The Surf and Turf was meke!! But the wait time was 40mins 😬 "bit long". The milkshake was bit budget tasting for the price they charge, just a little suggestion maybe use Nesquik or Cadbury drinking chocolate to make them, it will definitely taste better.

Rocked up with our family of 8 without a booking visiting from Wellington. Food was done well. Portion sizes were perfect especially for big eaters in our family. I had the gangsta burger. Not flash but simple and cooked to perfection. Would happily go back for that burger. All burgers should be like that, simple ingredients but just done really well. Drinks were nice. Service was exceptional. Would happily go back next visit
Went for group lunch. Nice Kai. Enjoyed my afternoon. We all ordered different plates, all really nice. Good service.
Update: Super busy, but the staff handled it like champs 🏆. I can't say anything bad about my meal or the entrees, but 1 of my guest sent his plate back as it wasn't cooked properly. No biggie, no drama. Good vibes at The Rivers.
Wonderful local to pop into, which so happened to be the-All-Blacks-versus-the-Springboks game last night. Many beautiful patrons, some stunners, oh and the food - wow! Meaty and manly size! hehe Gorgeous staff, personable and engaging who really enjoy their people interactions, which is just the coolest thing 😄 Management: wonderful! I enjoyed watching the interactions between her, her staff and her customers ♥️ Well-trained staff, seemed ready breezy -great workers x
Generous portions. Nice location. Had a dinner here. Service was slow since there were a few big groups but all waitresses and staff worked very hard, especially the girl working at the bar, busy but always with beautiful smiles. If you stay in Gisborne for one night. Here is your best bet for dinner.
Very busy place. Good food and reasonably priced. On street parking which can mean a short walk. Good menu with board specials. Pleasant staff under the pump.
This place is always packed which says a lot about it. It's pub style food so the prices are very reasonable, but there are also restaurant type dishes too.
I had the nachos which were great and couldn't finish them all there was so much. My guest had a ribeye steak with their choice of sides. Both meals came around 10 minutes after ordering which is really fast considering most of the tables were full.
It would be suitable for families but maybe go earlier as it can get quite loud into the night, it is a pub after all.
Always great value for money and fantastic service. We love it as a family friendly venue with loads of atmosphere and central to everything. Gorgeous views over the river and lots of different styles of seating. Love this place. Love the board specials as well as the comprehensive everyday menu!
I like to come in here off-hours when it's less busy for a late lunch or an early dinner. I had to skip the peach sponge pudding last night because I was so full from the surf and turf with salad and I opted for baked potato and sour cream instead of fries. DELICIOUS !
I was at this place only one. It was good but not great for me. The staff was nice, the atmosphere ok the good was good. Maybe I'm to picky. Lol
