Four of us came for breakfast on Sunday 14 July. We chose a table and then ordered our food. The staff were friendly and helpful. We had a chance to chat before the food and drinks arrived in a timely manner. We all made choices - the food was really great. When my sister asked for more toast and spread - this too arrived quickly. We asked the waitress what the new jam was - she didn’t know but came back straight away to tell us that it was made from Feijoas. We’d all go back again. I also selected 3 different pies from the cabinet for our dinner that night - they were all very tasty.
A must visit when in Greytown. Excellent coffee and a great menu with many favorites. I had seafood chowder and this was top notch. Many thankswill be back soon
Their cabinet display has amazing selection of food from pies, salads and pastries, etc. We had breakfast here twice. Ordered their Poached eggs and chorizo on Moroccan flat bread. Definitely more exciting than your average eggs on toast. It was very tasty and reasonably priced. Service was quick and staff were friendly. Decor was very inviting and courtyard was a good place to catch up with friends/family. Best cafe in Greytown for sure. 😊🍴
Having recently reopened after a refurb thought I would stop in for lunch on my through. On arrival I was warmly greeted by the friendly staff who looked to be run off their feet, headed for a table in the sun out the back. Was served promptly and ordered a soy latte and the corn fritters with bacon. The coffee came quickly and was very good, my fritters were well cooked and seasoned just so. The chutney served with them was excellent. All in all I would go back however wasn't a knock out
I dislike getting up early. I dislike feeling overly tired all day because I've had to wake at 4 to make a 6am flight. Usually what perks me up is a good coffee and a tasty breakfast. And that's what I had here. My coffee what very very good, and served quickly. I should have taken note of the brand of beans they used. My food, the Deli Breakfast, was excellent. Two poached eggs on toasted loaf a gorgeous sausage and lovely eye bacon. I wasn't expecting balsamic mushrooms but they were cut chunky how I like them. If I was a regular visitor to the Wairarapa I'd stop again and it looked better than the other places I past in Graytown. Very nice place, lovely people.

I've stopped here a number of times over the last 3 years and this place is consistently good.
I don't know what all these bad reviews are about. I went to Greytown recently with my mother for a weekend stay over and we ate at the Deli the first afternoon we got there - and then they couldn't get rid of us! The food and service were both so great we just kept going back to the Deli (even after checking out a few other places) for pretty much Breakfast, Lunch and Tea.
I loved it there. The coffees & Hot chocolates were great - the food was really really yummy and sitting outside in the sun in their nice set up out the back was lovely too. The service was wonderful (partly why we went back so much - our waitress that first day was so nice and made such a good impression - her daughter was working there too and was great as well). Our visits there were the highlight of our trip! Nothing beats good food and good company.

I see some of the older reviews are not good, and I have to say that the service (and food) has improved a lot over the last year or two. I live locally (Featherston) and I do eat at the MSD now and again. I have noticed in the last year that the service is much improved (new owners?? I think so).
Not many places make a decent Chai Soy Latte, and these people do.
Yes, I will continue to eat there, and recommend it.

I eat here often (weekly) and find the food excellent - in preparation, taste and presentation. It's fresh, range is extensive and ample portions come from a busy kitchen.
The service is always courteous and unobtrusive. The staff are not equipped with paint - on smiles as is often the case elsewhere and (thankfully) don't wish me to "have a nice day"..
I'm happy to wait while someone constructs my meal. If I wasn't, I'd eat at a chain burger dispensary. Perhaps some have forgotten, dining out is not about grabbing & running.
If I didn't enjoy the experience at Main St. Deli, I wouldn't eat there..... but I do.
I have been visiting the deli for at least ten years now. I've been lucky enough to have a great experiences almost every time, today included. Even on a busy day (Martinborough Fair), our service was friendly and efficient. We enjoyed eating in the shaded outdoor area (apart from the flies). My eggs Benedict was tasty, although I'm surprised the ciabatta wasn't very toasted. My partner's chicken burger tasted fine but came with barely-cooked fries. Coffee is ok. As always, the extensive counter selection is superb. Hopefully the deli will retain the quality it's been known for in years to come.

Lovely food, lovely staff. Beautiful place to eat with both indoor and outdoor dining. Highly recommended if you will look for a nice place to eat in Greytown.

Lovely café and very friendly, helpful staff. I enjoyed eggs in toast for breakfast and was given a little jug of olive oil to replace the butter. There was not a lot of dairy free options in the delicious array of counter food, but they offered to prepare something.
Main Street Deli has been feeding locals and visitors to Greytown for as long as I can remember. The outdoor garden area has been tidied up and is a relaxing place to enjoy coffee and food. My cheese scone was quite tasteless today but I enjoyed the chocolate chip muffin. Great service.
This was some of the best food I have had in a long, best chi latte I’ve had in my life. The kitchen food was amazing with lots of flavour, the service was amazing I had this wonderful waitress I think her name was Caitlin, she had delightful attitude and was very friendly, overall 10/10

Lovely earthy atmosphere on a sunny Saturday. Sat in the ooen back coutyard. Lots of sweet & savoury food options. Counter service was busy and cold. Ordered a hot choc, mocha and a spinach & cream cheese muffin. We waited over 45 minutes before the lad clearing tables noticed we hadn't received it, and followed up. It was out 5 minutes later. He was a friendly hard working lad who gave personality to the deli. Thank you. The mocha was flavourless - could not taste the kawhe or the chocolate. Muffin was tasty with a good amount of cream cheese. It was that good, i wish i hadn't offered half to my partner!
Very lovely atmosphere and food is superb as always. Love the seafood chowder which has been a long time favourite of The Deli. A touch of health giving Tumeric to change it up. Coffee was devine and hot, great for a cool winters day. Well done to the team.
Located in a lovely old timber building right on Greytown’s main street (as you’d expect from the café’s name!) this is a great place to stop for a snack on your way to points north or for a break during a shopping spree.
You can choose to sit at a wrought iron table out on the footpath, find a corner inside the building, or relax in the shady courtyard out the back.
I can confirm that the Eggs Benedict at the Main Street Deli are absolutely spectacular. The coffee, too, is very, very good.
