Review Portofino - Hamilton

We dinned in an outdoor booth which was fun and comfortable. Really enjoyed our yummy meals! Pasta was so delicious, mussels were great! Desserts were also yummy! We also ordered some cocktails too! Would definitely recommend🥰

I highly recommend the risotto in here, but im just not a fan of the seafood spaghetti. Tiramisu is the best! You have to try it when you come here.

Nice atmosphere! Extremely busy on a Saturday night. Took about 10-15mins for the server to come take orders but that’s algood. Pasta portions are large and rich in sauce so very filling! Thankful they found us a table even without a reservation on a busy night.

Probably the best Portofino I’ve had, the one in CBD of Auckland made me feel sick but this was perfect. Highly recommend this one, especially the Steak

The Toblerone cocktail and cheesecake together are outstanding. Will absolutely be coming back.

Enjoyed a really nice meal, both my partner and I had the gluten free pasta and you honestly could not tell anything was different. The limoncello and port we had after were both delicious. The whole experience was packed with flavour.

My friend and I were walking through town with our doggos. We were looking for somewhere to eat on a cool winter evening and decided pasta was a good option. We called out to the staff to ask if dogs were ok outside and we were told yes and to sit at a particular seat that had overhead heating. The service was excellent. The lovely waitress evening brought out a bowl of water for the doggos.

Very good experience. The staff were so friendly, polite and helpful! The entrees were delicious! Spaghetti, gnocchi and lasagna were awesome! The parmigiana was too expensive and too small. The dessert was so good!

My partner and I had an awesome time at Portofino. The staff were very helpful and polite. The night was quite busy but we didn't wait long before we were served. The food that we got were all delicious with very generous portion sizing. Overall dining experience was great. Worth every penny.

Their service & food was absolutely fantastic!! The pasta was soo good and also tbeir dessert.

Exceptional! THE best evening meal we've had in NZ. The garlic bread is to die for 👍. Great selection of wines. Staff are very attentive.

Came here for dinner for two. Had a couple of drinks and antipasto to start. Selection of meats, vegetables olives and cheese, was nice but felt was a little basic. I had gnocchi carbonara and friend had eye fillet steak and verges. The eye fillet was great and well cooked, my gnocchi was very nice and tasty, only negative was felt it was a little too ‘cheesy’ sauce. Nice atmosphere and staff were friendly and attentive. The only thing that met it down was the toilets, they were at the back of the building and shared with another restaurant and not overly clean.

From the start me and my friend was welcome in, got our seat, service was quick and easy, the girls are absolutely lovely and make you feel welcome.. and the food was AMAZING!!! absolutely perfect! Thank you portofino you guys are the best!💙 Callum James

A lovely quiet atmosphere. Efficient, prompt, attentive and helpful staff. Loved the grilled chicken parmagiana served with veges. So often it is fried and being grilled was a little bit healthier. Great location on the main street. 👍✨

I came here by myself and looked through their $20 lunch menu, and ended up ordering the tortellini. It was very good, but nothing spectacular. The waiter forgot my order and had to come back to ask me 10 minutes later, and I think it’s a little overpriced for what it is, but it was still tasty.

The service is very good. But unfortunately the food just doesn’t cut it. I’ve been here a few times in the Hope the food will get better, but unfortunately it just isn’t to the Mission Bay Portofino standards.

Food was average, waited over 20min for the main with no explanation or apology, no smile from the staff - she kept wanting to take our plates away when we were clearly still eating and the final straw was being served a dirty beer glass.<br/>A big disappointment it used to be so good.

Am always satisfied with the food I order every time I go there! If you want perfect Italian food, Portofino is the way to go. Also, staff are always friendly and helpful and the restaurant itself is quite nice. Would definitely visit over and over again :) Highly recommend

Ordered the pollo pizza. was excellent. fresh ingredients. taste, texture and smell all was near perfect - served in a reasonable time...friendly and professional staff.

Lovely authentic Italian cuisine! They're much better than their neighbour Italian venue- the pasta was delicious and the pizza was exactly like the pizza I had in Italy- will be back! Staff were lovely too- it was pricey though but well worth it

Food was good, I had the risotto. Service was great. The place Needs am AC it was super hot n too many flies. Also the toilet is in a dodgy looking place .<br/><br/>Updated: went again here and tried the lasagna. And it was delicious! Best thing on their menu I think.

We dined here to celebrate a special occasion. Great ambiance, child-friendly, staff were friendly and helpful with some menu inquiries, although we waited a fair amount of time to get our desserts and charged us twice on the last dessert they served. However, this was promptly corrected when informed. Had the garlic pizza pane, cheese pizza pane, spaghetti alla bolognese, scalopine al marsala, filleto al vino rosso, panna cota, afogato with liquer and gelato - Vanilla, chocolate and strawberry flavours. Both veal and beef were very tender and well-seasoned. The kid’s spaghetti bolognese tasted rich and flavourful and I believe one that I would remember. The vanilla with raspberries panna cota was smooth and has the melt-in-the mouth texture. Out of the 3 flavours of gelato I have tried, I prefer the strawberry flavour. Generally, a great dining experience with the family.

The customer service here was great. The waiter was kind and with the chefs help, catered to our needs. The oysters were average and small but that's because I ordered them in July- middle of winter.

Went to portofino with a group of 10 people and the whole experience was absolutely amazing! the service was great, such friendly staff. the food was delicious and lots of vegetarian options which was great. overall amazing experience and definitely plan to go back there!!

Really nice meals the anti pasto platter is amazing. The spaghetti was nice and the chicken cannelloni is great. Highly recommend. The service was also very good.

Great service, good prices but poor pizza. I wish I could have liked it but the base was so chewy I regret purchasing. The waiter was lovely however!

Actually there pasta is same as our recipes, traditional Italian food. Piazza is fresh and crisp,nice flavor. Salad really suit the person who is losing weight, didn't have overdressed, all ingredients are fresh and colorful.<br/>At last, I want to say,their desserts is really nice.You should go for it. I'm not kidding.

We came here late afternoon for a bite before heading back to Auckland... The service was great but we were the only ones here... Started with garlic pizza bread, fresh garlic and hot so it was ok... Then had the seafood marinara pasta and fish of the day .... The seafood sauce was nice ... The fish was gurnard and cooked very well the rice was nice, just abit too much sauce over everything but otherwise it was a nice fresh hot lunch ...

I was really in the mood for pasta so we dined at Portofino on a busy Saturday night. The menu has extensive pasta options, along with a number of mains and pizza. We ordered some bread and olives to start, both were delicious and generous. I ordered the scallop rigatoni. Our mains took around 40 mins to come, but we were happy chatting so was fine. When the rest of the table was served, I was informed that the kitchen got my order wrong and I had to wait a few more minutes. When it did come, my meal was piping hot but the scallops were over cooked and I thought the sauce was pretty tasteless. <br/>My mum ordered a second glass of wine from the manager but it never came, which was frustrating however our waitress was great and apologised for his mistake. <br/>Most of the service was great but my meal was average at best.

Having had both takeaway and dine in from this restaurant it's a definite favourite.<br/>The meals are delicious (could be bigger for the Mr who could easily have eaten more).<br/>A little pricey but for the experience we didn't even mind. Lovely staff who do all they can to make it a lovely evening.<br/>

We decided to dine here to celebrate a special event. We've initially ordered the feta salad and we thought the serving offered a very generous amount of cheese. Other than that, we were extremely unhappy with the experience. We've ordered two mains, pollo ala cacciatore and parmigiana. Both the chickens were cooked very dry. It lacked the authentic italian taste and both almost taste the same. We would never try their mains again.

The service here was great. The meal was even better. The portion size was generous and the taste is just amazing. I would definitely like to go back and try the other dishes. I had the salmon pasta and it was so creamy but not too heavy.

Average. Service was average seeing as myself and my friend were the only two in the restaurant. Water wasn't topped up and had to ask. Had a salmon pasta dish was ok not that great considering the price $25. As I could have gone else where for lunch for half the price with better service and food. Tried my friends dish she had the cannelloni. It was nicely presented but again expensive and could of had a better cannelloni from Furnace which is more affordable. Overall disappointed as I had high hopes as this venue is suppose to be an excellent place to dine.

We celebrated my birthday and it was fantastic! The staff and food were excellent. The atmosphere was good. My sister brought a cake and my family and portofino staff sang a song together. We are going to come here again. Thank you

Portofino is one of those memorable restaurants for putting a smile on customer’s faces. The staff are friendly, approachable and able to advise on the best options from the menu. The menu makes choice of food difficult because everything sounds mouthwatering! But the good news is that once you’re served, the food satisfies just as you had expected it would. Perfect place to go to if you want a happy stomach and enjoy spending time with special others. This place is just right! :)

My wife and I were out on a date night on Friday and I decided to surprise her with some Italian cuisine, our reservation was for 8:30pm but we were running a little early, we were greeted and asked if we could wait for a couple minutes while they get a table ready, the restaurant was jam packed. We waited approx. 3-5min before we were led to our table, great service. We were given our menus and left in peace, the food was not only DELICIOUS but very very quick considering how busy they were I was very impressed!!! The wait staff were very attentive to all our requests! Dinner for 2 for under $80 incl. entree and a desert you can not beat that!!!<br/><br/>If there were bonus stars I would add them, we Most definitely will be back

Stunning meal! Nothing to fault. Not 5 star only because there is always something to improve on. Forgot I was back in NZ and happily left a 10% tip.

A group of 8 booked in for a ladies lunch at the new Portofino here in Hamilton which is affiliated with the Akld Portofino restaurant group. Attentive service, fabulous pasta dishes(except for the rather ordinary lettucy salads) &amp; smart decor combined to make us all feel rather special. <br/>The trip to the bathrooms almost required a GPS navigator but in sum would really recommend it to people wanting a yummy lunch or special dinner out, will definitely be returning for an evening meal.

The most filling meal I ever had. The portions are big and delicious.
