Review Espresso Owens Road - Epsom

Fantastic cafe which is always buzzing. Great coffee, great service, and the owners are super friendly. At $7.90 my iced latte was about $1 overpriced but I’ll let it slide just because they’re one of my longstanding locals! Hamish Dorrington Kakapo Business Sales

Great little cafe, very busy for lunch when I was there but the staff were friendly and the service was quick. Food was delicious, a little gem.

Excellent owners, great coffee and food.

Love this place staff are all so friendly they know my order before I even go In get at least 2 coffees a day here. Nice location friendly vibe and good for client meetings too.

It’s been my daily coffee takeout place for a couple of months now. Great coffee and friendly staff.

Had brunch there. Owners amazing and friendly. Food delicious. A must for a coffee if you are in the area

Breakfast with 5 other work colleagues. Great coffee. Most of us had eggs Benedict and the bacon was excellent. One of our group had the big brekkie and he was not disappointed. A busy Cafe is a good thing, constant flow of customers grabbing a coffee ☕

Coffee is SO GOOD! Staff are really friendly and I get a high self worth vibe coming off every one which makes me feel uplifted. Food is expensive but that's to be expected, and there are muffins and some cabinet items in the more affordable range. Large coffee is just over $5, I think $5.50? I'll be back!

Nice little space with outdoor seating roadside. Coffee was really nice and they have a lovely cabinet selection plus menu to order.

I went on just wanted a take away coffee, instead i had a full happy belly, the flat white coffee was good, and breakfast bruschetta is really surprisingly tasty. Nice little cafe that i’d come back again for another brunch!!

Whilst visiting the area stumbled upon this pleasant cafe. Busy Saturday morning vibe. Great coffee, quick service and the date and orange scone to die for 🤗

I’ve been visiting this place for years and it has some of the best coffee I’ve ever tasted. I don’t come as often now as I’ve moved farther away, but when I do visit, the awesome staff and owners remember not only my name, but my coffee order. It’s things like that which make a place special.
I’ve tried most things in the menu over the years but special mention goes to the phenomenal pancakes and the chicken & artichoke toastie. The decor hasn’t changed since I’ve been coming, and aside from some of the dishes, it’s not terribly instagrammable (if that’s your motivation) but I love this place and it’s people. Even the kitchen staff (who have been with the company for years) often call out a cheery goodbye if they notice you leaving. I love it!

Friendly staff, quick service. Ordered 3 takeaway coffees and an assortment of mini cakes and pastries.
Coffee was good, assortment of cakes and pastries (passion cake, lemon dream, brownie, almond croissant, carrot cake) very average. The nicest (and freshest) was the mini carrot cake. See picture....3 small coffees and 8 small cakes...$70!!
I did have a big breakfast here about 4 years ago...again average.

I go to this place when I get my car wash done at Rub-a-dub. There's no wow-factor here but at the same time there's nothing bad either. Would love to see some new stuff

Tried the Smoked Salmon bruschetta and it was amazing !!! Esp the smoked salmon 😍 I’ve been recreating this simple yet elegant dish and all the salmon I’ve tried isn’t close to Espressos. Service is great ! Very friendly employees and making sure you are attended to at all times. Also enjoyed my pot of peppermint tea was brewed to perfection. This place is amazing

Went for breakfast, morning tea, and lunch.
Got the berry pancakes and French toast. Both tasted extremely sweet. Pancakes were the perfect texture, not too fluffy or dense. The French toast had great syrup added to it. The addition of the fruit really helped in making the flavours work well together. For lunch, we got a club sandwich and biscotti. Club sandwich was a bit salty but was all right for the price of $3. It was my first time trying the biscotti and it tasted great. Would come again to try their other cabinet desserts.

This was a great chance find. We were staying at Newmarket Motel just up the road and needed somewhere for breakfast. This definitely fitted the bill. We had breakfast both mornings here. We were a group of eight and they had no problem with seating us and no delay in the food. Two of us had cabinet food and the rest ordered off the menu. Everything was really good and the coffee was great Staff were really friendly - to the extent of moving tables around for us so we could sit together. Really happy with everything here.

Absolutely terrible experience, ordered a flat white that burned my tongue off! Asked the barista to give me some cold milk to cool it down but the man started arguing with me about the normal temperatures of milk. I have been a barista for many years, that milk was definitely not under 70 degrees! The man was very rude and defensive, I asked him to feel it and he said if I wanted a normal temperature milk I would need to ask for it! He stood in front of me defending his terrible cup of coffee. Later it was remade and although temperature is still not right, atleast it didn’t burn my tongue off. The man was just so rude I have never met anyone so rude like him, it really ruined my day.

Have any of you foodies notice a little cafe on the corner of busy Manukau/Owens roads, selling cafe snacks.
You may have driven/walk past them or waited at the busy intersection outside untold times and not notice them there, unless yer a local like me/us. Nicely made coffee brewed there too.

Came here during their peak hours.
The lady at the counter was so friendly! Instantly felt welcomed!
I ordered their salmon on bagels (they have a name for it but I can't remember!) with avocado, rocket and oil dressing. Was really nicely seasoned! Salmon was fresh, the bagels were crispy and avocados were nice and creamy. I also ordered their berry and banana smoothie, which was very nice and refreshing!
My friend ordered the Moroccan Lamb salad, which looked really good as well!
Prices are also really decent for their portion and quality, would definitely come here again!

Always wanted to try out this cafe, it always looks very busy (maybe this is the only cafe in this area?) Ordered a latte to go but didn't order any cabinet food cos they look very boring and dry...... The coffee was very disappointing ... Taste like espresso coffee with a very hot cup of milk.....

This is a little gem in the area and it has been serving us well for Sunday brunch for many years. This place seems to have changed owners in the past few years, but the dishes from the kitchen and the coffees are still as good as always.
Would recomend the lemon soufflés pancakes, they are not the ready made pancakes from supermarket like some of the other cafes. It is so fluffy and the taste is very balanced and not too sweet.

I really enjoy this place. The most important thing is the consistency - while the food is not 'groundbreaking' it is always fresh and very well-cooked (their scrambled eggs for example!) and their service is fantastic. They are somewhat fortunate to not have much competition in the area, but the owner and staff members make a real effort to get to know everyone, which pays off with repeat custom. Owner and female chef make some of the best coffee in Auckland.

I went to Espresso with a friend and I ordered a raspberry and white chocolate muffin and a small hot chocolate whilst my friend ordered a brownie and a mocha. The food was yum and the drink was nice as well although it was really cramped since we went during the morning. The staff was nice and there was a lot of variety of food to choose from the cabinets but I rather that you head into the cafe at a less busier time. Good brekkie after all.

It interests me that so many people dislike this cafe. I eat out at a lot of cafe's and I know what good, great and terrible food and coffee is like. I know that this cafe doesn't have 'blow your mind' food but i thought it was nice and certainly would (and do) go back. Their baking is very nice. I can recommend the coconut, raspberry loaf especially if its heated. Also the carrot cake is yummy! (but if your not a fan of icing you may not like)
I've also been there for breakfast their bagels are good even though its simple I have had bad bagels before! Also their muesli is fab is you want a healthier breakfast.
I think their coffees are good and their banana smoothies are to die for especially if you ask for it to be extra banana-ery!

I think this is a cute friendly cafe to go to if your not looking for top class breakfast/snack. It's always bustling with people so get in early!! :)

Have been to this cafe many times. Coffee is great but the food is very average. Now I will never go again. Ordered a cooked breakfast and a three shot coffee on my credit card as did not have cash. 5 minutes later a staff member came over and told me she did not charge me for the extra shot of coffee and if I wanted it I would have to pay an extra 50 cents. Was I supposed to make another credit card transaction for the 50 cents???

My local though I don't always go because I don't work nearby. I go on weekends as I live near by and I feel they have the best coffee around. I usually only go for Allpress but the quality of the barristers vary from cafe to cafe. I've never had a bad coffee here.

My father always says the coffee is the best in Auckland. The food is alright but not the best. The hot chocolate isn't the best either. I haven't tried the coffee but very nice supposedly. Good service.

Would go back there but if you are looking for amazing food go to Olafs in Mt Eden, Auckland.

Excellent coffee and reasonably priced! Staff are friendly and parking available not far away.

Their date scones are also very nice but haven't tried any of their other food.

A regular place for me to get my takeout coffees!

This is my favourite cafe in Epsom for Breakfast, brunch or lunch. the coffee is very good and the food is delicious.
My favourite is the corn fritters which are stacked with rocket leaves and topped with a fresh tomato salsa, they melt in your mouth.
I also like the fresh toasties which have different fillings and creamy swiss cheese. My husbands favourite is Huevos de Ranchos which consists of potatoes, spicy cabanosi sausage, chopped tomatoes and 2 fried eggs. He orders it for brunch every time he goes there.
The staff are always welcoming and efficient and I would recommend it for a quick and tasty brunch or lunch.

Hi there, first of all I just want to say that this cafe got some few nice characters despite small space. coffee is great and always generous(slightly cheaper but way good quality),
sandwiches are very genuine(can't find this kind of generous sandwiches fillings around newmarket/epsom).
This cafe is dominating by coffee but food is highly recommended, especially high quality of specials on the board...we don't wanna go to cafe for heavy, unusual foods, right? this cafe is small but got every tastes and qualities(simple but very good)...so check it out

Great coffee and love the berry smoothies (although I was very disappointed when they made them smaller for the same price!). The food is generally good but the menu has stayed the same since the old owners sold it so am a bit bored of it... but thats maybe just because I go there far too often!

While I like the coffee at Espresso I have to say their food is not always the best, considering their prices. I have been a regular customer, but today I ordered a sandwich which looked good but the bread was quite obviously stale. On closer inspection I found a highly processed cheese slice in it. Ugh! I was appalled, so returned it and even though it was exchanged for something else I was disappointed in their response. I did not get a sincere apology, just some excuse about it having been uncovered in the cold cabinet therefore the bread had dried out. I had thought they could do better than that! :(

Not a big coffee drinker but do enjoy their chai lattes. One of the best I have ever had, very smooth and creamy. Great food on menu and in cabinet, with gluten free and vegetarian options!
Will be visiting again.

I have been a regular customer for quite a while. They had (6 months ago) the best berry smoothies I could find and the staff where friendly enough until recently. Now day's there food is average, they have a couple of unprofessional and under-trained fools working for them, they are way too busy to be comfortable and on one particular day a member of staff shows a complete lack of regard to fairness by giving his girlfriend the berry smoothie I had been patiently waiting for. The situation only deteriorates from here as I am given a banana berry smoothie not the berry one I had ordered and fully paid for. I never got an apology! Oh well they lose a client!
PS: David, there is a grammatical error in the first line of your job add; Is should be are.

interesting, other reviews are very well divided! Personally, the few times I've been, David (the awesome barrister) made my coffee, so yeah the coffee was fab. And he seems friendly enough. The wait staff are so so, you get the odd smile adorning person who does his or her job. Food is well, similarly priced to other cafes but not nearly as nice.

I am a regular customer at this little local spot. Coffee is consistently good if not one of the best. They change their blends of coffee/origins on regular bases. So I get to experience all sorts of different flavours.
Most of their food are made on site, so I believed. Nothing too out of ordinary, but all done reasonably well with lots of care.
Very busy but warming little places most of the time, in fact, sometimes just a bit too busy for a regular like me who like to take time to enjoy my cuppa. ^_^
