Review Rice Kitchen Japanese Takeaway - Epsom

Hands down the best Donburi I've ever had the pleasure of eating, will definitely be going back next time I'm in Auckland. Cosy atmosphere, reasonable prices and friendly service. Food was presented well, and tasted fantastic, much more depth of flavour compared to similar dishes I have tried at other restaurants. Highly recommended.

The sushi and meal at Rice Kitchen was incredibly fresh and delicious, and the staff provided excellent service. I highly recommend it!

Loved the chicken Katsu. The portion size was good and the chicken quite tender ans juicy aswell.

Their bento is the BEST I have every ordered in Auckland. Have many combination and tastes amazing! I love their curry rice, chicken bento; And the sushi was amazing.

Great little Japanese take away cafe. A small open kitchen and cafe designed for takeaways. Once you place your order you can watch your food being made and prepared. They have a selection of dishes from Bento Boxes, Donburi, Noodle dishes, Japanese Curry, Sashimi and Sushi, with both meat, fish & vegetarian options. The meals are good sizes and we always enjoy the Bento boxes as they comes with a bit of everything to sample and enjoy. Tonight l had the salmon katsu it was super tasty and the katsu was perfectly cooked. The meals are good value for money, good portion sizes and super tasty.

I have no problem with Rice Kitchen Takoyaki Ball when I eat it. It is crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. I do not think you have ever had that kind food and should not judge badly. And from the photo look like you eat of all the food.

I tried this place couple months ago. Japanese curry reminds me of island curry. ordered for them tonight via uber, food was awesome. recommend these guys. udon noodle beef, prawn Japanese curry & rice sashimi salad...awesome. try them out . & the sushi...fresh. thanks, Leo

Katsu donburi is amazing here. Must try. Great portion size too. The service was fast and staff was polite. Once in a while, I get free sushi with my order which is a bonus.

Miso soup nice. But too much stuff on top. Crunchy starch soaked. <br/><br/>The chicken is nice but oil needs changing for the deep fryer. The sweet sounds doesn’t work with the chicken. Mayo is ok. Maybe try another saucr next time

Their fried chicken was super juicy and the salmon is really fresh. According to the owner, they have fresh salmon delivered from South Island every week

The food is nice. I like their karaage chicken donburi. However they are increasing their price way too much. It was $12 and then it went to $13. Within a short period of time they increased it to $15.....<br/><br/>As much as how tasty the food is, I probably will avoid this place as their pricing is getting out of control for just lunch.<br/><br/>Taste - 4<br/>Value - 2

I have recently been to this Japanese Rick Kitchen. Not happy about their food and service. I ordered a small size of Teriyaki Chicken. It was literally really small. It had only several small slices of chicken, a tea spoon size of meshed potato and a little bit salad, and the rest was rice which occupied more than 70% of the the takeaway box. I went there during my lunch break, but it took them at least 15 minutes to cook the meal. By the time I grabbed the takeaway and went back to my office, my lunch break was over. Highly NOT recommended. August 27th.

Don’t be misled by their sizing! The small is actually a very decent and filling portion - I ordered their karage chicken donburi which was made fresh. The chicken was super crispy and juicy! Also a lovely side salad with mashed potato to compliment it. Will be returning!

Delicious sushi. I have nearly smashed through the entire menu and have yet to be disappointed. All the donburi bowls like Katsu chicken, teriyaki chicken, karage pork and chicken even the beef are all on point. very hard to fault. Its cool that they are all available in small, medium and large sizes. So hard to visit this outlet and not add some deep fried cream cheese and salmon sushi. <br/>The staff are always friendly and wait times are Usually minimal. Prices range from $12 meals to $23. <br/>Parking is a lil bit difficult on Great south at times but there is a lil car park around the corner.

Great little Japanese takeaway! We had bento boxes from here tonight both chicken teriyaki and salmon teriyaki 3/5. The portions are big and on the bland side which caters for some!

Ordered katsu chicken curry for dinner tonight. Curry paste was delicious and the small size was actually quite big. Service was real good. Chef walked up to us to give us the curry. Would definitely come again to try different dishes.

Interesting, fresh and tasty sushi. Haven't tried the hot meals so can't comment. Best for takeaways as they don't have much space for dining in.

I've only tried the sushi rolls here but they are so good! Ingredients are very fresh, even when going here just before 9pm! Much better than any sushi train, and I love that it stays open late as sushi is hard to find after dinner hours. The place is clean and staff friendly. Will definitely be back to try more :)

Yum yum yum!! Most delicious karaage chicken I've ever had the pleasure of devouring, crispy on the outside and not ever dry! Absolutely full of flavour. This is my fave go-to meal in the Epsom area, not only is the food totally on point but the staff are so incredibly delightful! They always smile and really show appreciation for your custom. The service is super quick, 5-10mins wait. Highly recommended guys!!! Go get some chicken 😍😍😍

I absolutely love Rice Kitchen. The menu is great and the sushi is always of a high standard, always made fresh. The staff are lovely and are always willing to make you something personalised if what you are after isn't on display. It isn't somewhere I would go to sit down and have a meal, however it is a great takeaway option and very reasonably priced.

I ordered teriyaki chix donburi to have quick lunch in my car. Even dou i am hungry, I chuck this shit in to rubbish bin. Microwaved,,chicken, teriyaki sauce burnt, dry rice. Small size donburi $12. This is bull shit. I cant believe i spent my money for this. I will not be able to forget this place as worst experiwnce

Love Rice Kitchen. Great food, friendly and fast. Always our first option for delicious takeaways. Make sure you get a side of crispy gyoza!

Takeaway shop, not for dining, but you can sit at the bar and eat if you need to. The food is good enough and recommendable if your in the mood for Japanese food on the go.  Tasty, clean and prepared as expected for good basic Japanese food.  Nothing miraculous.  The price for hot food feels 5 dollars too expensive though, which is my hesitation from a rating of 4 and why I stop here only occasionally.  (I guess the price reflects the area?)

Had a hankering for Japanese last night but with 2 under 3's, it's difficult to get out on short notice. After some perusing, we came across Rice Kitchen online and took the leap. <br/><br/>We placed a phone order and were advised it would be ready in 10 minutes. We ordered a teriyaki chicken bento, a yakiniku beef bento and a large chicken katsu curry. All of the dishes were amazing and for anyone who is unsure, the sizings are very generous. Both chicken dishes were tender and full of flavour and the beef was thinly sliced and seasoned to perfection.<br/><br/>The waitress who greeted me on collection was very polite and it was great to be able to see your food being prepared in front of you. The premises are immaculate and all staff were japanese - authentic. Can happily report an A council rating for any germophobes out there also. Very VERY happy with our find, I'm definitely going back here again!

A solid 5-star for this amazing Japanese Takeaway.<br/><br/>I came across this place accidentally. Now its high on my list and have already frequented it couple of times. Place is nice and clean which is complimented by the smiling, courteous and an efficient staff over the counter.<br/><br/>The food is of excellent quality and taste and also looking to the fact that I am a vegetarian, they did cater to my needs when I had ordered their yummy Tempura Donburi, Tempura Rolls and Avo/Tofu Udon.<br/><br/>Do visit this place for sure!

Eel sushi was tasty. Takoyaki balls yummy.<br/>We also ordered the karaage chicken donburi, which when I saw it thought 'ugh, it's going to dry and horrible'. Couldn't have been more wrong. Super juicy. <br/>Yakiniku beef noodles also was very nice. Both dishes had plenty of meat - no skimping!<br/><br/>We'll be going back to try the curries and more of the sushi.<br/><br/>@Auckland_eats

Great sushi and great chicken katsu - this is one of my favourite places for weekday lunches. I think it's also well priced for what you get ($11 for a filling chicken katsu donburi).<br/><br/>Staff are lovely and food is always hot and fresh.

Actually, a solid 4.5 star. It is primarily a takeout place, but the quality is remarkable consistent. The place is very clean and the food is always attractively presented. Obviously popular, because always well patronised on Friday and Saturday evenings.

Amazing food, amazing sushi. Miso soup is top notch. All meals are seasoned and made to perfection. The chicken meals in particular are tasty. The staff are very friendly. I have eaten here many times and at no point was it disappointing. A superb and modest place.

The food is quite good. Had the bento box the other night, an extra $4 compare the the don, there are 2 pieces of sashimi, a piece of sushi and a fried prawn.<br/>The Chicken Katsu is fried just right, crispy but not overly oily. <br/><br/>This is one of the more authentic Japanese joint in the neighborhood. Reccomend if you would like a quick meal/takeaway

I originally rated this as 3 stars, but lately we have gone back and purchased sushi here and it is excellent. I haven't tried their cooked meals again, but am upgrading them to 4 stars on the strength of their sushi.<br/>
