The singaporean fried noodles was fantastic; I'd order it again. The chicken dish was average.. lots of small bones I kept biting into bone fragments. The dumplings were delicious. I also recommend the beef stir fried noodles but would suggest to request for less oil as the dish can be very oily.

I recently dined at an astonishing restaurant that left a lasting impression. The ambiance was charming, and the highlight was undoubtedly the amazing fish soup. The Spicy Palace Bucket Fish is their specialty and is available in either spicy or herbal(non-spicy) soup. We ordered the herbal(non-spicy) fish bucket which came boiling hot & was amazingly delicious! The soup base made of lots of herbs and ingredients that took them hours to prepare in advance. There are organic stone pebbles that are imported from China that release natural minerals to the food. These stones are preheated then added to the wooden bucket before the soup base and the fish is poured into the bucket. The stones will continue to heat the dish for another 10 mins before the dish is ready to be served. It is a very big serving and enough for 3-4 people. The price is very reasonable given that they use Blue Cod. Amazing dish and unique & iconic to Auckland. Must try!

The must have Bucket fish was very good. Freshly cooked at your table and the fish was very fresh. All the other dishes were great as well.

Generous portion size meals. Very flavorful meals. Best Chinese I've had in while. If I lived in Auckland I would be a regular.

We were suggested to go here by a Chinese friend. Was relatively empty for a weekend but afternoon. We chose from the lunch menu, had a good selection or rice & noodle dishes and was very reasonably priced. The full menu also looked really good. We ordered spicy bean and rice and kungbao chicken. Both were good with strong Sichuan pepper flavours. Service was fast and staff was nice.

I think it is a very good place for food and feels like home if you are done with chips and steaks for now

Love it as usual for lunch while at work, speedy with the order, and A++ for flavour, I usually like the cumin beef and the boys are in for the kung pao!

Spicy Palace was a surprisingly unassuming place with absolutely yummy food. We ordered two dishes - the Bucket Fried Rice and Chef Special Pork Ribs. Both of them were delicious (the meat was just falling off the bone) and the portions were substantial too. Unfortunately, the only picture I have of it doesn't do it justice. A very lucky find!

One of the best Chinese meals I ever had. Yes, their inhouse fish soup is the best along with their cumin lamb. Staff was attentive even though the restaurant was full when we visited. This gives us a delightful reason for us to visit Auckland again :)

My son always tries beef noodles at every restaurant. He says there are the best beef noodle here. The flavor and noodle texture is even better than some specialized noodle shops.

The okra salad was a bit bland while the lotus roots stuffed with sticky rice was a mildly sweet dessert- something different. Will return and try other dishes on the menu. Parking is on the roadside only.

The smell of insecticidal water in the hall was strong. <br/>Bucket fish was not fresh and chef special pork ribs were stale. I won’t never come back again and don’t recommend to others.

Spicy deep fried chicken is great, fried rice is also good. And the design/display of the pork with cucumber is interesting.

Hit and miss. Tasted okay, but nothing special. The spicy chicken had too much bones in it. The tea was luke warm.

All three of the family got sick and had sore throats and headaches after having their food. Could be hygiene issue or could be the amount of salt/msg used. The service is not good either, seem to care so much more on their cellphone than on the customers.

Ordered for takeway- first time tryin out this place. The portion was massive for $12. Flavour wise it was suitable for me- not too numbing or salty unlike some other dishes elsewhere. Keen to come back to try their noodles!

It was our first time here for dinner and it didnt disappoint! Dishes are full of flavour and big portion. We had braised beef brisket with beancurd and spicy stir fry chicken soft bone with cumin, beef was very tender and juicy.

First time there for a weekday lunch. Great selection of lunch specials ($12), many other choices of dishes too. Clean place, reasonably fast service. The Kung Pao chicken and MaPo tofu are very good. Will return again.

We had the lamb cumin and hot stone beef and both dishes were absolutely delicious! It was surprisingly busy for a Sunday night but they were happy to set us up a table outside where it was quite. Good service and large portions. I will go again! 👍

Close to home. Fast service. Friendly staff. Good food. Portion sizes are pretty good too. What more can you ask for. Prawns with oat is a favourite!

All three dishes we had were super delicious! I love this restaurant! The staffs were attentive, the food arrive fast after order and all of them are so tasty. We will definitely return again.

I have been here twice and I always order bucket fish and bucket rice. The bucket fish soup was really tasty with tomato slices and cucumber slices. It's a worth mentioning that the stir fired tofu with mushroom has perfect texture and so tender inside. Lovely spicy restaurant is recommended.

The only nice szichuan style restaurant in epsom. Wooden pot fish is quite nice and special, crayfish is fresh and taste. All other dishes are nice as well. Staffs are friendly and helpful.

Every time I eat here I get the spicy scampi. So good and so spicy. <br/>They have quite a few delicious dishes actually, hard to go through them all. Chicken soup also very flavoured but probably full of msg.<br/>I would probably only go for the dishes that are spicy because the rest seems average. <br/>In absolutely no way is dining here a healthy option; but for a tasty treat once in a while it’s a good choice.

It's our first time here at Spicy Palace for its northern Chinese cuisine. We, 4 of us, ordered a dish of Shouzhou salted chicken, duck feet with wasabi sauce, sauteed pork with chili, stir-fried lamb with cumin, & a small bowl of Chongqing Dan Dan noodles. While we were waiting, we saw a lot of tables have the bucket fish & the bucket rice, which must be popular with the frequent customers. Our lamb & pork dishes were dry & rather tough; the chicken had broken bones here & there - definitely not served properly. The food is great , and fresh . On thing I can say this place, you order different meal will come with different styles, not like other Chinese restaurants , almost same style no matter what meal you order .

Been here twice. Had the sweet and sour pork and also the flat noodles with beef. The sweet and sour pork taste was alright, but the outside is not crunchy enough. The flat noodle with beef was what you would expect, it didnt have any excitement in the flavour and gets boring half way. Nice quantity though for $12 lunch special.

This is place is good in terms of ambiance, three of us roaming around this area for some good food..i ve looked at this place in zoomato , the people and service are awesome , no complaints.. this place was so busy on Saturday.<br/>The only thing which concerns me is food .. i have tried a lot of Chinese restaurants in Auckland, Wellington. <br/>As an indian I cannot explore much food .. i have ordered for spicy lamb fried rice.. the taste is good when you hungry.. but when you paying $17 fr friderice .. atleast use some fresh veggies,, all of my veggies and meat is frozen.. its commonsense when you see carrots are so cubed that mean its not hand cut.. i can give this place 3 just for their ambiance and staff not for food . Not worth of money

Went there on a Sunday with a serious hang over. Great place for a hang over cure. After having the spicy chicken and spicy fish. Felt a million times better. Oh yea the special rice there is yummy too.

Been a few times with my family.<br/>The noodles are sold for a very good price. Perfect for a snack or a lunch. Pancake servings are huge and delicious. My favourite dish would be the corn!

This is a great authentic Chinese restaurant, with a massive menu! Lots of vegetarian options also, and the portions are HUGE. Highly recommend the eggplant in brown sauce and the hot and sour noodles, delicious.

Authentic, centrally situated Asian restaurant. I have visited a few times for a takeout meal. A plentiful takeaway, for fresh and well-priced asian cuisine. Worth visiting to check out their menu... Decide for yourselves!

Had one takeaway and one dine-in here. The menu was good, with a wide range of choices for authentic Chinese spicy cuisines. The dining area was spacious and clean, compared with most Chinese places. Most dishes tasted good, but some was too oily and greasy such as fried prawns dishes. Hope they could improve in the future. Also, the price was too high.

We came here for their signature bucket fish soup dish. It was fresh and delicious. All the other dishes were cheap and portions were huge. Very well seasoned and authentic tasting. If you’re looking for traditional, authentic, cheap Chinese food this is the place to be.

7 of us went there for lunch, some items were good and some were average. Lunch specials are around $12 and the portion is good. Plenty of on street 60 mins parking.

The only decent Chinese restaurant in the greenlane epsom region. <br/><br/>Their lunch menu is so cheap only around $12 for a huge large bowl of noodles.<br/><br/>Their clams $6 each and seafood are extremely cheap too. To be honest, the fish in the bucket fish was really good, really worth a try. I personally really liked the fried rice and the chicken. I had dinner there one time when my friend had a birthday and we ordered some fresh seafood they have. The lobster, abalone, and oysters were really good, a fair price for such seafood. A really good place for parties and gather ups, the serving of the dishes came a bit slow but due to the busy filled up tables, it didn't seem too long to wait for. A restaurant that I would really recommend for spicy dishes.

Very average food except for the fish in the wood bucket. Ordered 2 noodles and waited so long for them. After asking the waiter a couple times, he served 1 noodle, then forgot the 2nd one. We had to ask them again. That was after like 20min wait. The presentation is also very average. Like home cooking presentation.

we came here for dinner cuz we all love spicy dish ,and what i personally recommended is the bucket fish with mild spicy ,and other dish we ordered are quite generous and tasty as well. definitely should give it a try .

I have been there for my friend's baby 100th day party on last Wednesday. My friend booked the whole place for the party. I was so impressed by the chef's carving skill, every dish looked good and tasted good. It was a great experience.

Came for a friend's birthday dinner. We had the signature fish soup in the wooden bucket, 👍 I would say that s the best dish of the night, fresh and tasty. (Watch out the Fish bone🐟) *Not a great photo 🕸but taste good, though). The rest is just average.
