosts. Loved the welcoming touch of being served Popadoms before we even looked at the menu. Our host recommended the Chicken takatak & being partial to king prawns we chose Prawns Masala. Roti & Freshly steaming hot rice arrived with our orders. Beautiful aroma of such excellent Basmati rice cooked to perfection was very impressive. The prawns masala was suberb, fresh aromatic, the masala was very tasteful & had just the right heat, the prawns were fresh, delightfully tender, juicy & perfectly done. This dish exceeded my expectations & is fully recommended to all. The Chicken Takatak was very nicely flavored & most succulent & had ample boneless chicken with a very uniquely cooked flavor. Not sure what takatak really means. Maybe we can enquire next visit. Definitely enjoyed the dishes & always a pleasure to be served so well. Compliments to the staff & Chefs for an excellent dinner. Ample parking outside, clean & tidy everywhere & well worth recommending to all.

Ordered 3 dishes (butter chicken, lamb biryani and goat curry) through Uber eats and was bitterly disappointed. Dishes were evidently not made fresh to order as they were “prepared” and picked up about 5 minutes after payment was made. The dishes were obviously pre made and were just microwaved upon order. Flavour was lack lustre at best and the meat to sauce ratio left me feeling like I had been robbed. The butter chicken had a strange tangy taste and the rice in the biryani had the texture of cooked plastic. Goat curry was the worst of the 3 with 3 small pieces of goat which were mostly bone. For over $60 I felt scammed and I will definitely not be ordering or recommending this establishment to anyone. In fact, I’m a hair away from contacting fair go lol

Awesome food. Nice service and staff. Everything Freshly prepared and cleanliness maintained. Reasonable prices and various options available for vegetarian and non vegetarian. Recommend to everyone.

We ordered tandoori chicken, chicken tikka masala, karahi chicken and butter naan.
I went by the few reviews but I am disappointed with the quality of food.
Tandoori chicken was just uncooked from inside, no proper marination and no real flavour.
Tikka masala was very mild and chicken pieces were not tender and juicy.
Karahi chicken to some extent was good but again the butter naan was again a big disappointment, just half cooked and flour smell was coming from it.
I don't want to be harsh but there is lot of scope for improvement, and may be because I have recently come from India so my taste buds are at a very high level.😁

Got a chewed chewing gum in the food served and on complaining, the staff did not even apologized and on cancelling order and leaving, they were rude.
Spoiled my birthday evening dinner.Would never recommend this place to anyone as you don't know what comes in ur served dish.
Very rude staff and bad service!

Went here by accident but glad we did. Food is amazing! Best Indian food I ever had!
Every dish was full of flavour. Will definatly be back!!

This place has absolutely stunning goat curry or lamb curry. Whatever you order you would not be disappointed and very friendly staff. Even though I mostly ordered from Uber eats they have always been polite on the call.

I literally waited two hours for it to open, looking at the clock and trust me the food is worth the wait.

Highly recommend it :D

Have been here for takeaways multiple times over the past 3-4 years and have never been disappointed. Even the butter chicken - a dish I normally avoid - is among the best curries I've eaten in Auckland.

I can't comment on the ambiance as I've only ever had their takeaways, but am a loyal customer!

Chahaat ..... How do you even pronounce this?
However it's pronounced, in Hindi it translates to, desire.

It's a cold, windy, rainy night in the 09, it's safe to say I had the chahaat for some Indian curry.

2x Complimentary poppadoms.
1x Onion Bhaji to follow
1x Lamb Korma
1x Chicken Fenugreek
1x Garlic Naan
1x Bottle of very reasonably priced Huntaway Reserve Merlot ($36)

The curries were moreish and warmed the cockles.
There's love in this food.

I wouldn't think twice about revisiting.
If you're in the area and need a good dose of Indian loving, come here and do the needful.

we ordered lamb biryani and seekh kebabs via Uber eats. the kebabs were so juicy and moist, totally yummilicious and the biryani was too good with fresh and soft melt in mouth pieces of lamb meat. definitely recommend this restaurant, better than the few other India restaurants in AKL.
Priyanka Champanerkar Nayak
Below average food. The chicken tikka was tasteless and dry. Paneer was hard as rock. Will never go again. When i gave my feedback to the manager, he didn't even acknowledge it or offer to make up for the unsatisfactory experience.

We order Chaahat on Uber eats and I love it. Best butter chicken around also love the saagwal and sizzle platter yum. Would highly recommend

This place is a great restaurant which is good value on the Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday nights. The decor is nice and also kept at a good temperature unlike some other Indian restaurants which can be too warm. The food is really good and would recommend the Lamb Saagwala and Chicken Madras or Lamb Bhuna

Been here a couple of times and was always impressed with the service, quality of food and hygiene. Would recommend a makhni panner. And for the price on monday tuesday and wednesday this place is a real contender.

We ate here on 01 May 17 and have dined several times before as it is a regular of some friends that we meet to dine with frequently. The furnishings and decor of the restaurant is probably as good as you will find in any Indian restaurant in Auckland. Be warned, the menu does not include beef as many others do, so you are restricted to lamb (also goat), chicken, fish or vegetarian selections. Service is usually slow and you have to catch the eye of the wait staff; tonight we had to ask for table water on two separate occasions (usually plenty of tap water is a given in an Indian restaurant). My wife had a lamb dish and I selected goat curry. The goat was OK but I felt the chef could have delivered a larger portion, given that much of the curry is bone rather than meat. So I came away less satisfied than I would have been with a boneless dish. My wife expressed that she was satisfied with her lamb dish. We had samosas for a shared entree and again felt they were smaller than usually experienced, however no fault with the flavour. The garlic Naan bread was also good. Note that medium spicy at this restaurant equates to mild in others we go to regularly. Prices are about average and they do offer $10 mains monday through wednesday each week (not including fish). To rate them higher I would like to see more attentive service plus an understanding that a dish with bones in needs to be a little more generous.
Vivek Katial
Been coming here for a while now. Get service and great food for a good price. Wouldn't say the best curry ever but for the price, quality and location it's a bargain.

The hara bara kebabs, achari chicken and seekh kebabs are especially good. 👌 👌 👍

Went to this place on 12 april.. we were in mood for indo-chinese and ordered veg manchow soup, gobi manchurian, chicken garlic, chicken taka tak and vegetable noodles. Somehow , when ordering my wife felt that the waiter was giving us hints not to order the veg noodles --- should have listened to him. The noodles were pathetic. I reckon the garlic is cheap these days as everythjng reeked of raw garlic. The soup was like garlic stew with noodles thrown in them -- didnt touch after having 1 taste. What can i say about garlic chicken.. chicken in curry topped with crushed garlic.. the saving grace was gobi manchurian-- we've had it before and thats the reason we went there this time. I complained about the soup at the table and the waiter said they will not charge us for that.. when i went to pay,, the soup was on the bill and i paid and didnt say anything. However on the way back home,, i realised that they had overcharged me for the chicken takatak curry( 11$ curry night) . So i drove back and talked to manager and he said its not mistake and indo- chinese items are full price. I mentioned that chkn takatak is a normal curry so should be 11$. Finally got my 5$ back.. NEVER going back there.

Totally awesome food! Great decor & nice clean facilities (completely unlike other Indian restaurants). The staff are courteous, adaptable quickly to changing orders & pay attention to customers requirements. Nice family ambiance & will surely go again. Well done guys! Keep the quality up & we'll keep coming back!!

We really liked the food here and went over a lot for takeaway. But then their stadards started to slip so we stopped for about a year. Thought we try again and went back recently. They seems to be back to their original self, food was nice and service was good.

I've passed by this place so many times as its close to work and home, and it looks SO unassuming but I was pleasantly surprised when I came here for dinner on Monday night. The staff were friendly and very patient with our big group, and the wait for the food was reasonable. My fenugreek chicken was AMAZING and the portion sizes were very reasonable for the price. The restaurant isn't fancy but it's well presented and very comfortable to dine in. Of course there's always extra points if the waiter comes over and asks us how our meals are going and if we need anything else, which they did! I went with a group of Indian friends and they were also pleased with their dining experience which was a good sign. This is definitely a great local restaurant for a casual lunch or dinner.

Loved the service and the food. Tried the chicken tikka masala and tawa chicken. It was good value for money! The quantity seemed less but we were two people and were full at the end of the meal

Rude service and bad food..high priced as well...only good thing is parking...best to ignore this place not going there at all and wont recommend at all..

Ordered one Mango Chicken and one Cheese Naan for only $ 14.89 in total with Monday to Wednesday special dinner deal. Chicken was very juicy and tasty. Staff were friendly.

If you have successfully found this place it is like you have won the treasure hunt. Great place if you want nobody to come between you and your food. Food is serene and the ambiance is all that you wished for. Have that quality time with your food. Taste is good. If you are here to look for their best dishes, they are garlic naan, chicken tikka, paneer methi malai, raita and some other dishes too. If you are a fan of Indian cuisine, you will surely love this place and best of luck if you can find it in first try...😅😜

Went there on saturday night; the place was almost full but the staff were attentive and friendly. We were seated promptly and served papadums. We ordered the prawn pakora, chicken takatak, chicken vindaloo, and plain as well as garlic naan. The prawns arrived quickly, they were fresh and the side sauce delicious. The waiter collected our plates and asked if we were ready for mains, to which we said yes and within 5 minutes we had our mains. The takatak was very yum and the vindaloo was different in a good way- both quantities were big (especially that indian food is heavy) and we did not finish them. The naan was good- not chewy- and the garlic naan was not overpowering. Would dine there again and recommend to friends.

The best curries ever!! So flavoursome! Their medium spice is just right.

Please do me a favour and order their onion baiji chippies, best ever.

It is always super busy here and they have $13.50 mains including rice and they are big portions!

Really terrible experience this almost killed me by serving food with staple pin inside it. When the restaurant authorities were confronted about this issue then they just said will get it checked. Like seriously? its about someone's life? Please think twice before going to this place if you like to live your life.

ordered food a couple of times to have delivered, food has always been hot temperature and friendly service.I like how they make their Chicken Korma
Suchita92
. I used to order regularly and initially they deliver on time and then as you become a regular customer they start delaying your order. Absolutely no curtesy to inform you on delays. They take you for granted. I ordered at 8.20 PM. They said delivered in 40 min. It's now 9.35. Still have got no food delivered. Called twice and both time said it will come in 10 min. This has happened second time now. Absolutely no sense of responsibility and shamefully they lie on your face.
I will never order again.

I placed a takeaway order lastnight for med Handi meat and butter naan. Was told will take 15-20mins. I got there 20 mins after placing the order n had to wait another 15 mins. Main was HOT not medium Green chillies everywhere. Butter naan was not buttered. Very disappointed. Will not return

Hidden restaurant in Epsom. Literally! In spite of living around for some time now I have never heard anything about this place. We wanted to have indo Chinese chicken noodles and trust not that many Indian restaurants offer that. That's when I found this little gem.
So after doing chicken noodles (indo Chinese ) for few times we decided to dine in. The wait staff was very welcoming and after we were seated within minutes we were offered water and pappad. Now we went back to our tried and tested dish. Chicken noodles and Chilli chicken. Both indo Chinese version. It was great. Good flavour. Fresh feeling and very satisfying. Good portion for two.
Ambience is good too. The place was half full on a Tuesday evening and heaps of take aways. So it's popular.
If indo Chinese chicken noodles is new to you try it out.
Will be back

Amazing! Can't recommend this place more! They were packed with people but placed us in the corner. The food was amazing and service was great. The staff were so attentive and polite.
I recommend the garlic naan.
Will be going back some time soon

Went in with a big group for a celebration dinner a month ago. Loved the ambience and the food was delicious only thing that I was disappointed with was the gulab jamun which was canned and heated and served with syrup. With so many different Indian sweets places around Auckland I would have thought they get some fresh Indian sweets in. Other then that everything was perfect.

Had a graduation dinner here, booked for 15ppl but showed up with 22. Staff were very friendly and accommodating, as we also all wanted to sit together in a long table. All guests were very pleased with their different meal choices. Did not regret trying something new! Lovely ambience, great hospitality and good prices! We will be making Chahaat a regular- especially with $10 main specials Monday-Wednesday :):):)

Finally we have found an Indian resturant in Auckland that understands Ambience. - was about to give up hope! Lovely food, friendly and attentive staff and very good prices. Bring your own wine if you like and try the onion bhaji and lamb sagawalla main. Love this place and will not be looking for another local.

We were a big group, about 15-20 of us, celebrating our friends birthday on a weekday night. The restaurant was pretty empty. Ordered a jack daniels with coke, a wine (Gewurztraminer), Chicken Handi, Goat Curry and Garlic Naans. The JD-Coke came at room temperature which made the Coke feel flat. Had to wait for 10 mins before they got us some ice. The wine was brilliant - better than I had expected. Our curries came a good 10-15 mins before our Garlic Naans came. & when they arrived, they were cold, dry and hard. Taste of the food was decent. Not the best, but not the worst either. A friend ordered the Gobi Manchurian and that was absolutely brilliant!

Hope these guys up their service standards.

Friendly and great service. Food was good with just about right portion. All family members enjoyed the whole experience. Mon to Wed deal is excellent.

We had a couple of really nice dishes takeaway from Chaahat last night. We ordered online and the first order has 10% off, which makes it better value, plus $10 per dish a few nights during the week. We ordered the typical Kiwi Indian dishes, butter chicken and a similar vege dish along with a few accompaniments such as naan, and onion bhaji which came with a good portion. The Garlic Chicken dish is excellent and don't forget to add some starters such as samosas (delish) and poppadoms. The rice was also nice and fluffy. This restaurant was busy in takeaway orders, along with dining in, and seems very popular with the locals.

The best Indian food in Auckland! I'm disappointed that their ratings are so low as they definitely deserve so much more. My family has been dining here for 3 years now and there was never a time we were disappointed. Every guest that I bring offers the same compliment. The food is always amazing, price is very affordable and the service is outstanding. Most dining places tend to slide down the scale after some time, but not these guys. Coming from Malaysia, we have quite strong taste buds and find most Indian restaurants here use way too much sugar in their curries and tend to tone things down to suit the local palates. Hence we appreciate their generous use of spices which makes every dish different and flavorful (not just sickeningly sweet). We were there just last night and my 11 year old son was telling me how he couldn't stop eating although he was really full. He said not to waste good food and scraped every bit of the gravy! Definitely says a lot when your children lick their plates clean! Consistent, excellence, efficient and quality... I cannot stop raving! Keep it up, team Chaahat!

The service was great as usual at this place. The food was avergage though. Howevwr in the past I have found the food here to be extremely good. Will be back

We have eaten here many times often with few people at an early hour wandering if we have found a little known gem.

Being here at 8pm on a Saturday I now realise that a lot of people know of the good quality Indian cuisine served with a smile. The food is consistent service usually attentive and 3.5 stars from me. Recommended.
Rob
Been going here for 5 years. Food is great. Service was fantastic, then ok, now just very average. Decided last visit a month ago it is time to find a new Indian. The staff ignored us and stood behind the counter and avoided eye contact.

Plenty of indian to choose from.
The people who have left bad reviews of this great restaurant are the kind of people you cannot please. They probably get their kicks out of being critical and think that makes them important. If the waiter was ever rude then the customer must have been as well. I brought my Indian husband to this restaurant and he thinks it is very good. It is very child friendly and I only see happy faces. The furniture which must have cost a bomb is absolutely beautiful .. black lacquered with gold designs and glass tops it by far exceeds any investment I have ever seen put into other restaurants and that tells me these people are serious about their business. The fact that it is BYO and they have such a wonderful deal on Mondays to Wednesdays makes dining affordable for families which is uncommon these days.
Alecia Browne
Our second visit and both times we have enjoyed the food and it's reasonably price. The service is exceptional. The restaurant and atmosphere is great. Worth the visit.
Jan
Quite possibly the best Indian meal I have had in a very long time. The food was delicious, very reasonably priced and the service was exceptional. The Lamb Korma was very tender and with just right amount of spice. Our Lemon, Lime and Bitters drinks were made in the bar, not poured from the bottle. Very, very nice!
Hrilina Sabharwal
Food was too salty, couldn't eat it and unfortunately was a takeaway.
Joanna Shanks
I'm not an Indian food expert but everything we had was delicious. The waiter's suggestion of 'kiwi hot' was perfect. The best part of our visit though was it's service. The waiters were so friendly and polite and we will definitely go back.
Salesh N
I dined there yesterday with my family. We ordered:
Malai Kiofta (Indian Hot) - delicious! could have been a bit more spicy
Bombay Aaloo (Mild - for our son) - great dish for kids. low on spice and high on flavour.
Lamb biryanai - we were stuffed bythe time we got to this but never th eless tasted good (different taste to hyderabadi biryani). This contains mint.
Butter Naan - fresh, soft and buttery = excellent!!
Rice - they charge $2 per person. This should be complementary I reckon.
Mango Kulfi - a good desert, worth a try.
Lemon lime and bitters - mixed on order, not the bottle one.
Masala Tea - avereage.

We dined in a group of 6 of us on a Wednesday night. The restaurant was fairly quiet apart from us. We all picked a different curry, had a few different entrée’s as well. Food portion was a little on the small side, but combined with the other dishes in an our group there was plenty to go round.

I checked their web site prior to going, and found several curries that were not on the menu in the restaurant. When I asked if I could have one of those instead they happily made it for me.

Overall, we all enjoyed our dishes, only just enough for a small lunch for one person was left.

The staff were friendly.
Pauline Bennett
Four of us were here for dinner tonight (Wed 8th May) and had a good experience. We ordered a variety of entrees and mains and were all happy with the flavours and portion sizes. The staff were friendly and as a bonus we discovered when paying the bill that the mains were only $10 on Mon, Tues and Weds.
I didnt eat all of my main meal and it was parcelled up for me and they even included a portion of rice with it so I had a complete meal to take home. Parking was outside the door, but there is plenty of parking on the surrounding streets.
Monica
Went for dinner, ordered the butter chicken, and pakoras for entree, food was pretty good but nothing stand out for Indian, decent enough prices and didn't have to wait long for food which was good. Staff were friendly when we walked in however one waiter seemed a bit incompetent. I would go there again for their lunch special but probably not for dinner.
Belinda
We have been a regular customer here for some time, both takeaways and dining. Always really nice, tasty and spicy food. On our last visit we ordered a combination of food that is one of our regular orders. Everything was different, very sweet and bland. Are there new owners or a new cook??? Very disappointed.
Ali
This has to be our favourite Indian restaurant in Auckland. We are always greeted with a warm welcome when we arrive and the food always hits the spot. The depth of flavour to each dish definitely beats other places we have tried. If you are looking for well priced; delicious Indian cuisine then I would highly recommend you try Chaahat.

I have been to Chaahat a few times since it opened. I have had a great experience each time. The food is delicious. I have eaten Indian food in England and India and Chaahat's food compares very well.
I recommend that you phone ahead with your booking, then sit back and enjoy the food and the decor.
Iain Bremner
Thank you, Rajini, our waitress, for good service. You were very attentive to ensuring we enjoyed our meal, and showed good humour! Complimentary Poppodoms were soon delivered to our table on our arrival. Helpful recommendations were made about complementary dishes for the table. The dishes were plentiful and good value. The rice unfortunately was not very hot. Notwithstanding this, we shall return.
Vin
The food was what you would expect from a typical Indian restaurant. However it was the service which was the major letdown. When the waiters phone starts ringing out loud as he is bringing drinks you know their standards can't be very good! Overall I would not recommend going here!
Rob L.
I dropped into this restaurant with a friend who lives in the area. He recommended the food, which he normally orders for pick up. We were both surprised at the poor service, which immediately put us off our meals. The waiter was dismissive and rude. It was no surprise the place was nearly empty.

We both ordered a main each with a side to share. We enjoyed the food but the overall experience was let down by the service. I would not go back to this restaurant.
Roger Swift
The restaurant has very nice decor and the food is very good.
We were a table of 4 and we had an appetizer, a main course, and dessert plus tea and it was only $35/head.
The staff were very pleasant.
We all enjoyed the food and the atmosphere and we would go back again.

Last nite our family visited Chaahat for the first time it was my Dads birthday, my dads friend told us about the place.

It was almost full on a Sunday nite HELLO!!

And we were about to leave but were approached by the staff and said if we wanted a table we might have to wait for a while and it was worth a wait, it was nice and warm inside, the furniture was amazing looks like custom made from India?

Lets get to the best part FOOOOOOOOOOOD, First we were given complimentary poppadoms and then we had Paneer Chilly Bombay style beautiful spicy the way we wanted and Malai Tikka just melted in the mouth just amazing, for mains we had Chicken Tikka Masala, Lamb Kadhi, Mushroom Masala all medium to hot and the beautiful Garlic Naans with Raita, mixed pickles and they gave us complimentary onion salad just like you get that in India......

The service was very good as well.

Over all experience was great, Thanks Ian and Sharon for the recommendation and thanks to the team at Chaahat keep up the good work. And we will be back soon.

This restaurant has a rating of five stars, I wonder why? The food we had was abysmal. We ordered a tandoori platter and the moment it arrived on our table we knew there was something awfully wrong.
The presentation, the taste, the freshness of the meat was as bad as it gets.

We eat a lot of Indian food and have never come across such a bad experience in Auckland. We chose Chaahat from these reviews and thought it pertinent to warn others - don't go there!

The service was fine, and perhaps the curries are also fine but we were not inclined to try our luck (or waste our money). The starter should be an indication of the standard to come, and due to this we left. We didn't want to cause too much fuss, so left peacefully but did advise the hosts. This however did not warrant any refund of the meal - something we expected out of due respect.

Have never sat in and dined - just been a loyal takeaway customer. Very good standard of food and cleanliness. They do excellent vegetarian dishes as well.
